I ve been a customer of Nelson s for many years. He was referred to me by the salesperson at Toyota and it s been the best referral I ve ever received. I have an older Honda and a Toyota and Nelson always keeps them in top running shape. He explains which repairs need to be done and why. He never pressures his customers to do unnecessary work. He takes his time diagnosing his vehicles and goes out of his way to make sure his customers are completely satisfied with his work. On top of that, his prices are more than reasonable.Nelson is hard working, knowledgeable, and most of all honest (which is rare in this industry). He s the only mechanic I completely trust with my cars and my family s cars.If you re looking for a new mechanic, I highly recommend My Guy Nelson s Repair Shop. If you love or even just like your Toyota bring it to Nelson.Nelson is a rare find of an auto tech and small business owner.I'll say that again if you care about your Toyota bring it to Nelson. I am particular about who I let work on my vehicles. He truly, truly, cares about these Toyota vehicles, which some others may try to fake.Thankfully he was recommended by another Toyota owner in the area. Best referral I have ever gotten. Not only was the work immaculate and thorough. I enjoyed every step of working with him on getting my truck serviced. He did all the work to make it easy, clear, and informative to take my truck there.The cliche above and beyond is thrown around a lot but Nelson truly went above and beyond by checking everything I asked him to check as well as send me detailed photos and feedback in writing on everything.Having Nelson work on your car is possibly the easiest and most heartfelt recommendation's I have ever made.

Took our Volvo to Nelson for brakes and possibly rotors. He had the car back to us the next day and was completely honest about the condition of our brakes/rotors. we live in point pleasant but will absolutely be heading up to Nelson for all future work on our vehicles.

Nelson is hands down the best mechanic I ve ever had. I was recommended to him by another shop in town and was blown away by how knowledgeable, informative, and kind he is. Definitely goes above and beyond for his customers. Very easy to talk to and treats you like family. He was immediately able to fix an issue I had with my Lexus GX and got her running smoothly and at a very fair price. Walking away and not feeling like I got ripped off was worth every penny. I rarely write reviews but trust me on this - if you have an issue with your car, go see this man. You won t regret it. Thanks Nelson!! You have a life long customer! Keep up the great work!!

Simply said... AMAZING MECHANIC!!!Honest, efficient, and clean with his work.Can't say it enough... in a world where you don't know who to trust anymore, it's nice to tell people "I have a guy" you can not only recommend, but bring your car to that will explain, guide and tell you everything you need... THEN give you options as to what to actually do. Same day service was icing on the cake too. Nelson is the absolute best. I have known him and have been going to him for years. There is no one else I trust with my cars other than him. I have a 2003 truck and he keeps it going for me. Every time I get my truck back it drives like new if that's even possible for a '03. He is absolutely the best, most courteous and nicest car mechanic I have ever met. He is very hardworking, honest man. Hard to find people like him. I drive 45 min. one way to get my car fixed by him. I highly recommend him for all your auto needs. Nelson is now my guy. Effective communication between the mechanic, Nelson and myself, entirely unprompted and came standard. Nelson's transparency and commitment to resolving issues and keeping costs down show his dedication to providing excellent service, to which I have no doubt in his work and my vehicles lifetime.Three different mechanics passed on fixing my vehicle, with misdiagnosis to boot. I am a long term happy repeat customer of My Guy, Nelson's Auto Repair. After visiting the new location in Atlantic Highlands today and having yet another great experience, I was reminded that I am quite overdue in leaving a very well deserved positive review.Nelson, the shop owner/operator, is a true gem in the auto repair business! He has unmatched integrity and will never recommend a service that you don't need. He is a highly talented certified Toyota Master Auto Tech with versatile automotive skills/knowledge. Nelson can work on most car makes and models and it seems like no job is out of his league. He treats every customer with respect/kindness, regardless of their age, gender or vehicle knowledge, always clearly explaining what needs to be done and why. His prices are consistently very reasonable and I really appreciate that he only uses OEM quality parts that will last. Finally, the shop is neat and tidy and it's clear that Nelson takes great pride in both the quality of his work and providing excellent customer service.In my experience, finding a highly competent, honest mechanic with fair prices these days is like uncovering a real life unicorn. I live nearly an hour away in Millstone NJ, but am totally willing to drive the distance as he takes great care of my cars! Nelson is super busy now because his customers are incredibly loyal and some probably don't want him to get any busier ;-). However, if you make an appointment, you'll see it's truly worth the wait and 5 stars all the way!Service: Brakes

I did not end up doing business with him, but setting up an appointment he was very nice and very forthcoming about what he would need to do, parts he would need to purchase, price, etc. Can tell he's an honest mechanic. Will definitely come back in the future!

