Manny and Cathy were SO attentive and friendly and helpful. They explained what was going on at every step of the way and gained my trust with the explanations and involving me in choices of which brands to use to replace certain elements of my car. They always explained the pros and cons of each choice.I just moved to the area and they have definitely become my go-to mechanic. 10/10 recommend!

My daughter recently relocated from New Orleans to Beacon for a new job. Unfortunately, soon after arriving, she experienced a back injury and hospitalization. I flew up to help her and, among other tasks, I was determined to get an NY inspection sticker on her somewhat beat up 2008 4Runner before I returned home. Several garages told me I d have to wait a few weeks before I could get an inspection appointment - Verplanck was booked also but when I told them my situation they figured a way to fit me in next day. Further, they had to order a new rear view mirror in order to give the vehicle a sticker. This was hard to get but, with considerable hustle, they got the mirror, installed it and gave me the inspection sticker only hours before I had to head to LaGuardia to fly home. Their service was thorough and very reasonably priced. Equally important, they were kind and considerate - the kind of good neighbor shop that really benefits a community. As I flew home, it was a great relief to know that when my daughter fully recovered she would have her car ready for the road. I never write reviews, but these folks earned this one. Better service than I expected! I brought the car in for a repair and inspection they repaired my car and checked the car completely and let me know how much brake pad was left and that I needed spark plugs. I am very appreciative. The charge for the work was affordable and well worth the cost

Hands down the best auto mechanic experience I have had and I plan to go to them from now on! As a young woman with barely any knowledge of cars, the mechanic can be intimidating but Manny and Kathy were friendly, kind, respectful and most importantly thoroughly explained to me what was going on with my vehicle without pressure or fear mongering. Highly recommend them to anyone!

I've been looking for the right mechanic around Beacon for years. Found them today. They run an honest, quality business at Verplanck. Fair prices, honest assessments, not trying to Nickel and Dime you and giving good guidance. Had a really great experience. I wish I got the woman's name who answers the phones and assists while you are in the shop- she is who sold me on referring my friends here and who will keep me coming back. Such a warm and pleasant interaction, and took the time to answer some additional questions I had. I am relieved I have a reliable auto shop that I can go to going forward.

Recently took my car in for an oil change and NY state inspection. The work was done promptly and at a fair price as is my usual experience with them. Verplank auto is an honest local; family, business which offers great service for your vehicle as well as great customer service. They are in high demand but have been able to take care of me when my car broke down and had to be towed. They make the necessary repairs and may give a "heads-up " about issues which may arise "down the road" so you can plan for larger expenses. They are down to earth, good people who stand by their work.

Went in to get my starter replaced. Upon inspection, I was told that my air filter and cabin filter were not only dirty, but completely clogged and needed to be replaced along with a serpentine belt. The cabin filter was replaced by myself just a month prior and definitely wasn t clogged, the serpentine belt was replaced earlier that year and my air filter is a k&n which is good for the life time of the car and just needs to be cleaned routinely. I would definitely be wary of being up sold here with things that you don t need.

Would definitely recommend this place. I called yesterday because my heat shield was dragging and even though they were incredibly busy they were kind enough to fit me in and fixed the problem at a very fair price. I had an exhaust problem on an old car and Verplanck Auto corrected it honestly and expertly. I also got a NYS inspection. The work was done quickly and I was kept up-to-date on status and given an accurate estimate of the cost...which beat what I would have paid elsewhere. This is a family-owned and run local business. Manny and Kat are a wonderful duo running the shop and doing good work. If you are looking for free coffee and a waiting room, go pay for that at the dealer. Ok, folks, I know many of you love this place. I have not had good experiences here, the owner does not treat women well. I was emailing them about an inspection appt, got one, needed to change it, they said to call, and when I called, the man said he had no record of me, and I was obviously calling the wrong place, who was I trying to contact? We finally got that figured out (it was his wife emailing me back), then he told me all of these things that WOULD be wrong with my car before even looking at it, based on the carfax. Treated me like I knew nothing. There was a man behind me in line, he treated him SO differently than he treated me. Then he called, told me I had $2k worth of fixes to do. (Needless to say, the stuff he said that WOULD be wrong from the carfax was not mentioned again). I did the minimum to pass inspection, took it to Ed s instead, he couldn t even find the spewing oil leak the owner was talking about. He fixed what needed fixing for $289. Not $2k. Anyway. The chauvinistic behavior makes me not want to ever go back there. I will say, though, Andrew and the others who work there are amazing people, and this has nothing to do with them or their work.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

Reliable and friendly local mechanic and his team here in Beacon. Was recommend to me when I first moved here and has always been effective at diagnosing my cars' problems and resolving them. Charges reasonable prices and performs quick turnarounds. Also, if you have a Mazda, look no further. I love Verplanck Auto. Honest and good. Fast and responsive. I've used them ever since I moved here. For brakes, inspections, oil changes. My wife and I both take our car here. They are honest, in line/fair with pricing, and we never feel like we have to worry about them trying up sell us or get us to do things that are not necessary. I am so glad and relieved to have found Verplank Auto and it s owner, Manny! I totally trust him, his rates are reasonable. The shop does does excellent work. And they ve fixed some tricky problems for me. Verplanck Auto is the most customer friendly auto repair shop we have ever used - and in our late 70s we have used many throughout the country. Manny and his excellent staff are both knowledgeable and able to explain car issues clearly to non-auto experts like us. Prices are reasonable and the timeline is always efficient. A parasitic drain on my battery caused it to be dead every few days brought to Verplank shop to have repaired ..$2000 later it never was repaired ..Brought to a competent mechanic who found the problem ..fixed it and explained Verplank had created more problems by putting a switch in ..constant misfires . In addition, made clear to me by competent mechanic was that I had been ripped off . There was never a need for a cluster or brakes .Would never recommend this shop to anyone.Services: Brakes, Auto maintenance

Verplank Auto is great local car repair service. All the people there are helpful and courteous. Manny will always give you an honest estimate and try hard to give you sensible options for your car repairs. They just repaired my exhaust system and did it for less than I expected. They understood that my otherwise well repaired car with 330K miles on it didn't need an expensive exhaust system.

Manny and Kathy run the Hudson Valley s very best shop! Manny even got on a teleconference with my guest s mechanic in DC when her car broke down here; I m not sure others would come through like that. Prices are fair. You get solid information to make your own decisions. Verplanck Auto is absolutely incredible. Honesty and integrity go a long way !!! Manny and his team are top notch. I recently sent a friend into Verplanck Auto. She was told by a different garage that she needed a new transmission. Manny diagnosed the vehicle and it turned out to be a relatively minor and inexpensive repair. Last week I needed brakes desperately. My spare vehicle was in need of a starter. Manny fixed both vehicles in a timely fashion and his rate was much cheaper than the dealership. I trust the good people at Verplank. We are LUCKY to have them here in Beacon.

I don't know about everyone else, but when I go to a new autobody shop, I hold my breath. Definitely wasn't needed after taking my car to Verplanck Auto. This is a local "mom and pop" type business with Manny and Kathy at them helm. The two of them and the rest of the staff are very, very friendly and give a personal touch. My car was getting checked out because it was making a squeak/rattling sounds when I would press on the break, so it was concerning to say the least. I wasnt sure how big the bill would be and what would be needed because I am no "car guy". I got a call the day I brought it in from Kathy and Manny and they let me know the issues and what should be done and what could be done but wasn't necessary. Very refreshing to have someone give you the brass tax and give you options and educate you while not trying to take advantage.There is no doubt that I am going to bring my car back here, and you shouldn't hesitate either.Services: Wheel alignment, Brakes
