Excellent mechanic who knows what he's talking about. Noticed our transmission pan leaking when we'd just had an inspection done with no one even mentioning it before - but was able to easily and readily show exactly what was happening.

I ve been using Schoolhouse Auto as my primary service station for almost two years. Kenta, the owner, is the most trustworthy mechanic I ve ever met. He goes above and beyond in whatever he does, double checking everything before he lets you leave. He is extremely safety conscious.His prices are very reasonable and he always keeps your budget in mind.He s an amazing asset to the neighborhood and I m so glad to know such a reputable person.

I was greeted by a Male employee. I needed a photo inspection of my car for Geico insurance. He was nice, efficient.

I made an appointment to have my car inspected (they are a NY State Inspection location); Kenta was fantastic. He really runs a tight ship, wears many hats and he is just great. My car was in and out in under an hour; he even put on my plates and my stickers for me. Highly recommend (but, call to make an appointment, this man is BIZZY!) Gold Star!

Kenta ! Is the most trustworthy person I ve ever dealt with ! He doubles and triple checks every car! I have sat there and watch how he goes over a car. He is a amazing person he makes sure my daughters cars are perfect!

Best auto shop ever ! I ve been living out here for 7 years and I finally found a mechanic that understands. The quality and service provide is amazing. Kenta and Carlos are super professional with exceptional customer service. As I waited for my car, I watched as they serviced customers. Each customer left with a smile thoroughly pleased. When my car was done I was overjoyed because the work was very detailed because it was not easily accessible to work on. They left no stone unturned as they repaired my vehicle and suggested great upgrades to enhance my vehicle. Fabulous fabulous fabulous!!!This shop gets 5 stars with 2 thumbs up. Almost died due to his negligence. Man forgot to tighten 4 out of the 5 lug nuts on my wheel... do not come here

Made an appointment for the next day to get my headlight bulb changed. Walked in and they asked for my keys and already knew what was good. They got me in and out in less than 30 minutes. Very quick and organized auto shop. Fair about prices and up front. Comfy lounge area to wait out your service. asked for a quote for a later brake service and got an immediate quote too. Definitely going back here for any and all repairs/maintenance. I m new to the area and glad I found a good mechanic shop that does me right.

I'm so glad I found Schoolhouse Auto. I've had two experienced with them in the last couple of months (my car's getting old!) and both have been great. I am SO IMPRESSED with this place. The man who helped me (whose name, I have since learned, is Kenta - and he is also the owner) did an inspection on my car, which was long overdue for one. I expected that he would find all sorts of things wrong with it, since that is what I am used to from other shops. I was shocked when he told me there was nothing else that needed fixing, and that it had passed inspection without issue. I also asked him to check the oil to see if I needed an oil change. He did so, and told me it didn't! I don't think I've ever met an auto mechanic who passed up the opportunity to do an oil change and charge me for it. He even secured the bumper for me, which I had knocked a little out of place (unfortunate incident involving a column in a parking garage back in March - oooops). It was sticking out a bit, and he managed to get it back into place and told me that to truly get it fixed, I would need a new bumper (which he doesn't do there), but that leaving it the way it is for now won't cause any further damage to the car. (Good thing, since I definitely can't afford a new bumper!)All of this cost me less than I'd expected! This man is a true gentleman and believes in actual customer service. He is friendly and personable. Also, everything was done quickly and thoroughly, as far as I could tell.My husband and I will definitely be bringing our cars here from now on whenever they need repairs.Service: Vehicle Inspection

These guys went above and beyond! When my headlight was broken they saw me at the end of the day, and stayed well after close to get the right bulb. They were very polite and kind, and didn't charge extra, making sure it was something I could afford. They are absolutely the best, and clearly have hearts if gold. I will definitely be coming back!

Was told the shop charges reasonable rate. Oh boy, I was so wrong. Skip these guys. I had to pay $165 for a light bulb change!! Avoid the day time robbery and head LaBarage Autos

I tried the shop based on positive reviews. My own experience was they took an appointment on my car knowing the year, make, model and the issue was the heat/AC; charged me to look at it; and recommended that I take it to someplace knowledgeable of my make and model. And it cost time and Uber to drop off and pick up.I would've preferred that they not take the appointment for this, but I wish the shop well and hope that most experiences are much better.

Brian and his team are great. They've always been honest and straight with me. I've never had them push unnecessary work on me and they've clearly let me know what work needs to be taken care of and given me fair estimates for the work. I strongly recommend them for anyone looking to get work done on their car.

