The best experience I have ever had at a repair shop. Michael, the owner, was very knowledgeable and professional, but most of all is down to earth and explains everything. I brought my Ram 2500 to him after going to another shop that wanted to install a new transmission for a lot of money. Michael diagnosed the problem and fixed it in less than a day and for a very reasonable price. Don t waste your time with any other shop, go to Transcraft first!

Michael the owner of Trans Craft is incredibly knowledgeable about ALL things related to transmissions and his staff is incredible. He's the last of a dying breed of business owners that truly love what they do.

Michael treated me like family through the entire time. He absolutely went above and beyond to get my 06 ram working the way it s supposed to even taking it to another shops to have the cluster rebuilt. What a guy huh? Doesn t stop there. After the cluster was rebuilt the truck wouldn t start??? Guess who took the time to go figure it out? Yep, Michael at transcraft has a customer for life and I ll definitely post what ends up happening with the no start. I this it s a security disable or a bad ignition switchService: Transmission

Mike is very knowledgeable and explains everything in great detail to you. His prices are very affordable also. I would highly recommend him for any Automatic transmission work.

I took my truck to Mike at Transcraft after my friend recommended him, has known him for 15 years and said he was the most honest mechanic he has ever known. Which proved to be true.My 96 Ram2500 4x4 with the 12V Cummins, automatic had eaten its innards. Mike asked me if I was going to add some power and how much towing capacity I wanted. He knows the weak points in these units and built me a transmission that will handle the job and not leave me stranded. Bought this truck used and not knowing its history that was always in the back of my mind. Not anymore.If you have ANY kind of transmission issues or just need yours serviced, Mike is the man!

PUBLIC NOTICE!!! Please don t take your car or truck anywhere else! This is easily the best transmission shop in Reno and I won t go anywhere else. Michael is extremely knowledgeable and hands down the most honest mechanic I ve dealt with over the years! If that man tells you a price, pay it no matter what because it s fair! He fixed my wife s 2012 Subaru Outback in under 3 hours and even charged less than what he originally thought it would be! Although, I would have GLADLY paid twice for what he did. I will be referring everyone with transmission issues here and taking all my future transmission work here. Every mechanic has a transmission guy and he is it for me. Thanks again Trans Craft!!

The owner, Mike, is very knowledgeable and extremely thorough. The price for rebuilding my transmission was beyond reasonable for the work done. Trans Craft is the only shop I would recommend for transmission work.

Michael and his staff did a great job fixing my Suburban. They stuck to the original estimate and even fixed a few problems related to the cooler. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful they were. His is the best transmission shop in Reno. HANDS DOWN.

My 2006 Mini Cooper S was shifting erratically, lurching forward and needed a new transmission. The dealership quoted me over $8,000 to replace it, but since my car was only worth that amount I visited several transmission shops. I talked to Michael at Trans Craft and he was extremely knowledgable and was able to fix my Mini Cooper by replacing the valve body for a quarter of the price. It's been a few months since I had this done and my Mini is still running great. I highly recommend Trans Craft and Michael. Hannah, at the front desk, was very helpful and courteous as well.

I learned that I had a transmission leak on my Subaru. Several folks recommended Trans Craft because Michael is very fair and honest. After looking at the transmission, Michael said that I had hit something that knocked the transmission pan loose. They added the fluid and recommended changing the pan because it was dented. It was completed in one day and OEM parts were used. I am very pleased with the service. In fact, when the 120K transmission service is due on my Subaru, I am taking it back to Trans Craft for service. I HIGHLY recommend Trans Craft for your transmission needs. Thank you, Michael, for showing me that there are reputable folks that work on vehicles!

Mike is the best. We took in a Ford F-150, expecting it needed transmission work, but Mike took it for a drive and said it only needed a tune up, that it was a common problem on this year truck. Great service and honesty above all.

Bottom line: This is a very conscientious shop, knowledgeable, honest and reasonably priced. I highly recommend it! What follows is why we say this.We own a 1992 Dodge diesel w/auto transmission. For years the tranny would drop out of overdrive for no reason and we'd be stuck driving 50 mph in third gear for the remainder of the "vacation." This is not good when you're traveling at freeway speeds on a long trip - other drivers hate you not to mention what that could do to your transmission. Many different different transmission shops and dollars later (some with limited success) Dynamic Diesel recommended we take it to Trans Craft. Best recommendation ever!Mike Dickinson is tenacious! He tested all the regular things that would cause this problem and fixed some previously "repaired" incorrect wiring. When that didn't fix it he sent the computer to be tested and if needed repaired (found out there was an unrelated problem with it) by a company that specializes in automobile computers. An erroneous reading was fixed, but not our downshifting problem. What he did next is what you won't find in many shops - he and his technician tested every single wire between the transmission and the computer. They found ONE wire with a weak signal! The wire casing was in perfect shape. No indication of ever being pinched, burned, or otherwise damaged. They cut the casing and found all the wire threads broken except ONE THREAD. They replaced that ONE wire which fixed the problem. Talk about a needle in a haystack! Just finished a 600 mile trip without even a hint that anything had ever gone wrong.It took a couple months of "gum shoe" investigating, testing and re-testing for Mike to find this problem and if his idea &/or testing proved unproductive, he didn't charge us for it. He worked with us at every turn trying to keep our costs down. I can't tell you how many shops charged us for just trying to figure out what caused incorrect downshifting - and never repaired the real problem. If you have an odd problem with your transmission and the time to leave your vehicle for Mike to chase down the pesky reason causing it - he and his tech WILL find the source of your trouble and fix it.

Michael is the best! He helped me find a used transfer case that was perfect for my Tacoma. Very fair with estimating and pricing, and was finished very quickly.

I have been in the used car business for over 50 years. I had a dealership in Reno for 17 years . . . Michael who owns and operates Trans Craft is a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10. Completely honest, Incredibly talented with a wealth of experience . . . it does not get any better.

10 out of 5 stars in my book... I would like to thank Mike and his crew for the work they did on my vehicle i will be using them for all my transmission service and needs. At first I thought they needed to hire a secretary cause everytime I called it went to voice mail but they are a very busy respectable shop and I personally, and im sure others would agree they go above and beyond 5 stars.

Gotta say, honest as they get.Car was lurching and shaking in 2nd gear.I was sure it was automatic transmission on my 2000 Excursion.The hooked it up to the scope and said it was out of tune at NO CHARGE!I had just had it tuned! I took it to another shop to get it tuned.It's perfect and is stopped my weak power steering problem.I will take my vehicles back for sure if ever there is a true transmission problem.Gotta love an honest shop!

Tried getting a hold of them for over 2 weeks with no response. Live in Carson City and don't really travel to Reno often, so I try to contact them by phone because I heard this guy knew his stuff on Transmissions, but I am at the point to where there will never be any contact which means he not only lost my business but the business of a few friends and businesses that referenced me. I have deep connections with shops in Carson that are not happy to hear this treatment so I rate a one and will be happy to change it if I can get a person on the phone to explain why a business is bad on returning calls.

Without question, the finest shop ANYWHERE to get a transmission or transfer case repaired. The most honest, trustworthy and reliable repair shop I've ever dealt with. I am a customer for life!
