I cannot thank these guys enough for the great work they did to my 39 Chevy had a nice 400 small block Chevy rebuilt by them. Dan went over everything with me. Had everything powder coated it s so sweet I cannot wait for the body and paint to be finished. Explain how I wanted it to look to match the paint job. I m having done on the car and they knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend these guys with the text messages of photos of the progress was great for me, knowing that I m a 2 Hour Dr. to them, Dan and his crew are awesome. You want your hot rod musclecar done right this is the place to go. !!!

Hot Rod Garage is def the place to go if you want it done right. Dan is a pro and takes care of his customers and loves what he does. The work was clean and done perfectly. He took my tired 69 Impala and gave it new life. Engine, Trans, Power Disc Brakes, Completely rebuilt all suspension, The list goes on. car runs, drives and rides NEW. Prices are more than fair and it was done ahead of the estimated schedule. Went above and beyond. The attention to detail is refreshing. I picked it up last week and already dropped off the next build. Thanks Dan and Bob for everything!!!Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Transmission replacement, Auto exhaust system replacement, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Auto brake replacement

I absolutely hate writing negative reviews about a business, but I have been left with no choice. I took my car to Hot Rod Performance Garage in August 2020 for my 1984 Camaro. Dan, the owner, inspected my vehicle and provided me an estimate of $10,000-$12,000 and the car would take about 3-4 months. It has been over 2.5 years and the engine still isn't done. In fact, the car is still on the lift. Likewise, over $30k (parts and labor) has been put into the car and payment was required to be made upfront, instead when work was completed. To be fair, we did make upgrades to the car as the process went on, but I wasn't even advised or understood that if one area of the car needed to be upgraded, then it would lead to a domino affect of other parts needing to be upgrade. For example I needed to spent almost $5k on a new rear end to handle the alleged horsepower. Nonetheless, whatever Dan wanted, I followed and paid for it. During the 2.5 years, parts have been lost in Dan's shop, I've been hung up on, and my family has gone to the shop doing normal business hours with no one there. At time, I don't feel like I'm dealing with a professional. Promises were continued to be made without follow through. I started this project because I got married in April 2022. The plan was to have the car complete for my wedding. Dan missed the deadline and I was left without the car on the most important day of my life. There were delays in the body shop that Dan recommended (which was a disappointment) because they weren't getting paid, despite the shop having a ton of my money. A hole in the floor was missed, despite the fact that Dan inspected my car before we started the project. Frankly, Dan wasn't paying attention to my car. Now I'm looking at positive reviews of substantial work being done on other cars, while my continues to sit on a lift. I understand that Dan has had numerous personal problems over the year, and I'm emphatic, but we all have problems. At the end of the day, this is business and work needs to be completed in a reasonable time. When I've spoke to other shops, they are in complete disbelief of what I've been going through. I also want to make clear that Dan is a good guy, and he knows his stuff, but this project has been an absolute nightmare. Although, I believe he is a good mechanic, I'm honestly concerned about his quality of work and will have someone look it over, if it ever gets done. I've tried to talk with him multiple times and get on the same page, but it appears to go through one ear and out the other. I honestly didn't want to write this review, but its my hope it will kick him into high gear.

My husband had his car done there several times now. Each time it gets better than before. We are so happy with the work Dan did to our car. He also worked on my son's truck. It looks like new. We will always recommend Dan and Hotrod Garage

