I would say this is a beautiful moderate difficulty in-and-out hike for a relatively inexperienced hiker. It is intermittently shaded by the forest, well marked, and can be completed in about an hour (with few breaks). For newer hikers, I recommend this place over the 10K trail because it is MUCH easier and still has a phenomenal overlook at the end of the trail.I'll note that this links with the Crest trail and 10K South, so you can add on length/difficulty, as desired.(Pictures are from last fall)Fees: There is a three dollar parking fee at the trailhead.

Hiked on 10/3/2021, $3 to park unless you have a national park pass. Glorious hike. Fall colors are beautiful. This is a steep and somewhat difficult hike with uneven, rocky terrain. When you get to the top, the views are breathtaking. It s quiet and serene. The trail is long so you can hike alittle or lot. This is a dog friendly trail. And the bird watching is great. Dress in layers, the temp changes from the bottom to the top. Bring water. There are bathrooms at the start of the trail but no sinks, no running water. However, if you forget water and the dogs get hot, drive to the road marked cave a few miles up, make a right to the cave (it s marked), at the five mile mark on the super bumpy and Un paved cave road there is a clean stream of cold, clear water and a picnic spot with more bathrooms( for those with small bladders). Please go to the cave too. It s a beautiful 1/2 mile hike with spectacular views.

Great hike but for us flatlanders the altitude took some getting used to. Amazing how one side of the mountains is desert and this side is all pine forest. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and only saw two other people on the trail. It was great to see the view of Albuquerque when we got to the top. We would highly recommend it and our dog liked it to.

Pretty easy hike. Very enjoyable and great view at the top. You are supposed to pay $3 for the hike per car. It look us about 1hr 50 to do the whole thing.

Hiked this 2 days ago during the sunset, and came back down during a full moon with snow still on the ground. Very magical. I only saw 3 people the entire hike, and they all had dogs! Make sure you are bundled up. An relatively easy hike with moderate slope, just a little cold!

Decided to hike this trail with my family on a cloudy morning. It's mostly a rocky trail but shady and a nice workout hiking up. Their are 2 other hiking trails that connect (Oso Trail & 10k), we decided on just Tree Springs. You'll find beautiful flowers, horn toads & a great city view at the top.

Tree Springs Trailhead sits about halfway up the road to Caesar Crest. It s tucked away on the left side of the road (heading up) and can be easily missed if not paying attention. The trail itself just like all others in the East Sandias: heavily forested and well maintained.I recommend going during mid-day hours as the shade will provide reasonable comfort even on the hottest days. Plus, cougars and bears are known to roam the area, so hiking at dawn and/or dust should be best avoided. As for the trail, I would describe it as moderate in difficulty. It s somewhat unique in that in there s no consistent incline. There are dips and hills throughout the hike, but nothing to give you the true sense that you re making your way up a mountain. Which makes it perfect for the casual hiker. Best enjoyed between the month of April and Octoberz

Beautiful trail with an amazing overlook at the top. It's just over 2 miles each way, pretty much all uphill going out but nice and easy coming back.

Great hike into beautiful trees. Bathrooms are clean and trails are clearly marked. Bring plenty of water, there is no water access.

My absolute favorite trail on the mountain! A great hike with a great view at the end. Always well maintained and the drive is beautiful on the way up. Win win all around.

Great trail. First section feels like old world forest. You start getting views about 1.5 miles in, and the views get better the higher you go. I couldn't figure out which way leads to the peak at crossroads with South Trail, it's not marked. Crossroads is about 2 miles in. Lots of trees, small clearings with flowers. Very pretty trail.

This is a beautiful trail any time of year! I have young kids and we usually dont make it too far because they like to play on the fallen logs and collect nature treasures as we walk. If you enjoy walking in a beautiful space surrounded by tall evergreens, then you'll love this trail. FYI - you are climbing UP the mountain, so if you're taking kids, plan to take plenty of breaks or resolve to turning around early to save you from hangry breakdowns.

Tree Springs Trail has a lot of beautiful and interesting things to offer the hiker or biker. The trail surface, through the process of erosion, has exposed numerous rocks of every size. Be careful and watch your step. There are toilets here and one picnic table.

This is my favorite hike to view the city of Albuquerque quickly from the east side of the mountain. There's not a lot of elevation gain because you're already at elevation. When you reach the end of the hike, you will stand on a huge cliff face. It's really worth your time to take this hike.

Nice spot, not too far from town. Still snowy and muddy but amazing skyline at dusk.

Stopped for a lovely hike in the snow. We walked eight minutes up the path and got surrounded by a pack of wild dogs. Got out of there dragging my wife and dog down the hill. 0/10 would not recommend

Awesome trail! Kind of rocky so wear hiking shoes.. About 2.3 miles to crest but I highly recommend! Just follow the well traveled trail to the right when you arrive..

I am recovering from a full hip replacement and this trail was PERFECT for my leg/hip. JUST enough resistance. The trail is beautiful the ONLY thing that bummed me out was you can HEAR the road/motorcycles/traffic coming up the mountain. I REALLY wanted QUIET along with my peace, but I guess you CAN'T have it all An amazing trail!

Great hiking not too far from Albuquerque. Know ahead of time to bring a few dollars cash for parking. There is a way to pay online but coverage is spotty.
