Bad experience at Total Performance, with Chris who I went to Lincoln Tech with 30 years ago! I brought my car there for brakes and a tune-up, had my own parts, I received a call from his wife Theresa, who said that the work would cost over $2,000 that's just for labor, I said no thanks I'll be right there to pick up my car, only to find out that the person who moved my car, hit the fence and said nothing to me or them about it and then lied to my face saying it didn't happen there, well I know for a fact that it was done there, because I was away for a month and just got back my car from the bodyshop, my car is/was in excellent condition!

Had an alignment done on my 2023 ram rebel, after installing a 2 readylift. Great customer service, very accommodating and knowledgeable. Definitely will go back in the future.

They work on other 4x4s as well, not just Jeeps!I've brought my vehicle in to replace my suspension (shocks and leave springs). I brought it back a year later for a winch & winch mount install. Great job. It's great having this local resource! Communication was great.Service: Steering & suspension replacementService: Steering & suspension replacement

I cannot say enough positive things about Total Performance. The staff is incredibly responsive, welcoming, and honest. It's no wonder there's always a wait to have your vehicle serviced there. Their exceptional service and expertise make it clear why I wouldn't trust my Jeep with any other auto shop. Total Performance truly goes above and beyond.

I have been going to Total Performance for almost 7 years now, and there is no one else I would trust my Jeep with. Chris and his team/family are very down to earth, knowledgeable, honest, and hardworking! I get compliments on my jeep almost every day and love all the work Chris has done to it. I will no doubt be a life-long customer to Total Performance.Services: Transmission, Exhaust, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Tire rotations, Wheel alignment, Brakes

Reputable shop from all my research, but I can only speak for Total Performance s customer service as I never worked with them based on the awful lead up to my scheduled appointment. Unfortunately, despite stopping in at the shop months in advance, emailing a list of components and calling multiple weeks in advance, TP decided to change the timing of the drop off process with me with no advance notice and provided me no alternative but to "bring them over now". Theresa then proceeded to tell me how she was trying to work with me to schedule and when I suggested that this change in timing had nothing to do with me and everything to do with them, Theresa decided to immediately cancel my appointment all together. Nice right, months of planning, emails conversations, and then bang, Total Performance pulled the rug out my appointment because I spoke up about the problem a schedule change caused. Thanks for wasting about 2 months of my time and energy. Read the other reviews, it s obviously your world Total Performance, the customer is just passing through.

Chris and his staff beautifully TRANSFORMED my stock Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited in 2012 with a full AEV lift kit, wheels, tires, spare tire carrier etc... The build was everything I expected and more. For anyone worried about vibration or the dreaded "death wobble" on a lifted Jeep, take your Jeep to Chris as my Jeep drove MUCH better after the AEV lift kit was installed. Fast forward 10+ years and my Jeep is still a head turner, and the work Chris did is still going strong today. I would give 6 stars if I that was an option and have recommended Total Performance to everyone over the past 10 years who has stopped me and asked me about this beautiful build !

First time customer : I honestly, can say that I ve been to several repair shops for my issue, and these people were the only ones to correct the issue.I found them out of luck and I m glad I did, their staff is extremely courteous, very professional. Their accommodations were more than adequate, and they really went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy after everything was done. This is very few and far between these days and I wanna thank everyone there for doing such an outstanding job.

I would never have these people work on my 1979 Jeep CJ7. Stopped in 8 weeks ago (October 2022) to make appointment for them to look at the carburetor, as the truck was running rich, and to look at the steering as it is sloppy. I was told they were busy and they could not look at the Jeep for 4 weeks. I made the appointment for November 17th 2022. I also told them the Jeep had been completely renovated from the frame up and did not have doors or a top but I do have a cab cover. They told me no problem. The day before my appointment I called to confirm and I was told they all had the flu and they could not take the Jeep. I understood and they said that they would call to reschedule. It is now December 2, 2022, I called to see when I could bring the Jeep in for the scheduled work. The guy that answered the asked if the Jeep had doors and a top; I said it only had a cab cover, no doors or top. He said he would not take the Jeep as it is too cold to drive and hung up the phone. After waiting 8 weeks for these people, they now do not want to work on my Jeep because it is too cold for them to drive it.I do not know why anyone would take their vehicle there for service.Service: Auto engine tuning