I can't recommend this place. Without getting into too much detail it seems like they were too busy when my car was there to test their work properly. They dressed the engine up and made it look pretty, but it wasn't tested properly to get back a solid running car. Notice all of the cars in the background of the pictures outside? Your car will probably join that backlog of work and sit for a long time. Good luck! Beware of the contract you sign when starting service. You just might end up having to pay to pick up your car when you get tired of waiting.-UpdatesTypical response from Dan the owner to a negative review. Assuming a customer is cheap and trying to pass blame of a bad experience is not a great look after spending $7,500 on some work that wasn t complete. I never asked to work on a budget I just wanted a solid running car when done. I didn t want to get into it since there were so many things wrong over the year that my car sat at your facility its actually just hard to keep track of all the lies and stories, but I will do my best to outline them.- Drop car off and Dan has time to go over the car and make recommendations on what we need to fix. I ok every list item and work gets started, or so I thought.- Over 6 months or so Dan could hide behind the vendors that he outsourced work to for a carb rebuild and transmission work.- I had to call every few weeks and check in to try and get updates after letting Dan do his thing for 3-4 months with no contact. No proactive updates on the project were given. I was simply trying to keep the project on track since it felt like my car was just sitting outside in the weather.- Dan is a good storyteller and overall comes off as a nice guy so you want to give him the benefit of the doubt. The one story that was the icing on the cake for me was that he could not tune my car properly until his hand was healed. Dan said that he needed to be able to drive it to tune it correctly. Then when I picked the car up months after this story, he mentioned that he couldn t fit in the car to drive it so his tech test drove it. So why was I waiting for your hand to heal then if you didn t need to drive the car? That lie just solidified the feeling in my gut that a lot of the other excuses were lies and why it took a year to get my car back.- When picking the car up I asked for a detailed receipt to so can go over the work that was actually done and he was unable to provide it. I asked a few times, and he never produced the document.- Be cautious about the work cancelation policy- If you drop off parts inventory them to make sure you get everything back if it s not used.- Ask to keep all parts taken off of your car to verity they were actually changed, and they might be worth money. In summary if the car was sound after waiting a year for this work to be done, I would have been ok with it. However, having to visit another shop to fix the work that was already done finally made me write a review.Services: Transmission, Carburetor cleaning, General repairs & maintenance

I took my 1933 Street Rod to HotRod Garage for 2 oil leaks.Dan replaced the oil pan gasket and also the intake manifold gasket. I also asked Dan to go over the engine. I purchased the car 2 years ago, it always ran well, but Dan did a tune on it, and found and repaired some minor issues. The car runs so much better now and no more oil leaks!! Dan was also very accommodating to my schedule.I now have a very competent shop to take my car if I need anything else done!

Took my 81 z28 to have transmission repaired as well as engine check and gasket replacements. Dan inspected the car up and down and gave an honest opinion on prioritizing what should be done first. After pulling Trans and motor Dan gave us updates along the way and confirmed any potential issues. Overall Dan and Jay at hot rod garage know their stuff and are more than fair. I wouldn't take my camaro anywhere else but to hot rod garage.Services: Transmission, Carburetor cleaning, Steering & suspension repair, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Battery, Oil change

Had a electrical problem on my 37 Ford Cabriolet which Dan and his crew was able to check many wires under the dash and under the car. They were able to pinpoint, made suggestions and corrected gauge thicknesses along with validating that the correct amps were being transferred from one point to the next without losing any amps/power. He kept me very informed throughout the time my car was at his shop. He is very knowledgeable and professional! I will use him again in the future if needed and will highly recommend him to anyone with a hot rod, street rod, classic car or if you re looking to get something professionally built. Thanks Dan for getting me back on the street so I can cruise and enjoy my street rod!

I should have looked up and heeded this shop's negative online reviews and never gone there. It advertises at car shows - forget it. After I had my classic car towed there, when I went in, a man at the counter was arguing with the owner to get his car back; another bad sign. The shop rarely contacted me about progress on the work, just scare tactics to upsell; I got lie after lie about completion dates. The owner has used the same excuses with customers for years not to do the work in a timely manner: his wife or daughter is sick so he can't come to the shop that day. Meanwhile my car sat outside for six months rusting. It took letters from an attorney to get it back.

When I dropped off my car Oct 1 2019, I was looking at having my trans redone, my rear wheel wells (rust) redone, and my engine bored. Trans was done right away. It took 5 months for the rear wheel wells to get done. Paint job is terrible and car not right color. After 12.5 months, engine still not done. Stall tactics all the time. Shop's mistake was that the car is a 72 Impala 4 dr. The car isn't worth much. Pulled car from shop. Bought new engine so I don't have to wait another 6 months for an engine. Wait time and paint color=1-star rating.
