Such a great location and very modern! Small weight room, but good enough with 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, an elliptical, and dumbbells, and more. The breakfast was amazing. My room had a small kitchen, which comes in handy. The only gripe I have is about the shower. It was great temperature and pressure, but it had glass that didn t quite cover the area so water got on the floor a lot. I think this is causing water damage.

I'm not one to post anything but we've stayed many times here as our 'go to' hotel in Postmouth and have always been happy, this time however, Meg on the desk set it over the top. Meg checked us in on a Monday afternoon and was ALWAYS on the desk during our entire 3 day stay - with the hotel being as busy as it was, Meg addressed us by name every time she saw us and made us feel 'at home', well done to her.

Hotel room was actually very spacious, clean, and modern. The kitchenette was equipped with a large refrigerator, microwave, sink, and dishwasher. The bathroom was a little odd with the shower design, but like the rest of the room, it was nice and spacious. Staff were very nice and accommodating. So here's the issue... The walls are paper thin - more so than any hotel we've experienced. You can hear everything going on in the surrounding rooms. It honestly felt like we were sharing our room with the family next door. We (me, my daughter and wife) had 2 nights of horrible sleep because of this. It's a shame because the hotel and staff are very nice but getting terrible sleep because of paper thin walls is a deal breaker for us.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to all of Downtown Portsmouth. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was large and bright. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom seemed a bit dirty like it had not been thoroughly cleaned before my stay. Complimentary breakfast was unfussy and welcomed. Drinks were available for purchase from the front desk and were reasonably priced. Overall stay was as expected from a 3-star accommodation.

Clean, spacious room. If I am guessing this correctly, this is one of the best remodels I've seen in a while. You can tell it has old bones, but it's fresh and doesn't have odors. Great, freindly staff. Breakfast options are pre-packaged grab n go, including hot items such as burritos, quiche, sausage/egg biscuit, oatmeal... (pretty sure it rotates). Got a great dinner referral to Surf Restaurant, which did not disappoint. Great stay! The one thing I didn't care for (and it wasn't a big deal) was the open shower. It was drafty.

I stayed at this location for some time. The Room was tidy with a kitchenette, decently sized couch and bed. Unfortunately, with this location accepting animals. I did notice fleas were on the couch. I only noticed two during my stay. The noise level of this hotel is high. Easy to hear people talking down the hallway or in the next room. I have been woken up many nights (1am to 2am) of people stumbling back to their rooms yelling and laughing. Which is expected with the location and surrounding "night life". If you are looking for a consistent good night's rest this is with out a doubt not the place for you. The staff are very "hit or miss" so-to-speak. Some days very engaged and welcoming others not so much. I tested a theory as I was getting on the elevator from my room. I noticed a tall attractive gentleman already on the elevator heading down to the lobby. As we arrived at the lobby, I insisted for him to exit. I waited two seconds; to heard the hotel front desk acknowledge the gentleman. I exited the elevator and walk passed the front desk. The staff were very intensely engaged with their computers with no client to attend too. Interesting... I would say I have been only acknowledged about ten percent of the time. I have received more acknowledgment from the cleaning staff; every time I would pass them in the hallway. (The cleaning staff are great) The valet company personal are mixed also. Some are very engaged and friendly. The others seem to be very unhappy. I would say grumpy even. On another note... I would highly suggest reframe from smoking while working. It is frustrating to have the smell cigarettes in my vehicle. (I find myself only tipping the ones that are more engaged and friendly.) The location is fantastic; great places to see and eat within walking distance. Unfortunately for my personal experience here I can not in good judgment give a "good review". I wish the management and staff the very best.

Rooms are specious, clean, and updated. Check in process simple. Breakfast included which is great for families. Walkable to town activities.Better parking options need to be available. $38 for valet is too much. Alternatives should be made easily available.Hotel bar closed. I don t understand how a hotel of this size can t find a way to staff the lounge bar.Overall good experience. I would stay there again.

Holy moly! Our room was quite large with a full sized fridge, microwave, stove top, sink, and dishwasher. The bed was comfortable, view was beautiful, and most importantly everything was SPOTLESS. Breakfast was available and everything individually wrapped. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, as well. There were plenty of dogs in the hotel, and the hotel was still super clean! We ve definitely found a new go-to for a weekend getaway!

