I am so pleased with the work at Fred's Auto. From the appointment being made to the final product, the process was seamless. I had my inspection done and we were able to make a game plan for other areas of service that my car needs.Incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff. My husband has been going to Fred's for years, and I'm glad I made the switch with my Subaru. The office staff are friendly and efficient, and they make sure I don't leave without having all my questions answered. (Special shout-out to Christine!) I ordered tires on TireRack and they offered me Fred's Auto Repair as the shop they ship to that is also their local installer. The tires arrived very fast but then the shop said that they can only install them in about two weeks because they are all booked. We couldn't wait this long without using the car, so we had to take the tires and search for another shop to install them as walk-ins, which is never ideal from the liability standpoint. That second shop couldn't do the alignment, so I need to search for someone to do that part. What a waste of time and money. I think if Fred's is so busy that they can't install 4 tires upon delivery, they shouldn't participate in the TireRack program as a local installer. I do not recommend them if you are shipping tires to the area.Service: Tires

Fred s Auto Repair has been my preferred car maintenance location for nearly a decade now. Last summer the a/c in my Honda Accord was blowing cool air on the passenger side and hot air on the driver side. I brought it in to be fixed (approximate cost $490.00). It worked fine for the rest of the summer. Last month I turned on the a/c for the first time and the same problem occurred. Returning to their repair shop they said I now needed a new condenser because the old one leaks total cost approximately $1,200.00. I told them to hold off until I figured out how I want to proceed. Eventually my neighbor told me of a reputable repair shop in town who I called to get a second quote. When I told him my problem much to my surprise he immediately told me that Honda had extended the warranty coverage for all 2018-2020 Accord condensers because of faulty manufacturing material. He suggested I take it to a Honda dealer and have them fix it. I did and the Honda dealer covered the entire cost. So I wonder were they just ignorant of not knowing about the extended warranty or were they aware and did not tell me. I don t know the answer but I do know I would not recommend this business.

Fred and his team have been maintaining my cars for years. They key words here are trust and value. Whether it's simply an oil change or some monumental endeavor -- as I have recently experienced with one of my cars -- the job gets done in a timely, cost-efficient manner.We gave Fred the task of finding a needle-in-a-haystack electrical problem with a van that hadn't been run in years, and he did. I can't say enough about Fred's knowledge, skills, and most of all his honesty and dedication to his customers and their satisfaction. I've been a Fred fan since my late father (a knowledgeable car and airplane mechanic himself) recommended him more than 30 years ago. My Dad would never steer me wrong, and neither would Fred.Kristina always knows what's going on with our cars, recommended service intervals, and has a plain language explanation for everything we have done or that needs doing.I have recommended several people to Fred's Auto Repair, and everyone has raved about his service and fair pricing. I live in NYC and had just dropped my dog off at my mother s house nearby to get on the road for my vacation in Rhode Island; shortly after leaving my mother s house I heard an unfamiliar noise coming from my car. As the car is old, I expected the worst and was sure I wouldn t make it to Rhode Island. Fred s was the closest garage so I pulled in and prayed for the best! I was greeted by a pleasant staff member at the front desk and despite the fact that the mechanics were on their lunch break, they somehow managed to look at my car in a matter of minutes. Good news- it was nothing serious and they even topped off all the fluids while the car was on the lift! I was certain that I would have no spending money for my vacation after this, but they didn t charge me for taking a look! Fred s is a class act and I refer anyone I can there. Many thanks for saving my much needed vacation!

Fred's is simply the best. Everyone who works there is professional, courteous and friendly. I always trust their work and their recommendations for work needed. They only do the absolutely required work and let you know what work may be needed in the future so that you are not surprised at the next appointment.I cannot recommend them more strongly. I've been taking my cars to Fred's for about 30 years and have been very pleased with the service and advice, especially when it comes to deciding what to repair on old cars. I have recommended him to colleagues and found some were already satisfied customers.(Edit) Many years later I'm still taking my cars to Fred's!

After going over what seemed like the 100th pothole on 117 I heard a strange rattling on the right side of my car and knew something was wrong. I drove directly to Fred's where he immediately took a look and saw I had a huge gash in the tire. He said he didn't want me to drive on it at all until it was fixed and when I told him that I needed to pick my son up from school shortly he loaned me his car!!!! No questions asked, just did what he could to keep me and my family safe. He and his team worked on my car replacing the tire and checking out the alignment to make sure there were no other problems and I had the car back within a few hours. Fred, Mike and the rest of the team could not have been kinder or more professional while still making me feel like we were being treated like family. We will never go anywhere else. So far I've had really good experiences at Fred's Auto. Fred's staff is friendly and professional and their process inspires trust which is what everyone wants in a mechanic. They are also very reasonable in terms of price. I was new to the area and needed a mechanic. I read one of these reviews and took a chance on Fred's. Glad I did.

I was at Fred's On November 4, 2019 for my State Inspection and mounting of winter wheels and tires. I'm happy to say "same amazing service and incredible staff". Also, be sure to ask for a free pass to Club Fit, right across the street. Get fit rather than sit while you wait..I have been coming to Fred's Auto Repair since December of 2015 for my tire/wheel management; winter's on/off, and summers off/on etc. My first experience involved mounting new snow tires on new wheels. It became a confounding process with difficult issues, none of which were caused by Fred's staff, but rather with product shipped, Fred was determined to get at the root of the problem and wouldn't give up until it was solved. I left totally satisfied. That kind of determination and commitment to customer satisfaction is worth a lot. Fred's Auto Repair made it into my Contacts and I have no need to look elsewhere.

Warm, friendly, extremely helpful. Have known Fred for years. Christina and Mike continue to be super helpful and patient. In two days I had both my Porsche and Subaru serviced. I spoke with Christina at least three times about my Subaru and each time she was able to explain what needed to be done and answered my questions. I brought my 11 year old Audi A4 to Fred's Auto Repair Shop this morning. The car's exhaust system seemed to be shedding oil and fumes and beginning to make a noise. I wanted to know whether the repair was worth the cost in the case of a car with over 140,000 miles. I was greeted by Ken who called on Fred. Both gentlemen were simply friendly and eager to help. Fred put the car on the rack and invited me to join him under the car as he walked me through the sources of the problem and when he was done he offered a recommendation for a nearby repair shop that specializes in muffler repair. I followed Fred's generous and gracious advice and got the job done cost effectively. Ironically, I am eager to have a problem with one of our cars that Fred might address. I love these guys. Fred is terrific and knowledgeable. He has been our mechanic since we moved here in January 2002. He's worked with us through all (four) of our Subarus. I can't speak highly enough about Fred and his staff.Take your car here-you won't be sorry.

Fred has done a great job with my car. I have been there 4 times (for various oil changes, inspections, and now to replace the tires. The service is first class, and importantly, Fred is honest and tells you what you really need (and what you don't need). He also provides reminders (via email) of when it is time to change your oil.
