Original review is below but this is an update.BRK rebuilt a high performance 454 BBC for my 69 El Camino 2 years ago. I had a very hard time keeping the engine cool. Replaced the radiator with a high performance Cold Case then replaced the mechanical fan with 2 high performance electric Durales. Even then it was difficult on hot days at a traffic light. I started to see coolant leaking from the new radiator but couldn t see exactly where it was coming from. A few months ago I started it up in the driveway and noticed coolant dripping from the starter. It was coming from the head gasket. I immediately towed it to the shop and pulled the engine and took it to a local shop to investigate. One cylinder had been sleeved but I was not told and it was not flush with blockBlock had not been decked and the new Aluminum Brodix BB2+ Heads were warpedVisual evidence of no positive head gasket contact in several locations. I have pictures to prove it. The cheapest head gasket material was used which was mind blowing.Head gasket was blown on the rear passengers sideWater pump gasket blownBrand new Cold Case radiator rupturedEngine Repair Cost $1,860Remove and Replace $2,500New Cold Case radiator $400Towing fees $120Total cost of repair $4,880Original Post:Brian is the most knowledgeable mechanic professional I have ever used. Turned a gen IV 454 into a rocket engine for my 69 el Camino. I only have about 150 miles on it and trying to break it in slow but I can t even hardly touch the peddle without having to worry about breaking the tires loss in a corner.I m now the envy of everyone around me and my online group. This is the best money I have ever spent on building something truly fun and exciting! I have 4 boys and 3 girls who all want to build their next car. Look forward to helping them and wouldn t even think about sending our engines anywhere else!Service: Motor building

I don't usually write reviews but after my experience with BRK, I felt I should share. Brian's knowledge and customer service is excellent. He went out of his way to help me before I ever purchased anything from him. When I did purchase from BRK, Brian again went above and beyond to understand exactly what I needed and made sure to see the job through to completion. Even more surprising was his follow up after the job to make sure everything was as it should be. Excellent shop and excellent customer service. I'll definitely be a return customer and would recommend BRK to everyone.

I'd leave less than one star if I could. I don't know if they are even still in business, but my experience a few years ago was a series of worst-case scenarios.I was rebuilding an LT1 small block into a 383, and decided to try a local place for the machine work. I just needed a bore/hone, balancing, and rod bolt clearancing, as I was doing rings/assembly myself. When I got home, I set the crank in the block, and discovered a counterweight clearly hit the pan rail. There was no way it had ever been checked.Brian, the owner, was apologetic and claimed they mistakenly called me for pickup after the bore/hone before the clearancing was performed, and that they would fix it that night. The second time I got it home, the crank rotated, so I proceeded with assembly. I got 6 of the 8 pistons/rods installed when I discovered the last pair of rod bolts hit the pan rail. With my progress stopped again, I checked a few of the others and discovered the clearance were enough to rotate while on the stand, but less than the required amount for a running engine.Despite my better judgement, Brian begged me to bring it back, claiming some new guy made the mistake, and that he would personally do the whole shortblock assembly himself for free. When I picked up the shortblock from him the following day, what I saw was appalling. He never re-started the build as planned, but instead kept the 6 pistons in that I had assembled, and simply worked around them. It had been assembled on their open shop floor where other grinding and cleaning of used parts took place. He ground down the tops of my ARP rod bolts rather than finish clearancing the block. He used dirty bare hands to check and re-install a backwards bearing, and then torqued it down in one yank, vs 3 sets of incremental steps from side to side. He didn't even react to the horrified look on my face, and just walked away, leaving me to load it into my truck myself, happy with his work.I had to break the engine down, re-clean and re-do most of the work for a 4th time to even make it usable.
