We hadn t planned on staying here, our initial reservation was at the Chama Hotel & Shops. Unbeknownst to us and the booking site we used, that hotel had changed hands and was not currently open for business. I googled pet friendly hotels in Chama and the Chama Trails Motel was the first one to show up. My husband called and thankfully they had a dog friendly room open. The woman working that evening was so friendly and cheerful, and checking in was a breeze. Our room was clean and tidy, we loved the aesthetic of the place, and they even provided us a bag with a blanket and a towel for each of our three dogs as well as treats for them. If we re back in this area again, we will absolutely plan to stay here.

We were not planning on staying here but we got stuck due to the snow storm that went through. We were on our way to CO. I found this hotel and as soon as I walked in we were welcomed, we were given a room and some info on where to get some help my husband had a flat, when I returned the lovely women at the desk had turned the heat on for us so that our room was warm. It was late by the time o got back and they even had the parking lot plowed because we had trouble getting out of it due to the depth of the snow.I would defiantly stay here again.Thank you ;)

Rooms are compact but they have everything you need, in a town that is small. The railroad terminus is here so during the train season and hunting season the town is busy.Nearby activities: Train Ride and the scenery and cooler mountain air.

This place is a gem. The hotel is nice, but the people make it a 5 star hotel. The owners have put their hearts into this place and it shows everywhere. Our 2 night stay started out quite normal, but ended up with a plumbing issue that was challenging to resolve (70 year old plumbing, nothing else to say). Austin and his team kept at it and kept at it for several hours until they had it resolved. They apologized endless (and needlessly, because we really understood if was out of their hands) and all was well at the end of the day. I would whole heartedly recommend this place and stay here again.

Such an amazing place. Family owned makes a true difference in service and quality. Thank you so much Austin for your help and your kindness. We can not thank you enough.Rooms: Big and well insulated. Plenty of Temp controls. Soft beds, HOT water, and nice floors. Lots of natural light in every room. Delightful.

Great little motel. Comfy mattress. AC fan can run continuous for white noise. Sizable shower. Clean room with cute New Mexico style detailing. High resolution TV and programming. Microwave and small refrigerator in room. Reasonably priced. Laundry facility on site. Friendly check in and follow up. Walking distance to grocery store and best taqueria and coffee/bake shop in town. About a mile drive to train station. Can see mountains in the distance. Would book this place again.

Staff was responsive for my last minute stay. They were able to give me a code for my room since my arrival was very late, after normal front desk hours. The room was clean, quiet, and easily accessible. I brought my dog and they left a thoughtful bag of goodies/supplies for her too and a nice note.Owners/management were very accommodating and friendly. Will stay again if I'm on that cross-country trek again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay. I had a friend travelling from Chicago who loved the "authenticity decor" of room #9. Its practical and clean for what we needed. We ended up with 1 king bed but had the optn to do 2 queen, no biggie. We were so tired from road trip that we just opted for rest and jgood enough. though i noticed a sauna thats not working or not in use which would have been nice bonus. This is just nice to have, maybe a future improvement. a clean bed and bathrm is all we needed for 1 night. we had cumbres and toltec train ride planned next day. Austin was accommodating, nice to get the story on the place. they were pretty fully booked, the fact that we had a choice to do 2 queen beds is good. Charming place for sure. Some nuances to power, but as soon as we knew how to turn them on with Austin's help, its all good. Everything works no show stoppers definitely cozy charming.

We stayed here 2 nights in order to be in Chama to ride the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. This Inn is very nice. We stayed in one of the upstairs king bedrooms. The decor is rustic Western, and fits the area well. The accommodations were clean and simple. There is beautiful artwork in the room. The room is suitable for summer or winter, as it has both heat and air-conditioning.Contactless check-in is available and very easy.

Don't let the word 'motel' scare you. This quaint little gem was a true find. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The bedroom & bathroom were spotlessly clean & the bed was super comfortable. It was a very quiet, cozy place, at a great price. Just an overall pretty motel & wonderful experience. The lady at check-in was really friendly & accommodating. You won't regret staying here & we'll definitely be back!

Easy in and out which is what we were looking for. Room lacked some attention to detail. The shower curtain was filthy, the tub drain almost didn't drain at all, carpet was grease stained and construction debris remained in corners of floor. Still, it was pretty quiet especially for being on a highway and checking in with a code was flawless.

Upon arriving, I was pleasantly surprised! I stopped here overnight for business travel and am glad I chose this motel. For starters: the managers Manny and Katrina are super friendly and hospitable! I appreciate them calling to check on me, as I was traveling at night. The room is super spacious and clean. The front office has every travel essential you ll need, snacks and souvenirs. I would definitely recommend this lodging if visiting Chama.

Very nice motel with very nice people running it. They were super helpful in giving us suggestions for places to eat and the beds were unusually comfortable. I say unusually because typically we find motel beds to be pretty hard and uncomfortable. Also, we goofed up and put one of those refreezable ice blocks in the room's freezer overnight and next morning we couldn't get it out. We told the staff about it and they took it out once it had thawed some. Then they put it in their freezer and held onto to it for us until we could come by in the afternoon to pick it up. Just really nice of them to do that.Nearby activities: This is a great place to stay if you go to Chama to ride the train.

What a great place we found in Chama. I would rate this quaint little motel 5 stars. We booked a 2 queen room that was immaculate clean, beds were super comfy, carpet was clean, wood floors in bathroom with self pumping bath products. No window blinds but shutters. Close to main road but surprisingly quiet. Refrigerator and microwave. My daughter and I couldn't stop talking about this charming little gem we found for our quick overnight stay. Employees were so friendly and courteous and provided us everything we needed. We will definitely be back when in the area.

What a great place to stay! I m a little leery of old roadside motels based on my past experience with places that are rundown and not so clean and noisy. There aren t a lot of choice for lodging in Chama so after reading the reviews online we booked a room and our hopes were exceeded from the start. We got a confirmation text message telling us what room we would be staying in which was really nice so we could pull right up to the room rather than having to check in then relocate the car- not a big deal but this was kinda nice. Mentioned this service when checking in and they said they aren t always able to do it but they try.The room was nice! Very clean. Recently renovated with a totally new bathroom- new tub, sink, toilet and tile. The room was large and freshly painted and the bed was very comfortable. I was concerned about road traffic noise from the highway a hundred feet away but I didn t hear a thing all night. The staff were super pleasant and helpful with dining recommendations. Would definitely stay here if I m ever in the area again.

My husband and I have stayed at this gem of a boutique motel several times and we will continue to return. The staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. The motel is pet friendly and the staff was happy to host us with our two pugs. Would recommend this place for anyone interested in staying off the beaten path at a place that is comfortable and welcoming.

Such wonderful people work there, they even let us pet their dog. Water had been out in town but they assured us they would give us bottled water and water and bucket to use the toilet. When we got there they had just gotten the water working and we were able to shower too. Their location was perfect about 5 min from Log River Ranch and a couple minutes into town. Five stars for kindness, very clean, small room but comfortable. Would stay there again.

I wasn t really sure what I would e getting here but relied heavily on the other great reviews and they did not mislead me. The outside looks a bit plain but the inside of the rooms have been tastefully redone, my room was very clean and had not odd odors. Definitely recommend!
