We were heading home from vacation when our car started to overheat. After letting it cool down, we searched for the closest garage to hopefully get some oil. We made it to S & E Auto Repair. The owner came out and checked the car. The oil was low but he noticed the coolant was extremely low as well. He helped us out and got us home with no trouble. Great service, forever grateful. I would highly recommend.

We were recently on vacation in Cape May and started having transmission trouble. We took our car to a nearby garage and they hooked it to the computer diagnostics and it was confirmed it was a transmission issue but they stated they did not have time to repair it and to check around with other garages. We did book an appointment the next day at another repair shop but then made a call to S&E Auto Repair and I am so glad we did! When we told Scott about the issue we were having he immediately knew what the problem was and even offered to do some investigating on his end to confirm (a nationwide recall.) Scott took a chunk of time out of his very busy day to assist us when he was not even going to make a dime on us, since it was a recall issue. He confirmed the information and advised us what our next steps should be. If it wasn t for Scott we could have faced a very hefty repair bill at the other garage. We ended up having the car towed several hundred miles back home to the dealership for the covered repairs. We can not even begin thank Scott enough for his kindness, his help and his honesty!

(Posted for my mom and Aunt)S & E Auto Repair was fantastic, caring and helpful! We were vacationing near Cape May, NJ. My car was packed and we were ready to head home. Turning the car around, I accidently backed into a tree and dented my right rear fender. Once on the road, I realized it wasn't safe to drive the 100+ miles home, because something was rubbing my tire. I saw a sign for S & E Auto Repair and pulled in. The owner explained right away he was a mechanic and did not do body part repair. Realizing how upset I was and we didn't know where to go for help, he was compassionate. He stopped what he was doing, looked at the car and made temporary repairs, so we could safely drive home. The owner sent us on our way and refused to take anything for his help. We are most grateful for his kindness and generous help.

I had some concerns about my truck when visiting town for a week. Scott took care of me same day. It is very clear that this place is honest and fair traits you don t find too often at car shops these days. I personally watched Scott take care of another customer, explain and demonstrate exactly the issue and solution. He treated me with the same degree of kindness and aptitude. If you ever get car trouble while visiting Cape May, go see Scott at S&E Auto Repair. He's going to level with you and do the job right. I had steering wheel issue and what looked like a steering rack job at over 1400$ turned out to be two loose bolts. Anyone could have make easy money with this but Scott was honest and reliable. I am grateful for his services. Thanks Scott.

Don t let his outwardly tough exterior fool you. I came from NYC to Cape May for the first time and urgently needed to replace a transmission hose. Sam was quick to identify the issue and solve without making me wait. He is one of most generous and kind people I ve come across in a long time. I would highly recommend coming to see Sam to fix any issue as he has tons of experience and you won t be disappointed.

Sam was very good blessing. I was on vacation with my kids and my car broke down. I called around shops and everyone told me no. He told me to come in and saw that my wheel was loose. On top of him finding what was wrong, he check my truck all the way around to make sure I could get home with safety with kids. I suggest anyone to come here. You will never go wrong. Our 2012 Honda odyssey started backfiring a little and not taking gas the normal way .Scott, the owner took our car even though he had many cars to fix because we were in Cape May far from our home. He was able to diagnose the problem for us, and because he was not in a position to fix it because it needs a new engine he would not charge us because we were now stranded without a car to get home I don t think you could find a more qualified mechanic to work on your car or a more honest mechanic plus a man with a big heart then Scott.Service: General repairs & maintenance

One week into my vacation, I heard a metal on metal scraping sound coming from my rear brakes. My car knowledge is limited, but Scottie not only explained to me what was wrong, he took me under the vehicle and had me feel how the backing plate was rubbing against my rotors. Scottie is patient, knowledgeable, and experienced. We needed to get our Ford Explorer looked at for a rather annoying loud squeaking while on vacation. Since I m 7 months pregnant and we have our almost 4 year old with us, we decided not to wait and to get it looked at before driving 5 hours back home to PA. I called around without luck, until calling S&E. The owner was absolutely amazing, told me to come in right away and he would check it out. He took my tire off, checked everything out and cleaned it up and ensured us we were safe to drive home. He was very friendly and sweet to our little boy also. If all business owners ran the way he runs his, the world would be a better place.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I had just arrived at one of the local camp sites with a friend, ready to enjoy a weekend at the ocean, when my 2008 Kia Sorrento started making a concerning squeaky rubbing type noise. Being that I was 4 hours from home, I was so anxious that I was going to become stranded in the road with a major car problem. I was referred by the campsite to Scott/S & E Auto Repair. It was a Sunday, figuring no mechanics would be open on Labor Day weekend, we decided to just leave the car at the campsite, try to forget our worries and bike to the ocean until we could reach Scott on Tuesday. Coincidently, on our way to the beach via the bike path, we came across S & E Auto Repair/Scott s business. Scott was there working on a buddy s car, normally he would be closed. He stopped what he was doing, heard my description of the issue and asked if we could come back with the car to test drive it and possibly put it up to further investigate. We returned, he test drove and immediately assured me the noise didn t appear to be anything that was a safety concern. He d like to put it up though to look a little more closely. He encouraged us to enjoy the rest of our day and he will call me with his findings. To make a long story shorter, he blew out any debris from the brakes made some other adjustments and didn t find anything majorly wrong with brakes, transmission , and assured me I would be able to drive it safely during my stay and even get home safe. He did tell me that the drive shaft might be a concern eventually and other normal wear and tear maintenance but I could use it to get around town and local trips expecting to get another 50k miles out of a vehicle that already had 140K miles. In addition, he patiently answered my questions that will help me determine whether to hold onto the vehicle or let it go. He was so transparent , competent, empathetic, professional, warm and reassuring of our safety. He refused to accept any payment for his time, not even lunch. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. It s a gift to come across such a wonderful human being. ( *Lend an ear to Bill, an ole timer, with his lil dog Sassy. They sit outside the garage greeting customers and sharing wonderful stories) Someone should write a book/ story / series on this lil garage and it s characters. What a hidden gem. Thank you Scott! We made it home with no issue. You were a God send - easing my car anxiety and allowing me to enjoy my weekend.

