Not surprised at the poor reviews for this place. Car got 2 flats, the only thing they did right was get the tow truck to me promptly. Took 2 days to put new tires on, they were the WRONG tires. Took another 2 days to order the correct ones, I come to have it done, they tell me it will be done in 30 minutes. 60 minutes later, my car is untouched. Never coming here again, honestly I'll probably get rid of my AAA card after this.

My rating is for auto repair portion of this location, they also have a travel section which is in the same space but provide travel services.Make your reservation online, receive an email confirmation with time selected for your appointment, show up and check your vehicle in.I've always found staff helpful and often provide great detail of the repairs. Are the the best auto repair service out there? I don't know but I've never had a problem, the office/space is very comfortable and as mentioned staff is helpful.The software they use for processing your auto repair I find helpful. You can approve a price quote via a page/link they send you.They also send you photos of some of the work, at times there may be highlighted areas, with red circles on the photographs of your repair to point out details.They close at 5pm Saturday and I was stuck in traffic getting to AAA North Plainfield and our repair person, who had worked for the Ford Motor Company previously, was happy to stay past closing to wait for me to show up 10 minutes late.I recommend leaving your car though I have waited for a tire alignment one time. The office is very comfortable, clean with a Kurig machine and nice seating area.I have my tires rotated regularly at Costco at the other end of the parking lot and then use AAA North Plainfield for my alignments. You can buy an package of 'unlimited' alignments for a longer period of time, I forget how long it was but found it to be a good deal and convenient for me.Since I have had such a good experience I have started to have other services done here.

Had to have our car towed on a Sunday. Brought it to this AAA shop for a new serpentine belt and oil change. They sold us a new Axel, and then let us drive off the lot Zero coolant in the engine and overinflated tires. Car immediately overheated, and we had to stop for a gallon of coolant at a convenience store. Not worth the time or money.

Lack Knowledge and Customer Service skills!!I purchased 4 tires for my vehicle and had them shipped to the AAA Store in North Plainfield AFTER speaking to a gentleman by the name of Scott. Prior to finalizing my tire order I asked Scott if they were equipped to mount tires on a Model 3 Tesla, he confirmed he had done many Teslas and so we set my appointment for 2 days later. I called again later that day to ask if they used a torque wrench and spoke to Scott one more time. The morning of my appointment I called a 3rd time, spoke to Scott again to confirm they received my tires and could in fact install them. Scott walked to the back verified the tires were there and confirmed my appointment.When I arrived I was greeted by Brian, I gave him my name, said I was there for an appointment, he asked if my tires were received, I shared that I had received an email confirmation from TireRack and had spoken to Scott to confirm. Brian now goes to the back and returns 2 minutes later and says you ordered the wrong tires . It was a statement, not a question. I explained the tires were correct and the same specifications of a manufacturers for that make and model. He walks to the parking lot to see the tires on my car, returns and says You got the right ones but we don t install those . I explained I had spoken to Scott on three different occasions and confirmed all of this prior. Brian says the 40 profile is too low, we don t do it. Sorry. This is a TIRE shop, they sell and install tires. That s their niche, that s their business. Clearly Scott lacks proper training about tires and the cars they can or cannot service and Brian lacks basic customer service etiquette to address an error made by a peer, colleague.I received great service from Mavis on Mt Bethel Road in Warren for LESS than what AAA was going to charge.AAA Leadership - do better!

My wife and I came here for information about a France trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I browsed around the store and found the hugh change of AAA services. AAA has evolved to a face I could not recognize. To attract customers, they have even expanded to car maintenance service... This location is quite big and well facilitated. It surely gives a comfortable service environment....

I ve been coming to this location for a couple year and I ve never had such a horrible experience as I did this time around. First was the communication, usually there s a ton and that s why I love coming here. This time around there was none. I brought in my car because two lights were on, they called me to tell me those two problems were fixed and then sent me an email an hour later that had many more things wrong with my car and was never addressed with me over the phone. Things I would ve asked them to fix in the initial phone call. One thing was my tires were apparently near bald. My dad called in and was told they were be good for another 2-3 months. I called the next morning and was told they were barely within legal limit and were dangerous. So which is it? Second I asked them to leave my keys in the car which they always do and they locked my keys in the car. Or never put them in there I m not sure . I drove over an hour to get there after work and couldn t even take my car home. It would ve been an additional 3 hours of waiting for a aaa roadside person to come unlock my car and I didn t even know if my keys were in there or not.