Love the hotel's decor, great color scheme. Very friendly staff and an amazing location. There was lots of space and a great View. Initially had some minor issues with the hotel but after speaking with the manager James I felt my issues had been addressed and corrected and I really appreciate his efforts. This is a great place to relax and unwind. I really wish they had a better breakfast but that's more of the inconvenience of life during pandemic and hopefully they figure out a way to provide some better food options for the guests who want breakfast while still maintaining safety for themselves and their guests.

This was hands down my favorite hotel that I have ever stayed at. The suite was beautiful and super clean. I appreciated the full kitchen since we were traveling with a three year old!! The location was close to everything and there were a bunch of restaurants within a very short walking distance. The best part was the staff though, from the front desk to the cleaning staff. They were so welcoming and genuinely kind. Very professional and quick to offer help with any problem (my daughter needed milk and they found some for me...she was having a hard time sleeping and they located coloring pages and a pack of markers for me!). We will definitely be back again!!

Super clean, updated with all necessary amenities. Good covid measures. Gym was nice. Everyone who works there were super friendly and nice. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed the complimentary breakfast very much - they had hot sandwiches, and a great selection of premium yogurts, as well as cereals and juices. This was my first time staying at the residency inn by Marriott but it won t be the last.

Rooms are nice. But parking is a problem. The only option hotel gives is valet parking, an expensive add-on to the room. Not clearly mentioned while booking. The breakfast is so so. The hot breakfast items are fast food style prepacked junk food, and the continental choices are also not fresh.

My husband and I have been staying at this location for almost 10 years now. We love Portsmouth and this hotel is extremely convenient when coming to visit family all the way from North Carolina. We now have a 2.5 year old son and finally was able to make the trip since Covid while I am currently 7 months pregnant. We have never had an issue and have always enjoyed the staff. Our stay was overall great until it came time to leave. Because we live SO far away and driving with a toddler it is not the easiest, we needed to leave at 4am. We loaded the majority of our items in to our car that we parked right out front of the entrance the day before so when we left, we only had a few items to carry down. My husband stayed upstairs in our room, getting dressed, 2.5 year old asleep in the bed, while I took a duffle bag, our two pillows, and a few other items down. We were staying in a suite so the bedroom is separate. I wanted to get the car warmed up so we could easily transfer our toddler to the car. Unfortunately, I did forget the hotel key upstairs in the midst of grabbing items, it was 4am. When I went back inside and rang the bell, a man came to the door and said that he would not let me back inside after I explained to him what room I was in, forgot my card key, and that my husband and 2.5 year old was back upstairs in the room waiting for me to come help grab the last few items. I had my drivers license AND confirmation of our booking on my cell phone and he would still not allow me back in. He would not even call up to our room to ask my husband to verify it was in fact me to get back in. My husbands cell phone was plugged in where our sleeping child was. After almost 20 minutes and my husband worried for me, he checked his phone. Had to wake up our child to come downstairs to get me. While I completely Understand safety, I am Clearly 7 months pregnant and had my identification to compare to his information in the system! The man could have confirmed if he went back on the cameras because he was NOT at the front desk when I cam Down to see I had JUST come downstairs, arms full. He could have easily allowed me to sit inside the lobby until my husband came downstairs instead of making me sit outside. The man was extremely RUDE! Telling me to find another way?! We will be contacting cooperate and are owed a written apology. This was handled completely extreme. I was not some drunk walking in, trying to cause problems.

the room was nice, we loved that they are so dog friendly. the issue was the staff at check out. we received the final bill the morning of checkout and were paying in cash. two different people counted the money 3x each and when we went to check out the girl took the cash and turned her attention to another customer. we went to bring our bags out to the car and she then informed us that we were short. I am extremely displeased at her attitude and the fact that money somehow was missing after it had been counted so many times. I find it incredibly unsettling that she was so rude and another member of my party even said there is no way it was off by that much as they had ALSO counted multiple times. I would not recommend paying in cash as clearly there are some untrustworthy people working at this establishment.

