Early this year I was looking for a van builder on the east coast, found 2 in NJ where I live, 1 in Philly, 1 in NYC. After speaking with 3 of the outfits, I chose to drive to Sequoia & Salt to meet with Chris Shashaty to speak with him in person and to see some vans that they were in the process of building. I chose Sequoia & Salt to build my van based on the solid and beautiful craftsmanship and quality of work that I saw in the vans on their lot that day. I also chose Sequoia & Salt to build my van based on the honesty and decency that I sensed in Chris and his sweet and beautiful wife Sara that day. I have now been in my newly built out van for a solid 3 months, it s my daily driver and I live/sleep in it for up to a week at a time, the build is solid and tight, everything works as it should and I m happy and comfortable, everything has been beautifully put together by the build team. Chris and Sara are easy to get in touch ( both during the build and now) they always promptly answer my emails and calls. I highly recommend Sequoia & Salt to anyone looking for a van builder, I m so happy that I chose them. I love my van!!

I had an exceptional experience with Sequoia + Salt in the building of my RV. Chris and CJ aren't just fantastic professionals, they've become friends. Their approach to their work is friendly and personal, treating my van as if it were their own. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding, evident in every detail of the van. When we met Chris and Sara at an RV show my wife and I were only planing on gathering information. They spent tons of time talking to us answering every question I had. The knowledge of their product and passion for the lifestyle was obvious. Chris had already told me that the Stoke model Mercedes 144 4x4 they had on display was not for sale. I asked him to sell it to me anyway. His response was are you serious? And my reply was simple. I didn t spend the last two hours talking to you if I wasn t . A deal was struck and a handshake made. I picked up the stoke a few weeks later and can t wait to start my journey into this lifestyle. I am confident that if and when I need assistance with anything. Chris and Sara as well as the rest of the team at Sequoia and Salt will be ready to help.

We had our Sprinter van converted by S+S about a year ago. We had interviewed a few places to do the build, but S+S stood out for quality and responsiveness. They do beautiful work and stand by their product. During the design phase they were patient and also pushed back when our ideas were unreasonable (which we wanted them to do!), but also had a lot of great suggestions for us. We've been living in the van full time for about 6 months and are very happy with it. Everyone we show it to is impressed! Also, they are a super nice bunch of people!

Rented their Highlander for the weekend, and it was a really nice experience!!! The build and interior were absolutely beautiful; it's very clear that they put a lot of thought into the design. The kitchen is highly functional, and the power supply was more than efficient. They even pre-filled the water tank, a thoughtful touch we appreciated. And customer service was incredible; they made sure we were all set before we headed out. It's also very clear that they are passionate about what they do.Very first-time camper-friendly, so definitely a great place to start if you're interested in renting or building your own van.

I had a great experience with Chris and Sara from start to finish. It was fun talking through different plans for my dream van with Chris; and he even helped me locate a van to build out during a time when finding a van seemed like an impossible task. The communication back and forth was positive and they were quick to respond to my questions and requests. The van they delivered was everything I had hoped for; I love it and can't wait to hit the road!

After 67 years of living in NY, I decided to move to the West coast to be closer to my children and grandchildren. Since I wasn t sure where I wanted to live, a Sequoia and Salt van conversion was the perfect solution. Chris and Sara were kind, patient and communicative. They set clear expectations and time frames which were met or exceeded. The quality, craftsmanship and design of their conversion is masterful. It clearly reflects their knowledge of and passion for van life, as well as a deep pride in their work. The lay out is functional, bed very comfy, the garage is a life saver and maintenance is easy. After traveling 7,500 miles across the country and up the West coast, there isn t a thing I would change. It s been perfect! Bonus: the many people I ve met when they stop by and admire everything about my new home

We had a wonderful experience working with Sequoia + Salt from our first email through the final moments. Their process was very clear, and their team was very knowledgeable. This is our first camper so we had a lot of questions, some very basic, some confusing : ) They always took the time to answer any of our questions and concerns. At first, we were going to have the van transported to the West Coast but Chris, the owner, encouraged us to pick up the van in person. We are soooo happy we made this decision and what a way to break in the tires! Chris went through every part of the van in an orientation that took about two hours. Seriously if you are thinking about buying a van, you should make sure to do this! The quality and craftsmanship exceeded our expectations! We are so grateful; we can t wait to meet other S+S vans on the road! Beep beep!

Thank you to Chris, Sara, Finn, and the whole crew at Sequoia and Salt. We searched to find the right company to work with and we are so glad to have found you. Such a great combination of design, experience and craftsmanship! Our van is beautiful and has just the right components for our life on the road. I really appreciated all of your help and advice in buying and shipping the van, during the build and design and then getting us settled in and on our way. This has been a great experience, and now we are out on the road having big adventures. I somehow thought the van might feel small and confining, but it is lovely, and when I open the side door I have a really big backyard!