Although earnest assurances are nice to hear, they are NOT promises. The problem with this team is that they neglect to bear in mind customer deadlines. I should have been encouraged to take my car to another AAA service center where the other Service Manager could assure my service would have been guaranteed to be finished. Instead, I lost a day due to believing that this location's Service Manager could "fit me in."Honest scheduling estimations, firm appointments, and candid updates are much more useful and appreciated when a road trip has been previously scheduled. IF you choose this shop for your service, be certain to be clear--and insist on firm assurances AFTER a set appointment--before dropping off your car and/or confirming a n appointment that requires the use of your car.

I had a terrible experience at this car repair shop. Not only did they charge me double the expected amount for the repairs, but they also tried to add on extra charges. The staff was unhelpful and seemed more interested in taking advantage of customers than providing quality service. I would strongly advise against bringing your car here for any repairs.

So far we have brought 1 car in for service. Happy with how that worked out thus far. Just put our 2nd car in and waiting to hear on that one. So why only 3 stars? Their hours. You can in no way close at 6 pm when people work. Not saying every part of this store has to be open but someone needs to be there until at least 7pm to collect and pay for their fixed car. So unfortunately we would love to use them again, due to their hours we just cannot. Back to Pep Boys we go, they stay open till 8pm for you to get your vehicle.

My parents had the pleasure of working with Michael . He broke every thing down for them and even emailed them additional information and broke down cost and more . He talked to them on the phone multiple times updating them on the car and also letting them know when it was done . Was very helpful ! Thank you again aaa car care ! You have are buisness!

As a premier member, I enjoy coming here for travel assistance and passport photos. I have yet to use them for any insurance, but I may get a quote after my next car premium is up. The people here are pleasant and always helpful.

I scheduled an oil change and tire rotation for 2:00 p.m. Scott, the store manager, tried to sell me services that my car didn't require at first. After I declined the proposed service, his tone changed and he became quite rude and disrespectful, making me feel uncomfortable. Following that, he claimed that an oil change and tire rotation would take at least 1 hour and 45 minutes, and that the proposed price was far greater than what the coupons stated. I only had an hour off from work to complete this task, so I had to leave without completing anything at this AAA facility, and I cancelled my AAA membership immediately following this poor customer service experience.

I went to the shop for oil change. After that, the vehicle is not really drivable. The steering wheel shakes and vibrates on the road and when the engine is started. The engine made weird sound. I cannot trust the technicians over there so I went to a car dealer for diagnosing. It turned out a tire belt shift and the tire was damaged. Our car was good before oil change. Something must have happened during oil change. I suspect it happened after I rejected the suggestion to replace the brake.This is the most terrible experience I have ever had in car service received.I sent email to their car care president but there is no response.

The young at the service counter was friendly and polite. Explain the steps I felt like the price was a little high, but the service done, customer satisfaction.My car was just sitting for a day without a follow up call that it was ready

The entire crew at the Car Care Center, from their manager , Technicians to Receptionist staff are all SO Awesome!When i arrived for my appointment, the manager was dealing with some ding-dong customer who brought in a battery for some kind of warranty claim', the customer was getting upset that it didn't work that way, and the manager, really nice guy, kept calm and keep on explaining the same thing over and over in different ways, so that eventually the customer understood and walked out, but he wasn't as upset when he left. The Manager even gave the customer his card and said to call him on his cell if he had any issues following his directions in order to take care of his dead battery.Not my direct experience, but what I saw was fantastic customer service, and the most perfect way to deal with an upset customer. This Manager was a professional.I took my car in for an alignment, and they were on time and did a great job. Super quick, and super helpful!I'm not a AAA member but they treated me, and everyone else like a star customer.I HIGHLY recommend this place!!!

Terrible car repair service center. Took my car to get fixed after it overheated kept my car for an entire day told me they fix the problem while also trying to sell me other services I did not need for my car. Not even one month later the same problem came back. Took my car to a different mechanic and was able to find the problem and fixed the right problem in less than three hours. When I told them what AAA had done to my car as well as show him the invoice he questioned if they did anything to fix my car and why they didn t do something as simple as check the thermostat or fan. AAA charged my over $1,000 only for the same problem to return not even 1 month later but yet a different mechanic had the common sense to ACTUALLY check the car and find the problem. I told both these mechanics the same issue and yet the one that charged me the least actually solved the problem. Do not go here even if you are a AAA member. These mechanics don t care and just wanna steal your money. A true scam.

Admittedly, going to get your car serviced is never a fun experience. But this location hands down make it the least painful in my opinion. I went there for a second opinion on a work order that I got from a different shop. The nice folks at AAA made it clear that most of the items on that list were required and some may even have been a mis diagnosis by the other shop. Needless to say, I am going back here again. Very professional and clean establishment.

