I recently had the pleasure of planning an event for our son at this wonderful establishment. It's safe to say that our experiences here have been consistently fantastic. From intimate drinks as a couple to lively outings with friends, and even a well-deserved moms' night out, this place is a local landmark that we simply adore. One of the standout features of this venue is the availability of rooms upstairs for those who want to extend their visit and enjoy the convenience of staying over. It's a thoughtful touch that adds to the overall charm of the place.I particularly enjoy sitting out on the patio during warmer days. The ambiance is just perfect for relaxation, and it's a great spot to soak in the local atmosphere. Equally inviting is the lobby, which exudes a welcoming and cozy vibe. Whether you're waiting for your event to start or simply enjoying some downtime, the lobby provides a comfortable space to unwind.Overall, this place has left a lasting impression on our family, and we'll continue to frequent it for various occasions.

We stayed at the Bernard's Inn this past Labor Day weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The room was very comforting, the service was absolutely spectacular (Thanks so much Angel & Nina). We did not know what to expect but knew that we needed to get away from the daily grind. Had dinner at the Inn on Friday night and the meal was spectacular. We sat next to a couple that was married at the Inn 5 years ago and came back to celebrate. That spoke volumes to me. I look forward to sneaking away again whenever life gets lifey and we need to unwind in the future.

Food was very good. Service was ok. Not sure why now that the restaurant is called the Red Horse all the lovely tables from the original restaurant have been changed out for regular cafe style seating. Not to mention the resurfacing of the old bar. What a waste of time and money. The hotel and neighborhood are more traditional in nature. The current atmosphere is disappointing compared to the old Bernard's Inn Restaurant. We could have been eating anywhere.

I am giving this review for the restaurant only. The food is absolutely delicious. Everything on the menu is carefully crafted and made to order with any issues of allergies observed. The place itself is beautiful. We requested a quiet table and were put in a private room, away from the piano and it was wonderful. The main dining area is gorgeous as well. They do have a piano there which was being played during our meal. I had clams with a basil aioli as an appetizer and a cassoulet as the entree. The cassoulet was so delicious and inspiring that I had to try to make it myself (I did pretty well). I would eat here again and again. Great, attentive service, as well.

Just okay. Stayed here two nights and was comfortable, but the rooms are definitely aging with peeling wallpaper and stained carpets. There were no blackout curtains, fan, mini fridge, and the pillows were fairly flat. Would probably rate it two stars, but the service was very friendly and the rest of the hotel was nice.

Stayed at Bernards Inn for a business event. While I would typically prefer a more modern hotel experience, this turn of the century aesthetic was an enjoyable experience. The rooms are large, with a living room area separated from the bedroom. The beds are comically tall and required a step stool to get in. The bathrobes are fabulous and I almost bought one to take home! Our group of 12 reserved the dining room which had a large stone fireplace and beautiful long wooden dining table. We samples nearly every appetizer and were all delicious except for the brussel sprouts which I was not a fan of. My main course was a scallop dish, which I found to be overpriced for what was delivered but the taste was fine.

Great dinner for a hotel restaurant. The place was packed on a Friday night, with live music to boot which was a nice touch as we were here to celebrate a birthday. For food, we had the Caesar salad (great flavor and not overdressed) and the French onion soup (too sweet with not enough bread/cheese to onion ratio). For entrees, we had the burger (amazing and rich), steak au poivre (large portion), chicken (SUPER flavorful) and duck (HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This was a perfectly executed dish). The only sad part was when we ordered dessert, we were brought a card from the staff as a congratulations . No singing, no candles, nothing. Rather disappointing with how expensive the dinner was. Minus that, overall nice experience.

Beautiful atmosphere. Nice menu. Full bar with unique cocktails. We dined on a Wednesday night when the pianist was there. Talented individual. We enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, wines, pasta, entrees, desserts and after dinner drinks. A great evening celebrating one of our friend's birthday.

I recently had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at The Bernards Inn in NJ and it was one of the most beautiful venues I have ever been in! From a videographer's perspective, it was ideal. The grounds are absolutely stunning and provide plenty of wonderful backdrops for capturing amazing footage. The natural light that fills the space made for some great shots as well. My favorite spot was the garden terrace - it offered up such a romantic environment and we were able to craft some truly unique shots there. All in all, I highly recommend The Bernards Inn to any couple looking for an extraordinary venue!

