Called to have brakes checked. Brakes were squeaking prior to visiting Captan Auto Repairs. Was told the rear brakes were in brand new condition. They polished the drum brakes in the back. Front pads were mostly worn out. Front rotors had some warping in them. Both pads and rotors were replaced. Was told to brake lightly for the first 100 miles. During that time I noticed a few instances of high pitched squeaking. After 100 miles passed I started braking normally and noticed squeaking whenever making full stops, especially when stopping down hills. When I brought it back to Captan Auto Repair I told the owner the brakes were still squeaking. He said he didn't know what squeaking was. We went to drive down the road and I demonstrated the squeak. He said it was the rear brakes. Which I was told were in brand new condition when the brakes were checked. Clearly I was frustrated and questioned why I was told they were in "brand new condition" if he is claiming they are the problem. The purpose of my visit from the start was to have my brakes checked. I did not get an explanation why I was told the brakes in the back were in "brand new condition" while he now claimed they are the problem. I left feeling confused by the inconsistent explanation and still having squeaking brakes.(Edit 1)I came in to get brakes checked, front were replaced, rear I was told were like new. Brakes should not squeak at all after a proper brake job. When we did the test drive I was told specifically not to press the brakes hard, likely to hide the fact that they still squeak. Thats why I said the brakes felt better, if I had pressed brakes hard the squeaking would be obvious right away. The next place I went to said that it is normal to press hard when testing new brakes. They also said that my brake job was rushed, they did the minimum and did not properly lubricate everything. And to be clear I did not wait 2 weeks to come back, I came back 3 days later once I passed 100 miles and the squeaking was obvious. And when I did come back he threatened to hit me over the head when I asked him to take the wheels off so I could see if the brakes were actually new.

I went to this mechanic to repair my tire and he did a good quick job, I even gave him a tip. He told me I needed brakes done soon so I came back to get an estimate cause I had my own brakes. He told me 150. I said thank u but I went to get mine done in NY for a more reasonable price. The NY mechanic did good but the brake sign did not go away because of the computerized parking brake system that was needed to reset the symbol. So I decided to go and ask this guy if he can do the quick fix and I would pay him. He told me and I quote go back to NY where u got it fixed since u wanted to go the cheap way out . I took that with a grain of salt, and now he will never see me or family members that I was going to refer ever again. He did not have to be a jerk. But thank u for revealing how u really feel about ur customers sir.

I was a little confused on some things since it was my first time getting repairs on my first car. Everyone explained everything super well and was super helpful. More than likely will come by next time I need any help :)

I got new tires installed. I must say they did a great job. Issue was when it came time to pay they wanted another 20 bucks to dispose of my old tires, which had not been stated when I inquired about the price. Seems a little flaky. It's like you landscaper cutting your grass then knocking on the door for extra money to get rid of the clippings. I probably would have went elsewhere if the extra 20 was known, but they did do a good job.

While driving I noticed my tire was close to flat so I pulled into Captan Auto Repairs to use the air machine. It became apparent the tire was shot. The owner/mgr (?) offered to take a look, which he did immediately, even though he was working on other cars. He was able to patch the tire and I was on my way in less than 20 minutes. I'm very grateful for the quick and professional service!Service: Tires

I took my car to three other places all of them had High estimates. And they said also I need this done and not done. So I took my car to the cabin order he found the problem 1 2 3. I don't know what the other place is said to me and he turned around and said you don't need that he is very honest and trustworthy. And he did a nice job on my car for half the price of the other places said.. so I will recommend him to anybody. It is hard to find a honest mechanic and a good mechanic to.

Took my 2013 Honda Civic here because my car was jerking and Gary took it for a test drive and looked under the car and saw a cracked engine mount. He showed me exactly what happened and fixed the problem and now my car drives like a dream! I strongly recommend this place. Very honest people and family owned.

Very knowledgeable and friendly people. Figured out my problem and fixed it. Did not talk down to me and use terms I would not know. Did not try and sell me stuff I did not need. Will definitely be going back if anything else happens.

Amazing service by a group of honest guys. I blew a trailer wheel bearing on my way from VT to VA and these guys took care of me. They showed me how to get the bearing off so I could have them re-pack it and get it back over to the shop for a full fix. All this while every bay in the garage was filled with cars. I wouldn't have made it to VA without them. Thanks again!

I went in today because my mother's car had the low tire pressure on; My mother asked for me to bring her car to work and have someone look at it. I work in Paterson NJ and I asked my coworker to bring my mother's car to be looked at and fixed, but at the end of the day my coworker forgot and anxiety kicked it really bad. I gave them a call after work and they were still open! so I drove there and he asked if I knew which tire was low I told him "I think it's the back right tire" he then tells me off "Don't think" and proceeds to gauge all four tires and found that it was indeed the back right tire; he asked if I had anything to do because he had to take the tire off to inspect it, I told him that I had nothing immediate to do, he then proceeds to take to tire out and found that a nail was embedded in the tire so he brings it into the shop and took the nail out and patched up the tire, after he puts it back on he then asks if I knew how to turn the low pressure sign off, I told him I didn't so he politely shows me how to turn it off.I didn't mind that he charged me double than what I could of pay in Paterson but it was well worth it, I'm a women and going to any garage alone is an anxiety in itself but he made me feel comfortable and even taught and showed me how to gauge a tire if I were ever in a situation like this again so I can tell the mechanic which tire is low.Service: Tires

I went there with a problem of my mudflap running on my tires , despite being busy John looked into the issues and fixed it. I am planning to get my future service there .I liked their honesty and the details they explained the issues which comes from experience.

Shop took a car part out and replaced it with a old one causing a new problem. He then told me there was 3 different things wrong he guesses and had no idea what the problem is...he worked on my car one other time and said he fixed something which was still broken shady mechanic don't go here
