I was staying here for business along with my wife and mother-in-law. This is my second stay at this location. I was happy to have 2 bedroom s 2 bathrooms with a living room and kitchen. I was not too happy when I saw that the oven grates were dirty, microwave surface light was out, we had no body wash in our shower, and the room had a musty smell. I was able to get rid of the musty smell by running the air conditioner for 2 days. The microwave light was promptly replaced, and we bought our own soap. The hotel is located off of Hwy 17 and in a nice area with shops, grocery stores, and restaurants 1.5 miles away. Breakfast is typical continental along with a waffle maker. Each building has washers and driers. Mkst importantly, neighboring tenants were quiet. I'll stay here again.

The room was infested with ants and we never got hot water the entire stay. They had to give us the keys to another roomDaily to take showers. The first room they sent us to didn t have hot water either. They kept promising to spray for the ants but never did. There were hundreds of ants in our food in the morning. The front desk was nonchalant and acted as if our issues were normal. When I went to the front desk to complain another guests was complaining about other issues. He was Caucasian and received an apology. We are African American and received no apology even after I stated that we didn t received any type of apology. Shocked that a Marriot property was like this. We will never return!

I normally do not post unless I have something nice to say but I felt it was nessesary. I found it very hard to believe this is a Marriott. I m a travel agent and my first brand I suggest to my clients is a Marriott. I feel this one is so under par. Staff at desk was so so. No acknowledgement of Marriott Status. Lobby and halls were dark and very outdated. The furniture in the room looked like there was a garage sale for hotels and they bought it all. The bed was like sleeping on the ground during a camping trip when your air mattress sprung a leak. Hard isn t the word I m searching for. I know this is a dog friendly property which is great ( I have a dog and I appreciate properties that allow pets) but usually they are restricted to first floor . Not here every room was used dog or not. I know Residence Inns cater to longer term guests and business people. But this appeared to have families long term living there. I was also surprised that we reserved for 6 nights and they only clean the room 1 day! It s not a timeshare it s a hotel? I ll end this long winded post with personally and professionally I do not suggest this hotel.

I booked a room here for my family to use for 5 days. During those 5 days my family had no hot water and had to come to our house to shower. My family called the front desk everyday and they kept saying it was fixed when it wasn't. The only solution they gave them was to switch rooms the day they were leaving. Since January I have been on and off the phone with Marriott trying to get this resolved while the hotel says they fix the hot water. The hot water was never fixed. Through Marriott the general manager was supposed to reach out to me never happened. I've called the hotel multiple times to speak to the general manager have never received a call back. I personally stayed here multiple times over the years and never had a problem. The fact that now I have a problem and I'm trying to get my points back because the stay was horrendous is ridiculous. It is unsanitary and unsafe not to have hot water. I have always used Marriott when I travel and this has me seriously thinking about never using them again.Update: after speaking to the general manager she said that because they offered to move them the day they were leaving that there was nothing she could do. She did acknowledge that they didn't have hot water. But there is still nothing she can do because they offered to move rooms on the day of checkout.Safety: It is unsanitary and unsafe to not have hot running water.Noteworthy details: Maintenance does not fix the problem they report that it is fixed with out the problem being taken care of.

Was nervous to book after reading the negative reviews. However our experience staying here was great. The rooms were clean, including the public spaces and outdoor areas. The daily breakfast was excellent with many choices, both healthy and unhealthy. The staff was super friendly and professional. Loved all the outdoor areas you could walk around and enjoy during the good weather. Great location near the city. There were many restaurants and an Aldi within a five minute drive. Very safe area. Will definitely stay here again.Rooms: We rented the two bedroom two bath suite it had everything we need to be comfortable during our 10 day stay. Bed was very comfortable room was clean and very quiet.Nearby activities: They have a nice list of close by restaurants and shopping. Aldi was 5 minutes away.Safety: Very safe area.Food & drinks: Breakfast bar was well-maintained with many choices, both healthy and not so healthy. Staff was super friendly..

Met a very rude employee with an aggressive tone at the lobby when I enquired how to enter the gym as my key card wasn t working. I was taken aback by how aggressive she was. Worst hotel customer service I ve ever experienced. I later saw her berating other staff members in the breakfast area. There was also a serious security issue with the entry door to the portion of the hotel we were staying in. This needs to be addressed ASAP as it s currently unsafe for hotel residents as anyone can enter the building without a key card!

Here for 2 weeks with work, hope to never have to come back to this hotel. Unfriendly staff, lobby is closed after breakfast is over simply because the staff decides to install a curtain to close it to the the hotel guests. Coffee is done being available to guests at 9:30am. Overall whomever runs this hotel has no place in the hospitality business. The Marriott name should not be on this hotel.

