Don't judge a book by it's cover. Honestly I enjoyed my stay here! It is an older building but it is well kept. It was clean and the rooms were actually pretty nice for the price point you're paying in a resort town. Desiree was amazing and helped take of care of us, she went above and beyond to make our stay worth while. You really can't ask for more in a small mountain resort town where other resorts run 300+ a night. When I come up here I'm only in my room to sleep. I'm not looking for 5 star accomodations. It was a great stay for a warm, safe, and clean place to stay!

This place is old and the rooms are disgusting. We walked in and the interior frame of the door was falling off, and the bed sheets were not clean at all. They were stained and had dried boogers on them. The rooms share a door and you can hear everything in your neighbors room. The windows have zero privacy because the curtains are broken and won t even stay together so we had to put our luggage up in the window. The so called amenities here are trashed and the entire place looks like a yard sale of personal belongings from the manager who lives on site. We paid $185 for a one night stay here and let me tell you I would not pay $50 for this room. We will never come back and recommend you find a nicer well kept place to stay.

Avoid staying here at all costs! If I wasn't past the cancelation window I would have driven over an hour away to stay anywhere else. Stains on the bed sheets, comforter, towels, and guest chairs. Only 1 lamp worked within the room, the window AC unit didn't extend all the way, and the window didn't have a screen so our window was literally open 24/7. The bed was sagging in the middle, and the bed didn't have a mattress protector, just one thin layer of a sheet between you and hundreds of people who have slept there before. Only good thing that happened was that we didn't get broken into despite having a window that didn't close. There is also no dead bolt on the door, just a single key.Only fair things about this stay: bathroom was clean and well lit, they had an iron and hair dryer, and the large TV and wifi worked fine.Ultimately, it was way too dirty to feel comfortable at all. Over a $100 a night is way to high for this kind of stay.

Drove all the way to NM for a business trip. Had the reservation set up months in advance. Arrived well before check in time closed....the hotel was closed. A man came and told us to leave the property because they were closed. Apparently only 1 person works here (I called) and they didn't bother to call the folks that had reservations set up that day. Yikes.

The rooms are really nice and clean they have been updated beds are comfortable. Braden was who helped me in making the reservations for my elderly mother and I so that we could see the colors of fall. Braden made our check in so easy and smooth we had a handicapped room very close to the office which made it easy to get the great breakfast in the morning that they have in the office. Views from our room were beautiful and the fresh mountain air was great. We will definitely stay here again!!! High five to Braden for a job well done!!!

Excellent affordable hotel in quiet Eagle Nest. Second floor lake view rooms display the valley in a manner not seen anywhere else in town or even in Angel Fire. Even better than the views is the awesome staff - I was fortunate to stay for a week and met most of the caretakers. They are the highest quality of people and made my stay more enjoyable. Put this hotel on my radar permanently.

Got there at 8pm and Noone was in front office. Had to grab key off a cork board by front door. Went up to room and it wasn't clean. There was a used wash cloth in the bathroom, no towels and the spout on the tub was not installed so could take shower. Had to call a number to talk to someone and then had to go back down and grab a different envelope with different room key, and then had to move all our stuff. The second room wasn't much better. Was very disappointed in this place. they don't have air-conditioning, they have a fan to put in window. Way overpriced for what you get.