Very friendly and organized. LOTS of jeeps worked on here. I had a rear main seal leak with my 2001 TJ. They repaired it in a timely fashion and tested it extensively before returning it. It's been bone dry for weeks now.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

By far that best shop around. Chris and is crew were very patient with me and jeep questions. My Jeep came out great and I have received many "Nice Jeep" comments since. Best way to tell it came out great. I can go on about how great this place is but if you drive by you can tell it is the place to bring your Jeep, Truck or car too. Thanks again Total Performance.

I hate that I have to write review but people need to KNOW. Be very careful with these people I had my Jeep here for 3 weeks and had appointment to have truck worked on, but they gave me excuse after excuse to keep pushing my date back, so when I question the women on the phone she gave me an attitude and told me to just come pick up truck that they won t be fixing and hung up on me, and on top of that they said my Jeep need lifters and cams on the Drivers side so when she told me to pick up truck I decided to bring to Jeep dealership in Ramsey and have them look at it. Within one day Jeep dealer told me my lifters and cams where not an issue at all and I just needed to replace drive belt. Total performance wanted to charge me $2,100 for replacement that wasn t needed. Saved myself around $1,900. This place should be called total scam not total performance. ( if you read all the reply s from this company on reviews you can just see what kind of people you are dealing with, very rude and arrogant when you try to question them) and on top of all of this my car was filled with sap from trees where they part the cars, these people don t care about you or your car.

I always saw well built jeep wranglers at Total so when my son blew his TJ headgasket I figured Total was a good prospect. I stopped in to speak with Chris the owner and he was very infomative and good to speak with. I know a lot about the jk but the tj not so much and He connected the dots and possibilites. I had a best and worst case senario verbal quote as far as work necessary and pricing. After a couple of weeks I pulled the trigger and towed it to Total and within 2 days Chris called me in to look at the fluids that were removed to make a call on repair or new motor. That was an unlikely call from a mechanic since most dont want to bothered with the customer..he wanted to ask whether I would go from this point and just repair the head gasket as risk future problems as the fluids showed unfavorable signs of coolant contamination. Or at this stage for not that much more in labor to swap the motor. Well I found a great motor that day and had it shipped several days later. Chris and his crew had it in within a week and it runs like a new "old" jeep tj! Thanks a million Chris!Service: Engine repair

Chris and his mechanic, Mike were awesome when we unexpectedly broke down on the highway while heading home to CT. Based on the positive reviews we read about Total Performance we asked our tow driver to bring the car there (on a Sunday night). Although Chris was already backlogged with his Monday repair schedule, he fit us in so we could resume our 5 hour trip to her home. Thank you Chris for your kindness and empathy and professionalism. We highly recommend you!!!

The best place to go to lift your truck! The guys really know their stuff! All the guys drive lifted vehicles including the owner, Chris who is really nice to deal with and very fair. It's refreshing to deal with a business owner who is not just looking to sell you as much stuff as possible. Chris gave me great advice on what upgrades were worth doing and what what ones were not. Greatly appreciated - Thanks!

Professional, personable, kind and cost-effective on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Coolant System rebuild. They did exactly as they promised on both timeline and estimate, standing behind their work with a 1yr. warranty. Very happy to find a capable mechanic who does not rely on a computer and will return for service as long as we own the Jeep.Services: Electrical repair, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioningServices: Electrical repair, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

I have been driving for 28 years and have owned many vehicles in that time frame. I have struggled for many years to find an honest, reliable, courteous and competent mechanic until I found Chris and his team at Total Performance. I recently had grinding breaks and called Chris to have my breaks replaced. He had a full schedule but managed to squeeze me in for the next day to replace the brakes and rotors. He explained to me" I have to fit you in because I cant let you drive with an unsafe car". I dropped my car off first thing the next morning and my car was ready by the end of the same day just like he said it would be. The amazing thing is that it only cost me $80 dollars. My brakes were still good and just needed to be cleaned and now the grinding noise is gone. Every mechanic I have been to in the past would have charged me for the brakes and rotors but not CHRIS!!! I have been using Total Performance for about 10 years and all of my experiences have been as pleasurable as the one I described. Thank you Chris and the team at Total Performance.!

