Took my 2007 Subaru Outback to Mike for diagnostics on my manual transmission. Mike did not charge me anything, diagnosed the problem, even fixed a bent metal plate on my brake that has been making intermittent noise for months and after I had taken it to my mechanic who couldn t pinpoint the problem. I only wish I had a vehicle to take to him that he works on! I highly recommend him.Service: Transmission

Spoke with Mike on the phone about my issue (of which I had prepared plenty of diagnostic information before-hand to aid in narrowing down the issue) and rather than waste my time and money, he pointed me towards what the issue may be and how to potentially fix it myself, since most stuff I do on my own anyway (and this turns out may be electrical in nature rather than a mechanical). I have yet to give his advice a go, but his attitude toward helping a customer through their problem, his willingness to share his knowledge, and enthusiastic honesty was unprecedented. The world needs more mechanics like Mike!

I was expecting a huge ordeal at the mechanic's shop, but it turned out to be quite pleasant. Mike s team diagnosed my transmission quickly and offered their expert advice for fixing what was wrong with in no time. They found that a lot of my wiring was chewed up by rats that nested in my car due to inactivity. His mechanics went above and beyond to solder and fix my wiring. He had stated that they normally don t do extensive wiring jobs so I was very grateful for their efforts. When all was done Mike was very good at communicating exactly what each damaged wire did and how it affected my transmission and even provided pictures. When the job was done, I expected a very large bill, but Mike quoted me a very reasonable price. Mike runs an honest shop and my experience with his team was outstanding.Services: Transmission, Electrical

Mike runs a very honest shop, I went in their expecting a huge ordeal...he ran his diagnostics and knew exactly what the problem was. Turned out to be a very simple fix. His diagnostic costs are below other companies I've used. He was very knowledgeable of all the issues with my model of Jeep and the possible future issues I might have running 37" tires. Very Honest, very well priced!Service: Transmission

Mike rebuilt the transmission on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 truck a few months ago. He did an excellent professional job. It was done in a very timely professional manner. He is extremely knowledgeable about transmissions for my specific truck. He even rebuilt the transmission better to reinforce it stronger than how it was built stock for my work truck needs. I appreciated how he wants to recheck how the transmission is functioning 2 weeks later and make sure nothing was missed. He keeps a very clean meticulous shop with everything in its place and easy access to work. His prices are very reasonable for the work entailed and the expertise he offers. He looked into another issue where my rear differential is leaking and I asked him what would be necessary to fix it. He did not try to offer me any services that were unnecessary or exaggerate anything. He only fixed what was immediate and necessary. An overall great experience and the best I've had so far dealing with someone in the mechanical trade. Thanks a lot.Service: Transmission

Was having trouble with my transmission took it to Mike he did his inspection and called me a couple hours later to tell me it wasn't my transmission it was my ignition switch not powering my transmission. I was really impressed by his honesty. In today's world the hardest thing to find is integrity he could of told me it was my transmission and charge me 2k or more . Instead it was an $80 part and $90 for my mechanic to install it. Very grateful, let's celebrate these rare unicorns . Thank you Mike, will be referring you to anyone that needs work on their transmission.

I never heard of an honest mechanic BUT Mike is one of them!Mike was very helpful and checked my truck for free. He s a down to earth guy who tells you like it is. He told me what the computer was reading and gave me some great feedback regarding the make and model of my truck and the best way to proceed. I am very thankful for his help.Definitely recommend his business to anyone looking for transmission work.

Mike's a good guy. Besides rebuilding my transmission, Mike has also helped me out on my old Jeep finding things that other mechanics did not. He has always been helpful even with questions outside the focus of work performed on my vehicle by him. I wish all mechanics had integrity like Mike. He's a trustworthy guy and knows his stuff.

My 2001 F150 with 300k (not a typo) miles on the original transmission lost overdrive and then third gear leaving me only 2 forward gears. Knowing full well that it was rebuild or replacement time, I started looking for shops. Mike's was recommended by several people so I made an appointment and dropped it off. He confirmed the condition with no charge for the additional diagnosis / road test.10 days later it was ready for pickup and he had a box full of all my burned up clutches, busted forward drum, and all the other 20 year old worn out stuff to show me. While showing me the pile of junk that came out of my 4R70W, he clearly explained what caused the failure(s) and provided a lot of information. He also replaced the flex plate for me, which I knew was bad, but forgot to mention to him and made recommendations for, and installed (with authorization), a few upgraded parts based on what I do with the truck.Mike never tried to sell me unnecessary items or services, was totally upfront, honest, and transparent about the entire process, and answered every single question I had. It's a shame I can only give 5 stars in this review because his shop definitely deserves more.Service: Transmission

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Mike's Transmissions. Originally I was told to expect a 14 day turn around, Mike had my truck done in 6! He treated me very well and made sure I knew exactly what to expect and how much it would cost. The level of service was well above anything I could have expected, and much, much cheaper than every other shop I contacted around town.Service: Transmission

Mike has repaired and or replaced 3 transmissions for me and my extended family in the last year. His wealth of knowledge is amazing with both transmissions and general automotive mechanics. I will continue to do business with him for a few simple and most important reasons: He is honest, professional and fair priced on his work. This is a transmission shop that other business's should model their services after. I will always recommend mikes transmissions to anyone. .

