Not all heros wear capes! There are no words to describe how lucky I feel that when we broke down on I40 in Tucumcari, NM, Don was there for us.I was hauling my husband's three Harley Davidson's - two of them he inherited from his father who passed away in 2018, making them irreplaceable, and I had my MIL with me so she could check out our new state to see if she wants to come live with us.We were travelling east and took an exit, which I honestly do not know why I did because it was not part on my route and I had no reason to get off the interstate. The off ramp is pretty steep and as my truck climbed the grade it began to loose torque. Trying to get off the road, onto the shoulder, I down shifted through the gears but I continued to lose torque and I couldn't get over. Then it died. I was able to start it back up but due to the weight of the trailer, trying to go forward would only kill the truck so I tried to use gravity to get to help me get to the shoulder. The power steering wasn't working and I could not keep my trailer straight. It ended up jackknifing with the rear dangerously close to the embankment. Knowing that trying to correct the situation would only result in my truck, trailer, the Harleys, my MIL and I several years down in the ravine. Top priority was to separate my truck and trailer at this point, so I chalked the trailer and managed to get the truck running long enough to get it out from under it's load and onto the shoulder. The trailer was still blocking half the road and it was going to be dark soon. Since it was no longer hitched up, there was no power to the lights and I knew It would only take one person not paying attention and the trailer would go over. My husband's Harley's would not have survived the impact.Panic starting to set in, my mind raced trying to determine what to do next. I looked up and a vehicle was driving down the off ramp towards us.Where I come from two women stranded on the interstate, in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere is expected to end badly, so when Don leaned out his window and asked if we needed help, all instincts told me to tell him no and send him on his way. However, we did need help and my husband, who is an OTR truck driver was 1000 miles away. Calling and waiting for help to come was quickly becoming more risky as the night grew closer. Choosing what I knew in my gut was the better of two very risky options, I went against everything that I know and said, yes.Thank goodness I did! Turns out his yard was on the other side of the interstate and he could see everything happening from there. It was obvious that something wasn't right, so he decided to investigate. Don offered to first haul my trailer over to his yard and then he would come back to help with the truck. Not comfortable with letting my husband's bikes out of my custody I decided to go with him; another risky choice, I know. So I told my MIL the plan, asked her to take a picture of his vehicle and license plate, just in case, and we were on our way. With the trailer and its precious cargo safe, the next step was the truck. Wanting to keep the truck, trailer, my MIL and myself together until I could call my husband and ask him what he would like me to do next, I opted to get my truck to his yard, as well. Once everything was, safe we made a plan to assess the truck in the morning and go from there. Don dropped us off at a motel, promising to be back in the morning. He even carried our bags to lobby and waited to leave until he was sure we had a room and were safe.My truck is a diesel, but it's a 4-wheeler (trucker lingo for "not a big rig") and not the kind of vehicle he usually works on, so before I contacted him in the morning, Don had already lined out a local mechanic who agreed to make room in his busy schedule thay day to l diagnose the problem if we couldn't get it started. Luckily, we didn't need him because Don had us back up and running and on our way in less than an hour!

100% the person to call.My family and I were in an RV trip across country and nobody would look at our our RV when we heard a scary noise coming from underneath. This guy looked at our RV, even had me drive it to try to diagnose. At the end we found out what it was and went on our way.Amazing person, great service, and we could tell he cared about getting us back on the road safe.

