Really nice.Spacious room, and bathroom, and nicely decorated. Cool bar. We ate dinner here both nights, and the food was quite good. Breakfast is minimalist, but there are two breakfast places w/in a couple blocks: one diner-style place for pancakes and the like, the other a more hipster cafe for avocado toast or breakfast burritos (recommended). Unfortunately, we were here the weekend after the ferry stopped running for the season; that would have been neat. Would stay here again.

We stayed here for a long weekend, and it was perfect! The place is restored beautifully, the rooms are large and airy, and the bathroom was really comfortable. It s in a great location, right across from the waterfront and 15 minutes to Warren Street in Hudson. We had dinner at the cafe on two of our nights and it was lovely! The outdoor setup is beautiful, and for a rainy Sunday, the indoor area was perfect. There was live music, everyone was really friendly and helpful and the vibe was perfect. Cute little breakfast setup (coffee, yogurt, granola, fruit and a pastry), and there is a great cafe (Rooster) up the block, for a more substantial meal. Overall, adorable and a perfect weekend getaway. We ll definitely be back!Rooms: Large, comfortable, beautifully decorated.Walkability: It s right on the main road, and you can walk to a cafe, bread place, wine shop and restaurants. Also there s a waterfront park right across the street.

Only tried their restaurant and wow it was good. We had oysters and then the fish and chips and pasta. Everything was excellent. +1 for the Parmesan truffle fries Very romantic setting also.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend to attend a wedding nearby. The contactless check in was perfect for our late arrival. Audrey was kind enough to upgrade us to a more romantic room upon request when there was availability. The building is absolutely stunning and has been meticulously renovated. Small details like a bath bomb placed next to the in room soaking tub, breakfast nook with windows eating , and gorgeous linens made for a luxurious stay. Portions at the in-house restaurant were generous and freshly prepared. It is definitely pricey, but well worth the splurge for a quick get away.

Small town. Friendly atmosphere in town. Have to drive to see anything. Perfect spot for a laid back weekend. No view and rooms are walkup.Rooms: Nice enough. Not luxury but comfortable.

We wish we could give 6 stars because they were so, so fast and the food was excellent. We ordered lobster rolls and drinks and it arrived in 10 mins check came quickly too. It was a rainy day but there was a small crowd and we sat inside in the tavern (beautiful restaurant which also has a nice private dining room). We re excited to come back and sit outside on the river dock. See you then!

I LOVED the Stewart House! It was absolutely beautiful, and I could not stop raving about the decor. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but they're unique - a mix of modern touches with antiques. The breakfast/tea/coffee bar was wonderful, and I could tell that a lot of thought was put into it. Everything was gourmet, from the yogurt to the homemade granola. The restaurant/bar had good food and good drinks. The ambiance was wonderful as well. The town of Athens is quiet but it is a great location. The hotel is right on the river and provides nice views. Athens provides a great launching place for exploring the area as it is a quick drive to Catskill, Hudson, skiing, etc. It was great that we were able to bring our dog, who also had a lovely time.

When you come to this area you expect old and quaint. Here you also get spacious and clean. It has systemic problems like old houses do.The constant sound of the kitchen pots and door banging closed from the restaurant beneath, heard from every room, used to service their grille across the road, ceased when it got late. But prevented an afternoon nap and was annoying every 90 seconds in prime time. That could be rectified with an updated door but wasn't.The room to room sound carries through the ac vents, nothing abnormal, just there.Priced right, not a value, well located. I wouldn't discourage you. This whole area is old. But, so are Hudson, NY and Lenox, MA and some places there don't have these issues.

