Best experience ever. Needed work on our undermount generator on our van camper. Got confirmation that CJ could do the work. Sent model and serial number for generator. He showed up and promptly went to work. Was able to detach the generator and set it in the driveway. Did full diagnostics, went and found a suitable replacement fuel pump, cleaned the carburetor, replaced a line or two, flushed the fuel, started it up. Replaced it and reattached to the camper and it has started on a dime ever since. Humming away. Call me a happy camper. CJ is a masterful mechanic.

CJ is a very detailed, clean, thorough fast moving knowledgeable mechanic. I have a race engine on a 1978 Trans Am. I moved up here to New Jersey from Miami . three different mechanics did not know what they were doing. In Nj . He figured it out. Got my car back on the road.. he will be my mechanic moving forward here in New Jersey. He s a five star guy.

I would like to preface the review with the words WANT and NEED. I did not NEED a tune up, I WANTED a tune up. There was nothing wrong with my engine. I ve been driving my car for 2 years with no engine problems. However, I was unaware of when the tune up parts were installed and I was unaware of the quality of the parts installed. So, before something goes bad, I WANTED to get the parts replaced (all MSD, high performance parts).1. He arrived at my home, first words out of his mouth, you should look at rebuilding your carburetor. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE WITHOUT HIM HEARING THE ENGINE RUN.2. When you're on the clock (being charged by the hour), you don't do beautification work (spray paint the exterior of valve covers) unless you check with me first.3. He broke a value cover stud/s off (his words). I asked if he was drilling into the engine block, he stated no. He was drilling into to the head. Instead of removing the purported broken stud and replacing it, he drilled a big enough hole where he had to put in an insert to put a stud in. Head now has a larger hole, possibly making it easier to crack in that area.4. Value cover hold downs (4) are spring loaded, they are installed curve up, so when installed they flex down. He (the mechanic) beat the flex (flattened) out with a hammer.5. No company name on vehicle.6. I asked him to lower my high idle, He started turning a screw 4-6 times (idle is adjusted by using quarter turns, no full turns and waiting for the engine settle). I informed him, I don't think that is the right screw, his comment "you probably right", yet he continued to turn, then started turning another screw.7. I'd brought all needed items out in a box (plugs, wires, distributer, coil, value cover gaskets...), this item is listed because, he had no business going inside my car, first on the driver side, then on the passenger side. Yes, I had a part inside the car I'd planed on installing myself. There was no need what so ever to enter my car.8. When it came time to pay, I told him, I use PayPal. I was told to use PayPal s friends and family (red flag for me). The only problem here is, PayPal no longer allows for a description. So, at this point, I have nothing showing what work was done.8a. Update(28JAN24) I have nothing with the company name on it (beyond the garage mobile auto services) no email, nothing from PayPal, NOTHING to show they did work on my car.9. Upon completion, there was a connector left unplugged, (everything was connected before he started). This connector was left sticking up just in front of the carbonator (in plain sight).10. The following day, I called and spoke to his wife, and I stated how poorly my car was running. His wife proceeded to tell me, how she could send him back out, but there would be a new charge/s when he finds something new wrong. I explained to the wife, there was nothing wrong with the engine in the first place She attempted to get me to say, I had young people working on my car. There has been no work done on the engine (none was needed).11. For the record, I have no high idle, I have to hold my foot on the accelerator until the engine warms. The curb idle is too low and rough.12. (update: 8FEB24) You attached a connector (I watched you make it on the sidewalk) to my engine block, which had nothing to do with a tune up.13. He will never work on my car again. I had another 1.5K of work that I WANTED done (brakes, and a few other items).14. I cannot recommend this company.15. As more time passes, I will update this review.

This is Bianca Greenidge with an updated review with Beyond the Garage. As I stated before, the mechanic was nice. My experience with him from the time he looked at my Jeep until yesterday when he spent well over an hour with my vehicle has been nothing short of pleasant, informative, and fully understanding. He is someone that is personal and reasonable. I was prioritized and not put off. I was heard and not dismissed. I was valued and not devalued. I was respected and not cursed. He treats his customers, not as names on a list, but as people who are troubled with vehicular plights, with a level of care and patience that has reached the summit. It gives me solace knowing that there are still mechanics and people out here like him. He is in a league of his own and truly stands out and stands alone. He is a one man show. He os definitely the backbone to Beyond the Garage!