I called a lot of different shops around to get some help with our Mack. Coolant leaks. Everybody declined the job saying either they are too busy or cannot fix it. When I called American Repairs service he did not hesitate, 30 min after the call, he was with our driver. He didn't have the right part but fixed it temporarily so our driver can make it to the dealership. This is what I call a Dependable and Honest mechanic. Rare to find. Thank you again !Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Really good and conscious mechanic. Brooke fixed my 2006 Toyota Tundra over Memorial Day weekend after the driver side ball joint failed and the front wheel came off in the middle of nowhere on NM 104 between Tucumcari and Las Vegas NM. He found parts, and replaced all the ball joints, front axils, and brakes on Sunday and Monday, Memorial Day, and also fixed damage cause by the front carriage dragging on the pavement. I don't think anyone or a better person to it fixed. On memorial weekend driving through Tucumcari the front ball joints failed and Brooke at American Repair worked Sunday and Monday to get me going.A mounth later an unimaginable thing happened. At 3pm on the Saturday of the Fourth of July weekend about 13 miles out of Tucumcari, the rear wheel came off my Tundra, ( the last tire shop in that worked on must have not tightened the lugs). When the wheel came off it also started a grass fire. I called Brooke right away, he called the fire department and towed me back to his shop. The fire department arrived just before the grass fire reached the truck. Brooke found parts, lugs bolts, break parts, and a new wheel drum and got my back on the road by 1am.

Brooke was amazing and genuinely concerned with helping us. He was very attentive to our emergency situation by working us in quickly. He came to our motel and assessed our problem which didn't require his service to resolve. He suggested our solution and whom to use. He followed us to the tire place making sure we got there safely without further damage to our truck. He is awesome! He did this without charging us & we wanted to give him something, so he suggested a donation which we gladly gave. We highly recommend Brooke and would use him again in a heartbeat.

Brooke was absolutely amazing and I would give him more than 5 stars if this allowed. We broke down in Tucumcari on our move across country from the west coast to the east coast. The rear differential went out in our truck and we just googled a 24 hour repair service which happened to be American Repair Service and Brooke came to our rescue. He towed our trailer to our hotel and then towed our truck to his shop and even made sure we were safe in our hotel before he left us. He kept us informed on the progress he was making throughout the day. We never had to wonder or question what was going on with our truck. When he finished rebuilding our truck and we started our moving journey again, we unfortunately broke down again in Weatherford Oklahoma and once again Brooke drove out and came to our rescue. He stood behind his work! I have never met such an honest hardworking repair man as Brooke! I would recommend him and wish we lived closer to him so we could go to him with all our needed car repairs.

Broke down headed out to California from Maryland. Brooke from American Repair Service has been super helpful and so nice. Not to mention he completely knows what he is doing. He went completely above and beyond with helping us get our truck back on the road as fast as he could. We have never met someone so nice as Brooke and we could not be more thankful for him and all his help.

Brook Shot was very professional and helpful. The turbo on my truck blew and I had the part shipped next day. I had an onion load and it was time sensitive with his help I was able to go on my way within hours. His attitude and eagerness to do the job was on point. I highly recommend him if ever in need.

Brooke was great! His son let us know he had the parts to repair the trailer we were pulling even though every other shop told us it would be the next day. He worked late into the night to get us back on the road. When we left we realized that the problem was bigger than a couple of blown tires tearing some stuff up. He was back at his shop for us at 6am. Found out what the problem was and worked exhaustively to get us on our way. Even with everything that needed to be done he got us on our way in time to make our destination deadline. Not only did he get it done the trailer pulled so much better. Our mpg improved and it was like the trailer wasn't even back there. Great job Brooke! Thank you again for everything.

Fantastic customer service! When my diesel engine RV broke down on I-40 outsideTucumcari, I called American Repair, and Brooke went into immediate action to find a turbocharger for a 13-year old RV before I ever got my RV trailered to his shop. He offered to drive out to where I was broken down to diagnose the problem. He even called the towing service that AAA had requested for me to check when they would arrive. When we thought I might have to wait 4 days for a part to be delivered he made numerous calls on my behalf (to find a rental car, to arrange a driver to take us to get a rental car, to order the part I needed). He drove 25 miles to pick up the part, which ended up being the wrong part. I never have had a mechanic more interested in helping his customer than Brooke. And his cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend American Repair Service.