The River Grill on the water is so much fun! Had my birthday there this year. They always take great care of us. They have a dock to tie up your boatFood & drinks: Incredible ribs cooked outside on a wood-fired grill

This is a lovely little hotel. We booked at the last minute, and ended up in Room 8 - a charming top floor room with river views and a tub in the room. The bed was *very* comfortable. The downstairs tavern is closed for the summer they ve moved outside across the street while the weather is warm. It can contribute to the building feeling a little empty, but the outdoor bar is awesome, and the food is good. Our only caveat travellers should be aware of is that the Athens - Hudson ferry is currently only running fri/sat/sun and the last ferry back from Hudson leaves at 9pm. They re super friendly though, and hopefully the service expands.

The restaurant and bar experience is a must. On Thursdays when they have music, don't sleep on it! The talent is unbelievable! I got the lamb chops most recently and my mom got the ribeye, both cooked perfectly. The service is great and the bartender makes a perfect traditional cocktail! Always consistent perfect negroni 's!!! The ambience is so relaxing and unique. The owners and the general manager are just plain awesome humans and they care about each customer that comes in, and it shows. There are different salt and pepper shakers on each table which adds character and is different. I've yet to stay in the Hotel as I reside in the village.Oh yeah the oysters are some of the best I've ever had. Plump and juicy with just enough salinity. They are now open early on Sunday which is a dream come true.

We had an awesome weekend getaway at the Stewart house. Room was charming and perfectly clean. Food was delicious from the included breakfast to fun cocktails and elevated tavern food. Excellent room service as well with a cheese board and wine pairing. Perfect location for hiking and upscale relaxation! The service was awesome and we felt super comfortable and at home.

We had reservations for 2 for dinner on a Saturday night. The experience was underwhelming. There was no host/hostess when we walked in. After about 10 minutes we asked the bartender about being seated and she sat us at a random open table games us menus and rushed back to the packed bar. The server that served us after that was nice but when she first came to the table it was abundantly clear she had just had a smoke break. She was friendly but her service was slow as she appeared to be one of only two servers. The food we ordered tasted good but was overpriced for the quality. They also add a 4% kitchen appreciation fee so that made it even more overpriced. Overall we spent well over $100 and we were genuinely disappointed in the experience. Unfortunately we won't be returning here to eat again.

This was the perfect place to unwind and spend a quiet Anniversary! The Bed and breakfast was amazing as was the staff! Bed was super comfortable, quiet and clean just as we hoped! The restaurant was an awesome surprise, the food was beyond delicious and our server Helen left us wanting for nothing! Adrian the bartender beyond helpful and friendly! Molly is the perfect housekeeper and she went out of her way to be friendly and make sure we had anything we need it!Audrey kept in touch and give us all the information we need it to check in and find anything we need. I can not wait to come back!!! Not to me too. Dinner was beyond delicious and the open Mic night was sooo much fun! Can t wait to come back!

The perfect place for a weekend getaway. A gorgeous location right on the river. The restaurant, bar and staff are all amazing! We loved all the stylish accents in the room and thoughtful, top quality touches throughout. The breakfast nook overlooking the town is my favorite spot! There you ll find the best granola I ve ever had. Highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a luxurious but peaceful weekend away with someone special, and even by yourself.

Went for open mic night. Had a great time. Loved all the musicians and the music. Felt like a great big family. The ambiance was beautiful. The menu and bar menu were great, not your typical bar food. Even better!Food & drinks: Very good menu, and the food was delicious! Very friendly staff, we enjoyed our evening there very much.

My fiance booked Stewart House for a weekend as he was planning to propose. The house, the location, and the staff were immeasurably perfect, romantic and cozy. They made us feel safe by providing many thoughtful precautions in the pandemic, meaning we could comfortably have a luxurious weekend away. The River Grille is an amazing bonus area to the house, as is the river park across the street - we spent almost as much time waterfront as we did in our room. The rest, we spent exploring the Catskills and hiking from our beautiful nearby base. The rooms are clean, rustic, and appointed just-so - every room is unique. The in-room breakfasts were tasty, parking on-street was so easy, and the town of Athens is a tiny gem.The staff was attentive and because it's small, we felt totally catered to.

