Jacob was awesome!! Our Motorhome Diesel engine would not start, we were stranded at KOA outside of Santa Fe. Jacob was there within 1 hour of calling and got her started - and we were on our way!! HIGHLY Recommend, great honest people!!

Can not say enough good things about Hal Burns Truck & Equipment. Their staff and the service they provide are top notch. We had a check engine light on our 2002 Prevost XL II Motorcoach. They took us in and diagnosed the problem of a bad fuel injector. We went ahead and replaced all 6 while they were inside the engine. Bill Denninson who repaired it (basically rebuilt a large part of the engine) was so meticulous and through. Our engine runs now like a brand new Detroit Diesel.Everyone who helped us were so great, David, Paco, James, Tonya and of course Bill. Highly recommend Hall Burns to anyone, especially those traveling in their RV and needing help in Santa Fe.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

We didn t end up getting repairs done at Hal Burns so this review is just for the excellent customer service they provided! We lost a wheel on our fifth wheel trailer somewhere on 599 on a Sunday afternoon. No RV or truck repair shops were answering the phones since it was Sunday, but I saw Hal Burns had a mobile service and took a shot calling them. They answered instantly, confirmed we could get towed there, gave us a realistic expectation of timeline for repair, and gave us two tow companies to call that would be able to handle our size. They then called us back a couple hours later to make sure we were ok and had been able to arrange a tow, which we were able to do only thanks to their recommendations! We ended up finding someone to do the repair on a faster timeline than HB gave us so we didn t end up going there, but we had a very stressful day and the customer service HB provided went above and beyond! If we lived in the area we would definitely be using HB for maintenance and repairs on our fiver. Thanks y all!

Can t recommend this shop enough! Our truck started acting up on our way to Arizona and they were the only ones that would even look at the truck for us. They were already busy but still made time to help us so we weren t stuck on the side of the road with two little kids. They had us back on the road within 2 days. We can t thank you guys enough!

Hal Burns needs to take a deep look at why they are in the business of truck/RV repairs other than for money. It is a real shock that they even get 4 stars.I wanted to get my rig winterized and to address engine and tire lights, protecting catalytic converter, minor repairs (indoor table, windshield wipers, back camera).David, the co-owner, comes across as appreciative and friendly as he writes down what needs to be done. It is evident that he does nothing else with the actual truck/RV repairs. The foreman, Paco, is the main contact repair person. Unfortunately, the shop only has 2 real good mechanics. The other mechanics are subpar, leaving incomplete or sloppy work and dirty rags in the rig. There were no reviewed communication of what was done (no pictures sent) and what couldn't be accomplished (no suggestions) - only the work list and cost...$2400!I had to return to retrieve the side steps that I paid for and didn't get installed, even after leaving my rig for 3 weeks! I was left with Incomplete work and the feeling of being dismissed once the bill was paid. The engine light came back on too, but no way would I return to Hal Burns. No thanks, even if they did send me a Christmas card. They overcharge for mediocre work. Hal Burns may have been in service for 48 years but that isn't reassurance that good and honorable work will be done.Sad but true.

These guys were the nicest and most competent people we have met in a long time. We broke down in our motorhome and were stuck waiting for parts for 16 days. But the crew at Hal burns let us stay in the MH the whole time and hooked us up to power. Not only that but they let us use their shower and bathrooms so we wouldnt fill up our tanks (there wasnt a place to dump there). If you break down anywhere within 100 miles of Sante Fe, do yourselves a favor and get your rig to Hal Burns.

Great service and very knowledgeable. We were traveling and had an issue with our RV. We contacted David and his team, and they were able to get our axle gasket repaired at our campsite. I would highly recommend them.

We were traveling through and our safety chain mount on our 31 foot travel trailer had broken off. We called Hal Burns and they fit us into a very packed schedule. They re-welded it, put new chains on and sent us on our way in just under an hour. We were driving from Indiana to Portland Oregon. I probably won't be through that way ever again, but I can say that this is one of the best places I have ever done business with. They did amazing work and took care of us. Thank you! Our RV had a problem as we were leaving Santa Fe, and the guys at Hal Burns took very good care of us. We "camped" on their lot for 4 days waiting for parts to arrive, and they even let us plug into power. Highly recommend!

Was on cross country road trip in my motorhome traveling west on interstate out of Gallup on a Friday, headed back home to Florida, and had problem keeping generator running night before. Called all rv repair places in Albuquerque and none of them had anybody how could even look at it until at least the following week or linger. Called and talked to David Burns the General manager who said his generator specialist was off until Monday but bring it by and he would look at it himself to see if he would help. When we arrived two hours later David figured out the problem, made several adjustments and ran three test to insure that it was working properly. He refused to let me pay him for his time and told me to just e sure to help others when possible. He is a true professional and Gentleman.

