I was at the grocery store in Clayton and when I came out I was met with a flat tire because of a screw. Thankfully, I was able to air up my tire enough to get somewhere to have it patched quickly but the air was leaking enough to be able to be heard. I went to Phinney s hoping to be helped quickly as it would only require a patch so that I could get home safely. Instead I was told that if I left my car there, she MIGHT be able to fit me in but the earliest availability they had was next week. NEXT WEEK. For a tire patch. I was noticeably annoyed and said No that s fine. Instead of good customer service I was met with a very rude and sarcastic sure sounds like it. On my way out the door. This place may be excellent, but you wouldn t know with that witch of a receptionist sitting at the front desk.

Thank you to Phinney's for helping my mother in law. Jane M was having issues with a tire and was a long way from home. My husband and I are very appreciative for your help. Thank you to Carolyn and the team at Phinney's for taking the time to care. We are very grateful and would definitely recommend your garage to anyone!

My wife and I were camping in the area, and we went out to enjoy the day and the starter went in our truck. Called AAA to get a flatbed to tow it and they took it to Phinney's. We are very glad they did. We were far from home and alone with no other means of transportation. After we spoke with Kristine she put us at ease, an employee got us back to the campground and came and got us the next morning to pick up our repaired truck. Helped us through a stressful situation and we are grateful.

Now a days it is difficult to walk out of any business and feel good about what happened. Phinney's surprised me! This was my first time and it certainly will not be my last. Everything was handled very professionally and exactly how I wanted it. The price was reasonable (I called a few places). I write a fair number of reviews and I am so pleased to be able to write this one!.

I purchased my wife's vehicle from Phinneys last year and they still call every 3 months to ask if everything is working properly. I've had several oil changes and services done to both of my vehicles and the service you get is phenomenal to say the least. The staff and mechanics and friendly and very helpful.

Recently sold my car to Phinney's and had a great experience all round. Matt and Kristin were great to deal with and we agreed on a fair price for my car that was more than other dealerships were offering. I even got a free tank of gas and lunch as I drove about 2h to drop off my car!Thanks again!

Working with Matt and Kristin was a pleasure. I had listed my vehicle for sale, and within two days, they were at my house picking it up! As I do not have experience selling vehicles, I was worried about the process in general with a private party sale. They handled all of the paperwork, and streamlined the process. This company offers a high level of professionalism and customer service; I am very grateful they found me!

It s not easy moving to a new town and leaving behind the trusted people who fix your broken things. It took a few tries before my car went to Phinney s. There I found honest people who charge fairly. Something happened to my car recently and because of what it was, I got a call saying, This was the problem, the car is set, no charge. No charge! They could have easily manufactured a different problem, and charged me for parts and labor. I would never have known the difference. This place is the one to go to if you need help!

We come here whenever we need repairs on our vehicles. They are always straightforward and honest and they get the job done. They've ways been able to squeeze us in when we're in a tough spot with no issues.These. Guys. Are. Awesome!Oh!...We also just recently had the interior of our van detailed here after having kids wreck it over almost 6 years and after it was done it looked and smelled amazing! They got parts of it clean that we thought never would look that way again. We definitely recommend this repair shop to anyone that likes a place that'll bend over backwards for you and that's also easy to work with. Thank you to the team at Phinney's Automotive!

While traveling to the 1,000 Island area, I had gotten a flat tire. We installed the spare on the side of the thruway & made it to our destination. But, the tire had to be fixed before we headed home. We stopped at a dealer on Route 12, and they were no help at all! Except for the fact that they referred us to Phinney's in Clayton, who we already happened to find on the internet, so that's where we headed. I must say, we received the best customer service at Phinney's! They were quick to help us in all the right ways. They did exactly what they said they would do & for the price the told us, without gouging us just because we were from out of town. After showing us the non-repairable damage to our tire, a matching tire had to be ordered, which they made sure arrived the next day, mounted & installed it for us, re-installed the spare tire . . . all with nothing but friendliness & pleasantries being exchanged, because the technician really seemed to enjoy his job! After our repair was made, we decided to wash our car in the carwash attached to Phinney's. As my husband was about to get change from the money machine, the service secretary, who was leaving for the day, backed her car up, called him over & gave him car wash tokens! She didn't have to do that! Such a great company & people to deal with. I highly recommend them & they get 5 stars from me!

I highly recommend Phinney's Automotive. We advertised a pickup truck for sale on a local for-sale-by-owner web site, and Matthew Phinney responded to our ad. He was pleasant and fair throughout the entire process, and our truck is now on the Phinney's lot awaiting its next owner. Though we haven't had the opportunity to buy a car or get service done at Phinney's, based upon this experience, I would definitively not hesitate to do so. Keep up the good work Matt! Thanks!

