We loved it here! The rooms were beautiful and looked out at the courtyard/pool but the ocean was visible if looking to your left. The rooms were spacious and clean. All of the amenities were wonderful. It is a k cup coffee pot- small but doable. Microwave and spacious fridge. The showers were lovely but again, a little small. The balcony was perfect. My daughter swam in the pool during the tropical storm and loved it, as the pool is heated. They had some fun yard games as well, such as shuffle board. It was centrally located and most everything could be walked to. The beach access was directly across the road which is pretty fantastic. The staff was so lovely, especially Kathy. They made sure our every need was met.The only slightly negative thing I had about it was the live music all day.Other than that, it was just a nice, perfect, nostalgic, east coast type of vacation hotel.

This is one of our favorite places! The staff is great and the woman at check in was super friendly and kind! Plus.... It's CLEAN!! The rooms are no frills but there's so much to do, we spent very little time in the room. The beds were comfy, the carpets clean and the bathrooms were well cared for. The pool was great as well as the outdoor lounge area. We can't wait to stay again!

The most under looked hidden gem!!The front of house staff..amazing. just like being with an old friend. They are so happy, helpful, patient, informative, resourceful, etc. The list goes on. And the back of house staff is amazing. This is the place to take a little getaway and feel like you're family.

The rooms, bathroom, and double bed are very small, it s not updated in many years, we weren t given enough towels or pillows for a party of 4 adults (had to ask), and the sleeper sofa was creaky and very uncomfortable with a thin mattress. No chairs at fire pit was a disappointment. Plus side it was clean, front desk personnel very nice, location is great and live music on Saturday was great. Not worth the high price because of the rooms!Rooms: Too small and crowded as well as quite outdated - beds not very comfortable. Didn t like the old fashioned metal keys either / a pain to keep track of and use.

Pros: Hotel was clean, pool heated, directly across from beach.Cons: Some type of family/friends reunion occurred during our stay. This group of what appeared to white trash had many rooms occupied all around the outdoor recreation area. They were drinking, smoking, doing drugs, loud music, cursing and being very inconsiderate of children and families staying there too. I thought the manager on duty was going to rectify the situation until she sat down with them and started looking at pictures of their phone and chatting! She obviously knew them or was related to them and basically enabled their behavior to continue. A real shame as it s an otherwise nice, affordable hotel on the Cape May beach. We couldn t even use our balcony, open the sliding doors, or enjoy pool with our children while they were out there which was most of the day and night. Hopefully the owners will reevaluate their staffing choices to avoid a recurrence of such shameful and deplorable behavior.Suggest the hotel also not allow smoking on the property as well to improve the family vacation experience.

Clean hotel with friendly service and excellent location. I only gave the room 4 stars since it is no frills but we were fine with that and it's what we expected. It was very family friendly with a kiddie pool as well as lawn area with tables, chairs and lawn games. We got a balcony facing the ocean which is right across the main drag where the hotel sits. Quiet location while conveniently situated close to town.Walkability: Right across the main road to the beach. A 10 minute walk to other areas of the boardwalk with food and drink. 15 to 20 minute walk to Washington Mall. (Note, we were making these walks with a two year old and 4 year old)!

Our stay was wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were amazing and always willing to help you with whatever you needed. Loved the location, the pool and the grounds. The room was exactly what we needed for our stay. My only suggestion would be for them to invest in better mattresses. Perfect family environment. Looking forward to returning next year.

Rooms were okay. Staff friendly enough. Location was good. However, the hotel decided to schedule and perform their lawn maintenance on a Saturday evening (by the way, Saturday night rate heavily increased) between the hours of 6:30pm and 9:30pm.Not only was the lawn equipment extremely loud, but it was also left both ON and UNATTENDED several times (safety hazard for young children) so for a hotel that boasts (private?) balconies with ocean views/sounds, it just was very odd to us that we had to go inside our hotel room and shut the door for several hours on a beautiful Saturday evening. Very disappointing. Will NEVER return.

Absolutely everything was perfect. No kidding, we have never seen such a clean motel room and surrounding facility. Every corner of the room was pristenely clean. The carpet looked very new. I don't know the room dimensions but the size of the room gave the two of us plenty of space to move around. There is a small fridge with a freezer, and a microwave all on one side of the room with it's own counter top. Bathroom looked recently updated and again, super clean. Beds were very comfy. Each had four pillows.Outside, there is a one foot kiddy pool and a bigger pool that goes up to 8'. They have an evening fire pit too. Lots of lounge chairs for sunning or just relaxing. The motel overlooks the beach and the atlantic. It is only three stories high but you can still see the ocean. Each room has either a balcony or a patio facing the pool area. An outside entrance to each room is in the rear of the property, along with the parking area. There is also an elevator to get to the upper floors. Several lawn games, including corn hole, are available near the pool as well. Everyone was super friendly and so efficient. Kudos to the entire staff including the wonderful cleaning crew and the folks at the front desk. We will be returning. Thank you for making a special trip to the Jersey Shore even better!

My son and I did a quick mommy and me getaway and stayed at the Periwinkle- it was lovely! The woman who greeted us at the front desk was so sweet and accommodating. We were able to park at the hotel before check -in, change in the lobby bathroom and walked across the street to the beach. The pool and courtyard were perfect after a day at the beach. Our room was clean and cool! We will definitely be back for another visit soon!!

