Customer service could use some work, basic decent human communication. Can recommend half dozen shops that give you both good work and service.This is the place to go to service your fleet vehicles & light trucks, state of the art equipment. I just personally wouldn t go there for my personal vehicle.

These guys are top-notch. I was lucky enough to get a recommendation for a shop that works on diesel pickup trucks. Finally, a trustworthy shop with a fair rate and excellent customer service and communications. These guys work on all pick up trucks and SUV gas or diesel. Call Shawn or Nick, and they will be sure to take care of you and will keep you informed thru the whole process. Anyone who owns a diesel pick up truck knows the importance of a good mechanic shop.

I was a little suspect that they were taking advantage of my daughter on the repair of her car. I called and spoke to Vinny and he fully understood my concerns. He was very upfront and honest with me. He took the time to always call me and make sure I fully understood what was going on. This place is very professional and courteous. Called on a Monday and was able to get an appt the next morning to have an electric brake control installed on a Ford F350. Had one of our shop trucks break down in Albany. We called our AAA rep and he recommended Albany Light Truck and he was right! Anyone that puts a bad review obviously doesn't have a clue! Vinny is a stand up guy and tells you exactly how it is and in our case he is working on a 26 year old food truck that is super difficult to work on after being not worked on correctly its whole driving life! He hasn't let us down yet and has fixed issues that have went back in daily to another shop over and over and over! We do have to find our own parts sometimes but that's expected. Have you seen how many cars, trucks and Rvs they have that need to be worked on?!! That should tell you people are willing to wait because they're good at what they do. Tell you like I tell my boss if ya want it back fast and done right done....go to some place that will lie to you and not do the work and take your money and smile at you on your way out. Used them once before and it me cost @$1800 to replace brakes lines to have the unit pass inspection. Brought my motorhome in just recently and when they finally had the time, almost two weeks later, I was quoted an astonishing $8000 for it to pass inspection. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone. I sold the unit to a mechanic in less than a day after picking the unit up from them and the mechanic was thrilled to have it! These guys are unreasonable and overpriced clowns!

Let me start off by saying I have historically been a consumer of reviews but never taken the time to write one for any business or product. That changes today as a result of the professional, courteous and knowledgeable team at Albany Light Truck and Car Repair. If you need a great local garage that you can trust and build a relationship with look no further.I came to Albany Light Truck and Car Repair with an odd problem (intermittent metallic grinding sound at low speeds) with my Explorer that local Ford dealers simply did not take the time to diagnose and certainly did not resolve. After one phone call and a quick exchange with Vinny it became apparent that their level of service and commitment to fixing my issue was unmatched. He took the time to properly validate the complaint and after a couple minutes of driving my car already had an idea on what the cause may be.Later that day the service manager Sean called me and explained the nature of my failing power transfer unit and took the time to validate pricing / timing of part delivery. We ultimately settled on a plan to replace the PTU and I felt at ease knowing the confidence they had in correcting a problem others could not even diagnose. The added complexity of working through this all during the holidays was a non factor as they managed the fix around my schedule.I hope you found this garage / review and give this business the chance they deserve to service your car. Coming from a life long customer of dealers, trust me when I say there are better experts to be found. Thank you Vinny, Sean and crew for delivering not only a timely fix but the start of a trusting relationship for any future needs I may have!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Took great care of my vehicle and were fast. Definitely call ahead to verify if they can get you in, but no problems and I have used them for maintenance and repairs for a while. I've recommended these guys to anyone who needs care repairs

Way over priced quoted me $1000 more then I previously paid for same issue on the car at another location.would not recommend to anyone unless you want to over pay for service

Rude, demeaning and nasty Man speaking to us about a 1989 American Cobra being too old to put tires on. You are clueless and out of touch with reality. I am the owner of an old RV that is in mint condition. Almost fully restored. The bias ply tires were discontinued in the 1990 s. However, there is a conversion chart available online. I asked them if they could sell me the tires and I would mount and balance them myself. He said no, his boss won t let him. I told him about himself and said you lost thousands of dollars. They miss treat WOMEN and are Very inappropriate

Not very happy because I was told that my 1994 RV with 39900 miles in very good condition was too old for an inspection. He said he only inspects 1995 and later. What a coincidence. He was the last place to inspect it the last few times and still has the records. Since then its only been driven 300 miles, has new tires and brake components, but I was still denied an inspection. Not sure this is legal in New York State. Will have to see what DMV says about that. Fleet Pride in Menands is happy to do the inspection. I prefer to bring my business where it's wanted. Obviously he couldn't be bothered.