I was VERY impressed with this automotive repair and the owner himself! My mother and I were traveling through New Mexico and found ourselves broken down on the highway. We called American Automotive Repair and the owner himself responded to our call. He tried to fix our vehicle on the side of the road but ended up having to tow our vehicle into his shop. We decided that we might need to get a hotel and this man drove us to a hotel in his own personal vehicle. He ended up fixing the car at a very reasonable price. I can't say enough about the hospitality we received. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone. -Stacey from Oklahoma

Our brakes were acting up on a road trip with our family and we called this shop. Brooke wasn't in at the time but he came out on his time off and took a look at our van for us. He was very polite and helpful. He did a brake service and a thorough diagnosis of our issue.

Back in January I was driving through Tucumcari on my way to Kentucky when my father's-in-law vehicle broke down. We are not from the area so we did not know who to call for service, especially at ~9:00 p.m. Thankfully, Brooke answered the phone when I called and we had the vehicle towed there. Due to circumstances outside of anybody's control, the vehicle could not be fixed that night nor the next day. My only option was to leave the vehicle at Brooke's which he allowed. Most other places will charge you an arm and a leg to store your vehicle but Brooke was very understanding and generous with his prices. For three months I communicated with Brooke and it was a joy every time. When I finally was able to pass back through, Brooke was kind enough and directly helped us load our vehicle onto a car-dolly. In short, I could not have done it without Brooke.I tell my friends that Tucumcari is the last place on Earth you want to break down, but if you do, call Brooke. After our exchanges over the months, I now consider Brooke a friend.

Called in after hours and after a long and crummy moving day with 2 trailer tires not holding air. Stressed and concerned we had run thru a bunch of shrapnel on the freeway as all of them had been fairly new, we were greeted with fast and friendly professional help at an awesome price, and back on the road in under an hour. Highly recommend! Thank you American Repair Service and God bless!

Brooks did a great job fixing my Mercedes, that broke down on I-40. The customer service at ARS is top notch. My car needed an uncommon part, which the owner of American repair service, drove 90 miles to acquire. Shuttle to the hotel, after hours communication and top notch work. All of this, add a cost less than what I m used to paying my regular, big city mechanic. American repair service made the best out of my bad situation. Thanks!

Best repair service on I-40 between Albuquerque and Amarillo for autos, trucks, motorhomes and semis, probably motorcycles, too. Brooke, the owner, comes to you if you need him, checks out, identifies and repairs your problem and has you on your way ASAP without a hassle for a reasonable charge. Best service I've ever had on the road. He knows his business and it shows. Plus he's super friendly and goes the extra mile to please you. You'll be glad you called American Repair Service first.

Our Dodge Ram Dually popped a tire and it messed up the brake caliper. These guys went out and got a new bolt for us and fixed us right up when no one else was open. They were very fair on price. Recommended.

There's a reason why American Repairer has all five star reviews. Brooke is an honest and fair man! After breaking down in the 103 degree Tucamari heat on the interstate and finding engine coolant everywhere with an overheated engine close to 5 p.m., I thought I was in a heap of trouble. I called NAPA to see who they would recommend hoping they would send me to an honest mechanic shop and they said American Repair Service. Called Brooke and we become his top priority. We were back on the road in an hour and a half and that included Brooke going into town for parts. Very reasonable and I will always call him and make sure all my family and friends know about this spot just in case. Thanks American Repair!

Brooke went out of his way to help us when we were very far from home with a faulty car. It was on Sunday of a 3-day weekend and we would ve been stranded without him. I would absolutely trust him with my car again.

Passing thru it s 95 degrees and our air goes out on the passenger side of our 2004 GMC 2500 diesel truck. Blowing hot air.Seen Brooke s review on Yelp so we gave him a call. He told us to bring it in.He was just towing in another vehicle when we got there. He made a couple phone calls and his friend told him to recharge the Freon he said it might work. It did. He worked on both vehicles simultaneously and figured out the problems to both. His prices are reasonable. His Integrity is number #1And he does Towing.