Nelson was so kind! He was approachable from the first moment. I share a name with his mother. We went in just before closing time with no appointment (although recommended!) but he still offered to take a quick look at our Lexus Es 330 and quickly identified the problem with barely a glance. He tweaked a few things as he conversed with us in a matter of minutes, with very obvious expertise and knowledge of Japanese made cars.

First, I had brakes and rotors changed by a repair station close to me in Edison, within a week I started feeling vibrations in the steering wheel and brakes whenever I used my brakes, I took my car back to them twice and the second time they told me I should get a second opinion because they cannot figure it out.Nelson was highly recommended by my brother who is taking his Sion to him for many years, I brought my Santa Fe Hyundai to Nelson, troubleshoot and fix my brakes. He not only diagnosed the issue. He explained to options first he can fix it easily same day or he could write up a report And I could try to bring it back to the garage that did the workAfter paying him for his well-deserved an honest service. I took my car back to the other repair station and after giving them the information that Nelson identified, they agreed to repair my rotors and brakes free of charge.Even though we live over 30 minutes away, Nelson will always be our mechanic from now on his professionalism and honesty is well worth the trip.

Nelson, is by far the most honest mechanic I ve ever met. Forget ever going back to the dealership, his labor is better quality and and a better rate, even though I should pay him more then the dealer, because he takes better care of my car. He is incredibly talented and meticulous in the field of being an auto technician. I ve followed this man from being 20 minutes away to being an hour away because he s the only person I trust to work on my car. I highly recommend.Service: Auto maintenance

I was referred to Nelson by a customer of mine a car dealer. I've called on new and used car dealerships for over 30 years in NJ, so i know plenty places to go to. Hands down Nelson is the best. Knowledgeable, professional, fair and honest. The funniest thing was that when i was getting my car fixed we were talking about the people we know in the dealer world and he pointed to a car and told me it was another dealer I do business with. I brought my truck here to have a headlight fixed. I took it to several mechanics who said they wouldn t touch it because of the type of headlight it was. I called My Guy Nelson s and right away he told me he could help, I took it in 2 days later and he had it all fixed for me within a few hours. He also reached out before he did any work to make sure he was doing exactly what I wanted without any surprises. Not only was he super friendly and helpful, but he was extremely fair when it came to price. I would definitely recommend!

I highly recommend My guy Nelson s auto repair shop on 1st ave in Atlantic Highlands. My car was leaking oil for over 2 years, had it serviced by serveral different shops but they couldn t detect the problem. Nelson quickly diagnosed the problem and had it running good as new without breaking the bank. He even followed up with me a few days later to check to up on the car. Nelson is the best mechanic around, and we refuse to use anyone else.Service: Engine repair

My Guy Nelson was so thorough and professional. He listened to what I wanted done to my car. Later after driving it and examining it, he texted me with what it would cost to do the maintenance that I wanted and also giving me suggestions of things that i could take care of at the time. He sent me pricing and also pics of the work he was going to do and needed to get done. He stayed late working on my car. He is honest and has integrity. He lives up to his business name because you always leave there feeling like he s your guy Nelson. He s honest, down to earth , and full of energy. It s always a pleasure to interact with him.We just moved here 3 years ago and he s been our mechanic since. We re so happy to have found him. I was stuck on rt 36 in atlantic highlands and had to get towed. Being that im not from this area I had to google auto repair shops close by. So I called Nelson up and he said to bring it to him and he'll figure it out and get me back home. He diagnosed, ordered parts, and fixed the problem in under 2 hours.I live about an hour away and will now drive to him for any fixes. Very nice guy and very reasonable pricing!
