Mountain Tech Automotive is an absolute gem! I can't praise their service enough. My truck had an issue, and they not only diagnosed it promptly, but also fixed it on the same day. Their efficiency, equipment and pricing is remarkable! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated to solving your vehicle problems. I'm incredibly satisfied with my experience and would recommend Mountain Tech Automotive to anyone in need of reliable automotive services. This shop is not good for major repairs. Had them replace a faulty turbocharger, and they cannot seem to locate the leak still in the system - because you didn t ask us to diagnose it . I suspect incompetence and lack of knowledge. Additionally, I resent the hell out of mechanics who assume women don t know about cars. The owner is a class A misogynist, on top of being barely civil. His guarantee only applies to cars he can actually fix.You want your oil changed, brakes, simple things, etc. he s probably acceptable, but don t expect greatness.

Do not go here! I got a quote before I authorized them to do the work on my truck. They called me later in the day to say it was ready. They did exactly the work I authorized them to do, nothing more. But when I went to pay, the bill was now just shy of FORTY PERCENT more! He had no excuse except that he didn t remember he had already given me an estimate! He would not budge on the price. And then he had the nerve to charge an additional 3% because I was using a debit card to pay! I could ve brought a check to pay had I known. This place is a rip off! They have no idea what customer service is! They lost a customer for good.

Try someplace else. Especially if you own a travel van, don't take it there. They "don't want no nasty car." We keep a clean car; we just like to adventure flexibly. But they never even saw it. As soon as they knew we traveled in it, that was their response.

Mountain Tech Auto and Kyle,the owner,deserve a 5 Star rating! My Cadillac was at another garage for over 3 weeks. At that time,I was told my car could not be fixed by any other auto shop in Ruidoso and the best option would be to drive it to El Paso! Let me mention that Im a 76y/o widow and my car had a blinking,red warning light to service my transmission bc soon it would be unable to shift gears!! The car was driven to Kyle s Mountain Tech Auto. First thing in the morning,Kyle called me and stated,the computer showed the gearshift/computer needed to be replaced and,if it was ok for $35. overnight shipping fee,it would be ready the next morning.Thank you,Kyle,for your professional expertise.We are blessed to have you in Ruidoso.

Extremely rude service! My mom drove from Alamogordo to get her car serviced. She was running late and contacted them to inform them prior to arrival. At the arrival the mechanic approached the person working the front stating he was going to refuse to work on my mothers car. The woman working the front desk stated that she called and said she would be late trying to assist my mom and even stated that my mom had drove well over 45 mins. The mechanic still refused. Not only did he refuse he laughed and showed no compassion at all. For me this was not only unprofessional but felt discriminatory. I would most definitely beware of this place and will be reaching out to AAA to take this place off their list of recommendations. No one should ever experience this feeling of what my mother experienced.

I've had two vehicles in here for repairs. Both times the owner was rude to me. He has a chip on his shoulder. I won't be back.

This is one of those occasions where we didn't actually use their service but rather had direct interaction with them while scheduled to use their service. And they were great! We were in a tough spot while traveling and they responded with a willingness to help and get us back together. They listened to our issue over the phone, rearranged schedules on there end to fit us in, were friendly, commutative, and overall great to work with. We are very thankful for their efforts even though we couldn't make it to their shop in time.They are on my short list of shops to trust working on our cars. From our experience, we recommend Mountain Tech.

I couldn t be more grateful for this business. Ruidoso is my second home. In 32 years not one of us has had any issues with our cars until recently. I called as they were the first to pull up on a search. I just drove in from East Texas with no issues and suddenly my SUV started mis firing. I walked in blind, not knowing anyone there. I very much appreciated the directness of the owner. I was a walk in and knew my car would have to be worked in as they could with their other appointments. There was zero guarantee of getting my car back in timely manner and a vehicle can t be diagnosed over the counter. The owner called the following morning at 10am and had my car ready. Extremely fair price to the point of me asking are you sure . Everyone was kind and helpful. when I left my car there I had confidence I chose the right one. A few things i noticed in addition 1. the waiting area is clean and smells great. 2. the owner greeted other people by first name. This showed me he had a working relationship with his customers and they were return customers.Very grateful to know you are around the corner and that this didn t happen on the way back to East Texas.Jenny- from TexasService: Transmission

Mountain tech did an excellent job diagnosing and repairing my car. We had unexpected car trouble while vacationing in Ruidoso. Spoke with Kyle prior to having the car towed there. Despite having a full shop of other cars, Kyle was able to work us in and did a thorough diagnostic assessment. Repaired the car in excellent working condition.So thankful to have found this auto shop and allowing us to continue enjoying our vacation.Hats off to mountain Tech!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Battery

Worst place you could ever go to. Rude and disrespectful. How they could ever be affiliated with AAA is beyond me in fact they have been reported and I m hoping they will soon be discredited. If you happen to be a female steer clear of this place you can get your vehicle repaired for much less elsewhere. BEWARE this place is a rip-off, DO NOT waste your time or money. If I could rate them below a 0 I certainly would.

