After posting my review around 7 months ago the owner Steve began calling my husband almost daily and leaving messages that he wanted to speak to him. Neither one of us called him back as we had the car fixed elsewhere and wanted to move on. After the first few months of this Steve sent us a check for $317. After a few weeks, I decided to cash the check and just move on. But Steve continued calling my husband. So I finally called him back on Super Bowl Sunday and explained why I left the review. That it was my personal experience and opinion. I know other people have had wonderful experiences there and have very nice reviews. He wanted me to send him the receipts of the work I had done so he could see what they did to finally fix the problem. I did that and he still continued to call . I know he just wanted me to take the review down. Which I cannot do since there is no way for me to do this. It would ve been much easier if I could ve just removed the review and be done with it. Today I received another phone call and he told me he did not receive the receipt I sent him from Volkswagen. I don t know what happened because I did send it. He would not let me go even though I told him I m done and it is over. We don t need to talk about this anymore . So I finally hung up the phone. I know he has a large following and I m sure his business is doing very well. I want to thank him for reimbursing me $317 out of the over $800. I did spend that did not fix the problems. At this point I hope this new review will satisfy Steve and we can all move on from the experience. I want to wish him and Gibraltar the best of luck in the future.

"After three visits over six years, I rate Gibraltar a 1 out of 5. This was hard, I kind of liked and trusted Steve but each time the final bill far exceeded the quote without any added services, just an increase in cost to get the original job done. A $4,000 job cost $4,600; a $250 repair went to $375; and a $575 quoted service skyrocketed to $1,750. Another shop charged an additional $3,000, blaming Gibraltar's attempt at repairs to cause damage and subsequently premature failure. Yes attempt because the repair didn't work. This pattern persisted across three cars with different issues.This was what I experienced and as I said I trusted Steve and do not want to cry foul play but those are the facts of my experience, you will have to determine for yourself.

The owner is a great guy very nice with a great sense of humor I needed a new transmission and it was order installed and I was back on the road they did a awesome job and prices are great but most importantly they are honest on what needs to be done and he works with you if finances are not all the way there

I see that this place has such a great high rating and yet on their website they claim to get in concert with them to get a quote so I sent them an email just with a simple question 4 days ago and they have yet to reply to me you can't be that busy not to check your email especially if you're a place of business

This place has been around for a while for a reason. Luckily, I haven't had to visit the shop often but when I do they are reliable and fair. Steve is like the unicorn of mechanics plus he likes dogs. What more can you ask for.

The only mechanic you will ever need! Honest & fair pricing. Also repaired everything very quickly. What a relief to find this place! You will be in good hands if you decide to use them.

I had my brakes done there. Another place said I needed rotors too. Steve said I did not. Five months later the brake pads were bad due to the rusty old worn out rotors. After spending almost $300 I now am spending an additional $900 to do it all over and correctly. Also my car kept shutting off they said they fixed it for sure by their best mechanic and after spending $200+ I was towed again to their shop. They said they fixed it again they were confident they got it this time. They charged for diagnostics again this time $300+. A week later I broke down again took it to VW and they fixed it right for $1000. If you want to keep paying to have if fixed wrongly or not at all then have to take it somewhere else to be fixed correctly then bring your car to Steve. If you want it fixed correctly the first time take it somewhere else to begin with. The only reason I gave it one star is I had to in order to write a review.

My car broke down on the highway while I was driving back to Maine. It was right before they closed, but I was able to talk to them and they got to my car first thing in the morning and got me back on the road in a few hours.

After having so many negative experiences with previous mechanics, Steve and his crew really restored my faith in this field. They were honest, polite, helpful and fast. My check engine light came on and they were able to find that a rodent had made a nest and chewed through a wire (they sent me a photo of the nest and I laughed) and within a couple days were also able to fix parts of my suspension and transmission where previous big name shops have failed. Car runs amazing. I express my gratitude for these guys.Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension replacement

