At first I had a good experience with this place. Then I went there after the alternator died and that's where the problems began.I can no longer recommend this place. They kept my car for 2 weeks and never told me when it was done. They didn't change parts they said needed to be changed and tried to charge me 50 more dollars than what we had discussed. I was told 950 with tax and they wanted 1000 when I got the bill. They offer 1 year warranty on their parts and I got them to sign off on that on my receipt. My car doors weren't locked in their care and was broken in to. When I spoke to the owner he said he saw the person breaking into the customer cars and he knew already. Like what!? The thief stole something small and dumb but, that's only bc I don't leave anything in my car. And then when I brought my car there the radio worked just fine and it didn't work after they "fixed" my car. They said they were going to replace it, but never called me. Never again. And I wanted to stay a customer too, but I can't leave my car for weeks to be made worse and broken in to.

Do not come here. My car floors were flooding due to clogged storm drains from roof window so I brought it here out of desperation. They never called me to tell me how much it was going to cost/what was wrong with it. I had to call and they told me it was finished. When I went to pick it up they told me the drivers side door was not working even though it was perfectly fine when I dropped it off. When I brought home, the alarm started randomly going off over and over again. I brought it back to share my concerns and they were super dismissive and blamed me for the issue. Now my car won't turn on. So I brought my car to get fixed for it to only be given back to me in a worse condition and now have to take it to another mechanic.

the worst auto shop, gave us estimate and after repair the price was very higher then estimate, they parked my car on the street and got parking ticket but didn t pay for it. the worst costumer service, please please do yourself a favor and do not take your car here

I was only in town for the weekend and was worried my car had sustained issues on its undercarriage. I needed to get it looked at before a long drive home. Jamalaye Auto was kind enough to fit me in and take a look. Fortunately nothing was wrong but I appreciated the help, service, and honesty.

Good service. Affordable prices they're very busy all the time. I was able to get brakes done on my car same day. Impressive. Especially on memorial day weekend.

Took my car in for an oil change and tire repair this morning. It was incredibly easy to schedule an appointment, and I enjoyed the no nonsense flow of the shop. The owner seems organized and efficient, I appreciated the timely manner in which he changed the oil as well as patched my tire. Nothing was up-sold and I felt comfortable asking questions. At a fair price and right down the road, I think I will be bringing my car here from now on and recommending family and friends do the same! Thanks Jamalaye

The reviews on here are quite mixed, but my sister and I had a really good experience. I think they stayed late to accommodate us. They seemed genuinely concerned about the problems our car had, but were willing to fix just what we needed for it to be safe again, because they understood that money was an issue. They even made a special trip to pick up a part we needed, even though it was late. Also, there was a very lovely kitty who kept us company while we waited.

We took our Honda rigdeline here and they kept asking us to pay for one issue or the other . It s been over 4 months . First it was the timing belt , we paid for that , then the car wouldn t move and they told us it was the oxygen sensor , we paid for that as well . Then the mechanic said it was the engine , we paid $2500 for that ! And the truck still wouldn t move . Now the mechanic is saying we have to pay $3800 to change something else ! Unbelievable! The truck was misdiagnosed and instead of admitting they can t fix it , they kept asking for more money . The day we went to tow it , we met 3 people there very upset and yelling about their cars being misdiagnosed after they have paid so much . Obviously this repair shop is a scam . Needed a quick fix was bumped in (Sorry whoever) but they finished the person ahead of me before I was taken care of in out no less then 25 mins. How do I know cause you can see them doing it. I even asked to see the bottom of the car and i was swept in for a small tour of my car. Excellent, friendly and will be getting more of my business hand over fist. I dare you to prove me a wrong.

Trying to find someone to trust and repair your car right can be an anxious experience. Not if you go to Jamalaye Auto. Ali (owner) is honest and open-hearted. From my experience, something rare in a "mechanic". The whole crew was on board with excellent service at reasonable rates. Very positive...

I don't understand how this place has 5 stars, they took more than a week to fix and inspect my car. Everytime I called and asked about my car, they lied and said they were going to get to it that day and never did. Had engine troubles, they helped me find a tow service an hour before closing and ordered parts and fixed my car up quickly. Glad they were open late Saturday.

I don't trust anyone else touching my car if it isn't me or Jamalaye. These guys don't mess around and they know their stuff. Great work done everytime. You're not going to find a more reasonable labor rate either. Anywhere. Thanks so much for all you've done for me! You guys are seriously much appreciated.