Great work! we were stranded with a generator broken on a RV that the tailpipe got hit from a cone in the road and it destroyed the muffler area. They got to it right away and did some quality work and got on the road

I cannot say enough good things about Vinny at Albany Light Truck & Car repair. I was passing through the area in my RV when we experienced a blow out on my back tire. I was able to drive safely to a location. We called several places and no one could help until I called this place. Vinny and I communicated back and forth and he gave me directions to their shop where I could drive safely with one flat back tire. They got me in, replaced back two tires and had me back on the road in 2 hours. I am eternally grateful for their assistance! They were so kind as well! I highly recommend this place!

Depends on the day if they feel like working on your vehicle. Gave this guy a lot of business over the years and now randomly they say they don t work on anything older than 20 years. What a joke. Guy worked on my 95 ranger a few years back lol

I was not near home when I had mechanical issues with my vehicle. I located this business and saw their multiple good reviews. I will lump on and agree with so many others that Albany Light Truck and Car Repair is one of those independent garages that are tough to find. Sean and his staff are top notch. Had me back on the road within 24 hrs. Great folks

Several years ago we were referred to Albany Light Truck and Car Repair by a close friend. We needed a base plate installed on our GMC Terrain so that we could flat tow behind our RV and they had experience with this type of work. We were not disappointed. We scheduled an appointment and the work was done in the promised time. The price was extremely fair for the work involved in the installation. We continued each year having our inspections done on the RV. We recently purchased a new vehicle and once again entrusted Vinnie and the crew to install the base plate on our 2017 Traverse. They not only did a great job on the installation but also did the wiring. Every bit of it is professional looking and neatly done. Once again, the price was fair for the amount of work done. All of the staff is professional and polite whether visiting in person or speaking on the phone. My husband and I cannot say enough positive things about the business in general. We will continue using their services and promoting their services to others. These guys are always friendly and accommodating and most of all I trust them. They are always busy and that is testimony to the fact that they are good people. We have been bringing our motorhome there the last 4 or 5 years and they never try to oversell. I will continue to bring our motorhome to them. They also have great prices on tires.

Brought my diesel pickup truck in. Engine was running rough. Was charged $700 to replace two sensors. They also told me i needed a new computer. On my way driving home i came to find out a partially severed injector wire was my issue and fixed it with a 10� wire crimp. I wish they had spent a bit more time on diagnosis and less on parts. Nonetheless they were really nice guys and don t believe they had any bad intentions. But I m left feeling kinda stupid spending so much money on such a simple problem.

Brought my car in to have a dead headlight bulb changed (requires entire front bumper to be pulled, thanks GM), oil changed, and state inspection. They set me up with an appointment for the next week (I had told them no rush, I have all month) and the work was done same day.I had intended to change both bulbs, to prevent having to pay the labor on removing the bumper again in the near future, and they very helpfully suggested I change EVERY bulb in the front headlights. It was good advice as I hadn't considered the other bulbs, just the main ones. No other mechanic I called for a quote pointed that out to me; the cost increase was negligible.When the final price was above what was quoted to me, he immediately looked it back over and dropped the prices to his quote. Odds are the bumper gave more trouble than anticipated; everyone I've ever asked says it's worth the money to have someone else do it because it's such a pain.They value honesty and good service. Prices were reasonable. Turnaround time was much better than average. I would recommend them.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

I had my husbands truck down there to install a tow hitch. Vince was great did the job perfect price was awesome. By far the best place to take your truck or car. In upstate New York If it doesn't need to be fixed Vince will be upfront with you. People need a few good people in there corner. A lawyer. A doctor. And a honest mechanic. Now my family as all three. Thank you Vince your the best!!!!!!

We were passing through the area and had our brakes go on the camper. I called and Vinny and he had me stop by the same day to look at it. Then he diagnosed and fixed the brakes and a few issues on the truck. 150% happy with the service and recommendations.Thank you ALT for the great service!