I had very high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed. Don t know where to start.PROS: It has a lovely, log-cabin style design as the exterior of the building; It is in a beautiful and convenient location; it was easy and simple to talk to staff on the phone to make the reservation and any time I had to make changes to my reservation, they would return my calls super fast.CONS: When we arrived at the Econolodge in Eagle Nest, there was no staff at the motel at all. The office was dark and locked; since there was no one there to assist us, they had pinned my room key, with a note, to the outside wall of the motel office; I had reserved an accessible room for my elderly parents and handicapped mom, but there were zero lights on outside the motel, and we had arrived at night. A dangerous and most inconvenient situation; the floor next to the bed was warped and my handicapped mom fell due to the floor boards being warped; the heavy iron hung haphazardly above where my mom was sleeping; we had received a note with the key stating that there would be a full breakfast from 7-9:30. So the next morning, we get up, go to the office, but it is still closed! NO ONE was there and it was still locked and dark. No full breakfast not even a small continental breakfast. Nothing. And no one; there was a number to call on the front of the office door. I called it several times. No one answered and no one returned my calls. (This was a stark contrast to how they answered and returned my calls BEFORE i got there.) I decided to not stay another day or night (I had reserved it for four nights). I had to check out by pinning my key back onto the outside wall of the motel.Needless to say, I will never stay there again and I would never recommend anyone stay there!

The owner was great, very polite and helpful. The room was clean but a few simple maintenance things have been neglected. The bulb was burnted out in the bathroom, the toilet was loose and the sink was slow to drain. This is the first time in many years that I've seen a tube tv in a hotel room. While the location and owner is great I think some money needs to go into updating the rooms.

Excellent experience here. Very friendly owner, good breakfast, cozy, very clean room. I appreciate the heat lamp in the bathroom. Water pressure was great, a nice relief after driving in from Florida .My dog was welcome as well. The scenery surrounding the econo lodge is beautiful!Very fair priced!

We had to stop early in Eagles Nest on our way to Taos due to a snow storm that blew in. We stopped at the econolodge and were greeted with a super warm smile and a handshake from the owner. The room was nice and warm. The bed s were comfortable. Very clean setup. Breakfast was also great. Nice FAMILY ran business. Not something you see too often. Highly recommend this place.

Made a reservation through Priceline at 1:44pm. Arrived at the motel at 8:20pm and the office lights were turned off and the door was locked. Called the phone number on the door 20 times with no answer. Called the main hotel number many times with no answer. It was 15 degrees outside and snowing. Currently working with Priceline to try and reach a solution. This is unacceptable.

The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was polite. The only bad thing was that I was accidentally charged for an extra day by the manager, but he made sure to help fix the problem and get my money back. I was upset about it that day so I posted a review on here which was partly exaggerated and partly truthful. Overall it was a bad review, and I feel bad for some of things I said. But once I left the review, is when all hell broke loose. He called multiple times a day. Leaving voice mails, and even threatening to come to my home town 2 states away. It was harassment. He harassed our family and told my parents that they didn t know how to raise a kid. All over a review. So remember, if someone leaves a bad review of your business, call and harass them because that always works. And if you stay at this hotel, just don t leave a review.

I keep seeing the reviews about how lovely the owner and stuff is or how nice and clean. But I cant say the same. We got a room due to our campers water heater went out. Showers were needed, especially with having babies. We called to make the reservations around 9. Only took about 45 mins to get here. When we arrived the hotel said open but doors where locked and there was a paper stating to call a Chad to get into the hotel and check in. We waited for about 30 to 40 mins. Before we actually got a hold of someone to get us in to a room. So far the experience is horrible. And not only that but when we ask for queen you get full.... not the brightest when you have a toddler that sleeps with you!!!!So if you want better service for a hotel drive your extra 30 miles and go to Taos or Cimmaron!!!

Stayed one night and booked two rooms. Both rooms were dirty as the carpet in one had left over dog food/hair on the floor. Both rooms smelt like wet dog. The bath tub in room 106 leaked horribly and was cracked. Not too sure if the sheets were clean as they were stained. Would not recommend staying here.

Spur of the moment road trip on labor day weekend. Very friendly staff, we weren't going to have breakfast in the morning but when we were checking out decided to have breakfast and man am I glad we changed our mind the biscuits and gravy were absolutely amazing. They are very eager to please their guests. Only reason im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bed and pillows were not very comfortable, however, everything else was good!

Had never before stayed anywhere in Eagle Nest. Good lodging, friendly staff. Stopping earlier than planned was a good call. The drive to Taos was no problem the next morning in daylight.