Very disappointed! My family and I have been staying at this Residence Inn for years, our most recent visit was a few weeks ago for a reunion. The hotels aesthetic is great, multiple buildings surrounded by trees. However, my interactions with the general manager was extremely disappointing. During a query I had about maintenance, I found the manager s responses to be rather condescending and not reflective of any professional hospitality standards. For instance, when I expressed my concerns about some mold in the fitness center the response I received was dismissive and lacked the courtesy I expected from Highgate management associate. Unfortunately it was revealed by staff this is very common behavior by management, and reflects her general disposition with guests and staff.

---"My stay at the Marriott Residence was disappointing due to serious security issues. Despite repeated promises to fix it, there was a complete lack of security between the buildings. This resulted in anyone being able to enter without a key, a major safety concern.During a heavy rainstorm, several cars were broken into in the driveway without any apology or acknowledgment of the security lapse. The doors within the building were also unsecured, adding to the risk.I cannot recommend this establishment due to these security flaws, which were not addressed properly. Safety should be a priority, and the lack of concern for guests' security was disheartening

Room 1308 was dirty, not vacuumed, carpets worn out and filthy, bathrooms not clean, stove dirty and spiders in the bathrooms and ants crawling across the bed. Not to mention the king bedroom had no door to the main living area. When we canceled the rest of our stay the night manager could not understand why and wanted to argue. We are fighting to get a refund for days we canceled. Don't stay here! It is in desperate need of a renovation. Over all it is a smelly, disgusting hotel, save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.Rooms: Dirty and unkept, missing doors and spiders and ants in the bathrooms and beds. King bedroom missing door to maim area. Yes no privacy!!

Been staying here multiple days out of the year for the past 5yrs for work, this time booked room using same credit card as always and got declined due to not having my wife s ID after driving 2.5hrs out of my way, but booked everything online with no notice of a policy change. So I got charged for a night I can t stay. Rich at the front desk was supposed to call back following day to see if he can help with refund didn t follow through with it. Never coming back and will recommend my work place not to book here

The people working are so nice that I hate to leave a bad review but this is our 3rd time staying here in the past 2 years and things have deteriorated quickly. We will not be staying again. The rooms needs major renovation and they have a bug problem. Someone is going around febreezing the carpets, I really hope they re getting them deep cleaned periodically but based on the faint smell of urine that never went away I m guessing they re not. Breakfast is good enough and the cleaning crew does a good job. It is the only place that has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths in the area so for a family of 5 it works well and affordable for long term stays. They have a whole new process for using the gym and swimming pool that it s annoying.

It's a great place to stay, with a kitchen, 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite, great for 2 couples or a family...they probably need to check the large appliances, oyr stove didn't work.. I made pies...fortunately we were able to send them home with our daughter to bake at her place...other than that, we had no issues, breakfast buffet was very good, very attentive staff, good food and coffee...

The staff here is very friendly. The area is nice and conveniently located. My issue is with Marriott itself and the fact that they do not honor their prices. I called ahead of time to see if the military discount could be honored with just showing ID but when I arrived they said it could not be honored and I had to have orders to be there. So I was charged more than I agreed to. Very disappointed.

Incredibly disreputable management. Called to cancel a room due to illness and reschedule for following month. Spoke to a gentleman that said that would be "no problem". Found the room charge on my credit card statement. Called the hotel and spoke to the Manager. She said sorry, there's nothing we can do. Ready to start a project in the area, have directed the team to use another hotel.

My recent stay at this hotel was underwhelming, primarily due to the frustrating hours of the swimming pool and barbecue area. The pool closed at an unreasonably early time of 5 pm, leaving little opportunity to relax after a busy day. Similarly, the barbecue area closed at 9 pm, limiting our ability to enjoy evening gatherings. The hotel was borderline acceptable and these restrictive hours greatly impacted our experience. I hope the management considers adjusting the timings to better accommodate guests needs and enhance their stay.

Was not overly impressed with property. Staff was very nice, very friendly, welcoming!! Room was on the older side-in desperate need of a make over /face lift, small ants on the wall by table, shower head falling off the wall, coffee and breakfast were on the colder side. Grounds could use some TLC. We are VERY big Marriott travelers-only staying in Marriott properties. We were disappointed.