Traveling from Maryland when we broke a ball joint on our Jeep. Coach-net roadside assistance reached out to Mountain Tech Automotive and Kyle said he could look at it same day. Kyle gave us a quote for the issue and had us rolling 4 hrs later. Thanks again Kyle

I set a Wednesday appointment online Monday before the 4th of July. When I showed up Wednesday, I was informed the appointment didn't carry over. The reason given, the owner didn't check the website on Tuesday the 4th.

Excellent service! Had a dead battery, and since this automotive shop is only a few blocks from the vacation home where we were staying, I walked to it. Even though it was during the lunch hour, the owner drove me back to my car and jumped it for me. Once I drove my car to his shop, he checked it out and found that all I needed was a new battery. Kyle and his wife were super friendly and had me back on the road within 30 minutes. Highly recommend them!

My jeep shifting linkage broke up on Monjeau lookoutIt poured rain . Jeep was stuck in low 4x4. I eventually got the jeep in 4x2 and drove through the pouring rain. The jeep is stuck in drive . I can t turn off the motor and I have no park or reverse. I limp into this business, (15 years ago I had an issue with a Passat coming down from ski Apache and these folks were AMAZING ), I briefly tell my story and the guy at the counter glibly asked me if I wanted a 2 o clock appointment in 3 days. All I needed was a dry spot and a tool or two . I mentioned again that I couldn t turn off the jeep or go any direction but forward and he sent me packing . Boo

These guys are great! My alternator went out on a Friday while I was traveling NM. They didn't have the correct part in stock (my van is pretty old), but they offered to order the part and come in on a Saturday morning when they were closed to fix it so I wouldn't have to wait around until Monday. The owner ended up finding the part in Alamogordo and sending his wife all the way there to get it on Friday afternoon right before they closed. Super appreciative that they put in so much effort to make sure I wouldn't be stuck there all weekend!

Had my first 'breakdown' on my 1999 Mercedes. Called my service center in Tucson and was advised that symptoms were classic caused by a certain part. Service center found the part locally for me, had the car towed to Mountain Tech Auto and Kyle, the owner, took excellent care of me - his tech had diagnosis confirmed and part installed, all in less than 2 hours - great service - highly recommend this service repair center. As a side note, Downs Towing took car to Mountain Tech and they were also very prompt, professional and courteous.

Tried to take my vehicle into this shop. He was extremely rude while asking questions about my vehicle. When asked why he was being so rude, he ran outside to tell my tow truck driver to get my vehicle out of there. Not sure if he was having a bad day, but that was extremely poor service.

We've had car trouble twice while visiting Ruidoso for a family ski vacation. Both times, Kyle has gone out of his way to make sure we where taken care of. He's built a wonderful business by doing the right thing for his customers and being a generally friendly guy.

Warning lights on my hybrid SUV came on just as I got to Riudoso from Arizona, and the power started to fade. Was worried about getting hybrid repairs done in Riudoso, but liked what I read about Mountain Tech Automotive. Took the vehicle in the next morning; they diagnosed the problem (fuel pump malfunction), ordered parts, and did the repairs after the parts arrived. Drove perfectly on the way home. Great job, and less expensive than online research suggested the cost would be.

Kyle was very friendly and helpful with the emergency repairs to our Suburban last week while we were on vacation in beautiful Ruidoso. He even arranged alternate transportation for us while he fixed it. Extremely hard to find an honest mechanic these days, but we did at Mountain Tech. Thank you Kyle.

Like a previous reviewer, I too had my first breakdown with my 1993 Mercedes. On a Friday morning no less. After reading that review, I called Mountain Tech at 8:00 am. Within an hour they had a tow truck at the hotel to pick up my car and had diagnosed the entire problem by 12:30. Being a Mercedes [and an old one at that] parts were not available locally. They ordered my parts Friday from Phoenix and they came in Tuesday and Wednesday. My car was back on the road at 3:00 Wednesday. They did an excellent job and MUCH cheaper than I had been quoted back home. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and more than professional. I could not be happier with the work they done on my car. If you need a mechanic in Ruidoso, Mountain Tech is THE place to go!
