I love exploring the outdoors and grew up traveling to the national parks and state parks in Utah and surrounding states. This is a great hike. We saw many older people doing the hike and were so impressed! I thought it was a hike around a rim of a canyon from the pictures we've seen, but you go through the slots in the canyon, walk along the base, then go up the mountain. They have some steps, but some places can be a bit strenuous and you'll have to climb over rocks. Bring plenty of water when you go. It took us about 3 hours with kids, but they all did great! It was 106 degrees out when we went, but the breeze and shady spots made it bearable. I believe there rangers hike up to the top before 4pm and start hiking down at 4 and make everyone hike back with them even if they haven't made it to the top, for safety reasons. Great hike, get out and explore!

Fantastic views of slot canyons and "tent rock" hoodoos. Pretty easy and scenic hike to the overlook then continue on the cave loop, a total of 3.2 miles and 839 ft of elevation. I would have liked a longer hike but the views and scenery make a visit here well worth it. Get here early though, or you'll have to wait to get in. Opens at 8am.

Amazing scenery on a pretty easy hike. There is a little crawling and sliding on your rear end in sections but the trail is short and the views are spectacular. The only downside is that the park has a very small capacity and once it's full you have to wait for a car to leave before you are allowed to park.

Hiking the canyon trail was a great outdoor outing. It shouldn t take more than 2 hours up and down if you take you time to admire the scenery and take pictures. The trail is very easy for the most part, and the last climb towards the summit is a little steeper but is accessible to anyone who doesn t have any mobility issues.I suggest to take a left towards the cave trail on your back for a short but worthwhile detour.

Amazing Place. Reminds me of a Zion National Park Narrows trail meets the Upper Antelopes in AZ. Highly recommended if your in the area and want to experience an amazing trail. In certain areas the Canyon Trail Can get a little challenging because your climbing over rocks etc but it s definitely do able and I saw active 50 year old plus people doing it. There are also certain sections of the Cave loop trail that are very enjoyable for older individuals. I highly recommend the Canyon Trail really cool views.

This is such a beautiful place. Heavily trafficked, so you are passing people all the time. Regardless the serenity, beauty, and palpable energy are well worth the short trek. Slightly steep toward the end however that section of the trail is closed when very icy. Still, I reiterate that this hike is well worth it whether you make it to the top or not. It is gorgeous!

I grew up in NM and had never had the privilege of visiting this place until now. I am still in awe of the sheer beauty! Our kiddos were also in awe of their surroundings. I highly recommend this hike! A bit steep and narrow in places, but definitely worth it!

The loop trail is an easy 30 min hike. Dinner spots are super narrow, so walkers/wheelchairs/oversee people might have a hard time. There's only one spot where you have to scramble up something about shoulder height. Beautiful views! Must see!

Went there on a Saturday in February and it was great. The rocks are amazing and the hike was nice though it was blocked at the end by snow and ice. It was interesting to learn about what caused them-it seems like the whole west was built by volcanos, wind and water. Rangers we met were very helpful and friendly

This place is a gem. Used to be totally under the radar but the word is out. Worth the visit but you ll wanna go early. The hike is fairly strenuous with some pretty good climbs if you re not used to it. So kids and casual hikers be ready.

Stunning views at the top of the mountain plus a cool hike up to the top with a slot canyon. I would recommend going in the morning on a weekday because there are next to no people until 10 o'clock and it is significantly cooler in the morning. Bring a bottle of water and good shoes. Amazing hike for only $5.

The slot canyon trail was a great hike. It had beautiful rock formations all along the way. It was interesting going through some very narrow areas in the slot canyon. The climb to the top at the end made the hike a nice challenge and the views were great when you got higher!

I have lived in NM for 50 years and I had never been here. I was on a cleaning drive and mistakenly ended up here. I stood at a high point and took a deep breath and soaked in the natural beauty. I wasn't prepared that day for the hike, so i returned a month later with my daughter. I packed an apple, water & some nuts and set out to see what the wonder was. Wow! Bring good shoes and if you have terrible knees take it easy. I dont know why i waited so long to check it out It was tough the last 15 minutes to make it to the top but it was worth it. It will cost you 5 bucks I think but that's a small price to pay to experience this beautiful place with friends, your family and have an adventure. There are picnic tables at the base and I'd recommend you take the path to the right. Enjoy!

This place is ridiculously awesome! We went on Sunday and then again on Wednesday. It was a phenomenal experience both times. Do yourself a favor and make the hike to the top and go out as far as you can stand. It is beautiful!

An amazingly beautiful place roughly 38 Miles from Santa Fe with narrow canyons you can walk on their bottom and enjoy the fascinating stone formation. then climb to top and enjoy the view of mountains and valleys from the top. You gain 630 feet elevation. The walk from parking lot to top is roughly 1.2 Miles. There is another loop with cave in stone called Cave Loop and is roughly 0.7 Miles. This is a national monument with parking fee of $5 unless you have National Park Pass. Though parking area is not small but this national treasure is very popular and you may have to wait for parking spot.I suggest you go early to enjoy the place before the crowd comes and take nice pictures that you would not forget.