Just got my transmission fixed from this place 8 months ago. They are Very Professional, extremely nice and overall great service. Way to happy for the quality of work they did to my car. The experienced with Gilbratar was excellent Highly recommended!Prices are Moderate, but warranties are longer. Tried to get my trans fixed by other shops, they charged more with no guarantee if the car will work. Gibraltar explained to me the many options and we both came into an agreement on how to go with the car. It has been 8 months and haven t had a problem with my Nissan Sentra 2012.I recently gotten hit while the car was parked at my own home. I will reach out to Gibraltar again. To see what are my options for my car. As of right now, the car is undrivable but since he has history with my car and his team checked my car multiple times the first time. I am pretty sure and certain they be able to fix my car again.Gibraltar is a very honest guy and I wouldn t be coming to him again. I am thankful that he fixed my car the first time when the transmission was failing and I hope this time my car can be fix again.

I went to this repair shop to get new breaks for my car. After detailed inspection I was told that there is no need to change the breaks at this time as they will still be good for some time.Also my AC was not cooling and I was advised to go to the dealer as that defect is covered under the warranty and that was true. Saved me $700Great honest people Thank you so much. I will use this service for sure for my car.

Small repair shop off of cranberry road in East Brunswick with a small group of very knowledgeable mechanics I personally dealt with a mechanic by the name of Clinton he was extremely knowledgeable fully certified and trained in all phases of mechanic work aside from that just an overall knowledgeable person made my automotive repair seamless I also explain to him my lack of funds and they were willing to work with me which made my repair feasible I would recommend this shop to anybody in the area looking to have something done

Didn't want to keep taking my Honda fit with 170k miles to the dealer so decided to try and fix my check engine light myself with the help of YouTube. Failed miserably by breaking a bolt in a hard to reach location.Googled and found Gibraltar who had great reviews and gave them a call. Steve got me in pretty quick considering they were super busy and kept me updated with what they were doing. Prices were reasonable and they don't pressure you to do anything more than what was needed. 2 weeks later car passed inspection and working like it did back when it was almost new. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Today my mom and I were driving home to Massachusetts from Maryland and when we were about two and a half hours in we ran into some major issues with our car. Luckily we were able to get off at the service plaza but we were stranded. We don't know anyone in the area and we were right between our family in Maryland and our family in Massachusetts. My uncle we had been visiting with made some calls and someone put him in touch with Steve. Thank god they did because he was a complete and utter life saver. He called multiple times to make sure we were okay and walk me through every step I needed to take in order to get back on the road today. He helped us deal with the turnpike people and a nasty tow truck driver and made sure we got to his shop safely and for the best price. He accommodated us throughout the day and gave us some places we could go walk around. He managed to get our truck in today in less than four hours even with a packed schedule because he knew we were really in a pinch. He was the kindest man and our biggest blessing today and he did it all with a smile on his face and an amazing sense of humor. His workers were all polite, especially Cece who chatted with us and made us feel more than welcome and was a huge help throughout the day. They managed to get our car fixed and did a total safety check and we were back on the road in just a few short hours. I truly can not say enough great things about this place and their workers, and even customer we saw come in today had nothing but nice things to say as well. My car was making a noise when accelerating, so I took the car to get checked out. Steve is such an honest and respectful owner/mechanic. He even called me hours later to explain the issue (in a way I can understand in such a respectful way- I've never had this kind of experience somewhere else-), and he gave the best explanation/ honest quote. I would recommend this place to my family & friends, knowing that they provide the best service & quote that's not comparable elsewhere. Best customer service & quality! Steve is old school. Remember back in the day when you used to be able to trust people who came to your rescue. That's Steve. Dropped by one day to ask if he could test drive my car. The transmission was rebuilt by a big name company and it was failing for the second time. He dropped everything to help me. A test drive and a lift, and he let me listen for myself the failing transmission through the scope. I left with proof that it was the transmission to take to the other guy that not only took a lot of my money but also my trust in people. Steve is the real deal - a person rare in this world today. Back in August 2022 I began to experience a hesitation/lurching during acceleration. I have a 2012 Mazda 6. The condition would present itself along with a flashing drive light "D" on dash. I took my car to three mechanics who did various things and changed some sensors etc which did not solve the problem but did cost me a good amount of money. Transmission flush, cleaning of throttle body, MAF, MAP,EGR replacement, O2, all kinds of filters etc. - NONE WORKED and the costs added up!I then searched and read reviews and found Gibraltar/Steven right before the new years. I finally got the car to Steven's shop and what impressed me the most is Steven's attitude towards fixing the issues. He loves to solve the difficult problems! His mechanics are top notch and I have not seen better diagnostics work done anywhere else! Do yourself a favor and save money - go to Gibraltar. Steve had to be one of the most honest and patient man I have ever met! He worked with me along the way with my car at his shop, he did everything possible to make sure my car was fix, he would call me to informed me about everything that s going on! The owner Steven was extremely helpful the entire time. I dropped off my car because the check engine light was on and the car was stalling out. After diagnosing the issue, he had my car back the same day and was extremely fair with his price. This is my third time needing to use them over the years and every time they fixed my car it was the correct diagnosis without ever overcharging. I have had two cars for repairs in the past. Steve has a very honest and reliable business and he tells you up front the truth about your vehicle and what is needed and not the BS the dealer service center tries to sell you. It is hard to find an honorable and truthful mechanic, but Steve and his team are honest and truthful and breath of fresh air. Work is always first class. Highly recommend. Eddie Keramas