I needed to cancel a 1 night reservation that I had made on behalf of my colleague visiting from Japan. His plans were not solidified and he told me 12 hours after the official cancellation window closed that the price was too high for his corporate nightly allowance, and he was forced to find somewhere cheaper. When I called and explained the situation to the hotel, they were courteous BUT DIDNT HELP ME AT ALL! So I'm stuck footing the 205$ cancellation charge (the full cost of the night) out of my personal pocket for literally nothing. I can understand why a hotel has a policy like this, but their inflexibility given the circumstances means that I, as a traveling salesman will be avoiding Marriott. Thanks for nothing, I hope your corporate bonuses are sufficiently fat.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. I come into town often on business and I will now stay here when I do. The room was clean and my bathroom was very well lit - which is very important to me. The staff was friendly and they offered hot breakfast items which was appreciated. It was nice to have a sitting area separate from the bedroom so I didn't feel like I was in a hotel. The mini kitchen was a nice amenity and included a full size fridge, microwave, sink, dishes and silverware. It was quiet at night which was good. The mattress wasn't the best; it was okay. They don't have room service but I was easily able to get food through Uber Eats which was nice.

The residence Inn in saddle, River, New Jersey, is run down and disgusting. The breakfast food buffet is the lowest quality food a place could serve. The manager hides from talking and helping you with hotel issues. This hotel is the direst hotel I have ever stayed in. House cleaning crew doesn t care about spreading germs from room to room using the same dirty mop in all rooms without using water, they just sprays the kitchen floors with a sticky spray and uses the same rag to wipe down the furniture. I saw them in action and called them out on it!!! I will never step foot in that germ infested hotel ever again!! Please look at other hotels.

Do not recommend staying here. Booked a room expecting access to the hot tub, the listing in Marriott's app never mentioned it was an outdoor pool and hot tub and was already closed for the year. Was put in building 2 and all 4 room doors by me were coming off the hinges so you could hear every person coming in and out of their rooms. The room itself wasn't in bad shape, but clearly wasn't upgraded any time recently. The dishwasher leaked water when it was running, the floor towel had a stain on it at check-in (I used a different towel for the floor instead), the air conditioner was in the bedroom and was noisy so it woke me up every time the compressor turned on, and the AC completely died the morning I was checking out. There are other Marriott hotels nearby; I would recommend literally anywhere but here. I would have had a better night's sleep in the back seat of my truck. If anything, the benefits of having a suite here did not offset the price and I should have stayed at one of the cheaper options nearby.

This is an absolutely terrible facility. The Marriot corporation is usually synonymous with excellent quality and well managed properties (think Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, even Courtyards by Marriott) BUT The Residence Inn by Marriott in Saddle River is an embarrassment to Marriott's good name. Dirty and stained carpets in the halls, dirty and stained furniture in the room in which I stayed, a toilet seat that was off it's hinges! (I guess that the toilet had not been cleaned before we checked in otherwise this would have been noticed by the housekeeper). Wallpaper peeling. And even the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the halls of a "non-smoking" building. To add insult to injury, when we received the invoice for the room by email, it had a $100. "pet fee" post on the bill and of course we did not have a pet. The front desk clerk said that they had to speak to the manager to have the charge removed! I suggest staying far away from this place! In reply to the owners response:I can absolutely assure you that I not only did stay at your facility, I did bring my concerns, especially regarding the toilet seat to the desk clerk upon returning my room key in the morning. They promptly jotted down a note on a piece of paper and said that the issue would be resolved. My criticism is not with the staff, they were all very nice and professional, but of the facility itself. One thing that I had not mentioned previously is that when I checked in early Sunday morning (8/21/22) I had provided a credit card as requested for two separate rooms. I explained to the clerk that my credit card would be substituted within the hour for another one once my associate arrived. I was assured that my first credit card would not be charged, only have a "hold" placed on it which would drop off within two days. When my associate arrived an hour later with a substitute credit card , that card was then put into your system and billed for final payment of the two rooms (plus the inaccurate "pet charge") It is now 7 full days later and there is still two "holds" on my first credit card (one for each room) in the amount of $441.51 and $441.65. respectively. Please note that not only are these pending charges overdue for deletion but they far exceed the actual cost of the rooms. I would appreciate an explanation as to why these holds continue to be on my Citibank account and as to why the amounts exceed the actual costs.

This hotel was lacking in every way. Our room was fairly clean but the shower liner was covered in mildew. There was a strange odor in the hallway of our building and the public trash cans were overflowing with trash. The pool could only be used by reserving a time (this one baffles me). The rate stated that breakfast was included. What was not stated was that breakfast (on a Sunday morning, no less) was only offered between 6:30 and 7:30 and it was a grab and go bag of a muffin, yogurt, orange and water - no options, no hot coffee. We were told that coffee was in our room. The coffee service in the room was not cleaned and did not offer paper cups. In addition, if you are an early-riser trying not to wake your family, in-room coffee is not a possibility. No dish soap was provided - only dishwasher detergent - so it isn t even possible to hand-wash a mug.It s not the worst place that I have stayed in my travels but the service was definitely lacking and the amenities are not as advertised. While the pandemic has put a strain on businesses, it cannot be an excuse for failing to provide accurate information. I expect more from a $200 per night hotel with the Marriott name.
