Great honest mechanics that don't try to Trump up problems when you bring your car in for service.No nonsense, just quality work at fair prices.This place can work on any brand and model vehicle.If you are on the east side of Las Cruces and need a mechanic, ho here!

I took my 1996 Acura in a month or so ago, and was extremely satisfied with the service. The folks here are very knowledgeable and professional, and do a great job communicating about the work they do. Cliff is a very honest, dedicated owner and family man.On the way to Phoenix, we had a mechanical issue with our Honda si. He made sure that our car was completely 100% dependable so that we could continue our journey back to Phoenix.Highly recommend, especially for late model Honda performance vehicles.

The crew at Bernard Automotive is very professional and top notch. Passing through Las Cruses during the holiday weekend our Camper Van didn t want to start. I figured it was our starter. Called around many places which just went to voicemails. Tyler answered the call and gave me up front honest answers from the first phone call. They made time to look at our problem and get it fixed for us. I would definitely recommend them for my mechanical needs!

I was traveling through Las Cruces from West Michigan. My truck had issues coming into the city on a Monday night at 6pm. Was driven to Bernard Automotive from a local who said that he loves Cliff and the shop. Well, Cliff was more than considerate and worked after hours to tow my truck to his shop. As I was living in the bed while I road tripped across the country, Cliff allowed me to stay in it Monday night. On Tuesday after we found out the transmission would need to be rebuilt, I sold the truck to Cliff for a reasonable price, and he was very kind. He understood my circumstances and was more than accommodating for the next few days by letting me stay at his house while I arranged to fly back to MI. I refer anyone and everyone to this shop. You don't come across better people or businesses than Cliff and his business.Services: Transmission, Transmission repair

I needed a new engine a over a year ago. I bought the parts and they installed it. They were very kind and got it done within a week. The car is still running amazingly. Pricing was great. They were very professional. Never made me feel uncomfortable (I've had mechanics that laughed at me for having concerns and thought what I was saying was ridiculous). I've recommended them to a friend for an oil change and my friend said they really enjoyed their service.

Transmission fluid change and spark plugs I was charged $740. That's double what it should have cost. I needed new alternator and pulley they said it would be $980. I didn't have the money so I went to pick up my car. The manager made me go with him over to my car and he opened the hood and wanted me to look at the engine and agree that they put everything back together correctly. (How the heck would I know). Really weird. Also they charged me $110 for the time it took to determine the alternator and pulley was bad (I already knew that and told them so when I dropped off the car). I found another mechanic to do the job. Charged me for alternator and pulley $230. Took him 2 and half hrs to do the job. he charged $200 labor. Total $430 compared to bernards $980.

Absolutely love all of them! Hard working, genuine people. Don't over charge, don't do things your car doesn't need! Dealership quoted me $758 to fix my problem, Bernard's was able to fix what actually needed fixing for $216!! $542 less!! They saved me that much! Super honest, highly recommend!

We had scheduled couple of appointments across the street. Guy was never in as had family emergencies and did not answer or return calls. Had our neighbors vehicle returned multuple times not working and he would not answer when they were checking if car fixed. Enough complaint about othersTalked to Brandy at the front had us fill out contact info and problem with car so she could start working on a quote. I am disabled and have already attempted repair three times. Take me a week to recover in pain so can not try again as getting colder out. They could not get car in right away without dropping it off and working in. We set appointment so we can know car looked at on specific day as only vehicle we have. We drive past this place and they always have multiple bays open with new cars waiting in parking lot. They have been this way for years.Will update once they have done the work. Very optimistic this place will take care of us.

