Smitty s was recommended to me by a friend, as I needed a brake check and had never used a shop in Newark.What I found was an extremely responsive, professional, and skilled service center led by a kind and ethical owner. They worked with my schedule, they kept me updated on everything that they found, and gave me extremely fair and reasonable prices for their services.I am extremely satisfied with the work of Smitty s, and will be back if I need any further work done. If you re in the Newark area, give him a call.

This place is a gem!!! Highly recommend. My Prius died nearby so I walked over to the shop to see if they could help with my hybrid. The owner Smitty immediately walked with me to my car, jump started it, and replaced the battery (for a reasonable price!) within a couple hours. Absolutely wonderful service, and Smitty is a pleasure to chat with. I will certainly bring my car back if I have any more issues!

I met smitty for the 1st time today from just Googling a service shop in Newark, NJ. He was one of the most knowledgeable, and honest mechanics Who knows how to make you feel like family He helped guided me through my car service an inspection process Just want to say thank you I will highly recommend his shop to anyone looking for home to keep their car in good condition.

I called in the middle of the day, asked if they could help me with a car repair, and I was able to be seen within 10 minutes! They helped me remove a cracked plastic sheet from the bottom of my car that I broke while driving over a pothole. It was dragging on the road for 2 days, and within 15 minutes they took care of the problem for me. Smitty and Chris were curious, professional, and fun to talk to. They were upfront about everything, provided a great price for the repair, and truly upheld what a great small business is about. I will be coming back to Smitty's for all future repairs for as long as I live in Newark! They are the best kept secret in the area.

Both Smitty and his cousin were exceedingly personable, and welcoming. It felt like I was being helped by a family friend. They found me a tire for a reasonable price, and kept me apprised consistently. A great example of why you should try to go to local/independent businesses.

I was nervous to get my tires changed while out of town, but after finding this place, all of my worries were put to rest! Smitty s is a family run business that has been around for 90 years, and it shows as they run a tight ship. They really helped me out by making sure to meet my needs without charging me for extra services. They were honest and told me that my car really only needed two tires, and that saved me a big chunk of change. Also, after hearing that I was going to be driving my car back to Tennessee, they checked it out to make it would make the trip back there. I couldn t be more grateful to have found them. If you re looking for an honest, timely, and reliable group of people to work on your car, choose Smitty s!

I was driving from NY to PA and had car troubles while nearby this auto shop 5 minutes before closing. I can not be more grateful for the owner for helping me in my time of my need! He helped me, found the problem and gave me the most honest advice on what my car needed. Thank you!

Within 10 mins walking distance from the apartment, I was able to get the car's oil changed and, recently, inspected. Overall, quick turnaround for a fair price makes them good mechanics.