We appreciate this business so much. We stopped last year for a problem with our RV and were very pleased with their work. On our way home from AZ last week we realized we were having a problem so called them and they told us to come on in and they would see what was going on. The problem wasn't easy to find but they were diligent until they got it fixed. We were able to stay here while they worked on the RV. Everyone was very friendly and professional. We feel their work is quality and their prices are fair. We will be back.

When our Motorcoach broke down on the interstate, Dave Burns opened the gate to his business after hours to allow our RV to be parked in his shop yard. The next day, his mechanics diagnosed the problem and fixed the blown radiator hose. They were very thorough in testing the cooling system afterwards to make sure there was no engine damage from the overheating. Their office manager, Tanya, was also very caring and essential in finding us a towing service after 7 hours spent alongside the interstate waiting on another towing service that never arrived. This is an excellent RV repair business!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Took my motorhome in to hopefully have my slide-out fixed and my generator repaired. I was pretty much told I needed a new generator and they had no clue how to fix my slide-out. Hal Burns charged me 450 dollars to look at and do absolutely nothing. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

As a full-timer in an old rig with a workhorse chassis, when we were made aware of the condition of our brakes, it was very difficult to find a shop who would even look at our RV. Most shops don't look at anything older than 7 years. Even fewer will look at brakes. And even fewer of those will look at Workhorse parts. While we did find one shop in the Denver area that would, it was going to be a month or longer on parts. We traveled down to Santa Fe and found Hal Burns, a Workhorse specialist. They were able to get parts in the day after they put us up on the lifts. The couple of days before they could get us in? They let us stay in the lot rather than have to go find a spot somewhere else and scramble daily about whether or not we could renew or come in.The people were very nice. The dogs were shy. The lot was clean and it's in a quiet part of town. I can't recommend them enough.I know a lot of reviews are negative ones about costs but I get vehicle repair. Diagnosing a problem is more art than science. Could you fix it immediately be replacing literally everything? Sure. But that's expensive. You start with the most likely and least expensive and you work your way up.We knew what we were looking for going in and even when it turns out the caliper boots were pretty gone, we knew that would be a possibility. Our estimate was reasonable. They kept us appraised and we were thankful for the great work.I'm glad we ended up at Hal Burns.

We live in Santa Fe but did not discover Hal Burns until we thought the Dometic refrigerator in our little Airstream was not working properly. We took the trailer over and had great help checking in and finding a spot to park so we could unhitch our Jeep. Even though we thought they might not be able to start checking things out for several days, they were turning things on before we left their lot. We were called two days later, telling us that it had checked out to be working well. They kept the trailer over the 4th of July weekend because we could not come by. We picked it up a few days later, and again were impressed by how professional everyone was. If we have further problems, we will give them a call and stop by. Great facility.

Well folks, we drive a motor home and the rear wheel had oil on it. I am no mechanic but i know oil does not belong on wheel. I called Tuesday and spoke with a knowledgeable young lady and explain what my needs were, and she scheduled us for this morning at 8.00 am We came in, filled out paper work and gave insurance information. Met the technician and explained we had two cats inside that would be fine but not to let them out...We got the call at 12.15 pm that the work was completed. We went back and all was done correctly. Fine place to do business with I highly recommend.

I arrived in Santa Fe mid May with Electrical issues & a broken windshield. It was a Saturday & though the garage was closed, I was given the owners cell number. He actually answered, discussed my issues & told me to be there 1st thing Monday morning.I have an older coach so it took some time to get the parts & creativity as some of the parts were no longer manufactured. While I waited for my coach to be repaired I was hooked up to electric & water. I was also offered to use the showers & rest rooms in the garage. Both were well maintained & kept very clean. I was given a key to the gates so I could come & go as I needed to.One night they needed to keep the coach in the garages so they put me up @ the remodeled La Quinta Hotel, In Santa Fe, which was a wonderful treat after being on the road for months!!Hal Burns doesn't install or repair windshields but they recommended & work with a company, out of ABQ, called Horizon Glass. These folks were also very professional & provided excellent service! It's always tough to break down, but the people @ Hal Burns did all they could to make it a little better!.