THANK YOU to the whole crew at Sequoia and Salt for the excellent work on our van! We were so lucky to find a local company that had the exact layout we wanted, and consulted with us on what should have in the van based on our needs. Our new home on wheels (named Gerti) is beautiful, with a high level of care and craftsmanship. I also loved that they never tried to push us towards complicated systems or add-ons that we didn t need. After a great orientation from Chris, we felt confident and ready to hit the road. This has been an excellent experience and we couldn t be happier.

We highly recommend Sequoia + Salt. Chris was very receptive to our questions during the build and after we took possession. We took our first trip (only two nights) two weeks ago to Wharton State Forest as a maiden voyage, everything worked perfectly! Our next trip is to High Point State Park and then an extended trip to Prince Edward Island, Canada. We love the camper van.Steven and Marcy

I'll try to be brief but it will be tough. We looked for months for a slightly used camper van. We toured dozens in person and looked online at every site imaginable- We didn't find a van we loved that was a quality build. Then we saw one listed for sale that was perfect. It looked great, was nice and clean and well appointed, well priced, and it was clear that the electrical and plumbing were expertly and meticulously installed. That van was sold and it disappeared but after much detective work, we tracked down the folks who built it, and you guessed it- it was Sequoia and Salt! After a brief conversation with Chris and Sara we were in contract (despite that fact that we live in California and they are clear across the country in New Jersey.)From the start they were professional, personable, transparent and generous with their time. They explained the process thoroughly and most importantly - they listened to us. They took great care in learning about what our dream van would be and how they could help make our dream come true. They helped me locate my Pro Master 159 High Roof van which we had to have shipped to them from a dealership in Wisconsin and they made that process smooth and worry free for us. They told us it would take six weeks to do our conversion as we had quite a few add ons, and our van was completed as promised right on time. We got video and photos along the way and both Chris and Sara were available to talk to me every time I had a question or an idea we wanted to bat around with them. If a Dodge Pro Master is what you want- there is no one else out there who can do a better conversion that Sequoia and Salt (and we have all the confidence in the world that they could work with any make or model.).At pick up day - we were of course excited to see the finished product but we were also so happy to meet Chris and Sara, as well as the rest of the S & S team. They are all genuinely lovely people- what a bonus! (The attached photo is us with part of the S & S crew on pick up day.) Upon pick up Chris gave us a two hour tutorial and when we pulled away we felt like we were saying "so long" to old friends. We've had several adventures in our van already and it is better that we imagined it could be.Chris lived in his van for 2 years (I hope I remembered that right Chris - it was 2 years, right?) and he knows what works and what doesn't. He knows what makes living in a van comfortable and convenient. He is an expert at his craft and he and Sara have mustered a team of people who work together like a well oiled machine. In short- Sequoia and Salt is the best out there.

Renting a van at Sequoia + Salt will go down as one of the most fun times we've had in 2023! The Van was BEAUTIFUL, easy to drive, and simply a blast to "live in" for 4 days. We drove it to Maine, parked at the beach, and woke up to the sunrise and waves lapping! Everything about it was so easy and functionable as far using it to sleep and cook and live out of while parked and enjoyed our days at the beach! It was also a chance for us to see what it was like being that we've been thinking about getting a van for a while...do it! it was fun!!!!

We love Sequoia + Salt!We moved into the beautiful van they built for us three weeks ago and we absolutely love it! It s so cozy and homey. The design is beautiful and the craftsmanship is great!The best thing about Sequoia + Salt is just how helpful and honest they all are. Chris and the team really went out of their way to meet our unique needs and schedule. They never tried to sell us something we didn t actually need and are still very present in addressing our questions, concerns and any hiccups that arise.Sequoia + Salt is a lovely and small family business where every one is always super friendly, full of smiles whenever we visit and a real pleasure to talk to.We re so happy we chose Sequoia + Salt for our build and would totally recommend them to any one looking into vanlife!

Kudos to Chris and his crew. We picked up our completed van from Chris's NJ shop in April and drove it back to our home state of MN. The adventures had begun. During this summer of 2022 we have taken a number of camping trips with the van. Everything from underground caving to the headwaters of the Mississippi River. But there are two things we would offer about the van itself. First, the quality is really impressive. The workmanship is first rate and executed very well. Everyone who sees our van is wowed by the look. Second, the concept of the design is really the outstanding feature. Chris and his crew have created a plan that is very comfortable to drive, simple to operate, and flexible to use - everything is open from formal campgrounds to the back 40 farm field to a friend's driveway - it works in all of the above.

We have just spent a month in our wonderful Ram Promaster van conversion by Sequoia & Salt. From the swivel seats to the comfy full-size bed we could not be happier! As two recently retired teachers, we are planning many more fabulous trips. Chris knows his stuff and does a fantastic job of providing the basics plus some additional comforts of van life without unnecessary expenses. Sara, his business partner, is the communication person. Great team! Great product!

