Place has been empty for a few months, maybe they are closed?I had work done last year and it felt shoddy to say the least. One of the repairs I had was simple breaks and they lost one of my lugs and didn't replace it.

New ownership. Quick, cheap and unprofessional. Mechanic got oil stains throughout my leather interior. Didn t notice till months later the they never replaced the engine cover. They damaged the oil pan plug and now oil leaks. Hopefully I can get it re-threaded otherwise I d have to replace the oil pan. $$$$ they don t seem to be opened so can t get issue resolved.Services: Brake service & repair, Oil change

New owners are sketchy. Not organized. Says one thing, does another. Tried overcharging me. Got me coming back for things that should have been done in the first place. Said was going to do my wheel bearing along with lower control arm, inner outer tie rod and axel. The turn around was quick so I ll give them that. Got it back after two days. Did everything but bearing had to come back and asked me which bearings I wanted said I wanted 94$ one. Showed up to pick up. Said he needed another hour. He Had me confused with someone so I waited an hour for no reason missing a commissioned deal at work literally costing me $1300. After negotiating due to inconvenience, i said I ll pay the cost of the bearing. (Says 165$) MAKE SURE YOU GET THINGS IN WRITING AND VERIFY what you talked about.

I am from Buffalo (not Rochester) and had an accident in a city I'm not familiar with. John (the owner) was very customer oriented and helped me through a towing issue and fixed my car with what I believe was very transparent, honest and fair pricing (wasn't a small job). Above all, I haven't yet encountered a mechanic I feel I can trust until I brought my car into this shop. I knew nothing about any of the local auto shops but this one had the best reviews in Rochester and I now know why. John, Shane and team all got my car running again with great customer service.Update: they sodded my parts together without my consent and messed up the ball joint.

I've been going here for about 2 years now and I've never had any issues. To my knowledge they are honest and I've never had them try to push fixing anything other than what I came in for. Always get right in to fixing my car when i have an appointment, no waiting around like I've had with some other places. They've always kept me updated on the progress towards the car if it's taking a while as well, and they've even offered to give me a ride if needed.

I came to the Auto Stop for the first time when I had a problem with my power steering a few months back. My neighbor had been bringing his cars to Bruce for years and strongly recommended him. I was immediately impressed when I got to the shop, everyone was attentive and gave me a very accurate quote for my car. When I came to pick it up it was on time and the price was exactly what they said it would be. I'll be coming back here again.

This is and has been my regular go to Auto repair shop for more years than I care to remember. They fix things right the first time and their prices are very fair. Great people. Never a problem.

I started to hear a lot of noises when I drive, after hours of researching online, I decided to give The Auto Stop a try. It's about 30 mins away from where I live and my expectation was high. Turned out the price was very fair. They showed me what was wrong and what they can do to fix the problem. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Bruce. While I was waiting, I saw many returned customers came by with homemade desserts and I knew that I was at the right place. The Auto Shop saved me $200-$300 if I went to a different place and I'm very happy with the work they done. Highly recommend this place for automotive repairing.

Very hard to find an honest mechanic. I usually try to do all work on my car because most places usually overcharge and aren't always honest. I needed something small done, have a tire swapped from one rim to another. I called and even though they were closing in half an hour on a holiday weekend, the guy told me to come in soon so they could get it done. When I got there the staff was very friendly and helpful. They took my car in right away and got the job done fast. Great place and will definitely go back if I need work done I can't do myself. Thank you Auto Stop. You guys are the best.

