I came across George and John about 3 years ago when I started a slow rolling restore on my two older Mercedes, a 190E from 1991 and a 300TE from 1992.Among other things we did an engine replacement, suspension overhaul, several rounds of maintenance and more. George and John are expert mechanics who are quick and sure in diagnostics (obviously on older cars without any computer analytics) they can tell what s wrong by hearing the engine and they always have the solution. They re great in emergencies, of which I had a fair share, (complete breakdown of the brake system among other things) and are fast in helping you get back on the road.They re responsible and meticulous and practical, keeping costs down and pricing their services very fair.By far my best experience in repair and maintenance service in over 45 years on the road.Great shop!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Engine repair, Auto maintenance

Found this place on Google and gave them a call because of their 5 star reviews. I needed new front rotors and brakes for my car and was quoted approximately $2,500 including labor by the guy who I assume is the owner. Sounded better than the $3,500 the dealership wanted, so I agreed.My car uses Brembo rotors and they cost around $800 online, so the shop was making an additional 500 by selling them to me, and I was okay with that. What I wasn't okay with was being lied to. I asked the owner to make sure the rotors are Brembo, and he said "of course". A few days after getting the car back I decide to get a better look at the rotors and found out he sold me some Chinese aftermarket rotors that sell online for $400 each. In total, I got scammed by this place for over $1,500 and now I'm driving a high end sports car with brake parts from China...I highly advise you to not use this shop. If for whatever reason you do end up here, PLEASE ask them to provide you with an itemized invoice so you can check the price of each individual part to make sure they aren't ripping you off. On top of that, since they blatantly lied to me about the parts they installed, I suggest asking them for the box of the new parts so you can confirm they bought the correct item.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Great shop. John, George and their crew are polite, welcoming, clear, good and honest mechanics. Brought my European car to them because I needed to change timing belt, serpentine belt, and front links. European cars are their specialty, so, contrary to other shops (and to the very expensive, cold, and suspicious dealerships), they knew exactly how to approach the job from the beginning. They worked on my car quickly and precisely.John gave me a quote for the full job during our first chat, and him and George honored it throughout the process, even after I asked them to check out a couple extra things. And, to be clear, the quote included parts and labors, and it was absolutely reasonable. I couldn't be happier right now: my car feels basically new (even if it isn't!) and I have found a trustworthy mechanic to go to -- honest and reliable. I will certainly go back to them for my future car needs.

Love this place. George is a great guy and his mechanics do good work. I bring my Mercedes E320 CDI here from time to time when I need some work done and I've never had a problem. The prices are fair and George might give you a free cigar or maybe you could bring him one.

The best mechanics for German vehicles hands down. Very swift, no time wasted! started working on my vehicle as soon as I brought it in, (call in advance for best times to come in) Shoutout to George for being transparent with everything A++ will forever be a loyal customer

Professional, responsive, and fast service from these guys. They charged a fair price on a new turbo and did a wonderful job. Turnaround in 3 days! Very grateful for John, George, and their crew - I will go back for future car service needs!

My daughter's car overheated on her way back from her work in Manhattan. Brought the car to German auto care. Having twice used them and the proximity of the breakdown. George the owner kept the car for 3 days of diagnostics and determined that it needed a water pump. At completion we paid him $1000 cash, and took the car back. A day later I received a call from my daughter notifying me that the car was again overheating. We nursed the car back to George and 2 more days of diagnostics replaced 2 modules and told us that the car was ready and assured us that the problem is solved. We retrieved the car and hoped that this was finally over. The following day the car overheated on her way into work once again. We decided to end this ground hog day and. The following day was spent retrieving the car by the side of the LIE and had it towed to a shop on L.I. where they determined that the radiator cap a $5 dollar item was faulty. They charged me $125 for diagnostic, parts and labor. I let some time pass before I notified George and told him of the successful repair by others and asked him to consider refunding at least the cost of the parts that were replaced when not necessary and we received a nasty "NO", without any explanation His incompetency should be very apparent. I never argued the price and paid him when asked. And we re talking about a Toyota Avalon not a fancy German import. Think twice before you make a decision to use George. And don t be so quick to part with your $. Good luckService: Auto engine diagnostic

I have been going to German Auto for the last 15 years for my ML 350. They are the best actually. The car dealership that I used to go to would charge me even for rubber gloves that they use. George, one of the owners at this place, always gives the best advise. Thank God they are NOT GREEDY like the dealership. My first visit to German Auto Care and it most certainly will not be my last. George popped open the hood and impressed me by refilling the much needed windshield wiper fluid before even getting started with diagnosis and estimate. He just saw it needed to be done and so done it was. By the time he gave me some very clear thoughts on what needed to be done for my 22 year old car to keep it from breaking down on the road at any given moment, I was all ears, as I was as he imparted some good life philosophy upon picking up the car. Good guy, clear and patient and the car was back on the road. Can't recommend this placed enough!

I brought in my car at my regular dealer for service and they came back with an astronomical bill needing to replace several items stating holes in valve etc. I brought it into German Auto for a second opinion and these guys were nothing but professional and honest. It turned out that a few items did in fact need to be replaced such as control arms, however they did it for a much lesser cost than what I was quoted. I also needed new tires and they recommended me to one of their colleagues where after comparing four different places in the area including Costco nobody could beat the price. John and George have gained a new customer by doing the right thing and I would recommend them to anyone that values their car and a dealer that they can trust.

