If you don't want work done go here,,,stopped 2 days in a row about putting tires on literally changing a tire.....they say they are busy but always sitting at the desk everything you go in...take your work to jazzar auto down the street...the guy literally was in the parking lot came looked at my situation and said he will do it...

not a decent job , some parts were no re attached and missing parts repair, and lost my wheel cap did not replace and I ended up buying a new one

Blah ..it's nice to know that when employees fly out of their post whileworking , that no reprimand is taken . Do that junk ON YOUR OWN TIMENOT SOMEONE else's!!!!

I ve only ever gone to my family s business in a different state and am THRILLED to have found Johns Auto. My Jeep s check engine light came on during the weekend so I dropped it off on Sunday night. Steve and I spoke the following morning, he called me back with an estimate, and completed the job by 2pm Monday. I m happy with their service, professionalism, and speediness. This review hurts to write as a Barrington resident who is extremely loyal to small business, but Steve in the front office really needs to work on his communication skills and I won't be taking my vehicle here again. Over a week ago he told me I could get my tags off of my vehicle once my insurance company paid them and that they would call me. Well, the insurance company paid the bill, but then Steve let...someone...I still don't know, tow the insurance company's car (since it was totaled) with my plates to a location about 20 miles away.I understand companies can be a pain and plans change, that's not the issue here. The issue is the communication was on par with the DMV, not a small business, I waited 8 days before even asking for an update. A phone call from Steve saying what happened instead of radio silence and finding out what I was told to expect did not happen at all would go a long way. It completely blew away any trust I have with this location, which is unfortunate because I'm raising my family here and up until this point was going to have them be my mechanic. It's funny because the house across from them was one my family almost moved into and I would have a giant sign out front on my lawn right now rather than posting this Google review.Dealing with the headache of a totaled vehicle is difficult enough and John's Auto made it much more difficult. Now I have to go deal with this while I have a stressed out wife and newborn at home, all because Steve couldn't pick up the phone and take ownership of what he told me and tell me changed. Get it together Steve.Somehow we live in a world where my insurance rep at a multi-billion dollar company was more helpful than a small business. That's not how to do business in Barrington and there are plenty of other small auto shops to take your business if this experience I'm sharing rubs you the wrong way.

If you're looking for an "HONEST" mechanic who does superior work at the right price, you've found the perfect place. I recently had my GMC Terrain checked out and serviced here. All the guys who work there are extremely polite and very knowledgeable. I will NEVER go anywhere else again for auto repairs & service. Thanks again guys!! Probably one of the last throw back auto shops that are a part of the community. They are reliable and dependable. They do great work even down to changing a tire. If you live in the area and your car is broken down jonn will send a toy truck

Our car ran into problems while on our way to the beach for vacation .We called John's auto service and they said they could squeeze us in right away. After working for about ten minutes on what we thought the problem might be, jack came out and told us the problem was actually much cheaper and faster to fix. After another 5 minutes or so the car was up and running and we were on our way once again. The service and price could not have been any better .I highly recommend them for any and all your automotive needs. Would gladly give more than 5 stars if possible !

So we were on our way to A.C. and the battery light comes on, we make our way to the closest auto zone and buy a battery. After installing the light still is on and they diagnose as a bad alternator. Since auto zone doesn't replace them, we are in the hunt for the nearest mechanic. Trusty google pops up Johns Auto Service (11 reviews 4.5 stars) I give them a call. I explain my dilemma (out of towners on our way to the beach, don't know the area, etc.), ask for a price and if they could get the in and fixed right away. The gentleman on the phone (Jack) was very nice and pleasant, not only was the quoted price ($143) way less then Pep Boys ($211) he said he could fix the car if we got it to him right away. On our way we went, via their directions (less than a mile away from auto zone) I walked up, parts in hand and there was Jack to meet us. He advised he would look at the car first and see if it was indeed the alternator. We all know how that goes and think what else are they going to come up with. After about 20 mins, here comes Bill (mechanic) and Jack and advised it's not the alternator but the a.c. compressor and the belt was broke and he gave two solutions, he could change out the compressor and belt or put two new belts on and have no a.c until we can get it repaired but the car would be just fine to drive and would have no other issues, just no a.c. I'm cool with that, not only were they completely open and honest about the car repairs, they were priced right and didn't take advantage of us. Hard to find these days. Oh yeah and their woman's bathroom, clean, clean clean another thing you don't find at repair shops. So yes I give 5+ stars and kudos to Jack and Bill with a high recommendation that whether you are local or out of town and need gas or repairs this is the place to go!!!

I broke down in wawa in runnemede. I called johns and they sent tow truck and it took only 5 mins. They took my car to shop and repaired the car in 1 day. They were really honest. I love this place.

Been going to John's for over 15 years , He has always given me top service ..with repairs & towing2022--Not anymore Since John retired their repairs are terrible , they recently botched up a oil change for me, ck engine lite came on went right back , they turned off the engine light & said noting was wrong ...went to another shop & they sixed the oil job pan was bent to name a few problems ...I will never go back to them again