Very grateful to Lisa Davis, the pastry chef, for the delicious cakes that she makes for us over the last few years. Her pastries are not sugary at all like they normally are in the US. Lisa s cakes taste more European (I would say that they are the best I ve tried in America). This year for my birthday my husband ordered a coconut/vanilla with chocolate glaze and it was absolutely delicious!! A small tip - if you are able to keep the cake for a couple of days in the fridge it only gets better (so don t hesitate to order a bigger size)). We all can t recommend it enough and will definitely come back for more! Thank you Lisa!

Don't know about the rooms. The food and drinks were first rate. The service by the staff was also fist rate.

Took my partner here for her birthday. The place was beautiful, and we managed to get an entire dining room to ourselves.Appetizers were great, we got crispy brussel sprouts and a salad.Dinner was very disappointing. I got duck cooked medium and it was served under done. She got a steak (medium-well) which was cooked terribly. The left side of the steak was rare, and the right side was well done.. as if only half of the steak was on the grill, everything between was like progressively cooked. I couldn't mess up a steak like that If I tried.Desserts were okay. I got a tres leches and it was pretty good, she got a chocolate cake and it was dry( as if it was old) and lacking flavor.Overall, consitering how highly recommended this place was, I was extremely disappointed. This place only gets 2 stars for the atmosphere and the great wait staff.

Had my wedding at the Bernards Inn recently and it was a great experience for the most part. However, they really messed up the table floor plan because they didn t properly communicate internally about changes. They had our parents and siblings sitting on the opposite side of the room from us. It was a mistake that shouldn t have happened and it caused a lot of frustration

Good food and nice atmosphere. However, when a busgirl drops someone s dirty spoon on your jacket and stains it, a busboy later drops someone s dirty fork on your shoes, and then bread pudding comes out cold and hard as a rock and you tell the waiter about it, you might expect that the bread pudding might be on the house. Apparently that s too much to expect.

I want first thank the amazing maitre de Shelly for accommodating our dinner plans and our excellent waiter Robert for excellent service. Bernards Inn restaurant operates seamlessly. The food is OUTSTANDING. You can taste the pride and passion the chefs had in creating wonderful dishes. I had the Best burger I've had in my entire life. The ice cream alone is better than many creameries. All around what an amazing experience thank you so much I will definitely be returning. I'd recommend for special occasions but even with the higher price point you get what you pay for.

Absolute gem of location for a wedding. Amanda, Felix, and entire staff went beyond to make our event magical. Food was delicious and bartender very knowledgeable as well. Cannot wait to go back for dinner!

I only wish I could've stayed longer! The hotel is adorable and historic, the staff is so kind and attentive, and the amenities (from the toiletries to the free cookies) were great! A couple things to bear in mind if they matter to you: 1) I'm not much of a TV person but I did notice the set in my room was pretty small, and 2) the room doesn't have a fan so if you like air movement while you sleep I'd prepare for that. Even so, the stay was great and if I'm in the area again I know my first choice!

This was our last stop on a 5 day mini vacation. I'm so glad valet parking is back!!! We stayed the night and the staff was as usual very friendly and acomidating. There was a wedding going on and we slept through that. Because they care enough to put us far away from the noise. Way to go! And did I mention, I slept like a baby! Wonderful beds, sheets and room temp. Coffee in the morning starting at 5:30 was a definite plus. Always feel at home here. Do go if your in the need to stay in the area.

I had my wedding reception there 20 years ago, it was wonderful for a smaller crowd. My wife and I have returned for drinks at the bar, for dinner and even lunch. Every time we have enjoyed ourselves immensely. When we return for our anniversary dinners, we are welcomed as a special occasion. We have stayed over night several times and each room has been well done. I highly recommend it.

The meal was delicious with plenty of food in the portions and the service was impeccable. The atmosphere is perfect because in the room we were seated we could hear the music but the were only a few tables so we could actually hear ourselves talk to one another. The pianist (there every Saturday night) in the bar played all kinds of music from many decades but as the evening progressed, he played more music that we loved (Billy Joel, rock favorites) singing many of the songs and his voice was pretty good! A VERY enjoyable birthday evening!

Food was a only 3 star since the duck and the skirt steak were a bit too salty. Patrons used to wear more appropriate attire. Now you see folks dinning in sneakers, ripped jeans, sweatshirts, just as casual as what you would wear at McDonalds. Also, staff / waiters used to be a bit dressier. Waiters did not properly serve or take dishes away. Ones does not reach across the table to clear plates. Utensils did not match.
