would genuinely leave a 0 star. As some of the previous reviews have stated, people take in their cars and drive off with it needing more work. Exactly my case. I was told by word of mouth & my in laws that this mechanic shop is honest & has good reputation. Incorrect. Took my car in Friday, was charged $930 for a $80 part (5hr labor for a part that should take at most 2hrs) and drove off with more issues that could've caused my car to catch on fire. Was also told I needed new brakes all around which was also incorrect. Total would've had to spend over $3000. Luckily I took it to another shop in which they confirmed my breaks only needed lubricant & will be getting all else fixed that was messed up at richards. Expenses aren't the issue as clearly taking my car to a mechanic l'm ready to pay to get my car fixed.PLEASE find a genuine and honest mechanic because this is not it. Richard, I'm embarrassed your shop has now had this reputation due to the mechanics you have in your shop. Do better.update: sent Richard a picture of my brakes as well as second opinions from other mechanics regarding my AC compressor that was messed up. Richard never responded and failed to take accountability.

It s unfortunate to leave 1 star as 0 should be the appropriate rating. Dishonest work, over charging, racking up unnecessary labor times. Came in for one thing, left with another fix on my vehicle. It s hard to find a shop these days who genuinely cares about automobiles and is not in it for the money.

I should have read the other reviews before I decided to have my radiator replaced here. To say that the job they did was terrible would be an understatement. For over $500, my car almost caught fire after I left the shop and I had to spend $200 more to have another mechanic shop fix their mess. This place is a scam!

What a horrible garage! I put $400 cash in that mans hand and the gave me back a broken car! The care didn't get around the corner before the grinding and clanking noises started again, so I call the owner and get approximately ALL OF THE ATTITUDE. Full with rhetorical questions like "do you remember your car was locked up and we made it roll? You remember that?" YES I REMEMBER. I also remember the noise the car was making when I brought it to you and it's STILL BROKEN. I have to pay another garage only 3 days after paying this one to get my car properly fixed. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Get it done right the first time

Not a good experience. But it has been almost 20 years since I last dealt with Richard's automotive so maybe things have changed. let's hope.

Trusted them with my fianc�s car with a few different repairs. Got the car back with a issue that we never even started with. Car will barely start & drive.Usually trustworthy and dependable mechanics will admit when they ve made a mistake or may have missed something during a repair. Not these guys. They've refused to take responsibility or even offer some kind of help in repairing whatever that s damaged now. We paid them over $400 only to be left with a bigger more urgent problem than before. We re devastated. Please don t trust these people.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Transmission repair

My car was having issues, I took my car in to Richards Automotive to replace my oil pan and spark plugs. They charged me around $580, a couple of days passed and my car is having more issues and starts smoking when i drive it now. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. When i took it back in to have them fix what they messed up, all he wanted to do was interrupt me and keep telling me how my car was not in working condition in the first place and that now my engine is flooded in oil. THEN PROCEEDS TO TELL ME HE IS WORKING ON A VEHICLE NEXT WEEK AND IT WILL BE FOR SALE IF IM INTERESTED. DO NOT GO HERE! Nothing but stress, horrible customer service and even worse work done. What a disappointment. After talking to another mechanic and even he saying that Richards is responsible for any repairs after working on it, and me not signing away liability, at the very least i should be getting a refund, nonetheless more. Would give 0 stars or less in this review if it were possible. Pathetic.

Used Richard s based on good online reviews. First repair was ok, but second time using them our car s problem was not corrected. Expensive and not responsive when you return to get the original problem fixed. They keep your car longer than promised and still problems not fixed. No waiting room and appointment times not honored. Very frustrated with Richard s and ended up going to the car dealer after Richard s failed to fix problems while charging premium price. Don t use them if you value your car and your time and don t have money to waste!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

They helped me out pretty quickly and accepted me as a walk-in. I used to go to Pep Boys, but now I want to go here because of the great service. Prices were cheap, and they fixed my O2 tank and vaccum quick. This was a good mechanic. They were friendly and professional too. Richard kind of has a rude tone towards me for some reason. Not sure what the problem is. Maybe because I m uneducated in the field of automotive maintenance. So?

I have used Richards automotive many times over last 5 years. Older, single woman with25 y.o. Ford F150. They always care, do what they say and if they find it needs less work than we agreed to, they charge less. They never do unnecessary work. Only problem is Re so good very busy. Phenomenal service, fixed my mother-in-law's car in less time than it took for the dealership she bought it from to diagnose it and now it runs better than when she bought it, I would absolutely trust Richards with my vehicles. Hell they were so fast and so thorough I'd trust them to give me heart surgery thank you guys for bringing a saga of stress and anger to a very satisfying end!

