Picture Schitts Creek meets Joe Dirt and you have the Snowy Owl Inn.In 2024 when you check in and everything is paper and pencil and staff gives you legit room keys you know you re in trouble. Came for hockey tourney, do yourselves a favor find a condo in the village if you have to come to this Waterville Valley Resort .Room is decades old dirty red carpet, crusty bedding that looks like military surplus, jacuzzi tub from Miami Vice era, and the creepiest bifold window / door into bathroom that I can t understand the use for. Anyone who calls this a home away from home either lives in a double wide or should burn their house down.Team rented basement function area of dinner first night, sections of window trim were hanging off the wall and staff claimed they had no to go boxes in the building. Staff have generally not been easy to deal with in accommodating any request without making it sound like we re asking to wear the Crown Jewels. Pool and any other amenities are a drive away thanks to the idiotic freedom pass system. The front door of the place actually looks like it has dry rot at the base, if that s any indication of upkeep. If you want 1960 s NH ski experience come here, if you want modern, clean, and oh I don t know room key cards and no funky mold smell everywhere go to Loon or North Conway / Bartlett area resorts run by legit hotel chains. Don t know how this place passes various inspections let alone remains standing.

LOVE this place. Third year in a row and it gets better every year. Amazing, friendly and responsive staff, perfect locale in the center of it all. Great rooms, ambience and food. I will keep coming back year after year.Rooms: Clean, cozy, many different room types (great variety). Kitchens and jacuzzi tubs in some rooms!Nearby activities: Smack dab in the center of it all--shops, cafes, lake, hiking, golf just out the doorWalkability: Smack dab in the center of it allFood & drinks: Lovely little bar with creative barkeep, wonderful food and breakfast--and some of the best doeals in pricey Waterville ValleyNoteworthy details: This place is apres ski lodge chic with a soaring lobby and huge stone fireplace

We just stayed for 8 days, and the Snowy Owl was our home. The friendly staff and owner live in the hotel. The location is the best in the valley. The restaurant food in the hotel is excellent and reasonably prices. The furnishings are rustic, its not a modern hotel, its a home away from home.Rooms: The only hotel in the valley that allows dogs.Nearby activities: Bike trail riding, disc golf, golf, tennis and church service at the top of the lift at the ski school.Safety: You never have to lock your doorWalkability: The best location to walk to townFood & drinks: The hotel restaurant is best value in townNoteworthy details: Book directly for your free Freedom pass...

The front desk staff, especially Rachel, was friendly & helpful. Room could've been cleaner, some things were overlooked but on the whole good. Under new ownership and they are upgrading and replacing. Restaurant was good as was free continental breakfast. Location great, right in Waterville Valley square. Wifi weak if not next to lobby. None on 3rd floor where we stayed. Would give them another try.

My wife and I stayed here for one night on short notice. From what I read before picking this inn for a nights stay, I learned that there was new owners just about a year ago. It was obvious to us that they are working to improve the inn. The bed was comfortable, clean and linens in good shape. Room was clean but could tell there was some age in certain parts. The window shades were brand new. We did not try the pub for dinner as we had other plans. We did, however have breakfast there, as a guest we paid $8 for breakfast which was good. The continental breakfast was one of the best we have seen with many choices. The only feedback we would offer is to put room darkening curtains in the rooms. We were on the parking lot side and the room was bright from lights and once sun came up it got very bright. Maybe install an outdoor hot tub. We enjoy ours at home and have used ones at other places we have stayed, We will be visiting the inn again.

I walked in the lobby to ask about rooms. Before I could get to the front desk, I was struck by the smell of mouse urine and feces. I'm sure the people that work there don't notice it anymore, but it is strong. I hope they can remedy the problem as it is a very nostalgic 70's style hotel

The Snowy Owl hotel is located in a great location with several restaurants and bars in walking distance. While some of the hotel rooms are dated, management is actively working to refurbish the rooms with approximately 50 percent completed to date. The hotel staff are extremely nice and accommodating and actively work to improve your experience. While there is not a pool on sight we were provided with freedom passes, which provides us with pools, indoor track, fitness room, and a steam and sauna rooms among other amenities. I would rate this hotel a 3.5.

The room we had was a bit dated and they closed their pool. We could use another pool in the area though. Other than that the place was great.A very welcome surprise was the new restaurant. It is new since our last stay and it is fantastic. I have a lot of food sensitivities with preservatives they make me very sick so I have to be careful where I eat... No problems at this place at all. .. even the risky foods.I didn't ask but it feels like a scratch kitchen ... I really can't say enough about the food. They are open for breakfast and dinner... Not a huge menu but we were happy with what they had.The staff at the restaurant are nice and attentive ... I don't think they expected so much business and they seemed concerned about delays but they handled a big influx of customers very well.In summary ... Some may not care for accommodations ... There are more modern fancier places in Waterville ... but the food is top notch.

This Inn is amazing if you can appreciate vintage decor. The food was delicious, everything was made from scratch. There is a great continental every morning and full service restaurant on weekends for breakfast and dinner. We stayed here for 3 nights because it has pet friendly rooms and the staff made us all feel like family. The views are magnificent and its right next door to "Town Square" so we didn't need to drive anywhere. They also have lots of fun , quaint , quiet sitting areas on each floor. There is a library area, a puzzle table, a chest full of board games. I could go on and on... it has a lot of charm.

