We came here in January for our anniversary. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is perfection for the mall, the beach, coffee. Our room was so cozy. We stayed in a room with a kitchen and living room. The furniture was comfortable and the bedding was lovely.

Very charming, quaint accommodations. Within proximity to all the Cape May amenities, including the Washington Street mall, the beach, Congress Hall facilities. Had an early check-in, concierge was very accommodating in finding us an open room, and having the maintenance staff set up a second bed.Rooms: Functions like an efficiency apartment; pull out bed in the living room; king size bed, at least in the room we stayed at. Rooms had microwave, sink, stove, coffee making apparatus. Private patio outback.Nearby activities: Beaches within walking distance, several hundred feet, Washington St., Mall is within a couple hundred feet walk.Safety: Very safe location.Walkability: Beach is a couple hundred foot walk, Washington Street mall is a couple hundred feet walk. Congress Hall, the parent institution is across the street with all its amenities.

Rooms were a little smaller than I expected, especially the bathroom. But all rooms do have private bath but there is no room for a fridge (at least in our room). Excellent location being close to the beach and Washington Mall shopping area. Speaking to a concierge provided excellent service. But concierge via text still needs some work. In some cases, it took more than 12 hours to get a response so it was always better to call or visit in person. Lastly, even though the rooms were small, I noticed very little noise so that is a major plus!Nearby activities: Short distance to the beach and you get to enjoy all the amenities of Congress Hall.

A very nice hotel. We stayed in the in which is both trendy and reminiscent. The room was a little and I wish there was a normal chair for sitting, but had large closet space and a very nice bathroom. 5-Stars for the bath products from the local Beach Plum Farm with great scents of rosemary mint and lemon. The hotel is about a block from the ocean and you can see it from the room. The room faced South so you get great sunlight all day.

Best location excellent staff. This hotel is literally a block from beach next door to cute little mall that leads to Washington Mall and accross the street from Congress hall. The room 100% has character. Very clean and comfy bed. You literally feel like you have the place all to yourself. Sitting on front porch taking in the breeze and sites on a neat road. Lightning storm from porch looking out to sea was awesome! You also get access to Congress Hall Grounds and pool. Pool is excellent. The management team is super engaged with new members Max and Conner just super great guys. Very attentive and helpful. Mike and team have been a pleasure to meet. The way he interacts with his team is amazing. Very professional and kind. We are so happy with hotel we extended. Mike was great in helping us. This hotel is a true Star in my book. Accross the street is a very friendly bike shop and prices are great. I mean great! rent bike your entire stay and lock behing main building. We loved it. We have stayed at many great hotels. Location and easy to everything is unmatched. Room service great everyone we encountered has been super friendly. Thank you Mike and team for excellent week.

This is one of a few properties owned by Cape Resorts, but this specific location was perfect for a quick getaway to Cape May. It's a block to the beach and a block to Washington St Mall. There are delicious food options all within 1-2 blocks. Parking is included and if there aren't enough spots, you can park at Congress Hall, the sister hotel, next door as long as you have your parking tag displayed. The room was clean and cute and maintenance was quick to fix a window issue that we had (it wouldn't close). I highly recommend this place!

My friend and I stayed at a beautiful room at The Inn with a view of the ocean. Our room was clean and comfortable for the two of us. The Star offers affordable rates with attractive, updated rooms and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. During your stay, there are several convenient ways to get in touch if you need help, whether it be in-person or via text. The check-in and checkout process is quick and easy. I've already booked another few days here at the end of November!

My boyfriend and I had a great experience staying at the Star Inn. It is the perfect place for a couple's getaway. The room we had was smaller than expected but a good size for 2. The front desk was informative and was easy to reach via text (I believe they were only open from 9-5 pm.) *FYI, Congress Hall is closed until March. The room was very clean when we arrived. The lobby area was adorable and had a coffee shop by the front desk area. I would definitely recommend for a getaway!

My wife and I stayed at The Star Inn for a weekend trip and it was a great choice. The inn is at a great location within walking distance of the beach, boardwalk, and many stores and restaurants. In addition, we had access to all of the amenities at Congress Hall, which included complementary beach access, lounge chairs, towels and umbrellas. The rooms were renovated and comfortable. Plus the staff at Congress Hall/The Star Inn were great. They had found my ring that I had lost in the room and were able to mail it back to me a few days later. If there is any downside to The Star Inn would be the size of the rooms, although it was not an issue for my wife and I, it may not be the best fit for families who are looking to share a room. I would definitely recommend staying here on your Cape May visit.

3rd floor walkup. Hotel is across the street from the delivery location for congress hall. Lots of trucks and noise. Hotel staff didn't respond to my text.Rooms: Decorated with antiques. Nice size room with a partial ocean view.Noteworthy details: Bathroom had a sloped ceiling which limited use at the sink and shower. Didn't know this when I booked the room.

After planning our holiday vacation for months, and picking an above average cost for a room that was unsatisfactory. Reporting the people s noise from 7am until all hours of the night and nothing done of the situation. Congress Hall also allowed a work station to be setup right in front of our balcony that we over paid for and could not use, because of all the noise. After complaining the work station was finally moved. No streaming devices in the rooms, outdated kitchen and furniture. Unfortunately after many stays through the years at the Star Inn and Congress Hall, we will not be staying again for a room and costs so high and poorly attended to. We still have not had a return call about the situation when being advised we would be contacted. Very unfortunate waste of money and vacation time off work.

My husband and I had THE most wonderful experience staying at the STAR inn. It is a cozy, comfortable and charming place to stay while exploring Cape May. 1 min from the beach and right near the town center filled with quaint shops and great local restaurants. If you are looking for a more grand experience, STAR inn has a sister property nearby - Congress Hall which is a beautiful and upscale property. You can enjoy their amenities such as their restaurants or a cocktail at the Verandah bar. We wish we could stay longer, but we definitely will be coming back!

