Strange experience trying to get the NY state inspection. They did their own inspection of my car without doing the state inspection, at all. Sent me photos of various parts of my car and an invoice for $3600 with a list of 11 things I needed to do before they could pass my car. I told them I couldn t afford it, they offered me financing and cheaper parts, but it all started to feel like a scam. I confirmed with a friend that nothing on that list was actually needed to pass the inspection. After I declined they didn t do the state inspection and didn t charge me for it. I immediately took my car to another shop in the area and it passed and I was done within an hour. This is probably an unfortunate sales tactic they use on people who may not know any better. Be wary and get a second opinion before committing to this shop.

I was really amazed by how incredible the customer service at Harry's auto repair is. I had gone to another auto repair shop and gotten a really high quote for repairs i'd need to pass inspection, and I wanted a second opinion. The most impressive thing about Moe was he took photos of my brakes and other components in the car and was able to show my husband directly on the car itself what needed repair and why in person. His quote for service was over $600 less than the previous auto shop, and he even did extra details just to be nice. Moe has made a lifetime customer out of me! I trust Harrys Auto Repair and I'm grateful to find an honest mechanic.

Kevin runs a great shop with his father. He was honest, the quote was competitive, and the repair was flawless- his shop even detailed the car after the repair. His shop was quite busy at the time, so I would recommend reaching out early to get your car in the repair queue.

Throughout the past year, I had a couple of excellent experiences here and it's definitely my go-to shop as long as I'm in NYC. Kevin was very helpful with easy communication through both phone calls and WhatsApp. He helped me deal with insurance company confusion and worked out a fair price for me to get my car back on the road after a complicated fix. They are thorough and will show you and explain what's wrong with your car without overcharging you or trying to add extra work. I think trust and competency are a big deal in auto repair. It's hard to choose a shop to work on your car since prices can be high at so many places and you don't know who to trust. There are so many options. For me, I'm happy to go to Harry's Auto.

Great mechanic.My wife had a problem with her car, and she went to three other mechanics, who all tried to sell her a $3000+ part. It didn't seem right to us, but Harry explained that it was a cheap and easy fix, and he was 100% correct.He actually cares about his customers and their cars, isn't trying to cheer anyone out of their money. Can't recommend him enough.

I can t thank Harry enough for always treating me ( 2008 Honda Element ) right, being honest and listening to me when I come in.I moved to Queens several years back - thought I could find another valuable and honest auto shop in my new neighborhood- nah dude - there are no other amazing and reliable shops that actually care about the client as a client and not just a customer.For as long as I live in NYC, I ll be taking all my automotive issues here!

Took our car to them over the course of 6 months and at first we thought they were nice guys but would lie and charge us for things that were fixed , when they weren t repaired correctly. Also they decide their own hours and there s no clarity about which day each specific mechanic will be in so your car couldsit under the BQE for quite a few days before it even starts to get worked on

Kevin and his crew are masters of the craft of mechanics. They are friendly, honest, punctual and LOVE cars. They are also fun to banter with without distracting from the business that needs to get done. I've brought in both luxury vehicle and a vintage car and they make miracles happen, all with a positive attitude. These guys are too awesome. I was lucky enough to have a family of rats move in under my engine, eating away at my entire wire harness. Kevin and his guys helped me out in just a few days at an affordable price. Not only that, when I picked up the car, it had been cleaned inside and out! Highly recommend.

Amazing service!! Highly recommend. They texted me pictures throughout the job so I could see the progress which was very cool. They even stayed super late to get the job done. Had my Wrangler undercoated, alignment, oil change. Really impressed with how well everything turned out. These guys will take amazing care of your car and they are a one-stop-shop for anything you need. So happy I found them and will never go to another shop!

After receiving a ticket for not having my NY Inspection sticker, I was in a bit of a rush to have my inspection scheduled and passed. I drive a fairly new car with work just recently done to it, so I had very little doubt that my car would pass.I called around the area, and the only place that seemed able to take my car in a reasonable timeframe was Harry's Auto Repair. Relieved, I dropped my car off later that afternoon, with the plan being to pick it up the next morning. The person I spoke to on the phone and at the shop was very kind and professional.The next day, I receive a text saying that my car needs $3,000 in work in order for the vehicle to pass. Of course, I was shocked, but also a bit confused. One of the items that stuck out immediately was that I needed my alignment fixed, when in fact I had done that exact work in another repair shop just three weeks earlier. Of course, not being super savvy with vehicles, I assumed maybe something had come loose already. However, as I reviewed the rest of the invoice of proposed work, I noticed they were also going to charge me for THREE new wiper blades. I had just replaced the front wiper blades in the month prior, and additionally, the state of NY does NOT require that you have a rear windshield wiper (mostly because most cars don't even have them!). This small $20 item in itself is what tipped me off to the fact that the people here are not entirely honest, and will try and add items just to jack up the price.So, I took my car away, not having done any work, and contacted the next auto repair shop that I was more familiar with and had used in the past (they weren't available initially due to previously mentioned schedule). $120 later (including inspection), my car was ready to go with a new inspection sticker.Maybe this repair shop saw things that others could not, and if that is the case, kudos to you on your attention to detail. However, if you find yourself in need of auto repair, make sure you TRIPLE check their proposed invoices and do you due diligence to check around, you could end up saving $2800.

