After my car broke down on the NJ turnpike I was set up with John s Main Auto Body to come tow me. The tow guy who came and got me was very kind and helpful. The women at the front desk were also lovely in helping me get where I needed to go which was still 2 hours away. They ended up keeping my car on a Friday night, did an excellent and speedy job with the repairs despite it being the weekend and needing to wait to get parts, and I got it back Monday afternoon. They were very communicative and helpful!!

I own a car business and a body shop . Most of the people working in this establishment are rude and uninformed. This is a tow truck facility. They are the contract tow company for a stretch of the Turnpike.Take your car out ASAP to a reputable repair shop !! They should change the name to one star auto body to match the reviews. Sign makes reference to the fact that they have been in business since 1978. Times have changed. Control and direct your employees.Customer service matters

Read the reviews!!!Everything they wrote here is accurate. If we could give negative stars we will. This company, their services and the people working there including the managers and the girls at the office are all the worst people you ll ever come across. They will take advantage of you, steal your money, manipulate you, use your towed vehicle as hostage to stick your energies and money. Please, do yourself a favor, stay away from these horrible people and the service they offer. It ll take you a few more minutes to find a different tow company but it ll save you hours of frustration, lies, manipulations and stealing much more money then you thought about paying. If you do decide to use this company, you ll be back here soon writing a one star review as well :( I wish you ll be smart and stay away from them and make sure you let everyone you know to stay away from them.

They are some thieves. Charge tech fee + fuel fee + processing fee + towing. They and the Secaucus police are a mafia.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of having my SUV break down on the NJ Turnpike, and I had to rely on John's Main Auto Body for towing services. Let me start by saying that this was not a pleasant experience at all.First and foremost, the cost of towing my SUV from the Turnpike was a minimum of $160, which is quite steep considering the circumstances. What made matters worse was the fact that they didn't allow me to choose a location for towing. They claimed it was a contract and insisted on towing me to their own facility. This was frustrating because if your car breaks down on the Turnpike, it's likely that you need immediate repairs. Opting to tow it to your preferred mechanic would mean paying for towing twice, which is completely unfair. If you decide to leave your car at John's Main Auto Body facility, be aware that there are additional storage fees involved. It feels like they're trying to squeeze every last penny out of you. Furthermore, before they even start any mechanical work, they insist on running a diagnostic, which costs a hefty $145 per hour. This just adds insult to injury.Aside from all the financial inconveniences, the staff at John's Main Auto Body were incredibly rude and unprofessional. It was evident that they had no training on how to speak to customers, whether in person or over the phone. The receptionist I spoke to was rude, interrupting, and spoke over me. In fact, she had the audacity to hang up on me when she realized I wasn't accepting her half-hearted answers. Such behavior is completely unacceptable.I couldn't help but question why the NJ Turnpike would have a contract with such a place. It seems that many people have had similar experiences, as I discovered when I read the reviews. It's mind-boggling that they continue to send business to this establishment despite the numerous complaints. In fact, I was so disappointed with their service that I went as far as contacting a supervisor sergeant at the NJ Turnpike Newark (exit 16E) to file a complaint about John's Main Auto Body.In the end, I had to rely on my trusted towing and repair provider, who has received rave reviews, to tow my car back to my hometown. Unfortunately, even he encountered communication issues with the receptionists at John's Main Auto Body. They actually screamed at him in person and I was on his speaker on the phone, and I could hear the entire unpleasant exchange. It's disheartening to see such a disgusting organization operating in this manner. To sum it up, I strongly advise against using John's Main Auto Body for towing services. The high cost, lack of flexibility in choosing a location, additional fees, unprofessional staff, and overall unpleasant experience make this company one to avoid. Explore other options and save yourself the frustration and disappointment that comes with dealing with this establishment.

This was the worst customer service experience I ve ever had in my life. Was there for hours after I paid almost 450 dollars and they even lost a ladies key to her car who was next to me. Who had also been there for hours

I wonder why this company has rated only 1.3 stars. I wish I can rate -. The owner needs to rehire the auto body shop manager immediately.