Mike was highly recommended by Sacco Automotive for a transmission repair. He was very responsive and replaced the transmission on the Ford Explorer in the exact timeline he stated. He also found issues with the brakes and replaced both front and back brakes for a very reasonable cost and still within the timeline. He didn't try to upsell anything, something that I really value. I totally recommend this business!

I made an appointment to take my car to Mike's Transmissions because my car was having a very intermittent transmission problem. I wanted a second opinion after a startling and disturbing diagnosis from the service department of the dealership where I bought the car. Mike checked and drove the car and couldn't duplicate the problem, but he helped me eliminate one component as the source of the issue and gave me some great insight about how transmissions work. Best of all, he didn't even charge me for the diagnostic work! The shop was clean and Mike was very friendly. I hope I don't need to, but I would definitely come back if more problems emerge in the future.

I had checked with several other shops and was very discouraged with the quotes they had given me to repair my Jeep Cherokee's clutch. Mike's quote was about half of what the others were asking and because of that I was able to repair and keep the Jeep. The repair work was done quickly and professionally and Mike had me bring the Jeep back to him a week later so he could make sure everything was right. This shows his concern for outstanding customer service. Needless to say Mike's Transmission is the only shop in Albuquerque I will be using or recommending for anything having to do with transmission work. Thank you very much.

I needed to have a transmission rebuilt in an older diesel truck. So after calling around to "many" shops and feeling quite discouraged with the quotes given, and thinking I would need to sell a kidney to pay for it all, I came across Mike's transmission doing a google search. I called him and was pleased with his personal customer service. He listened to my problem, did not try to oversell and came in much lower than his competitors. Once I brought him the vehicle, we took the truck for a test drive, so that he felt what I was experiencing, and gave immediate feedback. He made the repairs and had the vehicle back in 4 days, and the cost was a few hundred lower than the original quote. I drove the vehicle for 2 weeks and brought it back for a check up, he made a few adjustments and had it back in a few days. Mike takes pride in his work and has a genuine concern for the product he sells. That is rare in a fast paced world. Thanks Mike, you have earned a life long customer.

Mike is such an honest guy. I had my clutch burn out. He gave me an awesome clutch and at a much cheaper price than any other place and gave me my flywheel machined as part of the low price! I have not have problem since with my clutch three years later. I have since taken my car to him because of a code it was throwing and mike diagnosed it for free. Happened to be something not with the transmission and cost me $80 to fix. He is amazing and honest. you can trust that when you take your car here he is not trying to rip you off in any way!!!

Had my 92 foxbody at mikes for a transmission swap after i blew 3rd gear. Not only was his price was affordable and fair, he has pride in his work, has a great team of guys, and did everything he said he would. Even with some personal issues he needed to take care of he got my vehicle up and running and back to me sooner then expected which i cant thank him enough. Hardest part about building my car is finding a honest mechanic to get the job done, and thanks to mike that parts over! 100% RECOMMENDED

I found his shop by googling "honest transmission repair" and he sure as hell met my expectations. I have an 85 Suburban and was convinced my transmission was shot. He could've told me that I needed a rebuild and I would've believed him. $25 later and an hour of his time and I had my truck back running good as new. Obviously not every repair will be as simple, but he was very honest and did a great job. Thank you Mike!

So I gave Mike's a five star review two years ago. (see below) Since that time I have referred several people to this shop and have had my wife's car in as well. This month my 430,000 mile transmission had finally had enough and had to be rebuilt. First let me say that Mike had extended the life of my transmission by over 100,000 mile with the previous low cost repairs. Second let me say that Google reviews does not have enough stars. Mike came in on budget (actually a bit below budget) and that included upgraded components. If you have a Dodge Cummins diesel, this is your transmission guy. It's what he drives and he knows them end to end. Just continued great service so I had to provide this update. 12/16/15Wow! What a pleasant surprise. My very high mileage truck began to have difficulty shifting out of 1st gear. I assumed my borrowed time was up and I would have to get a rebuild. We brought the truck to Mike on Wednesday morning. Before lunch he had completed the free diagnostics and let me know that the problem could be fixed for about 20% of what a rebuild would have cost me. Even better, I picked the truck back up on Thursday afternoon! Really fast, very reasonable and clearly honest as he could have just hit me for the full rebuild. This is likely the best auto repair experience I have ever had.

