Lovely B&B in a quiet Victorian seaside town. My husband and I spent a great weekend here. The innkeeper Nancy was nice and the food was nice. The hotel was communicative on how check in/out works.Nearby activities: Sightseeing, beach timeWalkability: Very walkable neighborhood

We loved our stay at the Dormer house. The manager did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The Victorian house has a lot of character. Our bedroom was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was great (strong hot coffee), and the area is so quiet and beautiful. It's just a few walking minute from the center of town with lots of choices for restaurants.

My husband and I have stayed at the Dormer House for several years. We enjoyed every moment! From the time we checked- in till we checked out, Nancy and her staff always went above and beyond to see that our stay was beyond our expectations. Our room was always clean and tidy. The whole house was immaculately tidy. Our daily breakfasts were delicious and filling. We enjoyed our time on the front porch and met and made new friends. We always look forward to our September visits.

My favorite place to stay in Cape May. Sitting on the front porch drinking coffee or at night a glass of wine is so relaxing. The accommodations are great. The breakfasts are always delicious. Friendly and accommodating staff.

We stayed here Memorial Day Weekend 2022 on our first time visiting Cape May. The house is spacious, clean and quaint. The staff and owner are very helpful and hospitable and made accommodations for our vacation needs. The included breakfasts were nutritious and more than adequate as were the afternoon tea and cookies. Convenient walking location to the beach and the provided beach chairs and towels are a nice bonus; bring your own beach umbrella though. I highly recommend The Dormer House for a wonderful Cape May getaway.

A really nice location! Loved that there was parking. They provide beach chairs and have an outdoor shower which is super convenient for the beach. The 3 pm tea time was lovely and the to go snacks were so delicious. Breakfast was also super delicious every morning! It is not really within walking distance of the beach with all your stuff, but if you want to go walk along the water at night or go to Washington St., you can definitely walk from here. We did have an issue in our room where our fire alarm was blinking all night and the light was a little distracting. I would also say the rooms are a little dated, but it super charming and I would definitely come back.

Incredible find. Walking distance to beach and center of town. I stayed in the smith cottage, which had a separate entrance, a porch with a small table and chairs. The cottage itself was adorable and roomy. Breakfast was included and my fellow guests were very friendly. There is a parking lot in back and the Dormer House also loans out towels and beach chairs.

Had a wonderful stay. It's a classic Cape May Victorian B&B. The breakfast was delicious and the porch with rockers and a huge swing was just the right way to relax and enjoy an evening sipping wine. We stayed in the Shannon Suite and it was quaint. The bathroom was nice sized and the bed was comfy. It shares a separate entrance from the main home and does have very steep steps to reach the room but that was no problem in our case. The parking lot is a huge plus. Recommend staying here.

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Dormer House this past weekend and had a great experience. This was our first time in Cape May and we were nervous for our stay since this was much cheaper than other places in the area. The location was great as we were able to walk to the beach and Washington street in under 10 mins. The area was quiet and felt very safe. Our room (#7) was very spacious and perfect for our weekend getaway. My favorite part was the delicious breakfast every morning and the fresh baked cookies every afternoon. We would definitely stay here again! Also can t forget to add the staff was very nice! Just one thing to note is the complimentary beach chairs are dated so I would recommend to bring your own if you can.

Booked The Dormer House for a Birthday Celebration Getaway Weekend for my Fianc and a group of his lifelong friends. There were 23 of us so we rented the entire property. It was PERFECT! Nancy was incredibly helpful went out of her way to help everyone get booked. I explained the reason for the weekend to her and she was excited to host our group from the start. We had a casual dinner catered one night, and walked to Union Park another. At Dormer House, there were great spaces for everyone to gather since the point of the weekend for for these friends to be together. The front porch is massive with plenty of seating. The living room had lots of comfy seating and was a perfect place for us to set up snacks and adult beverages. The breakfast room was bright and spacious. Coffee was ready bright and early each day, and breakfast was delicious (with generous portions). There were so many things within walking distance of Dormer House that once everyone parked in the on site parking lot, no one needed to drive anywhere. Washington St Mall, the beach, great restaurants and bars are within just a few blocks. The group wants to do a getaway weekend again next year and are already talking about returning to Dormer house again! We all had a great stay!

Very centrally located B & B in downtown Cape May. Spacious front porch with rocking chairs and relaxing swing. Breakfasts were decent but nothing outstanding. Lots of carbs and honestly just not enough fresh fruit. Our room had some issues with a very lumpy bed and giant tiles on the bathroom floor were super wobbly. Plus the kitchen entrance and the bicycle rack were right outside our windows so that we were in plain view while we were getting dressed and even in the bathroom! Other than breakfast servers the staff was virtually none existence.

