These guys are the best auto shop in the Reno Sparks area! I've been taking my cars to them for about 20 years and the few times that I've gone to someone else, I've regretted it. I once had a Chrysler Sebring that would quit when it got hot, the dealer said it would cost $1000+ to replace a warped intake manifold, Jim, the owner of Mooney's took it home that night and it blew out a lot of carbon that had built up, total cost to me $40-! They could have charged a lot more and I would have had no choice but they don't fix things that aren't broken like dealerships and other shops do. I trust my cars to them and as a disabled veteran, that is trusting my life to them and they've never let me down!

I have an older BMW and Mooney's is now under new ownership called Beemer Experts of Reno. I've known the owners a long time and they are THE BEST! Phenomenal quality, competitive prices. They do all exotics and still do American cars too. Highly recommend. Great guys!

Jim and his men diagnosed and took care of the 4x4 problem on my F-150. He kept me informed of the issues they were having and charged a fair price. Nice to have an honest mechanic I can trust. I won't take my vehicles anywhere else as long as he's in business and I'm in Northern Nevada. Thanks Jim.

I took my old beat up 95 toytoa 4runner there to see if they can locate and fix an oil leak from the motor. I took it in and the next day, they had it all fixed. It was great cause Jim poured UV sensitive dye into the motor and had me come in for check ups to see if the motor was leaking any more fluids. Its good old fashion service they provide. I am impressed and recommend anyone to have their vehicle fixed there. There was no hassle like other shops and they did have fair prices.

We were in Reno for the weekend from Southern California. On Sunday our car developed a major coolant leak. We extended our stay and called Jim on Monday morning. He said bring it in and he would see if he could get us back on the road the same day. We had to have the car towed to his shop and he met the tow truck in the parking lot. Although his shop was full, he had already made room on a lift and promptly moved the car inside. By the time we filled out the paper work, the car was in the air and one of his mechanics was already working on it. A new water pump was put in and the repairs were done by 3pm. Additionally, he is a NAPA service center and the parts he uses come with a one year guarantee. This is old time service and courtesy geared to getting a traveler back on the road. Jim and his wife are wonderful people and treat you like family. I highly recommend his business to everyone. Thank you for the wonderful service Jim.

Do note that this review is specific to their new "Bimmer Experts Reno" subsidiary.Wife went in with her BMW with a check engine light, coolant leak, and oil leak. Estimate came back higher than what the BMW factory mechanics estimated, despite that being the place where paychecks go to die.How is that possible? They do a lot of "double dipping" on labor. For example, say you need to replace the spark plugs and coils. With a coil-on-plug design, the coils have to come off in order to replace the plugs. As such, most honest mechanics would charge no additional labor since putting a new coil on or the old coil on is the same amount of work. But they bill 2 hours of labor for the plugs, 2 hours of labor for the coils - and at $130+/hour, that adds up quick. Now this isn't illegal - it's still quoting book for each repair. It's just dishonest and not in the customer's best interest. My wife is a "29" year old blond with no real automotive knowledge, so when she pulled up to the repair shop in her convertible, they saw moneybags and pounced. If she didn't have me look over the work estimate, she easily would have fallen for their scam.So if you do any BMW repair work with them, make sure to shop around or at least ask someone who knows BMWs whether their price quotes are reasonable. Otherwise, you could think you're saving money by avoiding the dealer, but actually end up paying significantly more.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My opinion is that Mooney's is the best shop in town. He is honest & accurate. He has helped me pass smog on some very obscure vehicles, like an out-of-state Samurai & tuned the new carburetor in my '49 Chevy when everyone else told me to replace it.

We found a 1975 Chevy 4wd for my son in California, when we got it back to Reno it wouldnt pass smog. After being given the runaround by another smog guy and the DMV we ended up at Mooney's.Jim got us in right away and fixed the truck quickly. I will never go anywhere else and I tell everybody I know how honest and awesome Mooney's is.