My Jeep kept turning off while driving until it would not turn back on. I was told by another mechanic that I needed a tune up but Beyond the Garage was a cheaper price so I scheduled with them for the tune up. When the mechanic saw my truck on Sunday he told me it needed a tune up and two other things so it costed more. He did the work and was paid. On Friday, I started to have the same issues. I called him and he said he would see what he could do. He was nice. His wife texted me and told me she could not schedule me into Monday. I told her that I commute to and from Salem county to work and I dropped off my daughter at daycare and she still needed to be picked up. She told me I was not scheduled and the earliest appointment is Monday and that I asked for a tune up and it ended up being more than that. It really does not matter if I got extra work done, it was not done for free. I was trying to explain to her that I got fixed what was told of me to get my car running and that I did not pay to get work done if my car was still going to have the same issue and that I am only asking her to fix the issue. I was told that I was interrupting her running her business albeit I am her business, that she cannot just stop what she is doing to get to me. If there is something wrong with completed work, that person should not be put at the back of the line. The problem should be rectified promptly, not a couple of days later. I was also told to stop mentioning how much I paid which I told her devalues that I paid her and that I was being immature for texting long messages when I was only trying to explain myself very clearly. In addition her messages were not short winded either. I have been to other mechanics and, when it was fixed and I still had the same issue, I was never told to wait two days for them to look at my car. I was also never told to stop speaking about how much I paid and was never called by any professional "immature" for being textually thorough. I hope this message is seen by the company so that the problem will be fixed and I can take down the post or write an updated review, which is better. I have never written a bad post about a business' practice and do not want this post to be my last review on the company.This is an updated review with Beyond the Garage. As I stated before, the mechanic was nice. What a professional! Our minivan died in the driveway. Roadside assistance jumped us and our battery died again. This is our only vehicle and has a wheelchair conversion to transport my husband, so we were nervous about where to go. We tried Beyond the Garage based on reviews. Cat was so sweet on the phone and got us squeezed in even though CJ had a busy week ahead. She called the night before to confirm our appointment. CJ called the next morning on time to let us know he was on the way. He took care of everything efficiently. He took time to shop around online for a great price on our battery. He even made sure I knew where my spare tire was located and how to inflate it in case I didn't know, which I didn't! Everything was well-documented and communicated via text and email. I paid via venmo and the whole thing was done very quickly. We are going to use him for our needs going forward. What an excellent service this is!!! You found the best auto service!CJ was amazing and super efficient. He was able to work with us to locate our car and fixed the issue in no time. He checked to make sure everything was ok entirely. He was extremely kind and courteous. We spent 4 hours trying to work with our insurance agent and 2 other service providers who were not helpful. CJ is your #1 guy! Highly recommend!

CJ was referred to us by a friend and let me tell you, I couldn t be happier!!! He is extremely knowledgeable about anything and everything dealing with cars. He changed my alternator and did my front and back brakes and rotors. He comes to my house so I don t need to wait in a waiting room. CJ is the truth. I came from out of town was staying in Atlantic City. I have a brand new 2021 Nissan Maxima. As soon as I pulled it out the parking garage it stalled. I called CJ the same day and he came to my rescue. He performed test to find out someone put something in my gas tank. He came back the next day and drained and fixed the issue. Needless to say I was able to leave AC and head back home, 3hrs away. Made it safely and my car still sounds brand new. I totally recommend his services.Service: Auto maintenance

Do not hesitate for one minute to call CJ. I have never given a review for an auto mechanic or shop in my life !! From the time you call him, he stays in contact with you. if you know what the problem is he will give you an estimate and a range of what it may be. It is very hard to find an honest mechanic, but he is !!! So, so glad his google ad & # came up , I was stuck with a car , that wasn't running, towed back to my house. He came to me, and replaced the alternator , possibly a new battery. Honesty told me I didn't need a new battery and he charged the one I had. I mentioned that I believe I may need brakes, he checked them and I do , and I WILL without a doubt be calling him to replace them. Even did a test drive and filled one of my tires that was low, and rotated them. Call him, you will not be sorry. It's a good feeling to know that I found a honest, good mechanic.
