In the world of online shopping I found myself needing parts to repair my corded lawnmower and was pleasantly surprised to walk into Sparks Electric Motor and be greeted with friendliness, promptness and the parts I needed in stock. Their pricing was alarmingly great. More mom and pop shops like this please!

First off, my job was not typical and small for the type of work this shop does, which in my opinion makes me appreciate them more. Their service and finality is unsurpassed. I had a stator for an old 1/6 hp motor that had burned armature insulation for a Hobart N50 mixer I was rebuilding as a gift for my dad. The motor seemed to work fine but I was insistent on rebuilding it entirely. This is much smaller than the typical work this shop does, but they did not disappoint! I dropped it off but didn't think to leave the housing to ensure the stator once rewound would fit before they thermoset the encapsulating resin around the windings, more on this later. They completed it very quickly and the work was top notch, they were able to reverse engineer the original motor's windings with the appropriate gauge, number of windings, keep it balanced, and update it with modern insulating resin and plastic instead of the old insulating resin and paper. However when I tried to fit it into the housing once that part arrived from powdercoating did not fit properly. Even though I feel it was my fault in hindsight for making such an obvious mistake I was able to take it back to the shop and they were kind enough to have their technician spend time slightly adjusting the winding position with a little love from some plastic levers and a rubber hammer. I was afraid this would through off the balance or damage the insulating resin, but it all was fine and it worked great. The price was very reasonable, especially consider the time, labor (which of course was all done by hand) and skill and also considering the cost of a new motor.