I really wanted to like this hotel as it s a great location and the rooms are very nice, and overall it s a physically nice hotel including the lobby. However, there is little no sound dampening it seems. Could hear everything going on in the hallways and it sounded like the Hulk was above us. Our buddy who also stayed there asked to switch rooms his neighbors were so loud and evidently the staff caught an attitude about it. They also didn t provide the free waters for Marriott members we ve been given at other hotels.

I stayed at this Residence Inn for 7 weeks, and I think I gave a fair and honest review here. I decided to break it down into pros, cons, and my recommendation and leave it at that. I will say that some of my points in the review could be beyond the hotel and its staff s control, but it s still important for you to know when making your decision.Cons:- Noise: The biggest issue with staying here is the building itself. The builder must ve used the thinnest, cheapest materials around because you literally hear everything. You can hear every footstep that someone takes and every conversation in the hallways and adjoining rooms. I ve been woken up numerous times throughout the night because of noise and had to call down to the front desk.- Beds: Maybe I was just unlucky, but my bed was uncomfortable. I constantly had back pain and stiffness throughout my stay.- Breakfast: I know that most hotels had to change up their breakfast options due to COVID, but its 2022 and they re still serving dry foods and microwaved breakfast sandwiches. Additionally, the bar in the hotel is closed. I m not sure if this is a corporate thing, but they need to move back to normal operations.- Windy: Its extremely windy at this hotel. So windy in fact that the trash cans outside the hotel were getting blown into, and damaging, people s cars that were parked on the street.- Parking: the parking here is pretty bad. The hotel is limited to a dozen or so parking spots that cost $30 per day, and are not guaranteed. Street parking just as expensive and can be difficult at night and on the weekends. Your only other option is to park in the Foundry garage which is 2 blocks over. Not a bad garage, but will get filled up by town residents during winter storms and you ll be screwed.- Plumbing: the hotel has an issue where if you re away from your room for a while (a day or so), your toilet will start to backup. I ve cam back a few times and my whole bathroom reeked of urine/dirty toilet water- Train tracks: there s train tracks are right across the street. Didn t have much of an issue in the beginning of my stat, but by the end the train would be running late at night and woke me up a few times.Pros:- The hotel is in walking distance of downtown and has many food/shopping options in the immediate surrounding buildings.- Majority of the staff is nice and responded to my requests/concerns in a timely manner.- The rooms were up-to-date and everything worked as it was supposed to.Recommendation: I personally cannot recommend staying at this hotel if you re a long-term guest. There are too many annoyances that I encountered that outweighed the good of the hotel. I do believe however, if I was in a room on the 5th floor and didn t deal with the heavy-footed guests all the time, my view would probably be different. However, I cannot justify paying the amount of money for this hotel for it to have so many issues. If you re here for a few days, then you would probably be good with staying here, but be aware.

Amazing service. I left a very sentimental blanket behind in my room over Christmas and Steven, along with all of the girls at the front desk, went out of their way to find it for me. I was a bit hysterical honestly (yikes!) but they could not have been more kind, courteous and professional and were genuinely concerned about finding it for me (Steven did find it in the end!).. Wonderful attentive staff and a beautiful hotel. Feels like home.

Really nice place, especially the room option for a full kitchen and living room. The only problem is the lack of breakfast options, there is cereal, pre packaged muffins, oatmeal packets, and juices. There isn't much more than that. However besides that, the businesses and attractions in the area are amazing. Beautiful streets, scenery, and services everywhere. The placement of this hotel will not disappoint.

The whole hotel feels modern and snazzy. Our room had a stainless steel fridge, mini cooktop full size microwave, coffee maker (keurig), ironing board, crisp white bedsheets and a full size couch. It has a nice view of the street below where we could watch inebriated people stumble around. My only gripe was the shower that leaked water onto the floor. Poorly designed fixed glass system. An adjustable shower head could fix that. Most notably the best hotel I have stayed at.

Very nice hotel with nice staff. I go there occasionally to provide therapeutic massage for guests. The rooms are light and comfortable. The staff has always been helpful. I have provided my services for events there as well. Again, it's always a pleasure to go there. The venue rooms are always appropriately beautiful too.

very clean and comfortable, breakfast was just ok. Why not offer fewer things and make those really good. self parking is pricey and the day fee to just park for an hour in front of the hotel when all spaces are free is just unfriendly.