I took my 2016 ram 3500 diesel into the shop yesterday asked them to change the two fuel filters. They called me two hours later said the job is done! I had the same service done last year at Larry H Miller s Dodge in Albuquerque, took them half a day to do the same work.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

Update: the brakes that they worked on failed within a week and the BBB supported them by not following through with my complaint. After two inspections they failed to inform us of other issues that cause major issues like brake failure. The owner "David" is very rude and interrupts questions concerning service. They perform other inspections after a quote is made and adds to the cost without discussing it with the customer. They are not timely and you will spend more than 15 min there. It's more like 2 or 3 days for brake services. The owner is also forceful and demanding when speaking to a customer with no regards to providing accurate service.

If I could give zero stars I would. I am a Santa Fe native and have never been less impressed by car repair service in Santa Fe. David not only did not fix the original problem with our Diesel truck, but when we brought it back in he would take no responsibility for the possibility that it had caused other problems. Although, he said he would "work" with us on it. How I wish I had gone somewhere else. After repeated calls that there were other things he could repair while inside the engine we agreed on a price he would not exceed without consulting us first. The following week after no communication, when we called to find out the status, his tech informed us that someone had been out sick so they hadn't really had time to work on it... meanwhile we were renting another vehicle. Another week later when our truck was finally ready we came in to find our bill had exceeded the agreed upon amount by $2000.00... No, you didn't just hullucinate. So if this is the kind of service you enjoy, by all means choose Hal Burns.

Took an RV here to get a pre purchase inspection done, since I was purchasing the RV from a lady. She came with me. They got me in fairly quickly, but seems like they had limited experience on RVs... the mechanic kept telling me it looked in good shape after glancing at it fairly briefly. He couldn't figure out how some things worked and the lady had to show him one thing after another. She kept glossing over things and explaining to him how awesome it was. And he kept repeating and agreeing with her. I, however, want to know what's wrong with it, not what's right, which is what I paid him for (ultimately after purchase I found some issues he missed)I cut the inspection short after 20 minutes. When asked if there was an issue, I expressed my dissatisfaction. They charged me for the entire job anyhow

Good service and reasonable price. Got us in day we called (referred by Eddie at Complete RV Care in Sante Fe). Took a few days, but new brakes for the rest of our travels. They also took care of costs covered under our warranty. We would recommend!!

We happened upon Hal Burns Truck & Equipment service through Coach-net. While on the road, we had a problem with our AIrstream brakes. A mobile tech was sent out from Hal Burns. He diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, had a couple hiccups and in a few days we were on our way. Our Airstream was still under warranty, so Tina in the office helped expedite payment with the manufacturer to get everything covered. Very knowledgeable mechanics, I would definitely recommend. Thank you.

I really want to thank all the mechanics and front desk for all their help with my older Airstream motorhome. After being referred to Hal Burns by word of mouth, they easily fixed and updated all of my rvs issues....she runs better than ever. The staff was great to work with, honest, competent & the prices were fair too. i am 100% overjoyed at the results & will def. be adding Hal Burns to the Airstream Forum's list of GREAT mechanics in NM.

The work is slow but appears OK. My big issue is price. Over $1000 for standard oil change maintenance and 4WD lube checks and changes. At first, the prices were more affordable, then they skyrocketed. On our last visit, they told us they charged extra because I gave them a list of things to check, all from the Ford vehicle checklist and part of the firm's standard checklist as well. They knocked $300 of the $1500 price for having to read my checklist! They also don't stand by quotes. We had a water heater removed from a camper van with an external door added to replace the heater door. The quote was $500, not in writing, the price was $1300. With standard metal bolt heads that rusted! We went on a trip, the door wouldn't close properly and when we returned, they balked at fixing it because we clearly damaged the $1300 door. (They did fix it after a slight discussion.) Buyer beware.

Arrived in Santa Fe on a Sunday night with a major problem with our camper. Called Monday at 7am and Dave and a colleague fixed the problem that morning. Outstanding service and nice people.

Dave and the crew at Hal Burns have helped us on more occasions that I can count. Solid crew and available 24hrs a day which is critical if you are in the logistics business. They like any other smaller business can only take on so much at a time but have always managed to get us in as quickly as possible or come to our aid where ever we are.

The mechanics at Hal Burns are very good. However, the management and the way customers are treated and abused is UNACCEPTABLE. During my 2 week stay there and suffered from verbal abuse and misdiagnoses, I witnessed and personally talked with 3 other VERY UNSATISFIED customers. And these are not small jobs of triviality. My recommendation: Do everything possible to take your RV or TRUCK somewhere else. If you have to get work done there DO NOT talk with Paul (Floor Manager) or David Burns (the owner). Both individuals are POTENTIALLY VIOLENT. I had to call POLICE before I towed out of there because I was nearly assaulted by the Owner.