I had an excellent experience here today! My Subaru is the first car I've owned in a decade so I was nervous about finding a mechanic. My tensioner pulley was acting up so I called up Harry's. One look at my engine and the guy said multiple parts may need replacement. Called me back later and gave me a totally honest assessment, said the other parts were totally fine, fixed the broken part, checked my tires, checked my fluids, and had my car back to me in two hours for a very reasonable price. I'm so glad I went here and found an honest mechanic! Highly recommended.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I've been coming here for five years. Honest, competent and fair mechanics with excellent customer service. Never charges me for something I don't need. Not a big shop with a waiting room or anything. More of a local spot with low overhead. It took me a long time to find someone I trust in nyc. My car broke down on a road trip and the mechanic wanted to charge me over $1000, I called Harrys and told him what was going on. He knew my car and he told me just to have them replace such and such and and I'd be good. Made it back with no problems. Saved me $700. Good guys. Highly recommended.

The guys here do a great job, and Kevin kept me informed via text about the work they had to do to replace my starter and battery. He sent me an invoice of the prices starters go for. Overall no complaints. The guys are professional.

It's hard to find good, honest mechanics that tell you the truth and don't try to sneak in extra stuff that is unnecessary.I have a V70 Volvo that is nearing 200K miles and they always give it back feeling like new! Moe and Romin are truly awesome. So friendly too. The explain everything in detail. I feel very at ease with these 2 guys and I will keep coming to them as long as I own a car! I recommend them whole heartedly.

Rick the auto mechanic was a very professional . On a Sunday I took my car was making noise From the brake . He showed me the problems and fixed it . Very honest and professional place I'm sure I'll be back again. I recommend it to anybody who's looking so a good mechanic Where you won't be taking advantage off.

Excellent quality work and customer service! For many years we have been searching for a great place to have our Volvo serviced, and after bad experiences at ALL the other "official" Volvo repair shops in/around NYC we finally found this gem right in our neighborhood. We have been to Harry's three times for various repairs over the last year, and each experience has been perfect. They diagnosed (and fixed immediately) a squeaking problem that stymied two other places, among other successes. These guys are intelligent, honest, fair, and extremely helpful. Kevin especially has gone out of his way to make things easy for me -- driving me to the subway or home after I drop off the car, and even delivering it back to my house when finished so I didn't have to walk back over there in the freezing winter with my baby. They always take the time to explain the minute details of each repair, including showing me the relevant parts on my car to help me understand exactly what is going on. I feel totally confident bringing my car to Harry's and highly recommending them to everyone I know.

This business is very honest and not at all trying to rip you off. We spent 75% less than we thought our service might be. We chose Harry's because of reviews we read and after having such nice and thorough upfront service we wanted to leave a review too. Thanks for getting us back on the road to Boston safely!

Great service and knowledgeable folks! Brought in my Audi Q5 with a tricky problem, but they managed to figure it out. And when I picked up the car they had it detailed nicely! Would absolutely recommend!

Great guys- very fast and courteous service. They are really helpful and don't insist on performing work that isn't necessary if you are strapped for cash or want to do minor repair yourself. never felt condescended which is a common occurrence for young women at an auto shop.

Nothing is worse than an owner who won't own up to screwing up.These guys will pass your vehicle off to another shop if they're busy without telling you. They did this to me.These guys might call to tell you the van could have been fixed four days earlier, but they didn't realize it was there. The owner will say this is not his fault because he wasn't personally there at the time.They told me that the van was in good condition, just needed new struts. Then just kinda mentioned after the fact that it needed to get looked at by a transmission guy.So, they basically duped us into dropping a lot of money on a repair job for a vehicle that isn't worth the necessary transmission repair.Dishonest businesses that try to squeeze money wherever they can do so because they don't get business the way others do, by building a reputation and taking responsibility for their work.

Car broke down and I went to the closest place. These people were straightforward, knowledgeable and saved me money by doing extra work I did not pay for. These people are some of the best, nicest, and down to Earth mechanics I have ever met. I cannot recommend them more.

Either malicious or incompetent. Lied to me about what was wrong with my car. Was told the complete opposite from other shops I visited after I thought what they said sounded fishy. Just trying to scam money. Wish shops didn't use this tactic and cost people hundreds or thousands of dollars for no reason.