$300 and didn't even fix the problem. No effort to truly diagnose the problem and blatant ignorance to my input on the matter. Do not recommend and will never be back. Avoid this business at all costs it is a liability not a service.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

Kenta is very professional and kind to his customers. Before I switched to Schoolhouse Auto, I used Pep Boys. When I asked problems on my car, they were very taciturn. Kenta is the opposite. The actual service for my care was completed, however the customer service was poor. I liked going to schoolhouse auto, and it was because they did a great job and were always polite. I originally had an appointment but it had to be rescheduled because whoever was supposed to be in that day, was not coming in till late. This person later called me that same day and we rescheduled for the following week. I arrived to my appointment and immediately got into an argument due to the rescheduled appointment and the fact that whoever I spoke to on the phone said they could replace my windshield wipers if I brought them in, gave me a hard time about that as well. This person also claimed to be the owner, and I know that was not the case. I almost walked out and should have. I'd be more than happy to speak to the real owner to discuss this, but I will not be going back to Schoolhouse Auto.Service: Oil change

I know I am in good hands with Schoolhouse Auto!I was running late for my annual auto emissions and safety inspection this morning, I called and Brian was able to squeeze me in a few hours later the same day. That was super convenient!I am happy to see all the activity at Schoolhouse Auto the parking lot was almost full. Brian completed 4 CARCO inspections in the time it took to inspect my vehicle.Scott the mechanic spoke to me directly and gave me a heads up on a necessary future repair. Brian was able to get a price quote for that future fix, and I was on my way.I have been using schoolhouse auto for the past 2 or 3 years and would highly recommend the service, quality, and reasonable prices.I drive down from Clifton Park about 15 miles because I really appreciate these guys!How many auto repair shops have you been to where you know the guys by their first name?This place is great give them a try!

The mechanic/owner is a great mechanic. He is a very hard-working & knowledgeable, helpful professional. He has undoubtedly saved me a great deal of money over the years. Highly recommend his shop.

Coming from a family that has owned at least six used cars, I know the used-car dance well. I'm relatively new to the area, but prices at Schoolhouse Auto are reasonable so far. I recommend you check out their Discount Car Care Club and become a member, if you plan on regular service. Brian (front desk) and Scott (mechanic) are friendly, punctual, upfront and knowledgeable when it comes to car service. Unlike big dealerships, they are not pushy, which I appreciate. The location is not on a busy or multi-lane road like many of these other car shops. The driveway is a bit steep, so just be careful with that.These are the services I've gotten in the past 6 months:-NYS inspection-Extreme realignment (Seriously no idea what the previous owners were doing with this car. I've had misaligned cars, but this was the worst, with the steering wheel shaking and pushing me to the side of the road. Was a bit frightening to drive.)-4 new, all-season tires-Valve stem repair (think I dented it going through a big pothole)-Tire air (winter)-A new valve cover (oil was leaking everywhere)-Two oil changes-Two tire rotationsMy car's running great now, and I plan to be a long-term customer.

Update 9/20/2022: Ownership and staff have changed since this review was posted. We currently go to Monro in Glenmont for our vehicles.Always excellent, the team at Schoolhouse are honest and go out of their way to help people when they can. They have been our mechanics for a number of years now and we won't go anywhere else.

Went to get a tire replaced, both the mechanic and the owner were very polite and professional. The wait time was less than an hour and the owner offered wifi while I waited. The price was also very reasonable, even as compared to larger garages in the area.

Recently my car brakes went and I left my car unannounced at the shop's garage, and left a voice message. My call was promptly returned the next morning and they went to work on my car right away. Excellent service and very fair prices, and ready to accommodate.

Nice guys, did good work. They broke a fitting on a ten year old rear disc brake caliper and told me about it. It might not sound like a good thing however having had my vehicles serviced many places, most shops would not tell you if they did this because you would likely never see it until it was to late. They risked losing a customer by being honest and gained my trust. I will be bringing back the family fleet for regular maintenance.

Their prices are very fair and they always take great care of us. There is never any pressure to fix or change things not needed. Very upfront and honest! I will be recommending anyone who needs a mechanic to these guys!

As parent of a young daughter going to school out of state Schoolhouse Auto has eased my nervousness. My daughter was in need of some vehicle repairs. Schoolhouse Auto treated her with respect and professionalism. I am thankful there are still honest, trustworthy and professional people around. I can not thank them enough!!!!!!

I very strongly recommend this auto store.When I go to the Schoolhouse auto, Scott can figure out the problem very quickly and explain the problem in a clear and simple way. Scott is very good Technician.Brian is very nice man, although He doesn't talk much. The price is fair.Every time I have good experience.I give 5 score.