I had a Horrible experience at AAA North Plainfield. Some of the workers are inexperienced and lack basic knowledge. I ended up wasting so much time. I called AAA mobile service and they saved the day. AVOID this location.

I've been trying to get the battery in my Durango changed for almost 2 weeks. After the third jumpstart, I was told I had to go to the service center to get the battery replaced since it's in a tough location. I have a free replacement, so I made an appointment for the same day. Checked in early since I needed to keep the truck running or get it jumped again, then let the staff know I would be back to pick it up. The appointment was supposed to be an hour due to the placement. I was told no charge, even though they knew about the placement. Left to take care of things and waiting for the call, but no call came through. I went back to pick up my truck and was told that the phone number was wrong and they didn't do any work without me authorizing $60 for the service due to the placement of the battery. I got blamed for the problem since I didn't come back when the appointment was scheduled to start. Now I'm stuck trying to find another way to get my battery replaced, since I got to the center and was told even if I paid the $60 at that point they couldn't do the switch because it was 15 mins to closing.

I've been a customer of a few different mechanic shops as of recently. Unfortunately, I haven't had the best results.I almost NEVER trust national brands, as most of them charge unreasonable prices. I would never eat at a subway or a mcdonalds' (just as an example).Some of my poor auto experiences in the recent past have been extreme delays waiting around for a mechanic, as well as some other shops overcharging. Rental car bills can add up to beyond the price of the repair itself.It seems like 90% of dealers and mechanics are rip off artists. You trust them with your cars and sometimes they give it back to you in worse condition than you gave it to them in, and sometimes you never get the car back at all.After being turned away from several shops for repairing the alignment on my supercharged land rover, these guys tackled the issue very quickly and very efficiently, for $105. The dealer wanted $400 and change. The local guys said it "was too much of a hassle" or "check in with me next Thursday."I would have to say this repair experience has been the absolute best experience I've had in the entire auto industry. Including an uncle and a brother in the car business (don't deal with them they are scams too).After a thorough analysis of the business model, I feel that AAA is one of the best in class businesses; since they don't rely on income from ripping people off who are driving in with broken down cars. They don't rely on selling you a car for double the value of the car itself.These guys rely on a subscription service, that operates as insurance, and this unique offering enables them to offer auto repair services to the public at a discounted rate.

These folks in this bldg are professionals period. They DO NOT fix things that aren't broke. Its hard to find straight shooters with car mechanics. These guys are SUPER honest and do great work. I have been there 3x and always fully satisfied.

My experience for my car needs was done professionally from the time I arrived the staff was exceptional everyone I had contact with was very welcoming and understood my needs. The convenience of maps etc. and items to purchase were displayed conveniently for viewing. The friendly atmosphere and comfort and cleanliness of the waiting area made the whole experience for me a very positive one. I would recommend this place for any auto needs. And thank you everyone at AAA !

Went in for an oil change and they also checked my entire car overall. They gave me a breakdown and prices for all services required or recommended to fix. I returned back to get my tires done as well. Great job quick and friendly.Service: TiresService: Tires

Really like this AAA location. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Have gotten help planning and booking both road trips and larger trips. Triptiks now have a feature that can also be downloaded. They did a great job on my and my sons passport photos which are free with premier level. Have also picked up travel merchandise including rfid security items and they have a tire/ repair center. I have had nothing but positive experiences and therefore highly recommend them.

I went for 4 tire alignment and they aligned just the front tires, they said the back tires were not aligned because they don't have the tools for toyota.So I paid full price ($89.99) for a service not performed.I request a return and they refused it.So I disputed the charge with american express and if they still refuse it I will resolve it in court.This AAA IS A SCAM.Never going to this scam place again.Probably after this post, someone from this company will apologize for it but they will not offer any solution, because all this AAA company is a scam!!!!!!Service: Tires

Car service portion of AAA North Plainfield doesn't even deserve 1 star. I brought my car for my 10am oil change appointment last week. At 10am when the store opened, no one was there yet. There was a line of people waiting to get in. My car was not looked at until almost 1pm. Remember, I had a 10am appointment. They called to tell me that in addition to the oil change I needed front and back brakes and rotors. When I declined the almost $1200 service, the service rep proceeded to attempt to bully me and scare me into getting the service done. I was basically told that my car wouldn't stop while driving out of their garage. After a 15 minute attempt to take advantage of me, I still declined the service. Fast forward a week and I bring my car elsewhere for new brakes. The mechanic brought me the brake pads to show me that yes they were worn, but in no way were any of my brakes dangerous. This was AAA attempt to bully a female because they thought I didn't know any better. Never again will my car be brought to your service facility... never again will you have the chance to try to bully me into spending money on unnecessary service.