Steve and his team are wonderful. He was so professional and so kind. I needed a headlight replaced and it was about an hr before they closed. He insisted that it would be dangerous to drive with out headlights and had me come in even though I was worried about being late. When I got there they got me in rigth away and I was done within 15min. I highly recommend this shop for any car related issues!

Steve and his team are amazing. My niece and her mother broke down on a road trip home from MD to MA with a brake problem in the NJ turnpike. Steve immediately went into action and got them to his shop, fixed the brakes and had them back on the road within the the workday. My check engine light came on and the code came up as a transmission issue. Gibraltar went above and beyond to try and figure out what was wrong with my car. They took their time and did a thorough assessment of the issues. The owner personally drove my car to make sure after repairs to make sure everything was OK. The issue actually went beyond the transmission and I am thankful I found Gibraltar. Reasonable price, family friendly business. My new go-to place for car repairs!

Taking my car to get serviced at a dealership or other auto body shop used to be something that I would put off for as long as I could because I truly despised interacting with almost all mechanics/service people. Majority of the time I'd be spoken down to or taken advantage of for not being able to understand my car's problems.I came across Gibraltar who had amazing reviews and decided to try them out for an oil change. I was not disappointed in the least bit. I called ahead to make sure they had availability for me that day and they were able to accommodate me. Everyone I encountered was exceptionally friendly and professional. Of course, other problems came up during the oil change. But they went out of their way to fully explain what the issues were - going so far as to take me to my car that was on the lift to show me. And the price for it all was very affordable.Overall, super pleased I found them. I had a rather complicated transmission problem. The complication came from dealing with an extended warranty company. Gibraltar not just changed my transmission professionally but they also worked diligently with the warranty company which added a lot of extra work on to them. If it wasn't for CC, Steve and their technicians, I may still don't have my transmission replaced. They go above and beyond. You can trust them with any job, small or large they will take care of you like you are family. Friendly, knowledgeable people who are in business to serve you the best they can.Service: Transmission

Look no further if you are searching for a terrific mechanic! Gibraltar Auto Repair in East Brunswick provides outstanding service in an honest and ethical manner! Steven and his team are professional mechanics, determined to properly repair cars and trucks in a timely manner at a very reasonable cost! I own a small service company, and it is important to maintain and keep our trucks on the road. I highly recommend this place! Guys here are honest and kind! We brought a car from a stranger, Gibraltar helped us did a general check and told us the conditional is bad then we retuned the car. The car is not safe these guys save our life! They don t charge anything after the check and they even don t want to take too much tip! OH MY GOD!!! I d like to come here in the rest of my life.

It's been a long time coming that I write this review. This is the BEST mechanic shop in the area. HANDS DOWN. I trust them 100% with my cars. I've never had such honest, down to earth, funny, and willing to go the extra mile to help their customers. They are truly amazing. I suggest this mechanic shop to everyone I know in the area.Though the suggestions might mean fewer open spots for me to take my car in, I'll take it if it means other people can experience the amazing service I do everytime I take my car in.