If I could give negative stars I would. Not only is Maya a liar, this place is a disgrace and if they don t refund my money, I m disputing the charge.I presented Maya with my AAA card after being towed from NJ Turnpike and she said the charge was $148.00. I asked why I had to pay and she said I could get a refund from AAA by filling out the form and submitting with the receipt. On the plexiglass it states TO NJ TURNPIKE PATRONSWE CAN USE YOUR AAA CARD FOR BILLING OFYOUR TOW IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR CARD YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR BILL FOR REIMBURSEMENT I said why did I have to pay after seeing that and they said they didn t have the capability to do a chargeback. The next day I spoke to a supervisor named Jess who I was told to talk to and she had said to call Maya after 4:00 and have her do it. When I called at 4:45, Maya put me on hold and came back a while later said she just spoke to her supervisor Karen and said she couldn t do it. When asked to speak to Karen I was told she wasn t in and had no way to talk to her until she comes in any time between 4am and 12pm today. I called at 11:30 and was told by Liz that Karen doesn t work there and hasn t for quite some time, but that she would research and call me back. That too never happened and I kept on chasing to find out she had spoken to a supervisor named Scott who also wasn t there and they would forward my information for him to call back. After speaking to Lourdes, the only helpful employee, she informed me that as a result of what Maya had been doing to me she has been suspended and that she was still trying to reach Scott.I have yet to receive a call and if Harry, the owner, doesn t get back to me I will dispute the charge, win the dispute for unsatisfactory services and false information provided and then John s will be out of money from me and receive nothing from AAA.

If I could give this place -5 stars I would. The customer service was unbelievably horrible. Like if y all can t read just say that. They are slow, DISRESPECTFUL, inconsiderate and lazy. The manager, whenever they decide to do their jobs, is incompetent and does not know how to run a business. Never going there again!!! You might as well tow your own car because you would 100% do a better job than them. If you could use ANY other towing company, do so

Worse customer service!Front desk was very rude. My car was towed on Friday morning. There was a sign saying not parquing because of a construction. Unfortunately, I didn't know that because I was in Florida. When I parked my car any sign was not there. When I came back on Friday night my car wasn't there. When I went to the Tow Office, I asked the reason of why my car was towed (I think that's normal asking) the lady on front desk told me because my register was suspended and I was shocked. I told her to show me the form and she said no. I was 100% sure that my registration was fine. She recommended to go to MVC in Jersey City. When I went there, they told me that my registration was perfect. The mistake was from them. That lady read another form. She gave the information from another car. When I told her about her mistake, she said it was my fault. She didn't compare names on the forms. She even said sorry for the big mistake. I waste my time and money at MVC.I can't believe she didn't read correctly all documentations.I tried to call the manager but it is impossible.

My car recently broke down so I googled a towing company near me and this is the one it gave me, unfortunately. This was the WORST experience dealing with ANY service company I've ever encountered. There was nothing good about this place.- The woman working the front desk had a nasty attitude and kept the line long with her inability to help people in a timely manner.- The mechanic is this old grumpy guy who yelled at me and even swore at me.- Over the phone they told me the price for tow would be $100 if I got the work down at their shop, and there was a $60 dollar estimate fee for them to figure out the problem. They then charged me $514 to replace a front ball joint and alignment.. I said no way and they charged me $150 for the flatbed tow (WHEN THEIR SIGN SAYS 125) AND the $60 estimate fee. Not to mention my entire day was wasted and i accomplished nothing with them. To make matters worse they killed my battery (by leaving the key in the on position while sitting on a jack) and wouldnt jump it out of spite. Avoid this place at all costs! These were the worst people I've ever had to deal with, I literally told them how much i couldn't wait to give them horrible reviews. I really wish I could do more damage to them and didn't have to pay them $210 to waste my day and do nothing for me.

Absolutely terrible! Robbed me out of over $3000 and my truck is still not repaired. I ve been extorted by this place for the last week! They held my trailer and cargo hostage when it had absolutely nothing to with my truck They told my insurance that they could mail a check and told me that my insurance said that they wasn t paying, and their credit card machine was down that I need to wire transfer the money instead.Services: Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic

Was referred here by NYPD, thought that it could only be a good place. Worst experience, if I could give them 0 stars I would. I felt robbed after being served by these guys. The tow truck driver arrived and we told him our issue, we could not get into our car because the door lock was broken. He uses a jimmy to try to unlock it from the inside and it didn t work. Then he said wow guys, you ve got more problems than me and charged us $85. He then threatened to tow us to his shop if we didn t pay. We are from Toronto and had an urgent situation, we could not leave without proper assistance. I regret calling them. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE THUGS

