Pre booked an ADA room, they didn't have one available. There were no openings anywhere else so we took a regular room.Room was clean, however, no refrigerator, microwave or even an ice machine. We were told to go get ice at the mart down the road, a 40 minute walk in a town without Uber...Not a great experience.I will not our room was compt since they didn't have our ADA room.Nearby activities: The Chama has the railroad and a few shops. Do not go without a car. Roads are not safe to walk.Walkability: Do not go without a car. Roads are not safe to walk.No food delivery and restaurants are 15 minutes walk on a road without a sidewalk.

Dont trust your booking if you need ADA - Booked an ADA room 2 months ahead, called multiple times to confirm they had our reservation and it was ADA, Also spoke with someone that said they would be able to pick us up from the Train station, Non of these things happened, arrived in Chama, was told they never pick people up from the station ( 5 mins Drive ) and once we finally got to the hotel, our room was on the second floor with no elevator. ( we were traveling with our 80yr old Grandmother ) Finally went to go get Ice and that was broke, Front desk said "yeah thats been broke since 2019, Most guest just go buy it from the market ( 3 miles down the road ). after realizing the mistake of the ADA room they did not charge us for the stay ( We would not have stayed but their were 3 weddings and an art convention in town that weekend, so no other choice then to Pray my Grandmother didnt fall going up and down the steps) Beds were acceptable ( what we expected at the price ) and room was mostly clean. Probably would have been 3 stars if didnt have the ADA issue. But I suggest looking for different accommodations.

Room was clean when we arrived. Very old needs update. Lady at checkin very nice. Great shower water very warm. Stayed two nights. Room Not cleaned or restocked with clean towels. Beds not even made. Left early morning for day on train and gone all day. We stayed on a Monday and Tuesday night. Not very busy during our visit. No excuse. TV reception really bad. NO breakfast at motel. We probably will not return to this motel. Totally not worth the cost! Very disappointed!

Small town, but large rooms. The water is always hot, and the rooms are clean. Even in below zero Temps, the climate control keeps the rooms comfortable. The front desk staff is very helpful.

The service and staff were great. They were very friendly and provided all the information needed for a good stay. The information was needed because this isn't a hotel chain where they have someone at the front desk 24/7. The front office closes at 10pm so if you lose your key you'll be locked out of your room until the morning. The room was really clean and spacious. The beds were firm and very uncomfortable.

We spent two nights at this motel in the very sleepy town of Chama where apparently nothing happens except the excursion train. As I mentioned in my review of the Chama Grill, restaurants close early in the afternoon (apparently even the bar usually closes before 6:00), so a nicer motel is a must. The owner was very pleasant and even offered to help us haul our luggage up to our second floor room. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds that were being fed by multiple feeders on the property. Beyond that, there really is nothing to do. Our TV was definitely on the blink, so even that wasn't an option. Thankfully, the train took up most of the second day and made the trip to Chama worth the while. The room we had was huge and had been cleaned well. There are no lawn chairs, so we hauled our room furniture outside and watched the aforementioned hummingbirds until it was too dark to see them. We then took a short walk down the quiet street next to the motel but returned rather quickly when we were heckled by some local men yelling that we were too dressed up for Chama. Not being armed, and not wanting to disappear while on vacation, we locked ourselves in our room for the night and slept in a very comfortable bed. Despite our bill coming out to $130 per night (with taxes), no breakfast is offered. We made coffee in our room and headed out. I understand these motel owners have to make enough money to cover a years' worth of bills during the train season (May to October) so we won't begrudge them the overpriced room. We would stay here again.

We stayed here the night before taking the train. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and well maintained, and it was central to everything in town. For the summer tourist season in this area the price was better than anywhere else also, even the no facilities cabins. There is no restaurant, but there is plenty to eat within a very short distance. I would recommend it and would stay here again.

When checking in Staff was friendly Manager was helpful. The next morning my daughter asked for extra towels. The lady was rude asked why she needed extra towels and ask exactly how many people were in our room. Then rudely told her she only had three and that all the towels better be there when we check out insinuating that we were going to steal the towels. We will never stay there again.

An older motel, but works just fine. Would give an extra star of it had a microwave and mini fridge, but the air conditioner works well which is the most important thing. No breakfast here, so you might want to pick up some breakfast pastries from the Lowe's down the street before calling it a night so you'll having some breakfast in the morning.

Tried to book a room for 3 adults and a service dog for my epileptic autistic 24 year old daughter and I was turned away! The woman I spoke to over the phone was extremely rude when I mentioned I had a seizure alert dog accompanying me and my family for my handicap daughter. She named many ridiculous rules and regulations that I have never heard of in the 5 years I have had my service dog. Some of these rules would not be possible to follow due to the needs my daughter has to have. When I tried to explain this, I was told I could not stay at this hotel. If you have anyone handicap in your family or party do not stay here or if you have a service animal.