Our car broke down on a Saturday at 10:30am right after we just checked out of our hotel. We were heading home from a vacation and were 6.5 hours away from home. We got some phone numbers from Napa since the car broke down right near it. They gave us a few garages to call and one of the garages said it was too late and no one would likely be able to help us since almost all places close at noon. That would have meant we would be stuck there through Monday. We called Phinney's and Richard the tech over the phone said he could do whatever he could do to get us on the road that day if they had the parts and he would work past noon for us. Kris said they would be there to tow us around 11 and he was there a little before 11. They got the part they needed but it turns out the fuel pump they received was shooting gas all over the place and was a dud. So they called another local place for the pump but they didn't have it so they had to call a town at least 30 min away to put in a second part that thankfully worked. Richard went through all that trouble and kept his word that he would do whatever he could to get us on the road. For that we are very grateful for his service and dedication. Despite the dud that they first received we were able to leave by 2pm. The car ran awesome on our trip home. The staff were extremely nice to us. Corey the salesperson offered us to borrow a car if needed but we had already checked out. I really felt that the bill was reasonable and they could have charged a lot more, given that we didn't have any other options on a Saturday afternoon. Kris processed the bill and let us pay before he was even done so we could hit the road right away. The facility is also very nice with a PC, TV ,snack machine, comfortable chair and sofa while you wait. They went beyond our expectations so I recommend Phinney's if you need service in the Clayton area.

Recently, I took my car to Phinney's service department before a road trip (front wheel hub was broke) and it was done hours after my initial phone call so I could make it to my trip on time. They are professional, quick, and do awesome work! Thank you to the team at Phinney's for getting me back on the road!

My husband and I just recently bought a 2014 Mazda CX-5 and are absolutely in love with it. The employees are courteous, display professionalism, knowledge of all their vehicles and are very pleasant to work with. The establishment is clean, providing a comfortable waiting area along with refreshments. Phinneys made the process of buying a vehicle simple and hassle free! Would definitely recommend them to everyone over any car dealership around.

Terrible terrible place. Terrible customer service!! Not only is there a slim selection of vehicles but the customer service is awful. I went during their work hours and not one service representative came to talk to me or answer my questions. I then made an appointment and I drove all the way there to have the sales guy call in sick, so my appointment was cancelled. I still went to check out the vehicle because I was already on my way. The sales rep was in his car. I will never go back there again. What a joke of a business.

Absolute slobs leave oil filter gaskets in catch tray. Advertising OEM parts using cheap oil and filters. Denial of wrong doing when presented with proof. I stopped going personally after they screwed my alignment and charged me for a camber kit that wasn t needed and jacked my bill up. Worked on and seen several friends and families vehicles that have seen their quality of work. This business shames small town mechanic businesses.

Friendly, helpful staff. Honest owners that'll give you a fair price and not try to scam you. Hard to find an honest car dealership but this one is it. They handled all DMV stuff for us as well.

Matthew Phinney contacted me about a vehicle I posted for sale on Craigslist. He offered me a fair price and even took care of the paperwork for the outstanding loan. So much easier than selling to a private party. I enjoyed working with him and his father.

Great place...Great Experience...Would recommend them! Richard in Service and Anthony and Matt in Sales great guys! Heres why:On a recent trip to nearby Alexandria Bay our minivan broke down on an ice cream run the night before we were scheduled to leave. We called AAA and they dispatched Phinneys. Richard the tow driver and mechanic said he would do what he could to get us back home that he would call before noon the next day. We were staying with friends and they picked us up, however, Richard offered to drive us to where we were staying. True to his word he called us before noon and explained that the transmission was shot and would cost approximately $1800.00 to repair. When we went to Phinneys he explained that car is not worth the money to repair. Our car was a 2002 Dodge Minivan with 142000 miles. Since Phinneys is a full service auto center Richard directed us to Anthony in Sales part of auto center. My wife and I were debating to just rent a car and take 6 hour ride home and buy something close to home....we checked the lot and found a family car that suited our needs. We checked Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds and car we picked priced fairly. We checked dealerships close to home and car was selling for less than car local dealership was selling to us. Anthony and Matt took care of everything and made a stressful situation less stressful.

A shout out to Dave and Phinney's towing service that helps us get our car out of the road when it just suddenly "died" in front of a driveway and then as it was noon on Saturday in Clayton NY and no one open to service our car towed it to Watertown so we could get "a new alternator" . Even dropped me off at the wedding site so I could attend the wedding we came for and my husband went with the car to Watertown and was able to be back in time for the reception later that day.
