Definitely worth the drive from the I-80. Only tribe owned museum in the state. Kind staff and informative. After visiting the museum head on north towards the lake and then go west/southwest bound towards Reno. Beautiful scenery besides the lake and in the mountains.

Great experience! Wonderful people, tons of local history I was clueless about. Well worth the time and memories. If you haven't taken the time to visit this local treasure, make time to do it. Worth it.

It s one of the best museums that I visited in a while. Let me know more about Native American culture & more about the area. I appreciate the staff, and it s a free admission

If you're heading to Pyramid Lake, then you need to stop here first and get a sense of the different Native American people who call this area and Lake Tahoe home. The museum is charming and quite informative.

Incredible Museum and staff! The woman at the front desk was kind and helpful and so was the museum director The museum was even free of charge. I loved and learned the most from the timeline section. It started from thousands of years ago, describing ancient lake lahontan and the traditional way of life, through contact with white settlers, the gold rush, the comstock lode, the pyramid lake war, derby damn, and more, until the present. Highly recommend to anyone interested in learning about and appreciating Native history and culture.

Off the beaten path, cool museum with a cute gift shop. We always make sure to stop here each year we come to Black Rock City. Everyone who works here is so sweet and helpful.

The Pyramid Lake Museum was fantastic! We learned a lot about the Paiute and their culture, society, and their perseverance. I really enjoyed the craftsmanship that was on display. The baskets, clothing, and the cradle boards were particularly beautiful. The Pyramid Lake Museum should definitely be on your "places to visit" list if you're on vacation in Nevada like we were.

Who doesn t like a free museum???I was in the area for work and finished up early. Dropped-in on my way back to the hotel. The staff was very helpful with all my questions. They have plenty of photos, documents and artifacts from the local Paiute culture that inhabit the area plus some geological info.I picked a few books in the gift shop. Will stop by again next time I'm in the area.

Keepers of true history are important, learning myths and legends that led people to survive in the area. Find out some of the local nature and survival skills that took generations of adaptation. Ask a question.

This was an experience to have. We went mid week, so no crowds, yay. The welcoming staff was very kind and helpful. They checked in on us occasionally to see if we had questions, and when we did, they were able to answer them. An eye opener to the history of this area.

I love the gift shop. They have a wonderful collection of local native beadwork. The museum has improved much over the years, providing many native entrepreneurs a place to exhibit their crafts and art.

It's a great museum! There's so much more information and exhibits than I thought there would be. There's a wide variety of souvenirs at great prices, too.

Such a unique structure, it's an attraction all on its own...and with the thoughtfully curated anthropological spread held inside, twice worth it.AND and and I was able to purchase a lovely handcrafted scarf inside, supporting indigenous artisans. 3X WORTH STOPPING!

Pyramid Lake is absolutely gorgeous. The Visitors' Center is in an amazing building on the south side of the lake. Amazing crafts and history, but be prepared for some uncomfortable truths about the United States treatment of the Pyramid Lake Paiute peoples. The staff was lovely to us.

Great and informitive little museum!! Very well done. Jackie is the sweetest, most helpful, and inviting person. I really appreciated her, and am so glad to have met her. I am glad I stopped in, and returned after camping on the lake, to spend time checking out the museum. Thanks for everything Miss Jackie!!

Nice museum. We enjoyed the stories and the museum. Then we went to the pyramid. After 30 min driving we discovered that it is closed and the area is only open for people with special permission. All others will be treated for trespassing. We went back to the other side of the lake. For every toilet or picknick area or going to the lake you need a permission by the trial. So you have to go to the next city for buying this.Would be good to know this when we were at the visitor's center but there nobody told us.Everywhere the feeling of profit because you have to pay for going somewhere.Would be better if they close the whole area instead of closing the main attraction and for the other taking money. The area is controlled by aircraft. Don't know how hard the fines are but I don't expect moderate prices. We were angry, annoyed about this visit.

On Saturday afternoon my children & I drove 75 miles from Carson City to Pyramid Lake. I had checked the hours on their website stating Saturday hours. We get there & it's closed. Called the phone number got a voice recording. There were many other cars pulling into the parking lot, one with Oregon license plates. Whoever runs this so called Visitor Center needs to update the website. The fact that NO ONE was there ruined our entire visit, not to mention the many miles we'd come.