As others have said, there is NO WATER at this park so you must bring your own. You also should know that it closes at sunset but about an hour before then they sweep the path so that no one is still on it. If you arrive too late in the day, then, you may not be able to hike all the way to the end. There are definitely spots within the slot canyon that require scrabbling over rocks; nothing super challenging but it surprised me how much you had to use both hands and some concentration to do it. Don't forget sunscreen, either, as even though you begin in a shady slot canyon, it will eventually open out to sunny skies. This is a great hike with super cool views.

Utterly stunning hike, unlike any we had ever seen. Great for:A) observing the effects of erosion from both wind and waterB) pondering the history of a geological site that has been around for our personal observance for so longC) a solid bit of exercise, particularly when you start heading up in elevation. You gotta be at least kinda sorta in shape to see it throughD) seeing some of the most gorgeous views you've never even thought ofWhen you get to the top, you're satisfied in so many different ways that it's hard to pinpoint one exact reason you're happy you went. The one guarantee is that you will be. So just go, already!

Awesome day trip. Not to far from Albuquerque. We only paid $5 per vehicle. The Ranger/staff were super friendly. The views were amazing, not sure how I barely found out about this place but glad I did. My family was real happy about this place, we hiked all the way to the top of the mountain, this gave me a sence of accomplishment. Another good thing is the organization of the place, we had parking plus they have a limit on the amount of visitors at any givin time. We were allowed to bring snacks and drinks.

Great day out with the family!! Ask them to stamp your passport book at the gate when you pay. If you go on the weekend there will probably be a line and a wait to get in, there is limited parking! The canyon loop is the best and it's 3 miles to the end and back. You have to be at the top of the canyon loop and making your way back by a certain time so they can make sure no one is left in the canyon before they close. They take that time seriously! The hike at the top is a little steep but so worth it! Don't stop until you get to the top!

Must visit place for Albuquerque. It is about an hour north west of city. It is 5$ for entering per car. Please bring water in summerNo place to purchase water inside of the park.Slot canyon trail is really great place for close look of the geological creature. You should have to visit before it become so popular, and the trail may be limited access.

It s a must easy hike when you re in Santa Fe. Took us 50 minutes to get there and spent three hours easy hike and ate our sandwiches with a view. It was winter when we went around January so there s. Trail that s closed because of packed ice in between the rocks. Definitely pack your polarized camera lens if you want an spectacular photo of going in the middle of the day and yes take that bathroom run before starting your hike.

I love this place! It can be pretty hot in the summer, so go early in the morning. The slot canyon is breathtaking and the rock formations are really neat. You can hike to the top and back down in about 2.5 hours depending on your fitness level. There are times you have to climb up and over things, so keep that in mind if you have a disability or injury. This place is great for kids.

Very beautiful spot just near Santa Fe and wide hiking trails with lots wild flower lead you climb. Those tent rock have other rocks stand on top are unique. Take water with you at all for the trail.

Almost didn't make it to the park after we saw the line of cars waiting to get in. We took a detour and stopped by a visitor center at Cochiti Lake, where the guide told us we shouldn't miss Tent Rocks. On our next try, we were first in line for entry. The man at the gate was very helpful and drew us a trail for exactly where we should hike, and where we should take photos. Keep in mind - the park closes at 3, so everyone has to start back down the trail at 2:30. But the views are incredible, and well worth the hike. My sister and I covered it in about an hour or so. There were several moments of scrambling and jumping, some awkward footholds, and a few tight spaces. Overall, it was the most incredible landscape we saw on our trip.

One of the most scenic trail I have ever been. Where ever you turn, there is a view. It is just s stunning place to visit. The trail is only a 3 miles loop. It is not a very difficult hike. Then ground slippery because all the dry sand under your feet. Certain part of pathway is very narrow and a bit difficult to get through. I don't recommend young patents to climb this trail carrying on the back.

Beautiful place to hike! I would suggest going to the morning for you can enjoy it for most of the day and parking gets filled up fast. Try and go during the week if possible because weekend are really busy. It s also 5 dollars for parking so make sure you have some cash!

Excellent hike with one of a kind rock formations and views. Not too strenuous at all. We went in the winter and the upper portion of the trail that goes beyond the loop was closed due to snow.

My personal favorite hike so far in NM. Tent rocks is beyond beautiful and feels almost magical. Only a 1 hr drive from ABQ makes this hike worth it. Make sure you check the park hours, it takes approximately 2 hrs if you re taking your time to hike to the top of the lookout point through the Canyon Loop. It s a must do, the views are amazing. Make sure you take water and snacks. Have enough storage on your phone/camera for pictures through the tight and winding canyon and to take shots of the standing rocks. Enjoy and Happy Hiking