Avoid this place at all cost!Maybe I was just one of the unlucky customers but I did not have luck with Jamalaye.I called on a Friday asking if I could drop my car off if they had any availability. I was told to bring it in first thing Monday morning. I did that and explained what was wrong with it. I had a leak and requested it to be fixed. I met with Ali and explained my concern with my car. I was told they would call me before they fix anything and quote me a price. After not hearing anything I called around 2:30 to check on my car. They said they didn't Have a chance to look at it and said they would look at it the next morning. I understood they could have been busy so it didn't bother me too much. On Tuesday around noon I called after not hearing anything and the guy I spoke to told me that they lost the key and requested I drop off a spare so They can look at the car... I was a bit concerned, LOST my key? My only key. They had to have a lock smith come and make me a new key. When they called me at 3:30 to let me know the key was made I told them not to look at the car. If they're irresponsible enough to lose my car key I didn't want them anywhere near my engine! I picked my car up by 4 and dropped it off at High Tech Auto in Rensselaer. High Tech called me at 9AM the next day after looking at it and told me what was wrong with it and had it done by noon. I'm still pretty frustrated that I don't have an original key for my car now. But I learned my lesson. I will never give Jamalaye my business and wouldn't recommend to anyone. It was such a waste of time.

From the first time I met Ali I could feel he was someone I could trust with my car. ThanKS Ali for saving my Honda , Yes it took you longer than expected. I appreciate your patience and skills, I also want to thank Cidi the front desk personal ,you make everyone feel welcome. Your hard work is truly appreciate. I strongly recommend this shop to anyone. Don't forget to ask for Ali. He will give you the best diagnosis possible.Thanks..

Long story short - got into an accident, got it towed here. Every time I call Ali (shop owner) he says "it will be ready by Monday" or "it will be done by Friday." None of which were true statements but just falsified to keep your business. All replacement parts were used and not new as promised by Ali. It is now three months since I have picked up the car from them and paint is cracking and peeling in nine different spots. When I confront them about it - "no touch up paint." It appears that there is only one layer of paint. No primer, not sanded underneath it.I was going to give them a two star rating solely based on their low hourly labor charge but that has since changed.Also had a set of horns replaced by them - one month later? Guess what? One of them stopped working because the terminals were not properly connected and not soldered or protected with electrical tape.The place is run by Western African immigrants and you'd think that they work hard to provide for their family. That isn't the case. Most of the workers work and walk slowly.Please do not expect to see myself or any of my family/friends because you won't.

This is my second time coming to Jamalaye, each time I received prompt customer service. The wait time was short and enjoyable. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. I will continue to choose Jamalaye for all my auto mechanic needs.

Yeah I don't know what those people are talking about that wrote good reviews. I read them before I took my car to this guy and I should have listened to the one bad review!!!!This guy does a piss poor and and is very dishonest. I took my car for a radiator and thermostat replacement. It was not cheaper there that it would have been anywhere else so forget it about any discounts. I have an old car so I just need it to run and don't care about the body but if you don't want frame damage done to your car then don't go to this place. What I am upset about is that when I picked up my car from him and drove a mile from the shop it overheated and the coolant was pouring out through the lower radiator hose. I took is back and he said the hose was already like that. He told me that he didn't even touch any of the radiator hoses.In short if you take your car to Jamalaye Auto Service you will be putting your car into the hands of a man who claims not to touch the lower radiator hose in a car when he replaces the radiator.

Was told I needed a tune up so I spent $300 come to find out by 2 other sources that not only did I not need the tune up but it wasn't even done correctly. My car has been running like crap ever since I'm going back to get a refund or something and it better not be a problem. I think they just do horrible work on purpose just so you can come back and spend more money. If you read this please I beg of you DONT GO TO THIS REPAIR SHOP

Awesome mechanics and nice people that help u when u come in! You can tell they know their stuff and they waste no time! This is definitely my new mechanic first and only honest car place ive found so far! Please keep it up african american owned businesses like them are a breath of fresh air

I have done business with Aly (Jamalaye Auto) for over fifteen years. The staff has always done a great job on my vehicles. They give fair assessments of the work necessary, give great feedback before the begin the work, and do a wonderful job fixing the issue. Aly is a fair businessman who goes above and beyond to satisfy his customers. Pop is an excellent mechanic their as well.