Richard and his daughter are awesome! My car had serious issues and Richard was very honest with me about the problem. He did everything he could to figure out what the issues were, I appreciate his honesty. Had to scrap car because it was not worth the cost to fix it. But thanks to Richard, I was able to make that choice! I found my new mechanic shop, I appreciate them so much!

Called Richard's Automotive late Friday morning with cooling thermostat problem. Being from out of town, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to be seen that day. He asked how soon I could be there? I showed up 15 minutes later. He ran a diagnostic and narrowed down the issue, ordered the part, installed part and re-ran diagnostic ensuring no more codes appeared. Great service for walk-in business on a Friday much less. Thanks for fixing my truck!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Always a great experience. I could not be happier with using Richard's every time. It is a shop that I know that I will get a great deal, work done correctly, and wonderful customer service. It is hard to find an honest mechanic in town, now you don't have to look any further. It sad that in a review you have to say they have honest pricing and your best interest in mind but in this town there are some shady shops. On top of it all Richard's a wonderful person and an outstanding member of the community. You really can't feel better about bringing your business to his.

Went there for help to remove a a nut from drive shaft.. mechanic used an impact drill to remove it. He removed it quickly and when I asked how much I owed the owner told me.. not to worry about it and I was amazed that he didn't charge me. When I need a mechanic I know where to go but hopefully not soon. They were very professional. I rolled highly recommend them.

I cracked my fender while backing up over a cement parking block and a piece of the fender was dragging. I went to Richards and they had me back on the road in under half an hour. Every staff person was very friendly and caring towards me and the other customers there. Thank you for your great service!

I took my Toyota 4runner here because it was leaking coolant. I was very worried about the cost and because it s my only means of transportation. They assured me they would take care of it. I dropped it off around 10 am, and it was done at 3 pm! Their pricing was very fair, and they were so friendly. It s a family run business, so I d much rather support them, rather than Pep Boys or another chain. If I have future problems, I will be back!

I will say this!!! Richard's knows his engines. I was very impressed by his knowledge which lead me to do the right thing and get my rear differential completely don't right. And his guys did it. Called to see what was wrong with our vehicle after Brake Masters could not figure out the problem.Richard and his staff checked our entire vehicle and found the problem was our tires. He was kind, professional and courteous.We will go back to him!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Was traveling from White Sands trying to make San Antonio before dark and blew the radiator on my 2001 Ford F-350 7.3 L. Richard and his crew had me back on the road in 4.5 hours. Even suggested a great local tow service to get my ride to their shop. Great customer service and great work. Made the 500+ mile trek across west TX to San Antonio in almost 100 degree temps without any probs. Thanks guys!!!

Called around to check prices and was quoted $90 for my service. So I went in to have them take a look. After they confirmed it was as expected, Richard (the owner) told me that if they didn't have it fixed there, it'd be $45 for the inspection--which was never mentioned, not over the phone or before they took it in for the inspection. Not to mention, now the price was $180ish to fix the problem!VERY MISLEADING!!Feeling obligated; I had them fix it, picked it up when finished and proceeded back to my home. The next morning when I started my vehicle, I noticed a ticking/squeaking sound. Having paid for a "engine steam cleaning (only for them to clean where oil leaked; another rip-off)", I figured gunk/grit of some kind found it's way to a pulley causing the noise.I, then, drove back to the shop and spoke to Richard, where he adamantly refused to rectify the problem! I continued to push for him to own up to causing the new issue and fix it. However, he said that it "wasn't his fault and I'd have to pay for them to fix the pulley."In conclusion; over $230 dollars later, a new problem they won't fix and HORRIBLE customer service:DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!!

My father took his very old Chevy in to get fixed, only to find out that many of the wires were set incorrectly and one of the mechanics had tried to stash some of the truck parts away in one of his own tool boxes. My father hasn't been able to move his truck ever since.

Price was fair and they got my mini cooper figured out in 24 hours. They even helped co-ordinate towing from the parking lot I broke down in... good people who do good work.

Great custom service, Great family , fast turn around and good price , I took my 2008 corvette c6 2 times to Richard and I m always happy, Highly recomended , great shop will take my vehicle to him from now on for any issues !!