If I could give this place a 0 I would. This place is run by a bunch of scammers. I was in an accident on the NJ Turnpike and this was the place that is contracted for where my accident happened. When I got to the shop, I was told that my bill was going to be over $600. They would not release my car to me until I paid for the tow, as well as services that I did not want nor authorize. They said that the additional services had already been completed so I had to pay or they would not let me to my car to get all of my belongings (the car was completed totaled). I had to fight with them to allow me to get my stuff. But I still had to pay for everything before they would release my plates to me. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM WHEN THEY SAY THAT THIS IS A LAW. It is NOT a law and even if it were, they can't perform any services without your authorization. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Worst place ever!! If I can give them zero stars I would. Got into an accident and they towed my car there while I went to the hospital. They wouldn t release me car to the repair shop by my home town and when they finally did, my car had a scratch from front to end on the opposite side from the impact. This is the last thing I want to deal after a horrific accident. How do they get away with thinks like this. Will get my lawyer involved!! Let s see what happens.

This was for emergency towing. The car was towed 10 miles and the prices quoted was $80. We agreed as it was only $5 more covered by insurance. We talked to them over the phone (Karen) and they did confirm the same price when the car was in the shop. In addition we needed tire change (the car does not have spare tire). But when they quoted $360 for tire that is $150-$180 elsewhere we decided to take the car for additional service. This is when they would not release the car and came up with extra charge of $330. This is violation of consumer act and blackmailing when customer has no choice in order to get the car back. This is simply unlawful if not criminal!

This is the worst mechanic I have ever been to. This is the only company that could offer us a tow due to our location on the highway and we were forced to bring it to their shop instead of the mechanic of our choosing. The problem we had brought it in for was not fixed and we only found this out after we had paid and tried to drive the car out of the shop. They stared claiming that we had brought it in for a completely different reason and the "repairs" they made were warranted. They absolutely were not and they gouged us to do unneeded work and not even fix the problem. The entire staff was incredibly rude throughout this process and then acted as if they did us a huge favor for FINALLY fixing the original issue. If you ever get towed to this shop call another tow to bring you literally anywhere else. I would give them negative stars if it were an option.

Worse customer service ever!!! All the staff are rude, talk to you with an attitude and they never help. Got my car towed there and they did not want to provide me a copy of the receipt claiming they do not do duplicates. Had me call million times and my agent to still not provide a clear copy of it. It is almost as if they are gauging their prices and they do not want people to know. disgusting!!!! Wish I could give no stars

These thieves should be arrested for attempted grand larceny. They towed my daughter's car from a nearby gas station and it was leaking antifreeze and overheating. They charged $60 to assess the repairs which itemized was $2k. Sensing they had me over a barrel and were attempting to rip me off I paid $200 for AAA to tow the car back to Staten Island to my honest mechanic. Turns out the car needed a water pump and my cost was $525. Seeing other's posts these people should be arrested. They get one star because giving zero stars is not an option!!

This place is exploitive and a disgusting excuse for a business. Do not go here. They will over charge you for everything simply because you were in a bad situation and your car broke down by where they are.

This is the worst shop I have ever dealt with. We had a nail in our tire and a tow came to pick us up after an hour. When I spoke with the driver I asked if he could put in a plug and he told me they would do it at the shop. When we got there I was told I needed a new tire. After arguing with them for 45 min they put in a plug and I was billed $80 for the plug. You would think that when someone is far from home with young kids and the customer is willing to pay for the service you would try to help them out and not screw them. Hopefully they get pulled from the tow rotation.

Literally the worst towing company ive ever came across. When it was time to get my car out , they sent me to two different locations just to get it. One location they sent me to was jus to pay for the storage cost , when I arrived at the 2nd location they sent me to , which was the impound lot , I had to wait 40 min jus to for the keys to my car. ( Keep in mind all of the locations at least 10 min apart and customer service kept me waiting) .

