DO NOT RENT FROMWHEELER PEAK CAR RENTAL / CHARLIE RAELThis is kinda long but bear with me. I made the mistake of renting a car form this shady operator on September 8 2020, I had a car reserved for a week and the day before arriving in Taos ( KSKX ) I texted Charlie to upgrade to a 4 wheeled drive vehicle as Red River NM was predicting snow. I was accommodated and the car was ready at the airport on arrival. However when I returned home and saw my credit card charge on my statement Charlie had over charged me by $116.50. I spent the next several months all the way to the last exchange I had with Charlie on January 7, 2021 trying to get him to refund me. He always had an excuse , he was out of town , check is in the mail etc. I finally gave up. Fast forward to August 14 of this year and I was back in Taos going to Red River I rented a car from Enterprise and all was good. I thought since I was in town I called Charlie to try once again to get my refund, and the same routine started again he said he was out of town the whole time I was going to be there, he promised to call me and get it corrected but never did, do yourself a favor and NEVER rent from this guy.Kenny Knieper

I rented a Car from Wheeler Rental car located at the Taos Airport in Taos, NM. The rental car company charged my Credit card a total of $3944.50 for 20 days. I have texted, and left messages on both phone numbers associated with Wheeler Rental Car and spoke personally with the gentlemen I obtained the car from requesting a receipt. Renting the car was easy and everything went very well until I asked for a receipt. I feel the amount was excessive but really just need a receipt for tax purposes. I question the business practices of this rental car business that can not produce receipts.

Awesome service, can not recommend highly enough renting from this local company. Great clean, new model car, perfect for our group. We were met at Taos airport right when we walked off the plane, already had all the paperwork done, gave us the keys and we were at our hotel in 15 minutes from the time we walked off the plane! We came back to the airport directly from the slopes, parked in front and dropped the key with the gate agent. Incredible! Will definitely rent here again when we come to Taos!

Totally hassle-free. Rented in August 2021. They upgraded our car. Very clean and was ready when we landed at the airport. It was the smoothest car rental experience we ve ever had.

This place double charged us for a car rental in May. I spoke with them about the double charge and they said they would reimburse us. well, they NEVER reimbursed us and now will not answer my phone calls or messages that I've left. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Attempted to contact for a reservation for days and never got a call back. It s been a week since I left a message and still haven t heard back. Not a good way to treat potential customers.