We would definitely recommend Snowy Owl Inn. It does show it's age but it's comfortable and clean, staff is friendly, the continental breakfast is great, when they have the extra staff available the hot breakfast and dinner are great! The Inn is located right next to Town Square, very convenient. You only have a quick walk to restaurants, convenience store, shops, arcade, ice rink and Nordic center. If Snowy Owl staff is reading this, we very much enjoyed our stay, we would however recommend blackout curtains over the blinds. We were in 229 and at night the lights were very bright from the exterior lights.

I spent the 4th of July weekend in this hotel with my family, the staff was friendly, but not very helpful. Our room was filthy: there were hairs on the bed, and in the bathroom. The silverware in the kitchenette was stored dirty and drawers were dirty. The floor carpets were filthy. Broken sofa bed and very uncomfortable, and bed were uncomfortable as well. We had and electricity issue I called and never got a response. The hotel overall is outdated and old. I work in the hospitality industry and I understand that we are living difficult times in our economy, and the hotel is not a 5 stars resort, but cleanliness should be the number one priority in any property no matter the brand, rating stars, city, conditions of the building or price rate. Cleanliness shows pride for give the best to the guests that spend money and expect to receive back in value for his/ her booking. Also the kitchen didn t have a stove or a place to cook. I will never book again in this hotel.

Breathing New LifeWe had a delightful experience when we stopped in for a dinner at the Snowy Owl Inn. The staff was very accommodating and the food and seasonal cocktails delicious. We spent some time talking with Sean Ward, the owner for the last year. He bought the neglected inn and is quickly turning it around! It was impressive to hear about the updates that have already been done to the inn, including all new beds and bedding in each room. The carpeting is in the process of being replaced as well. Sean has an exciting vision about the future of the inn including a beautiful wedding venue near the brook. The location is perfect- right next to the Waterville Valley Town Square, where we enjoyed listening to a local band after dinner. I look forward to staying here next time we are in town can t wait to see the next set of improvements!

Pleased! A nice place to stay, right near the Waterville Valley Village, and close to the ski area. Excellent check in, the attendant Hailey was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfy. The Inn was nicely decorated for the season, had several levels with fireplaces and couches to sit in. We loved the main level it had a fireplace and another area with a cozy wood burning stove. Free continental breakfast, coffee, 3 kinds of juices, doughnuts, and muffins. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again. My only " complaint" was that there wasn't any gluten free options for breakfast.

Kind and helpful front desk staff- we were here for a wedding, and it was in a central location that worked great for us.Due to Hurricane Henri we had to leave at 5am and the front desk staff kindly let us have some muffins before the 7am continental breakfast was served- we so greatly appreciated that since we had no idea what sort of conditions we would be driving through!

Have stayed here many times over the years for hockey but not by my choice. The rooms are dated beds uncomfortable. Front desk staff is ok one lady very cold and never looks happy. The common areas throughout are great but none of the fireplaces work. The complimentary breakfast in morning is horrible cold hard muffins and plain donuts. I am glad I dont have to pay for my room when I go we all dread staying at the "The Dirty Towel"

THE SNOWY OWL IS BACK! I have been coming up to the Snowy Owl my whole life and even though some of the former owners neglected the hotel, We were just up WVV last week and The Snowy Owl is under new Management and Ownership and our stay could not have been better. From The folks at the front desk (Julie is great) and the owners are amazing. Service and Quality was so outstanding and it makes me so happy that this hotel, once again has the magic even better than I remember! The hotel was full of life and the staff is incredible. Can't wait to see where these folks take The New and Improved Snowy Owl

Overall we had a wonderful time here. It is right in the heart of Waterville Valley adjacent to the Town Square, restaurants and outdoor winter recreation. We took a sleigh ride, went snowshoeing and had a real nice time with our friends. There are several common areas where we spent a good deal of time just hanging out playing games. The staff at Snowy Owl was helpful and knew a lot about the area. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and had a beautiful view of the mountains. We really liked the oversized octagonal pool, and the sit down breakfast in the dining room was excellent. But the place needs a facelift. There were two hot tubs that were closed off because they weren't "up to code", according to a sign. There were also several common areas with gas fireplaces, but at least two of the fireplaces were inoperable and posted with signs warning guests not to try lighting them! I felt that for the price we paid these advertised amenities should have been working, and it is clear that they hadn't been for some time. I would recommend the owners take a good look at replacing the worn out carpet, tattered chair cushions in the common areas and getting the hot tubs and the fireplaces fixed. This place must have been very nice in the 1980's. With a little work it could be again.

This place has gone downhill and lost its appeal. Our first visit was in 2000, the centerpiece of the hotel was the giant hearth In an atrium living room , with aprs-ski wine and cheese every afternoon . The smell stuck in my mind of cozy smoky relaxing after exercise.15 years ago they shellacked over all of the wood, and removed the fireplace. 10 years ago, the service became awful . in the last five years, though, the hotels frayed lining is obvious. There really is no continental breakfast. Just a couple wrapped donuts and cold coffee . The former basement kitchen and seating is all closed up in the basement and you can't go down there. There are basically no amenities and the rooms are shabby and haven't been kept up and they're tiny. The charm is gone, and we still have our memories so the charm is just in our memories. The townspeople bought this place when it went out of business . There must be a good reason why it cannot stay afloat, but that doesn't mean you have to lose the quality of your vacation to this hotel that just has awful service. It pains me to write this , more to experience it.

The Snowy Owl is great! Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Some of the rooms have a small kitchen so you can cook if you want, or you can have a nice breakfast in the dining room. Free coffee, orange juice and bagels in the morning. Much better than a condo in my opinion because someone will make the beds, vacuum and bring you clean towels everyday. :-) The kids loved the pool and a little time in the sauna before bed was heavenly.