If you're looking for an honest and really good auto mechanic. This is the place!!!! Jeeps are their specialty. The lot is always filled with them. But they work on everything. They take the time to explain what you need now. And what can wait without putting your safety at risk or damaging your vehicle. They're not looking to make a quick buck. Brought my grand cherokee in today and Chris the owner, took the time to explain everything. He and his wife who also works there, are very personable. As I put more aftermarket work into my jeep. I plan on asking for their advice. I know they will not steer me wrong. If you're in the Mahwah area definitely check them out. You will not be disappointed. One more thing. Everybody who works there drive some pretty sick looking jeeps!!!!! So they know what they're talking about.

I made an appointment to get my airbags installed on my truck and waited for three weeks for the install day to come. On the day that i made the appointment 3 weeks ago, they looked up what i wanted to have them install on my truck, did their research, and they said they could install it no problem. The install day finally comes, i drop my truck off at midnight the night before so they can start working on it right the next morning. Then i receive a call from the shop saying that i needed to come pickup the truck because they were "not comfortable installing this kit on my truck based off what i planned on using it for". My ram 1500 has a towing capacity of 10k gvrw + FROM THE FACTORY .... I wanted airbags installed on my truck to fix the squat, not increase towing capability. Apparently they've never heard of a coil replacement airbag system before and didn't seem to think my truck was capable of towing a 24' trailer with a dodge challenger inside with a set of airbags rated for 16k lbs instead of my stock coil springs.Long story short, i lost nearly a month of my time where i could have had someone else do it, wasted a day off of work to drop off the truck, and am now back in the same spot i was nearly a month ago... furthest thing from pleased at the moment.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Wouldn't recommend this place. Took my money twice to re-charge my A/C system, and the second time they happened to find the leak and quoted me $700+ for repairs. If only, they found the leak the first time, I wouldn't have payed to have it re-charged twice!! I also had them inspect both my rear wheels because of a grinding noise, and they charged me to fix it but the noise came back a few days later. Along with the sealing of my third brake light still results in water condensation. Was also charged for that. You would think that these guys would test things before returning it to the customer. This is unfortunate because this is very close to my home and I found Chris and Theresa very personable but the prices are out of control. Looking elsewhere for an aftermarket truck shop.

I brought my truck in for repair, I was given an estimate which I was ok with. I supplied the part for the repair, when I picked up the truck they welded the part on the wrong way, they told me they had to make modifications to make it fit.If they put the part on the way the old one came off there would have been no modifications necessary. Because of the mistake it cost me $200 in labor more then I been quoted. They did a nice job on the weld but I was not pleased overall. Bill O UPDATE Do you really think because you made a mistake over 5 years ago customers should not know of how you conduct business, by posting a response on the review is not reaching out to the customer you should not have charged the customer(me) for the extra labor for correcting your mistake.

I have to be honest.. these guys were fantastic. I took my truck in for a lift kit and tires. Chris walked me through the entire process and helped find me the best deal. A day or two later I had a slight wobble in the front end. They took it back and re-balanced the tires and now it rides like a dream. They were courteous and professional at all times. True professionals.

I really could not be happier with the level of service and the quality of work between Chris and his entire team! I had a 3.5" lift installed along with new 35" tires and MT rims on my 2011 Ribicon. Chris nailed it! In addition to the lift and tires the MOPAR bumper had to be modified to receive the new tire carrier, the installation is perfect with the 48" High Lift jack! Chris took his time explaining every detail to me and why somethings would look or work better thank others. He took my numerous questions in stride. Next in line......a snorkel and supercharger! 100% satisfied no question! Total Performance is the place!

Chris and the entire team at TPI are extremely courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. They installed a 2.5" lift and outfitted wheels and tires. Chris walked me through the whole process and added his honest opinion when I asked for them. Top notch. I'd absolutely recommend them!
