I think it s free or at least less expensive to take my car to the dealership for tune-ups, but I never would because I trust Nelson s 100%. I think it s been 15 or 20 years by now and it s never been anything but top-level quality of work and honest communication.

I went here after I saw the review stating that this is "the mechanic that you are forever in search for". That was completely truthful, I am greatful for the service that Dave provided me and I will absolutely be back the next time I need more work done on my car.

Dave at Nelson s has been my primary mechanic since I moved to Maplewood 20+ years ago. If you value integrity, experience and professionalism, then I highly recommend Nelson s for all of your domestic or foreign auto repair / maintenance needs. Dave will always give you an honest assessment of the repairs that are really required at reasonable prices and he ll never try to upsell you on repairs that your car really doesn t need. I also know that I can trust Nelson s to perform quality work on my cars with the utmost attention to detail.

You know that mechanic you are forever in search of? With the expertise to troubleshoot any problem you may have, the intellect to anticipate your underlying needs and recommend preemptive maintenance, and the morality to do it all with your safety and best interest front and center? Yeah, that mechanic is Dave. When he and Ginny finally retire, there'll be a collective wail heard throughout Maplewood, South Orange, and Millburn.

I rely on Nelson's as my go-to for car repair. I came in with what I thought was a dead clutch, presuming a thousand dollar repair, and he came back with a $180 bill, because the clutch was fine. So, I respect him as an honest businessman.