If you are looking for an honest place you can trust this is the place. They will do everything they can to help you and save every dollar they can for you. With high prices these days it makes a huge difference. These guys can also fix anything you are having trouble with. Overall disappointed. Since cliff has been out of the office for personal reasons. The integrity & accountability of his staff has become non existent. I replaced the fuel pump myself which ended up being a faulty part. I took my vehicle in to have to motor mounts done. I explained to them what I had already done & what I had suspected to be a faulty fuel pump. Curious to see if they would even check the pump as they charged me to diagnose the fuel pump. I put tape over the cover which I signed by hand with a marker. When i go to pick up the vehicle the tape was not removed which clearly showed they did nothing to attempt to check or diagnose the pump other then charge me $100. Which is the most unhonest thing I think a mechanic can do. Say something is wrong with a car that they never even attempted to look at or truly diagnose. I love cliff I used this shop for years when he was the one who worked on my vehicle personally. But I have no faith or trust in the men currently running his shop who obviously are not honest & have zero integrity. Payed $100 for them to do nothing. They also wanted to charge me over 2.5hrs of labor for a job that took me 30mins maximum. & over $500 for a new fuel pump assembly. After towing the car back home I broke down the fuel pump assembly a second time put a new pump in $40 in total and of course the car starts & runs perfectly fine. The capability of your average mechanic nowadays is little to none at best. Its literally a insult to someone like me who has worked on and raced cars/ motorcycles whole life. Just simply does not have the time to do it anymore working 60+hr work weeks. Cliff I'd love for you to reach out & contact me but it's sad & I hate to say I will no longer be using your shop or recommending it like I have to dozens of people even keeping extra business cards of yours on hand. I feel insulted I was charged at all to not even have my car looked at. Especially something that took me 30 mins but I was quoted over 2.5hrs from a "professional". -Tony H.

Came into the shop after a day at White Sands National Park after some car troubles occurred. Cliff Bernard, the owner, was extremely helpful in sorting out the problem. Despite the fact they were closing very soon after we arrived, he stayed open and got things done. Very good price and very good at helping to explain the problem at hand. The mechanics themselves were also great. Could not recommend more to someone who is local or just passing through.

Referred highly by a friend was very pleasantly surprised to be even better than anticipated. Professional knowledgeable thorough and on time! Had to get my engine replaced. Bernard Automotive did a fine job. It took some time b/c of supply chain issues--all the car part factories had shut or slowed down. We will take vehicles there in the future.

If you want your car to work perfectly, take it to Bernard's. Cliff the manager will treat you right and will be very honest with you. Expect great results from them. I am so happy with my Camaro's results; it finally drives smooth and shifts quickly. I told Cliff that we are taking a long trip and he made sure the car is safe and will withstand the long trip and many more. I had taken my car to Pep Boys because it needed a new engine. Pep Boys actually had to install the engine twice because the car had a oil leak after the 1st engine was installed. They kept it for several weeks each time. They actually blamed the leak on the oil pan which had ding in it from 13 years ago. The ding even had the rust to prove it but I let it go. The car was still leaking transmission fluid and when I called Pep Boys, they said they didn't work on the transmission at all. I took the car to Bernard's because I didn't want anything to do with Pep Boys anymore. Cliff, said that the transmission dip stick was damaged when PB installed the engine. He found out a lot of other things that were either caused by PB or overlooked by them. I even had to insert the air intake back in its place and I had to take it back to PB to have them install whatever bolts it required to keep it in place, this was before I took it to Bernard's. When I took the car to Bernard's, Cliff was checking hoses attached to the engine and one came out in his hand and he pushed it in right away and said that the hose should only come out with special tools and that that the car could have caught on fire. I did file a complaint against Pep Boys and I told them that all I wanted was permission to take it to Pep Boys in El Paso. It's been 2 weeks and no one has contacted me, although, I was told they would in 2 days. It cost me $6000.00 at Pep Boys but their mistakes, of course, are costing me more. So again, if you want a safe, reliable car, take it to Bernard's.

I was in trouble with my old van travelling towards White Sands National Park. I stopped there to know what was wrong and I couldn't find a better place. Cliff was there and took immediatly care of me. He jumped into my car to see what was the problem. He did find it, explained me the whole thing and advised me. He was really helpfull, professional and nice as his partner who gave me lot of destinations to go to visit on my trip while Cliff was working on my van !I definitely recommand them !Thank you again and again you were this kind of angels I really needed that day !

Excellent mechanics, quality work explained and promptly and correctly done. Familiar with everything from antique and classic cars to late model vehicles. Extremely fair prices. You can't go wrong here.

Very professional and honest. Yes I know it's hard to believe that a automotive repair shop is honest and caring because it's so rare but I assure you if you have been looking for the last place you will ever have to take you automobile you have found it. Don't take my word for it go down there and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Great service! Explained what was damaged to my front driver wheel and axle, made the repairs...no problem as of yet. Cliff took the time to show me the damage or took pics of the broken parts..honest mechanic.

So I went to get ac charged and everything leaked out and the manager said it was my fault and stated they did a pressure check. They did not as I sit at Volkswagen and there was a small leak and they took care of it.