I don't know why they call it a "motel".The room we stayed in was a 2 bedroom suite with a bench swing and a couple of matching rocking chairs all in a nice porch, so you can stop and watch the people in the small town with the water as a backdrop. The rooms were very clean with a quaint mostly white with few blue touches, beach theme. The beds were incredibly soft and kitchen and living area were comfortable too.The kitchen had a few necessities if pans and serveware already stocked. We had wine glasses but they didn't have cocktail glasses so asked about it and they brought them right to us.It was one of the best hotel stays I've ever had!

First, I want to talk about the positives. We had a great time! We ve been going to Cape May for years and this time around we wanted to celebrate our 10th wedding Anniversary. So we decided to splurge and get the Suite at the Star Inn. Room 20 overlooked Congress Hall and you could see and hear the ocean. So the location was fantastic. Access to the beach and the attendants there were great and the beach chairs were very comfortable. However, for the price we paid we were surprised by a number of things. The place looks tired. Chipped paint, rotting wood on the balcony. Inside, the bed and furniture were comfortable but the kitchenette faucet sink handle fell off and the towel rack in the bathroom fell off as well. Plus the dcor needs some TLC. Also, when we arrived nobody told us that you had to make a reservation to go to the Brown Room. When we finally got a reservation the next day, the service was lacking big time. My wife and I love high end cocktails and talking to bartenders. Which means if we got served and the bartender had some personality we would have stayed longer and dropped a lot of money. But we had one drink and left. When we experienced the pool at Congress Hall we were very disappointed. The adult pool was disgusting so we didn t even use it. And it was 90 degrees out that day. The pool boy the day before said we weren t even allowed to use it. The next day it smelled and looked like it hadn t been cleaned in days. The lounge chairs are practically broken and very uncomfortable. Some advice teak is out and trek is in. Plus the pool/wait service was terrible. Nobody came over to us to ask if we wanted anything. We had to go get our own drinks and get our own food menu. Wait staff had no idea who ordered what and where anyone was. With today s technology why not have a scanned menu that you can check and order on your phone. Then have little numbered flags on the lounge chairs or on the umbrellas to know where people are at. There was no efficiency. It s a simple formula, my wife and I like cocktails, like I said before and sitting by the pool all day. If someone came over and asked and served us then we would stay longer and order more drinks and food which would make you more money. Plus if the chairs were more comfortable we would stay longer as well, which means we would spend more money. The pool music was also going in and out like it was being played from a Discman on a treadmill. Play something beachy, or fun. Not top 20 from the late 90 s. Needless to say we would still return again as we did have a great time and love the location. Just hope they can be more proactive in the service arena and less reactive.

We ve been visiting Cape May for almost 15 years now and one of our favorite holiday traditions is staying at The Star Inn around Christmas time. This hotel and Congress Hall are decorated so nicely around the holiday season that you can t help but to get in the spirit. We love staying at The Star Inn because it feels luxurious without being stuffy. It can be very expensive throughout the year so we pick off weekends to come up and enjoy the town. You will not be disappointed with your stay.

Your experience really depends on what room you receive. I booked through a third party for $115/ night. We stayed in room 02 in the Inn itself. The room is comically small, definitely would not want to be here for more than a weekend. Check-in is located access the street at Congress Hall, which is not exactly ideal. Bed was a bit on the hard side, and barely fit in the room. Toilet is cramped next to the shower, there is no tub. No mini-fridge or mini-bar. You're paying for the easy access to the Washington St. Mall and you are a block from the beach. We could see the ocean from both windows, which was certainly a plus.

Stayed in the Carriage Suite. A most wonderful one evening stay. Keeping in mind that the lodging is a renovation of an old structure, the accommodations were first class with the refinements of the room making this a first class stay. the room was neat, clean and classic with a flair of modern appliances and ceiling fans. Bed linen was simply amazing and mos comfortable. Baath rooms were very clean and well maintained..best shower I ever experienced. The check in staff were most helpful as we were met with smiles and most courteous service. Would definitely stay here again......

Staying here for our anniversary and I must say I am very disappointed. The hotel room is old and my view from our room was the parking lot. We sat outside to stare at an old van. We paid over 500 a night which is ludicrous for this old fashioned room. There was no parking so we had to park across the street and carry our luggage all the way to the hotel while congress hall guests had valet service and bell hops. The bathroom was old and a little dirty with soap scum residue left from previous guests. The shades were jagged down the side and dirty as was the light switches. Very over priced.

The suites are perfectly convenient for anyone. But in particular having a family and all the joys are made so much more convenient and relaxing due to the small kitchenette offered , the excellent customer service (from text msg for making reservations, to beach side , to pool side services) this is as close to vacationing with littles ones gets when it comes to relaxing. Not to mention nearness to all things Cape May has to offer is walking distance. Cape ResortsHas customer service down to a science. And their shops are amazing. My girls will think of Congress Hall / Cape Resorts as a home away from home , for the summer, we will frequent like we have always since they were born for years to come.

It's been a while, but I really liked this place. Room 6 was the best. Open all the windows and let that ocean air in. You'll love how quiet this place is, even though it's a short walk from the beach and downtown.

The Star is part of the Cape Resorts empire - so if you arrive on a week day you can check in at the main desk of Congress Hall. They have different sized rooms. Ours was quite small and cozy - on the 3rd floor of the main building there (The Star is really two buildings). Everything is as it should be - clean and pretty. House keeping checks on you twice a day - once in the morning, and then once in the late afternoon in case towels need replacing and beds need straightening.