John's Main Purgatory is a more apt name.If you take nothing else away from this review PROTIP: DO NOT GET TOWED TO THIS SHOP HAVE THEM TOW YOU TO THE MAVIS LESS THAN ONE MILE AWAY IF YOU HAVE A FLAT TIRE. IF YOU ARE READING THIS REVIEW IN THE TOW TRUCK IT'S NOT TOO LATE FOR YOU MY FRIEND.After the experience I had with John's Main I know finally what it's like to live in a place that has an Oligarchy. The NJ Turnpike Authority has granted a handful of tow providers a State monopoly on all towing on the Turnpike. As such, these businesses have 0 incentive not to be awful because they have the Turnpike authority supplying them with fresh victims daily.PAY THE EXTRA $7 TO GET TOWED TO MAVIS LESS THAN A MILE AWAY. They are going to spend all day trying to buy your tire from Mavis, mark it up 500% and waste your time. The backstory- I don't have a donut(spare tire) with my car. I had a prior flat on the turnpike near Christmas 2017 So the last time I was on this rodeo:1. Call GEICO roadside, have them assign someone and cancel because the Turnpike only allows their Oligarchs on the road. Call the Turnpike Authority instead for a dispatch(#95 on your cell phone) Tell the NJTP you don't have a spare tire and need a tow.2. Wait for a NJTP assigned truck3. Have truck ask for my donut, tell them I told the dispatcher I don't have one. LOL Thanks Dispatch.4. They jack up car and take your wheel with them5. Wait until they get to another service area to mount and balance a new tire6. Wait for the new tire on your wheelThis took about 3 hours end to endSo the next time I vowed to get towed immediately to a shop that could replace the tire right away. BOY WAS I WRONG.As luck would have it, I had a next time last summer on the I-95 Western Spur around marker 113 steps from the Vince Lombardi service area which makes this even more painful of a story since the Sunoco there could have got me going faster, I believe. After having the driver go to the Eastern Spur instead because the Turnpike Authority dispatchers do not listen to what you are saying, I finally got the guy over to the Western spur, but when I said LEFT SHOULDER he also didn't listen to what I said and showed up on the RIGHT shoulder. After making this mistake of listening comprehension the driver gestured across the highway shoulder at me TO SOMEHOW WITH A FLAT TIRE FLOOR IT ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC INTO THE RIGHT SHOULDERI just shrugged at him like "LOL MAN R U KIDDING ME?"He finally took 4 running starts and made it over to me, got the car rigged up and away we go! He says OH YEA we can take care of you over at the place I work!Lo and it came to pass that Oh yes, I did make the tremendous mistake of allowing him to tow me to his employer, John's Main Autobody. As we're making the trip over I google the place and I see all of these other lovely reviews and I think uh oh this is going to be really wonderful...So this hole in the wall dive is tiny, with hard wooden benches- no chairs and NO A/C IN THE SUMMER.To call the staff rude and unhelpful would be an insult to unhelpful individuals. I was at no point argumentative with them like everyone else that was unlucky enough to roll through. I was perfectly nice and pleasant and it didn't buy me any courtesy.I was in this hot, unfriendly, purgatory from 8AM to 2PM. Yes, that's right I spent 6 HOURS GETTING A TIRE CHANGE.These guys are an absolute mess, you could overhear them arguing with themselves, the turnpike authority, about who was hiding instead of working, that they had lost NJ transit buses, all types of shenanigans. Someone had their car towed for a DUI showed up and accused them of ransacking the car- Priceless. Heard them talk about calling Mavis for my tire, drop the ball and not send anyone, then finally send someone. They got me the cheapest tire you can get, an $80 Kelly and booked me $400 for it. I got the car back finally with greasy hand-prints all over it and some of my loose change stolen, THANKS John's Main Autobody for adding insult to injury!Truly next level!

My brother's car was towed here, and they worked on his car without authorization which in turn made it worse. They drained his break line and filled it with air. They were trying to create problems to get more money out of him. The head mechanic was extremely disrespectful and would not admit any wrongdoing. He even said he had workers there which he does not find to be credible.

God help you if you break down on a certain part of the NJ Turnpike...It probably is all of them in this nonsensical system thise state has going on here. I imagine any company that, presumably, pays a significant kickback to the NJ Turnpike Authority (or whomever) and the politicians involved in such deals, is going to rob the helpless motorists blind that they now lord over. Can we even blame them? If there is no limit to what can be charged and no one to answer to because those people have all been paid off, they will charge exorbitant prices. Cool gig if you can get it. I can't imagine someone willfully going to these people, but I see it here. Unreal. Pretty much tarnishes my view of the entire state-system that this is allowed to continue. As it is easy for me to avoid, I will.

Low level scammers. My car broke on I-95 in NJ, the highway police called them to tow my car. My advice - just move your car some place else. Do not bother to see their estimate for repairs. It is sad that a place like this exists.

Worst worst worst experience ever in life. They don't know about human respect and manners .Their only intension is to squeeze money from customers. The people inside the office room and their mechanics outside are planning things together and lying .They told the estimate to repair the car for 800$,but we went other body shop and they repaired our car for 200$.This is the first time am writing a one star review, because I will think about their business, but this is a different experience ,Money is not the subject here, but they have to be genuine with the customer. They hurted us really really bad.One of the worst day in our life.