I found S+S after researching vans for about a year. We were so impressed by the build quality and attention to detail. It s rare to find in this industry. Now that I have owned the van for several months, everything doing great! We have already done several trips in our van with no issues. Chris made the buying process a breeze, considering I was located 700 miles away. He was quick with updates throughout the buying process and always there to answer all my questions. We cannot wait to plan many more adventures in our cozy new camper van!

Still loving my van! Over 1.5 years with my van and the build still looks brand new and it's not from lack of use. I am so happy with the quality of work from Sequoia+Salt. If you aren't sure-do it. It's worth it.

We worked with Chris and Sara to build this van. Chris was an angel from the beginning. Chris and crew were just in the beginning stages of building out a 2015 Dodge Ram Promaster. My husband and I decided to forgo house hunting (after a year's time) and purchase a van to live in for the summer. We had just been burned on purchasing a van and were feeling discouraged. Time was ticking and Chris kept to his word. They completed this van with a few personalized requests in a very timely manner. All went very smoothly and all interactions have been amazing and helpful and pleasant. What a great group of folks and what great work they do. We highly recommend having Sequoia and Salt build out your van. Thank you everyone!

We were so blessed to find Sequoia and Salt. The build out process took 30 days, exactly the time they quoted. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was impeccable, producing not only a functional, but beautiful space. They re extremely knowledgeable and always answered any questions/concerns that we had. We purchased the van from out of state, and Chris and Sara updated us with photos, videos and emails as it progressed. We are first time vanners and relied solely on their expertise, which completely paid off! We absolutely love our van and we would have never been able to do this ourselves. I've just gotten back from a month on the road in my newly built van, and I love it SO MUCH.I came to Sequoia and Salt with a badly built van that was literally falling apart inside. Chris and team completely overhauled it. The planning and build process were clear and transparent, and the communication was great. 4,500 miles later, and I couldn't be happier. Here's what I especially appreciate about my van build:-- Quality: The build is solid as a rock, and beautifully put together.-- Functionality: Everything I need, nothing I don't. I wondered if I had enough solar power / battery power; Chris assured me I did. I had my doubts, but he was right. I was able to run the air conditioner and fridge all night in Floriday, and the heater in NJ. The van stayed cool in the heat, and is toasty now that we're going into winter in the northeast.-- Beauty. The van is gorgeous, light and airy. I'm so glad I got a swivel seat for the passenger side, and they also added vented rear windows which made all the difference.I did get some extras in addition to the base build, and after my trip I'm really glad I did - they were all super worth it.-- pull-out drawer for the garage: makes it SO MUCH easier to load and find things-- vented rear windows. This and the maxair fan were enough to keep me cool on all but the hottest nights-- swivel passenter seat - really opens up the space. I think I'll get another for the driver's side.-- heater. You don't need to run it much - the van warms up really fast - but I was very grateful to have this in November.Thank you Chris, Sara, and team! I love my van so much :-D

S&S recently converted our Promaster 2500 159 WB hi-roof van. Working with Chris and Sara and their team of specialists in every aspect of the conversion process has been a thoroughly enjoyable, successful, and informative experience. From the time I contacted them earlier this year, their guidance and assistance has been timely and consistently helpful at every step -- from locating and purchasing a van, to designing, building and delivering a wonderful product.Besides the fact that Chris and Sara are just delightful young people to know and work with, my 5-star rating is based on a number of factors:* Their work is informed by experience building, living, and traveling extensively in their own vans. As a result, they have a reassuringly hands-on knowledge of what works and what doesn't.* They specialize in converting Promaster vans, so they are able to focus their resources and energies on the best possible components and configurations for vehicles like ours.* They work from their own standard design template which is functionally and aesthetically outstanding and provided us with clear and reasonable pricing points and basic build options from which to get started.* From soup to nuts, they were unfailingly receptive and responsive to even the most speculative thoughts and ideas about additions or modifications to match our particular needs and interests. In doing due diligence before and during the build, we spent time traveling in rented campervans, watching countless Youtube van-tour videos and subscribing to a wide variety of van-build and van-life groups such as "Promaster Build Out" on Facebook. On the many occasions on which I contacted S&S about a question or idea from such sites, the team at S&S usually had answers and a better and often less expensive way to go!* Their time-line for completing the conversion was short, clearly stated, and met [with the exception of delivery delays for the vacuum-toilet we wanted for the van, which were completely down to Laveo and beyond the control of S&S]In short, we could not be happier with the creativity, quality, and beauty of their work, and I cannot recommend S&S more highly.

What a wonderful team to work with! The build was beautiful, incredibly functional, and after 2.5mos on the road ....all systems are still very much go!We had a few customizations early on and the team was a dream to work with.....know they have our back down the line too!Great value, great systems, great aesthetic, and a great team - highly recommend!!!