So thankful for S & E auto repair! I was just visiting for the weekend when my check engine light came on. S& E auto repair was recommended to me - and for good reason! I had checked to see what the issue was at the local autozone and it showed the mass air flow system sensor was malfunctioning. I was so worried! Very few auto repair shops were open, and all of them were totally full. Even though they were busy, Sam at S & E took the time to check out the issue and solved it in less than 5 minutes! Now I can make my long drive home without concern. Would definitely recommend S & E to anyone! Great service, super nice staff, so caring, and fixed at no charge! Who could ask for more?

Scotty was supper helpful in finding out the problem with my truck! He spent several hours of his time without charging me anything to help identify the problem. I highly recommend S & E for locals or anyone in from out of town.

A rare breed for sure. Honest and trustworthy are words not spoken too often when it comes to mechanics. First day on vacation..He helped me out with diagnostics for a check engine transmission light. Took time out of his day and did not charge me. Do not hesitate to use him.. Highly recommended!

On vacation from NC and sure enough the dash of our car lit up. There was only one place to turn to, S & E. 2 yrs ago my parents car had an issue while on vacation and we asked a local where to go and he was right. Very polite, kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Scott was an absolute gentleman today. I had the good luck of getting a flat tire right in front of his repair shop and he insisted on changing it for me and would not take any money! It's always refreshing to meet kind people that do the right thing because it's the right thing to do! By reading over his reviews it looks like he is an amazing mechanic as well as a super nice guy! I will be recommending S&E to everyone I know.

AMAZING!! We had an issue midway through our vacation in Cape May. My wife, daughter, and mother in law took my car to the diner and after they went in and picked up our breakfast, came back to the car - turned the key and: a single CLICK - No start. Scott bailed me out in a pinch - squeezed me in - gave me exceptionally good service and very fair pricing - and had my family and I back on the road and Safe in no time. An excellent automotive technician and also doubles as therapist helping keep us calm in a time of turmoil. Scotty deserves 10 Stars. Thank you we appreciate you.

I called on a Saturday with a screw in my tire issue. Scott fit me in within a 1/2 hour of my call. When I arrived, Scott was prepared and ready to fix the issue. Scott looked at the tire and luckily no major repair was needed.Scott was friendly, professional and fast! I now have found a repair shop and mechanic I would highly recommend to everyone. This auto garage owner Scotty was phenomenal. What a giving, generous and kind man who went the second, third, and fourth mile with my auto emergency. When I traveled to Cape May from Ohio and needed emergency car service, he not only fixed my car in a timely manner, he checked it from front to back to make sure my wife and I would get back home safely. Met Scott today after I was told by a different shop I d be lucky to find any other place to fix my car . Scott saved the day! He was super nice, grabbed me a seat to sit in while he worked on my car, and it was fixed in an hour. Great price, great conversation, and quick service. Would definitely go back again.

While coming to our camp site on Rt. 9, the weekend of the 4rth of Oct. Our car started to smoke, within minutes we where overheating at 9:30 in the evening. After we stopped and inspected for our selves we saw that some where in the engine compartment we either blew a hose or worst case blew the engine.After nursing our car back to the camp site, we figured we would address the issue in the morning.Next day we started a search for a service shop, and a means to get home to Philly.For starters we found that most auto service shops within a ten mile radius were closed.Still looking we came across S & E Seashore Auto Repair, 663 Seashore Road In Erma right off RT. 9.We stopped in on our bikes to see what if anything could be done in such a short time frame, leaving the next day, Sunday.We met the owner Scott, who is also the hands on mechanic. After a ten minute conversation he asked to bring it by to see what he could do. To shorten this story, Scott was a true professional in all aspects of the business. Very nice man indeed, he did what was needed to fix the car at a very reasonable price. He was trustworthy, polite and very knowledgeable. For in the auto repair business as I m sure people know that is a rare commodity.I m giving five stars because of the great experience we had at his shop. I would recommend with full trust that if you need a great mechanic, he is honest as the day is long.Thanks Scott we appreciate everything you did for us.

Came into some car trouble with a busted radiator on my way to vacation. Scott from S&E was helpful beyond my expectations. He was able to get the necessary parts and do the repair in one day and his price was very reasonable. All others shops had told us they couldn t do the job for several days. Just the best interaction I ve ever had when having a car repaired. Scott gave me an honest assessment of the trouble, did the work requested and addressed some additional issues (but only after having me come by to approve the extra work), and still came in under his original estimate. All of the repairs exceeded expectations and was done quickly. Only after having me test drive the vehicle and confirm I was happy did he hand me a bill! I can t recommend his shop more highly!
