We spent 5 nights here camping, with my sons staying at the Lodge for the same amount of time, and in typical fashion, it was an awesome experience. The camping has always been great, and the lodging is right up there as well. The breakfast for Lodge guests was over the top with waffles, bagels, pastries, cereal, etc. The breakfast area is very clean and well kept. My guys loved the coffee.We fished and caught at least 17 trout which we released, and spotted several deer in the area.If you want either the best camping or lodging experience this place is a no brainer. It s the only place we ll stay in Chama!!Leslie and Don are both great people and keep things in check.

A fantastic family runs this business with an RV Park and Lodge. Stayed in the Lodge, but I enjoyed every bit of the acreage here. Stayed in a pet friendly room. Book directly with place not on 3rd party for best rates and service. The Chama River runs on the property for catch and release trout fishing. Open year round. The closest ski area is Wolf Creek. If you are taking the Cumbres-Toltec train or just enjoying the beautiful mountain environment, or want to hunt and fish nearby, I highly recommend staying here. They even had a gorgeous Gratitude Garden, which would be excellent for a wedding, family reunion, or church retreat.Nearby activities: Train, skiing, snowboarding, hunting, fishing nearby

Excellent property, conveniently located near the river. Bring your fishing pole! Front desk staff is always pleasant and helpful with all of our questions and requests. The owners are the kind of people who meet you one time and remember your name (I was taught to do this, and I am always impressed by that in others). They genuinely care and want you to enjoy your time at this beautiful property. The property is clean and family oriented. You will feel safe letting your kids explore here. You can sit back and let your kids enjoy fishing, basketball, volleyball, and corn hole until dark. If your kids need a ball or corn hole set, they have them at the front desk to check out. We spent our afternoons at the BBQ areas with shade trees to get out of the sun. After dark everyone is respectful and quiet, you ll get a good nights sleep. Overall, I had a great experience! Highly recommend.

My family and I truly enjoyed our camping experience at this beautiful site. I was so impressed with all the improvements made to the campgrounds by the new owners. They are really lifting this place up. The Gratitude Garden is breathtaking and perfect for your next outdoor event. I grew up attending a family camp at this site every summer, and it has come a long way! You will not be disappointed. Not to mention, Don and Leslie are such great people. Treated us like family and they have big servant hearts. Thanks for a wonderful getaway at your site.

STAY AWAY! owner is worse than a prison warden. All the rules we felt like we could not leave our room.Says pet friendly but your pet cannot be on the bed or bark. Quiet hours are until 10 pm but we were asked to not have our dog bark in recreation area at 830 pm...will be charged if you dirty the towels. There's MANY more rules! Not to mention the rooms are run down..ours seemed to be still under renovation. No AC in 90 degree heat..I finally asked for a refund (got 40% back) and went next door where we could finally BREATHE. We're a hard working family of 4 but treated like juvenile inmates. Property has hundreds of cottonwood trees...terrible if you have allergies.

We stayed here for 5 weeks and Don and Leslie were amazing and friendly. They are hard working. Of course our youngest and their grandson hit it off and that was an added bonus. We will of course be back we LOVE Chama!!!

The owner, Don, was very nice. He showed me the room to see if I was going to like it before we even booked it. He made sure there was coffee & creamer in our room for my husband. Our room was clean & spacious and the towels actually smelled clean!! When I asked Don what was the check out time, he said, whenever you want. Your room is not booked tomorrow so there is no rush. He also made recommendations of places to eat breakfast in the morning. If you're passing through Chama, NM, I highly recommend this place.

There were several RV Parks to choose from in this area, SO GLAD WE CHOOSE Down Home Lodge & Family RV Resort! Don is very friendly and makes sure everyone s needs are met. We will always stay in this park when passing through. Thank you Don!

Let me start by saying I NEVER leave reviews. But, I was SO impressed, I knew I needed to this time. Down Home Lodge was VERY friendly and kind. A few weeks ago we were trying to get to our destination in Colorado when we were turned around for a forest fire in the area. We started calling everywhere in Chama to find a room. The first 2 times I called Down Home Lodge the call was dropped. He called me back. He knew why I was calling. The demand on the rooms that weekend were high because of large family reunion and many people displaced by the wildfire. But, he still CALLED ME back and then answered that he had no vacancies. Then a few minutes later called me again and stated he was able to secure a room for us after visiting with another guest. Who does that? He could have just waited another 5 minutes and gave it to the next person to call. But he didn't. He put a roof over our heads for he next 2 nights. They were even helpful in finding refrigeration to put groceries that did not fit in the dorm size refrigerator in our room. The hotel is dated. But it is easy to see that they are working hard to update the place. IT WAS CLEAN. The were so friendly and helpful. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!!

Place looked very unorganized. When I went up to front desk there was papers and clutter all over. First impressions are key to a good stay and I had none. Went to room and at first it looked spacious til you get to the restroom and it was so small. Ceiling was falling apart. Then no wifi no TV that had any good channels no phone direct to front desk. Reminded me of a old old super 6 motel. Two towels for 4 people. Construction materials laying in the front parking area. Not a good stay at all.... recommend seeking other accommodation!!!!

We stayed at the Down Home Lodge for two nights and we were very pleased with our stay. Don and Leslie (owners/operators) were very friendly and hospitable! We expect to be back soon!Nearby activities: Fishing in nearby lake

I think they are just settling in (new owners)The sheets were dirty, everything in it is old and dirty.The blinds were broken, you looked at everything outside. I don't recommend it!