This is the most negative review that I have ever written. I usually share my positive experiences and, rarely, do I write negative reviews. However, wasting $700 and being put in a life threatening situation is enough of a reason for me to write a review that is four thousand words long. To summarize what follows, the Auto Stop installed old brakes on my wife's MINI, sent her back home in a car that leaked braking fluid, promised to refund a part of the $700, caused me to loss yet another $100, stated that upon consulting their attorney they were not obligated to do anything, and said that their business was facing closure. Now, the details, if you are interested:I had been a loyal customer of Marcie's (the owner of the Auto Stop) for most of the three and a half years that I lived in Rochester, NY. During that time I've come to their shop multiple times with my 2014 Mazda3 and my wife's 2011 MINI. The service was always good, communication better than your average shop. However, things took a sudden turn at the end of 2019. I moved to MD in November while my wife stayed in Rochester for few more months. In December she took her MINI to the Auto Stop for brake job -- rear breaks, including calipers, were replaced. Run her about $700. It was Friday. While she drove the car during the weekend she called me saying that all brake lights came on. I told her to go back to the shop, which she did. She called me saying that the car was barely braking but she made it to the shop; the mechanics have told her that all braking fluid leaked and she was lucky to have made it; they proceeded to fix, i.e. tighten whatever wasn't, added (or flushed) the fluid and let her go at no charge. Having heard that I was in a shock -- it was only luck that my wife wasn't driving to visit me in MD that weekend as that could have resulted in her loosing her brakes while driving at the PA highway (with 70mph speed limit!). I was frustrated but trusted that it was an honest mistake. Fast forward to February of 2020, my wife joined me in MD. As soon as I saw her drive I heard and saw that her rear brakes were in terrible condition -- extremely rusted, flaking, and chipped. I did not believe that these had been installed new. I was upset but kept calm. I went to a local shop whose mechanics confirmed that the brake rotors, pads, and calipers were all in bad shape; calipers were shot. I conveyed the findings to Marcie over phone and told her directly that I would like to obtain a refund -- at least partial -- as I had to have the entire brake job re-done. My multiple phone calls with Marcie were difficult to say the least. She offered fixing the brakes if I came back to her shop which I did not want to do as I believed that driving few hundred miles on these brakes was dangerous. She stated that she might be able to do a partial refund for the parts. I agreed as that was better than nothing. I had the local shop fix the brakes again and give me back the old calipers (which I had to pay extra $100 for as shops normally send old calipers to manufacturers for a discount on the new ones). I shipped the old calipers back to the Auto Stop as agreed with Marcie. Upon receiving the calipers, Marcie asked me for receipt from my local shop who took them off. For the next three weeks I haven't heard from Marcie so I called her again in the beginning of April to check on my partial refund. Marcie answered the phone and stated that it was impossible that these calipers were installed in December (my point exactly), that had I gone to her in person with the MINI she would have had the brakes fixed, and that she was waiting to talk to her supplier. At this point I have lost my hope for any refund. Marcie made it very clear that I am not getting the $700, not even part of it, back. She made sure to tell me that she had checked with her attorney as far as what her responsibility is and that she was not responsible to provide any sort of remedy.

They always do great work, get your car back very quick, and are super clear about all costs. Marcy the owner is amazing to work with, most reliable shop I've been to in the in the city.

This auto shop totally lacks professionalism. I needed my vehicle repaired and called them to see if they would be able to work on it. After they agreed, I arranged to have my vehicle towed to the facility where they subsequently refused to accept the vehicle and had it sent back to my residence. The reason: they didn't want it. I incurred over $100 in towing fees because of this! I ended up having my vehicle repaired at 12 Corners Mobil in Brighton. Unless you like throwing money away on unreliable and unprofessional mechanics, I suggest you stay away from The Auto Stop!!!

For 26 years I've been coming to Bruce's Auto Stop, these guys are the greatest. I can't count the number of times I thought I needed some expensive repair and Bruce got me done for way less. He's helped me with everything, even last minute emergency repairs.

Women owned business so the ladies can trust the prices. Honest service. They are always busy but doesn't that say something?? Highly recommended

Ripoff. They wanted to charge $70 just to read my engine code. I could buy a used code-reader myself for that price! When I asked if I could borrow their code reader and check it myself, they said no. Avoid them.

Very honest. I was prepared to pay over $1,500 for extensive repairs, they found out it was only a $40 fix. How's that for honesty!
