I have a mercury mountaineer, 285,000 miles and the transmission was shot. This was my dad s pride and joy, the engine is as strong as can be. I had these guys completely rebuild the transmission. And now the transmission feels brand new. Before the repair I could barely even reverse. They even took the time to show me some other parts of the engine that need work. I called about 15 different places, and these guys also gave me the best price out of all of them.

We took a trip to the northern California Pacific coast through some treacherous mountain roads and when we returned the transmission and engine light started flashing with the transmission shifting erratically. After many calls and research we decided to go with Richard and General transmission. We were having crazy weather with snow but they were still able to fit us in and take care of the problem. The whole transaction went smoothly describing to us the problem and action taken to resolve them. Taking my car to a shop is very stressful to me, but they were able to instill confidence and manage my experience exceptionally.

Richard went above and beyond for us. He explained all of my options thoroughly and worked within my budget. I needed a new transmission. I appreciate everything he did for my family. Got my car back and paid less than my quote and my car works beautifully!

The folks at GT are wonderful. They were incredibly helpful, transparent about costs (which were more than reasonable), and friendly. A few months after they worked on my transmission, I had to take it to the dealer and the dealer said transmission was leaking. I took it back to GT and they took a look and made sure I was good to go. Will definitely return here if I need anything else.

What a great and honest bunch of people! I brought them my truck for transmission repair, and they discovered that it had a recall and charged me nothing while taking perfect care of my truck. I was raised to believe that Mechanic and honest couldn t be used in the same sentence These folks will take good care of you and prove that honest mechanics do exist.

Took truck in from trans over heating ,they did rebuild .over heated again coming from road trip ,they couldn't locate why ,did another build ,then burned up within 40 miles and there saying abuse and not warranting there work cause I did as they asked and it burned up again.Looks like they stuck behind there employees but not there work.DONT GO THERE .

He went above and beyond to make sure my car was properly fixed the right way. When in need Bob made sure I could use a company rental to get around for my work week & seemed like he really cared about my needs. I'm really big in customer service and just for his patience and friendly attitude I would be back no doubt.

These boys got my old truck purring like a tiger.My new tranny shifts like a dream. When I'm cruising up the hill with my windows down and the pedal to the metal I feel like I could go anywhere, thanks to the fine folks at General Transmission.Great service, they answered my questions and taught me a little, did the job quickly, and even gave me a hat.(YOU probably won't get a hat, so don't get your hopes up.)

These guys are seriously super great. I was in a pinch on my way up through Reno and they truly went the extra mile to diagnose my transmission needs.When it comes to auto repairs it s always hit and miss, either the place is good but the workers are mean or the place sucks and everyone is too nice about it. Everyone here was incredibly friendly and more importantly knew exactly what to do to diagnose my transmission issue.I never leave reviews but I had to at a place this great.Service: Transmission

These guys are the real deal powertrain experts. I only use these guys whether it is transmission/engine/4Wheel Drive. I had my 4 wheel drive get stuck in 4 wheel, would not go back to 2wd. Took it to them and the next day it was done. They even ensured the CEL's were cleared and did not come back. I take my vehicles only to these guys if I want the best warrantied work done. Ricky is literally the best!!!! He helped me figure out what was wrong with my transmission, AND advocated for me to the dealership my car warranty is under. This place and this crew are amazing! They got my transmission fixed faster than quoted. Amazing customer service when you call in for updates. This is the type of place I would feel comfortable sending my daughter in to get her car fixed (in 14 years), with the confidence that they will not add in frivolous charges, and do exactly what is required to get the job done. The High Reviews definitely lived up to the expectation! All of the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Discussed repair options on my 4r100 with Rich and Ricky (both stand up guys who tell you the truth) and they were able to get it done before the end of the week without a prior appointment date!!! Truck shifts quickly and firmly now just in time for us to move to the area. Will recommend to friends and family for sure!

General Transmission Repair did such a good job on my truck. The guy Richard that I spoke with was very professional and honest. He was very knowledgeable and informative about transmissions and helped get my transmission financed. The staff was friendly and polite. These guys font know it but that truck has been in my family for 14 years. They have not only saved a truck but a precious piece of my past as well. I recommend to everyone to go into this shop for repairs on transmissions. My truck now preforms like it did when I was younger. Thanks Generals Transmission! You guys are amazing!

I took my older Ford diesel to General Transmission and they did a great job. They did a complete rebuild with some upgrades and my truck is much more enjoyable now. The people are knowledgeable, nice and had good referrals for other work I'm having done to the truck.I will definitely use this shop again if I need drive-train work done.

First of this place is amazing. Last Thursday, I called into the shop because I thought my transmission was going out. Ricky and the team instantly took my car in. They were amazing, super friendly and nice. Ricky and the team really took care of me and my car making sure it was 100% perfect when I got it back.. I got my car back yesterday and it runs like it is brand new off the lot.. Thank you so much Ricky and team. I highly recommend this shop to anyone and everyone!!!!!