My 2002 GMC Sierra 4x4 transmission failed after 170,000 mile. I took it to Mikes Transmission. He diagnosed a common failure of that GM model . I had him rebuild my transmission. He replace the failed part with a stronger aftermarket part (Sun Drum). He completed the work faster than expected. He showed me the failed parts and all the components he replaced. The truck runs great and feels strong. All this for a fair price and a 2 year guarantee. I picked Mike based on the 5 star reviews, It is nice to find an honest shop. Thanks Mike!

After reading all the 5 star reviews, I decided to bring my car to Mike's Transmission since I thought my car was having transmission issue. I received a call back from Mike, and he stated that after a test drive he determined the "internal transmission problem" and transmission must be replaced. He also stated that he won't test sensors , solenoids since there is no way to test those on Honda. Each part must be tested with the new part placed in the car. This is not true. Well, when I picked up the car from Mike's shop the next day, I checked wiring and connectors under the hood and found that a critter chewed on a ground wire attached to the body. I taped the wire with electric tape. Next morning I had an appointment with my auto mechanic to get a 2nd opinion about the state of transmission. When I was driving to the shop, I noticed the difference in driving, it was driving smoothly! My mechanic connected the complex test device to my car and tested everything in different modes: idle, he drove, I drove. The computer showed no issues at all, the car was driving smoothly. This device also tests for solenoids, sensors, etc. The only unrelated to transmission thing we discovered was leaking brake master cylinder that he'll replace next week. So, the lesson from this experience: make sure that it's not something else before bringing your car to Mike's Transmissions, thus you won't waste your $$$. In addition, I don't know what Mike did to the car, but it started to have very low fuel efficiency, and I also noticed that he used almost half a tank at 56 miles. Moreover, when I came to pick up the car in the morning, the car was not locked while parked on a public non-fenced parking lot at the shop.

Mike is such an honest business man. Gives professional service at a fair price. You really get your money s worth. I took my 1972 Chevy C10 for them to check it over and service the transmission. He checked the lock up and explained how to best drive it around town and on the highway. He is very knowledgeable. Ed PaquesService: TransmissionService: Transmission

Mike took my son's truck in and went through the transmission which was blown completely. He then call me and told me what was wrong with the transmission and what his recommendation was for the repair. Mike did the upgraded transmission repair for the cost of a regular rebuild from other transmission shops. Mike also spend time explaining what went wrong with the old transmission and how to drive the rebuilt transmission to make it last to my son. Mike is a true craftsman who I'll trust with all of my vehicles.

I can't sing mikes praises enough. I was sure my transmission was shot. I do basketball courts all over the state. I put MILES on my van no joke. I took in my van and later that day mike called me and said sorry dude not your transmission. You have a voltage problem. I was ready to have to replace the whole thing. Mike recommend a shop that could help with the problem at hand. The recommendation was a solid gold. $150 bucks later in back on the road. Mike is a rare breed. As a consumer I'm always ready to be bent over the wood pile when my vehicles break down and the experience I recived at Mikes restored my faith in humanity. I will never take my transmissions Matinance and care anywhere else. Do not hesitate. Take it to Mike!!!!!!

Mikes transmission is an absolute gem. We are new to ABQ and my little car was making unhappy noises, so we took her to Mike, who diagnosed that the transmission was starting to have issues, but assured us until the noise became pronounced we could safely drive her. He kept her overnight for this diagnosis and didn't charge us a dime for his time!Six months later, with the whine more pronounced, it was time to take her back. Mike ordered the rebuilt transmission and also checked my clutch, it had 129,000 miles on it, and recommended replacing both parts, which we agreed to. He went above and beyond by making some bushings in his shop, which had been damaged by battery acid, saving us $500+I cannot say enough about how much we think of this super guy and his honest business practices. Axle the company mascot is super sweet too...you just have to go meet him!

Mike saved me from getting ripped off at Aamco. I called Mike's after I got a quote from Aamco to rebuild my transmission. He answered all my questions about transmission repair and the costs even though I had no plans to take my car to his shop. When I thought Aamco might be taking advantage of me, I showed up at his shop for a second opinion. I was prepared to put a new transmission in my car. Mike pulled the diagnostic codes (which were the same codes that showed up at Aamco) and informed me it might just be a bad switch. He replaced the switch. Total cost parts and labor, $159. His honesty literally saved me thousands of dollars. I am so happy I brought my car to Mike's.

One of the few honest mechanics I've been able to find. I've taken multiple vehicles to him over the years from general routine transmission flushes to diagnosing and fixing issues. He has never once tried to recommend work the car didn't need and if he can't fix it (newer CVT transmissions require specialized calibration and equipment sometimes) he'll tell you. I take all transmission related maintenance to him.