This was our third stay at the Periwinkle and once again it did not disappoint. The property is immaculately maintained and our room was clean and spacious. It had a little balcony with a direct view of the ocean. The pool is on the small size but very clean and perfect for the property. During our stay we enjoyed hearing Kellie Glover, a talented singer from American Idol. It was a nice unexpected surprise. There's a fire pit in the center of the grass which would have been even better if there were some Adirondack chairs to sit in and enjoy it. Shoutout to Karen our housekeeper for being so nice. There is a private shuttle service which we used on the last night. Kelsey our driver was so sweet. It's not cheap to stay in Cape May (it never has been) but the hotel prices are in line with everywhere else. We appreciate that it's not too close to them because we like it a little quiet. The shuttle service and the Jitney make this a non issue. In summary, we highly recommend The Periwinkle and look forward to staying here again in the future.

We really appreciated how clean and recently renovated the room was, plus the bed was very comfortable and it was great to have a sofa and table/chairs along with a kitchenette. Although we didn't use the pool, it was nice to have outdoor lounge chairs to sit and read (in addition to the balcony), and the grounds were attractive. We would definitely consider staying here again!

A wonderfully clean, and reasonably priced place to stay in Cape May. We really enjoyed their pool and convenient location across the street from the beach and promenade.Rooms: The rooms are clean, well maintained and ours had a fridge coffee maker, and microwave so we could have a convenient breakfast on site.Nearby activities: Numerous restaurants within walking distance. Interesting local museum, fun parasailing and jet ski rental, and whale watching cruise a short drive away. And a short drive to the Cape May light house and bird watching platform at the State park.Safety: Cape May is a safe, family-friendly town. We felt safe walking everywhere day and night.Walkability: We enjoyed walking on the promenade every morning, and walking to the many nearby restaurants for dinner.

This is more motel than hotel experience. That said, the rooms are clean, mattresses comfortable. The layout of the place does have some noise from other guests. We were satisfied with our stay and would consider it again.

Hotel needs to invest in some decent mattress and pillows. My neck was hurting like crazy after two nights.Bed is very low quality. Very uncomfortable.Nice pool, close to the beach, and family friendly business.

I am a budget traveler and I'm always trying to find the best price mixed with the best rated hotel for any trip we take. I go back and forth and back and forth between multiple hotels whenever my family is booking a trip and it takes me forever to finally decide. I am so glad I decided to book at the Periwinkle Inn. My husband and I had a fantastic stay! As far as Cape May goes it is a very pricey area no matter where you land for your accomodations. The Periwinkle met our expectations and we were pleasantly surprised with the amenities. The room was clean and had great beds. We like that we had a little kitchen area and a table with chairs in the room and then a patio with another set of table and chairs and two loungers to use. There was a large green space with lawn games and a fire pit for night time. The pool was perfect and the location of our room couldn't be better. The hotel is right across from the beach, you can't get any closer than that. The parking was great and we didn't have to worry about not finding a spot if we decided to leave at any point. The staff was very courteous and they even have one of those little golf carts to take you around for free. We've stayed at other noisy places in Cape May and we're not happy. At the Periwinkle everyone was quiet and respectful. We have bounced around at different places in Cape May but now I'll just go to the Periwinkle Inn from now on.

I d like to start by saying the woman at the front desk when we checked out was lovely. Also, the woman cleaning our room was fantastic and would leave our children shapes in the towels. That being said, we will not be returning after our 3rd year here. While the rooms are boasted as smoke free, the owners neglect to state that guests are allowed to smoke anywhere on the property. I wish the following account was an exaggeration. On this trip, a large group (which seemed to be related to either the owners or managers/workers of the property) spent the entire trip chain smoking and drinking by AND in the pool, at the common picnic tables and grills, and shuffle board. There was no regard for other guests health. There was no reprieve from their behavior. I was with two small children and a terminally Ill family member on this trip. Literally blowing smoke while kids walking past during the entire day. Cursing and drinking at the pool. Smoking so much that the smoke would permeate from the ashtrays to the air like a nicotine diffuser. We asked early on in the trip if this was allowed, and we were told yes, guests can smoke wherever. We couldn t use the pool. We couldn t use the grill. We couldn t use the picnic table. We were there eight days.I m all for having a good time but when you come to Cape May you expect less of a party scene, especially at a hotel without a bar. We paid 20 percent more to stay there this year and didn t use any of the amenities and had a smaller room. Horrible, horrible experience and a waste of money.

Visited the Periwinkle Inn in August '22 with my wife and daughter.Located about 6 blocks from the downtown area, the location is okay, but not the best.We arrived on August 31rst and departed on September 2nd prior to Labor Day weekend. I thought it was a little pricey for what it was.The pool is low end. We didn't bother. The room was mediocre but clean. The beds weren't great. I'm guessing you could buy them for $49.That said, the lady at the front desk was great.I wouldn't stay there or recommend, but it's an okay place.

Great hotel for a couple, friends, or families. The pool area is clean and there is a baby pool for small children/babies. The rooms are pretty up to date & they are clean. The walk to the beach is definitely one of the best in Cape May. 1 minute walk! Only 5 minute drive from city center! Loved being in a quiet area where the beach wasn t as crowded. The only complaint, and I wouldn t even call it that, is that the maid service was short staff. They brought new towels every day, but did not clean the room every day. I am sure if you asked, they would come in. We didn t need them to, as we kept the room organized. Highly recommend this hotel for the beach season and would definitely come back!