We have taken two cars here and they are always thorough in their inspections and very helpful. They also are fairly priced compared to most shops in the area. Also, feel free to take a water from the mini fridge (they are free). My 5 year old did

Can I just say WOW! I don t think I ve ever spoke with an auto shop that has been so kind and patient. Amazing customer service!!!! I don t know much about cars and they took the time to explain the best way to fix my car, the most cost effective way, etc. Not only did they fix what was wrong but they also checked everything else out so when I picked my car up it was up to date and good to go! They truly have the customers best interest in mind and did the job with love . I will absolutely be taking my business there again, support this business you will NOT be disappointed! Based on the reviews here and other places, i opted for the Yelp quote option from this place for my 2007 Honda Element with a broken manual transmission with 62K miles. Upon receiving the quote from Peter A., and conducting additional research on this shop over the course of months, I saved money to pay for the repair, and then contacted General Transmission and spoke with Jennifer. They were willing to honor the quote i received earlier in the year and they towed the vehicle to their shop from Carson City free of charge despite having full AAA coverage. Jennifer and Richard (service manager) kept in contact with me and informed me of various issues they encountered when they did a tear down and waited for some parts from Honda and other vendors to get this Element back on the road. Anyway, after a couple of issues, the Element was put correctly back together and I was able to pick up the Element from the shop. When I picked it up, the Element was washed and semi-detailed and you could not tell without a discerning eye that the car was disassembled to some degree. All and all, a very pleasant experience with kudos to Jennifer and Richard as being truly outstanding General Transmission employees.Since receiving the Element, the car has shifted liked a dream and there were/are zero problems with the vehicle. I am very happy with my decision to have Peter and his team fix the Honda Element and I am glad to be able to give my business to a local shop with ties to the community. I wish Peter and his team the best. If I ever have any other transmission problems with any of my vehicles, I will not hesitate to work with Peter again. Nor will I have any problems referring friends and family to Peter for business. Finally, if this vehicle surprisingly ever has problems with the transmission due to the work that was done, there is no doubt that Peter and his team will work to make it right during the warranty period.

Great customer service, came in on a Saturday for a check engine, explained to me my car needed engine repair not transmission. He still searched my code and gave me peace of mind and a referral. I was so happy Ricky as busy as he was I had my transmission serviced while I was in. Richard and Ricky worked so hard to get my Audi serviced. If i could rate a ten I would but five i the highest I could rate. Ricky went above and beyond for me!

2011Subaru Outback: Continuously Variable TransmissionMy transmission appeared to have major failure (just past extended warranty mileage) while on road trip. Contacted transmission shops between California & Nevada. After speaking with a number of transmission shops & dealerships, General Transmission seemed to be the most knowledgeable outfit I'd spoken with.They were very responsive & provided rapid service on major repairs that corresponded to the vehicles warning codes (torque converter & valve body issues). Car has been running smooth since repairs & the work may have resolved a strange power drop issue I've always had when coming to a stop.Highly recommend.Service: Transmission

Went there 4th of July they pulled codes an told me transmission was bad tried to get me to let them replace it 5000 to 9000 honda civic 2015 told them no they added 3 quarts of fluid charged me 100 dollars I wasstaying at nugget next day I took it to honda they fixed it watch out don't trust general get a second opinion his reply to the post is what he told me he is right they don't replace transmission for the fun of it they do it for money how about waiting till you need one

These guys are Top Notch! Their service is stellar and FAST! We were traveling through Reno towards Montana when our transmission started failing and they made time for us within an hours notice. Since I had an engagement in Montana they went above and beyond to get us back on the road ASAP! They actually got a transmission and Gus installed it immediately! They got everything finished in about 24 hours and made sure we were good and got us on the road in time to meet our event. We were blown away by their friendliness and professionalism- Jennifer, the service advisor, personally drove us to a hotel for overnite stay and Richard the office manager took the time to not only explain everything but a few friendly chats too! Pete the owner was busy busy but very friendly and helpful! We HIGHLY recommend them for tranny repair and any other service they offer. Good folks, great experience, over the top service! Def 5 stars!! Thanks guys, for giving us priority service and saving the day!!

Absolutely top notch. Richard is amazing, he did a hell of a job on the transmission for my '94 Ford Explorer, and even threw in a warranty. When I brought it back for a minor check-up he noticed some minor oil leaks and fixed 'em at no charge. Amazing service and good quality. I'll absolutely be coming back.

Peter and his guys are very professional and friendly, with no nonsense, meaning they aren't going to screw you around on a price or what needs to be fixed. My wife and I have both had major repairs done to our cars within the past two years and they both run great.We have also referred several friends and family members to the shop, with no complaints . The work is always done in a timely manner, even major overhauls. I appreciate finding a shop with people that I can trust,