Quaint little B&B. Great breakfast, we don't eat meat but they had no problem accommodating that. Our room was clean and there was an extra blanket in the closet, which I really appreciated. The staff weren't really around, which we had no problem with but that might be a downside for others, but everyone was very nice and helpful when we did see them. Wonderful, especially for the price!

Ornate Victorian inside complete with fine china tea cups with tea and cakes baked by fine, respectful staff. Quiet, soft music playing and lights on all the time inside. Complimentary, wonderful breakfast served on enclosed and open porches. Beautiful, comfortable antique furniture. Beach towels and chairs also included. Walking distance to Cape May beach and Washington Street shops and restaurants. Own parking lot. We really like it. Thank you.

This place is amazing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was organized and very clean, including the bathroom. We had breakfast and OMG, it was amazing and so well served. I do not know who make the baking but believe me, the cookies are delicious. I really recommend this place.

We stayed for three nights in room 6 - it was a good sized room with a place to sit - it does not have a couch as the website says. The breakfast was good each morning. There were several issues in the room - peeling paint in the ceiling (lead paint?) and a light fixture over the bathroom sink that did not work. The towels supplied were very low quality - and one of them was permanently stained. The bathroom had a massive jacuzzi tub - however it too was inoperable. And finally-the toilet in the room had a crack in the top of the bowl that was at least 6-8 inches long - we were concerned it might break off. However, the most troubling for us - there is basically no innkeeper here. We met someone when we arrived, and never saw her again. I sent an email regarding our concerns and it was never answered. There were different servers each morning for breakfast. And finally there was no hand sanitizer anywhere in the house. Not at breakfast, in the lobby, near the coffee - nowhere. They did have single use vinyl food service gloves to be used - but they ran out on our second day there and were not replaced.Overall, the house is in a good location, and has its own parking - those are the positives. It is in massive need of maintenance - and when you go to a B&B you anticipate meeting and talking with the innkeeper - here there was no one. It was not inexpensive by any stretch - I would say avoid and find another option when visiting Cape May.

What can I not say about this bed and breakfast? First of all, this place it huge. It's gorgeous and has that old manor charm to it. I checked in way beyond the time the staff is available but they left me my key on a table in the lobby. Breakfast was served every morning and coffee and tea was available all day for all guests. There was an ice machine, and even tea time which consisted of lemonade, iced tea, and cookies. The room was VERY spacious with a good size bathroom considering the nature of the place. The staff, especially the owner, was extremely friendly. I will most definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stay at the Dormer House annually to celebrate our anniversary. This past year was our forth time staying at the Dormer House, and it s just keep getting better and better. We have stayed in the Antique Rose and the Dormer Suite- both charming and delightful. The house is well kept, clean, and very inviting. The front porch is one of our favorite places on the property as we can watch the horse carriages pass by while enjoying tea and freshly home-baked goods- which all are to die for! The beach and Washington Square are only a short walk away. But what sets this B&B apart from all the others in Cape May is the amazing hospitality from the family that runs the Dormer House. Diana is a very accommodating and compassionate host, her husband Mike an exceptional chef and her mom, Lucille, is known for her baking. Needless to say, the dining experiences at the Dormer House were beyond exceptional. If you have a chance to visit beautiful Cape May, you need to stay at the Dormer House- you will leave relaxed and rejuvenated!

Normally I enjoy staying at B & B's.However, this one was unacceptable. The window A/C unit had mold growing on/inside it, the floor tile in the bathroom was slightly loose, the windows would not close completely & the insulation was beginning to fall out of it, both foot & headboard of the bed were loose & wobbly, paint was peeling off the walls and closet, & duct tape was around all feet of a small table. The management did offer us a different room with central a/c, but the vent looked like it should have been vaccumed out first. We ended up having to end our stay early & leave for home on what should have been a relaxing trip. The house is old & historical, which I enjoy the charm, but these are issues that can be addressed. The food was very good & large portions.

Quaint, clean, quiet, with outstanding hospitality! What more could we expect? Dormer House provided all that and more: Delicious food, abundant afternoon desserts, peaceful front porch, 24/7 coffee and tea, comfortable beds, friendly staff, free beach chairs, towels, bonus outdoor shower and restrooms for late afternoons back from the beach! Beyond our every expectation!

I would normally give this a 5 star, but I feel with the new owners things need more attention. Beautiful rooms, awesome breakfast on the porch is included, along with tea time at 4 pm daily on porch as well. Great location, near beaches & shopping.
