Hoffman's Foreign Auto is an excellent business, that I will certainly work with again. I had a run in with a dishonest mechanic, and brought my vehicle into Hoffman's for a safety check. Eric worked quickly and confirmed my fears about the previous shop with a very professional online report. I'm so thankful for his diagnosis and look forward to doing business with Hoffman's Foreign Auto in the future.Hoffman's restored my faith in mechanics, their services come highly recommended!

Eric is great! I brought in the family minivan because of an odd noise. He inspected all critical parts of the car, checked service records, and made appropriate recommendations for service. The price was very reasonable and there were zero attempts at upselling. I will be using Eric s services again for my aging family hauler.

Best independent mechanic I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They did the 30K service on my 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan and gave me a comprehensive report via email/text that showed what was done and what's required on my vehicle - including items that are defective that are covered under manufacturer warranty. They could have easily taken advantage and charge me all the crazy add-on items that is typical with most dealership service shops - clearly, they value their own integrity and reputation. The prices were reasonable and it's obvious that they take pride in the work they do. So long as they continue their operations, I'll happily give them my business.

Eric and his team are amazing!! Each time I take my car there everything is super efficient. Eric will diagnose the car right down to the noise. Afterwards he will give you the options for treating the car and everything price wise is extremely fair. Conveniently located right next to the Walnut Street train station in Montclair, you can drop your car off in the morning and have it back when you return home from the city. He will even let you know the estimated time for completion if you need to plan to have alternate transportation. I have two foreign cars(VW), and I will never stop bringing my them here. Fantastic care for my 20-year-old Saab convertible. Erik gives written estimates, they are accurate, and he explains what he s done clearly and succinctly. His shop is immaculate which is a good sign. And very important he is 2 blocks from the NJ Transit station, so I can easily drop my car on the way to work and pick it when I return. Highly recommended!

Eric is awesome, friendly, kind and professional. I immediately felt comfortable with him and handing over my 2006 Volvo. Front axle and wheel bearings needed to be replaced and price was reasonable. The best part was the turn around time was 24 hours. I ll definitely be coming back.Thank you Eric!!

I had a great experience with Hoffman's Foreign Auto for routine servicing on my vehicle. Eric was able to fit me into his schedule quickly, sent me a very thorough list of both urgent and non-urgent recommendations for the vehicle prior to doing any work, and did it all for a very fair price. Skip the dealership and come here! I know I will be from now on.

Eric is the absolute best mechanic I have ever been to! I have been taking my cars to Hoffman's Foreign Auto for 7 years and the service has been nothing less than excellent. Eric is very knowledgeable in his trade and honest when it comes to repairs. He works quick and gives you the best price compared to any other mechanic in the area. I am 100% a lifetime customer!

Eric does excellent work and treats customers fairly. He clearly notifies customers about what needs to be done (and what could be done later) and explains the level of effort and costs involved. I've been taking my car to Hoffman's Foreign Auto for almost 10 years, 3 of which I lived in another state and drive back to Hoffman's Foreign Auto for any service and repair needs. I would not trust my car with anyone but Hoffman's Foregign Auto. They provide top quality service and customer care. I highly recommend Hoffman's Foregign Auto.

I have had several maintenance needs performed on my 2008 Saab these last several months. The latest was the heated seats. The job was done reasonably ($), efficiently, and thoroughly. My entire family have been going to Mr. Hoffman for over a decade. We don't trust anyone else with our vehicles for anything from routine servicing to major repairs. Mr. Hoffman does impeccable work, we have not had a single complaint on a repair over five cars in ten years. He is always cost conscious, and can give honest advice on whether to proceed with a repair based on overall car value and lifespan.It also helps that he's a quick stroll to the Walnut Street train station so you can drop your car off before going into the city.I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been taking my 2008 Mercedes Benz to Hoffmans Foreign Auto for several years. Eric the owner is very professional and he always gets my car back to me within a reasonable time frame (usually same day). He explains in detail what needs to be done and always provides an estimated cost before making repairs. His prices are very affordable.I've never had to take my car back due to repairs not being done correctly. I will continue to use Hoffmans for my car repairs. What I love about Eric is when he fixes your car, it's done right the first time. He warranties his work and if there is a problem within the warranty period, it's fixed at no cost to you. In addition, Eric is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Nice guy, does great work--a winning combination.

My Saab has 280,000+ miles, and I brought it to Hoffman's last month for the first time. Eric did a thorough inspection of the car and found 2 items in the rear suspension that had corroded due to Saab's use of poorly specified steel (a reportedly common Saab problem). He explained how the failure could cause a problem in high speed emergency situations (I drive a bit quickly.) He showed me photos of the corrosion in both places, and we agreed have Eric fix the problem at the next service. No one else had ever looked for non obvious problems and then documentedthem! Believe it or not, ALL these 5 star reviews are TRUE!! Eric is an honest, fair, friendly, organized, professional technician and gentleman. His assessment and diagnosis of our BMW was spot on. We decided to buy a new "used" car based on his honest and careful inspection of the problems. We recommend him 100%.

Hoffman s is the most professional business I ve dealt with!I don t leave lots of reviews in general, but Eric is the consummate professional. If you are looking for a highly capable, honest mechanic who is the perfect balance of know-how and customer service, you shouldn t look anywhere else.

I had an excellent experience at Hoffman's, and though the particular issue (with the ECM) meant our car had to be referred to a main VW dealer, the route to that diagnosis was quick, friendly, honest and straightforward and the service was excellent. We'll definitely be back.