These guys are awesome!!! I've gotten all of my cars serviced here. They're honest, reliable and they always come through even at last minute's notice. I've been coming here for years with my BMWs and Nissan. Always cheaper than the dealer and always uses OEM parts. Customer service is unmatched! John and George are the best! Highly recommended!

What a great find! Was selling my car and needed some work done fast and John/George were able to get me in. The guys even stayed late to finish to make sure I had my car to drive home to sell the next morning. My Audi was in good hands, and if you have Audi/BMW/Porsche you shouldn't think twice about coming here. Price was reasonable and everything was transparent. Would recommend this shop

Don't walk run to this place. I bought a 2003 Mercedes Benz E320 and it needed a lot of work mechanically and some cosmetic work. I started at a dealership and realized I was being deeply gouged. I researched and found German Auto Care. George is a Godsend! Great personality. He's very honest and beyond fair. He made the experience very pleasant and positive. He sent photos and video of damages along with after photos. George was in contact with me daily . I knew where the car was in all stages. He did all that needed to be done for much less than the dealership had quoted. The end result is a car that looks exquisite and drives like a dream! Looks and handles like a new car! It came out far beyond what I imagined. I can't thank him enough. He took care of every aspect of the repairs down to the bodywork and having the car detailed. Just amazing!

George and the other guys at German Auto Care will work with you, not against you. I have gotten my car repaired there several times now and its always quick and done well. I have an 83 diesel Mercedes. George and John treat my car as if it was their own. They are reliable, quick, honest, and fair. I ve used them big and small jobs. They know exactly what they re doing, they offer great service and peace of mind. They will be my mechanics for as long as I own a German car.

Thank god I came to George! I originally went to another shop because my oil light on my BMW was on. They were trying to charge me $1400 because my valve cover gasket was leaking and they wanted to replace the whole valve cover as well. I took my car out of there and brought it to German Auto Care! The owner George took a look at my car and said the gasket isn t ruined and I have 4-5 months left before replacing. I ended up just needing more oil!! George could have taken advantage of the moment like the other shop did but he was an honest man!! DEFINITELY coming back here for all my car troubles! It s so hard trying to find honest mechanics that aren t trying to rip you off for a quick buck.

Had to get air conditioning unit serviced, air suspension had a hole in tank and air shocks replaced. Also motor and transmission mounts installed. Locking system in rear passenger door as well as trunk lock broken The management at German Auto Care treated me like family and made my repair experience one of the best ever. My 2009 Mercedes C300 had water in the floorboards and every warning alert was going off. Went here and George immediately knew what the problem was before I even brought the car over. They took care of that problem perfectly. He also found a host of problems that my previous mechanic never saw. He walked me through everything and showed me when the car was on the lift the problems with my own eyes. He explained everything simple enough for a non-mechanic to understand. The car runs better than when i first bought it. They treat you like a friend, they treat you with respect, and they re open and honest with you. If you own a German import this is the only shop you should be taking it too. Don t be fooled by the few negative reviews you see here. I brought my 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS500 here for an oil filter housing replacement and front and rear mounts and could not be happier! John and the boys did quality work at a very fair price and got my car back on the road fast and driving like new. John is extremely knowledgeable and clearly has an abundance of experience with cars. His passion for what he does is evident and I would trust him with my car anytime without hesitation!

Brought my Audi A7 here after I dented it and these guys fixed it up perfectly. Cost a fraction of what the Audi service center was trying to charge and George and John went above and beyond, making it as good as new and buffing the whole car for us! Would come straight here the next time I have any issues and would recommend these guys to anyone!

George and John are truly the best the work that was done was above and beyond and the price was very reasonable. I own a 2001 BMW and I've had bad experiences with mechanics. I'm so glad I found German Auto care no one else will ever touch my car.

I have been taking my 1998 Mercedes ML320 to German Auto Care for the past three years and have never had anything but top notch service from the gentlemen that work there. George the owner takes a personal approach to doing business and it shows as he is always fair, transparent, and gives value for the work that he does. Finding a good honest mechanic in NYC is no easy feat, rest assured based on my experiences the last three years with George look no further because this is the place to take your luxury or German automobile. My last visit was this past Monday 5/4/2020 as the belt had broken the previous Sunday night on my car. George got back to me first thing Monday morning, and my car was fixed and ready to go by 10:30 am. Not to mention this turnaround was in the midst of the current pandemic. Highly Recommend

After waiting there for almost 30 minutes to speak to someone, the manager finally decided to talk to me. Pointed my finger to the car and quickly told "come back in 3 weeks!" then turned around! My car needs repairs, NOT a beauty parlor appointment!

I would have given 5 stars, I only had my first service with them. I like the shop, the professionalism, and the customer service so far. They seem like an above and beyond shop. I will go there for now on, and I will raise this to 5 stars.

I recently brought my car (2005 VW Jetta) to German Auto Care because I was having electrical problems, and also needed an oil change. George was welcoming, easy going, and discussed everything that he felt needed to be done before he started work. To make matters even better, German Auto Care also charged an amazingly fair price. I won't hesitate to keep bringing my car whenever problems arise, as I know that I will be treated fairly and with respect.Keep up the great work!