This review is for the bar and restaurant at The Stewart House. We met friends from Albany here for dinner as it is midway between where we all live. We saw the excellent reviews but were still unsure what to expect. Well, we could NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PLEASED!!! Both the bar area and the dining room space are absolutely gorgeous and have a cozy, friendly feel all around. Every person we encountered was extremely pleasant and welcoming! My husband and I live in an area near the Culinary Institute of America so we're fortunate enough to have many great restaurants nearby. Well, the restaurant at the Stewart House would give any one of them a run for their money!! Everything was absolutely delicious from start to finish - Cocktails, salads, appetizers, main courses and desserts! We each tried something different and not one of us was disappointed! Rather, we left there saying we will absolutely, positively meet there again - and we will!! I highly recommend the restaurant/bar at the Stewart House!

Cute, spacious and charming hotel across the river from Hudson. We got a last minute room here for the weekend and it was just what we needed for a getaway. 15 min from Hudson and the Catskills, not expensive like other hotels and Airbnbs in the area, kind and attentive staff with contactless check-in. Very happy with our room - large room, comfortable bed, renovated hotel but preserved historic touches.

The food here is always very imaginative fresh and tasty, but the main attraction for me is the coziness. The bar area has a friendly local vibe and if you want a little privacy to talk with your partner you can also eat in dining area. My favorite spot on the waterfront

The Stewart House is incredibly charming and cozy, and the perfect quiet getaway from the city. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are so comfortable! Having breakfast and coffee in the cozy nook really makes you feel right at home. The staff is very friendly and the food at the restaurant is fresh and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning in the near future. Highly recommend!

Good food! Almost unexpectedly good. Everyone found something they enjoyed, even the kids (who spent most of the time waiting for dinner at the riverside park across the street ;)

Very clean and nicely decorated place. 15 min from Hudson by car. I d recommend booking the rooms with a soaking tub. There s a nice park across the street great if you have a pet. I left my make up case there and Audrey promptly responded and made arrangements to mail it back.

Dinner with family at The Stewart House on a midwinter night was a perfect evening. It is a beautifully preserved, historic hotel, inside and out. The bar and restaurant are warm and inviting. The cocktails were excellent, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The new owners have done an amazing job.

The Stewart House is amazing! Stayed there with five others and we had a lovely visit to Athens and the surrounding area, including Hudson. The rooms at the Stewart House are vintage chic and so spacious!! The decorating touches are beautiful and breakfast that was included was delicious with fresh berries, homemade granola and yogurt. The Stewart house bar and restaurant were equally amazing with creative cuisine and drinks that were all spot on. Kudos to the chef and all the servers! The owners of the Stewart House really made us feel welcome and paid attention to every detail during our stay. We will definitely return to the Stewart House and highly recommend it for dinner and or a stay. You will love it!!

My first time there. Went for dinner and to hear a musician we follow. Great bar area, very spacious and restored nicely. Walls were actually canvas covered and hand painted, service was excellent. My food was very good. Show was excellent. I look forward to warmer weather as it appears they have an outside area also.

The restaurant is very neat and the service was great. The meal was wonderful but the dessert was not. I got the shortbread with lemon curd. The shortbread was covered in SALT! I've made shortbread recipes and have read many more but I have never heard of covering the cookie in salt. I asked the hostess and her response was that's the way Chef likes to do it. Aside from the awful dessert, it was very good.

I have recently moved to Germantown from Brooklyn with my husband and two small children. We have been going to Stewart House on occasion and have fallen in love with the restaurant and the welcoming staff, including the very loving owners. Coming from a place where having small children felt like a burden, bringing our toddlers in to the Stewart House seems to be an absolute treat to the staff and patrons. That all being said, the food and beverages are top notch. My husband and I have been 10 times and every time we have had an outstanding meal and service. We are so happy to know that the Stewart House is close by so we can treat ourselves to a lovely meal and atmosphere! Thank you SH!
